Hot posion dispenser
Absolute crap.Similar to the other review, my unit also malfunctioned a few weeks after purchase.First it wouldn't cool the water so I got room temperature water for a couple of days.I turned it off until the next day.When I turned it back on, I only got 2 ounces of cold water before it started getting warm again.So I call customer service.Says she's gonna mail me some voucher or something so I can exchange it.Guess what? I never got it.I turned it off again and it seemed to be working okay for a couple of days(apparently can only handle a few days' service at a time).Today after coming off the treadmill parched and ready to gulp a big glass of cold water, I managed to swallow about half of the cup which was full of hot acid.That's how bad the water tasted.Stupid thing now overheated making the water in the bottle itself hot.So I call again today, waited on the line for 20 minutes before leaving an irrate message (probably why they haven't called back) and am now gonna have to eat the money I shelled out for the acid machine.If you're reading this....stay away from this company!I am now forced to rent a commercial grade unit from my water delivery service so that I don't have to deal with this piece of junk or the brainless cust. service people.

Poor quality, awful customer service
I bought this unit on 7/28/2005. About two weeks after receiving and installing it, the unit malfunctioned. Specifically, the unit wouldn't cool the water any more and the cold light indicator won't lit. I called the customer service and spoke with a rep. I was told to send the original invoice and the sticker from the back of the unit and mail them to Avanti for unit replacement. So I did.

Poor spigot design = leaking & inaccessible water.
This product is markedly inferior to its main competitor, the Pur 2-Stage Dispenser.Specifically, I found two main flaws:

I've been happily using this produt for the past 4+ months. It is fantastic! This is the most hydrated I have ever been. Seriously.
One word - Mold
Throughout the years I have used and owned many different versions of the Brita Pitcher Water Dispenser. All of these filtered water containers have been great. The only complaint I have ever had with these filters is size. The Brita Ultramax Water Filter Dispenser was supposed to answer this problem. Unfortunately due to bad design, it introduced a multitude of problems that never existed with past Brita products.

Not worth it
I have owned this unit for 2 years.The water seems OK and definitely better than from the tap.However, every 4 months or so we have to change the filter because we start to have a chlorine taste coming back.The replacement cartridges are very expensive.There is a little knob on the faucet that you pull to switch from tap to filter, and this knob recently has broken off.We cannot seem to access the company's website to get a replacement part.I am thinking to get a different water filter system altogether.I would not buy again.(Also, I have had lots of problems with their water bottles...leakage, breaking, etc.I won't buy any product from this company again.)

Water tastes great
The water from this filter always tastes great and it is easy to hook up. I would give it five stars except it occasionally drips water from where the base meets the top.However, it just takes a little patience to get it on right.

Where is the NSF certification?
Interesting that the description invokes EPA standards, but fails to mention if the unit is NSF certified.It's the least any vendor of drinking water filters can do.
