1-0 out of 5 stars what a waste!?!
I was sooo disappointed with this waffle iron. It's the worst piece of garbage that I have ever purchased. And very poorly made. The waffles stuck to the iron (regardless of the amount of oil used). The bottom grill didn't get hot enough and the top grill got too hot?!? I assumed that it was just a defective iron, so I returned it and was sent a replacement. It too, gave me the same problems. I wasted so much batter on this piece of junk. I threw it in the trash. This product is a total waste of time and money. I would NOT recommend anyone to buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
I'm very disappointed by how poorly this grill performs. The main problem is that everything sticks to it, no matter how well it is oiled. I followed the directions and can't get it to work properly. It's going into the junk bin!!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Great!!!
Very good appliance.Makes 4 great waffles in about 10 minutes.I had Black & Deckers 4-in-1 grill and it took about 30 minutes to make 2 waffles. This one is much faster and you can control the temperature.I have been very pleased with all the features on this model. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS AN AWESOME WAFFLE MAKER.
this is the best waffle maker. i just love it. it does everything it says it should do. i got mine at costco for $49.00. i am giving this waffle maker and a can of carbon's waffle mix to everyone on my christmas list.

3-0 out of 5 stars Might be the best home option out there, but .....
it has a few problems. I expected this waffle iron to be more durable, especially as its made of stainless.
5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL Waffle iron!
We recently purchased this awesome waffle iron and boy are we glad we did! This is so easy to use and the waffles are excellent. We had so much fun making our 1st batch; the kids were able to "help" and were thrilled with the results. Highly recommend this to every waffle fan out there. 5-0 out of 5 stars You won't be disappointed
Bought this based on the recomendation of Good Eats. I use AB's basic waffle recipe and adjust the proportions of white and wheat flour to suit my taste that day. The temperature control works best set at 7, except when I make cornbread waffles which come out best set at 5. I initially used non stick spray but found in unnecessary with butter in the recipe. The deep texture of the waffles make them great for holding on to whatever you choose to top them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Waffle Maker!!!
This is truly one of the best waffle makers I have ever used. The temperature control ensures a perfectly cooked waffle every time! Not to mention it's non-stick coating makes it easy to clean, making breakfast preparations and the inevitable cleanup afterwards a snap! I would recommend this waffle maker to anyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes great waffles every time
Round wafflers are better than square ones since pouring batter on the waffler spreads in a circular pattern and evenly fills the area. This is probably why I disliked any square one I bought. We make a lot of waffles and love this waffler. It is consistent in making waffles just the way you like them since you can adjust the browning (making softer or crisper waffles).Well made, reasonable price and wipe-easy clean. Just don't overfill with batter - you'll get the hang of it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great wedding present!
It was on sale, it showed up on time, they loved it.

3-0 out of 5 stars This was a wedding gift purchase
This was not a purchase for myself, it was for a wedding gift that Macy's did not have in stock, so I honestly cannot rate the item, but I can say that it got to my house in the time frame stated.

4-0 out of 5 stars MMMMMM Waffles
I bought this as a Valentine's Day gift and it is great. The only issue is that the handle gets a bit hot. It is really non-stick, the color code works great for telling you when the waffles are done. The waffles do break apart into the heart shaped pieces as soon as you take it out of the maker, so bigger waffles are not too easy to make. It cleans up really fast except for batter and crumbs being stuck in the hinge area. ... Read more

This unusual rotating waffle maker is sure to elicit admiration from brunch guests. Made of brushed stainless steel with black accents, the unit not only looks elegant but cooks professionally. After ladling the batter into the deep nonstick bottom plate, the top is firmly closed. After ten seconds, by means of the insulated handle, the waffle maker is rotated upside down and allowed to cook for the remainder of the required time (recipes and times are included in the user guide). The result: two perfect 1-1/4-inch-thick Belgium waffles, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. A dial features variable browning settings, and two lights indicate when the waffle maker is on and when to add batter. Two curved fixed legs keep the maker upright and a drip tray fits between them to collect any batter overflow. A release button on the handle allows it to collapse for storage. Measuring 7-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches, the cook plates can be wiped clean or conveniently removed and placed in the dishwasher. With the handle collapsed, the waffle maker measures 13 by 8-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches and is covered by a one-year warranty. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Waffles!!
I was very pleased with this waffle iron. To my surprize, the waffles did Not stick to the grills and every waffle came out perfect every time! Infact, just as a test, I made a waffle without any oil or whatever, and it came out great! I also like the unique way the iron rotates and how fast the waffles cook. Clean-up was a breeze as well. For me, this product is worth the price! I only regret not purchasing it the first time around. I had previously purchased another brand of waffle iron.... and what a complete waste of money it was. I have never used Krups products before, but if they make all of their products as well as they make waffle irons, they've got my vote! Thank you for making a such a great product. I am so glad that I purchased this item. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

From whole-wheat waffles with fresh fruit, to buttermilk waffles with syrup, to chocolate waffles with whipped cream, waffles are as decadent or as healthy as you choose to make them. But one thing is constant: the difference between homemade and frozen waffles is like that of sirloin and shoe leather. There's no longer any need to be afraid of making waffles, because Villaware's waffler practically makes them for you, with an auto-light that tells you when to pour the batter and when to remove the waffles, and an auto-thermostat that controls the temperature so you don't waste risky first attempts. To make things even easier, this waffler comes with a recipe book and detailed instructions. The nonstick coating reduces every recipe's fat content, justifying more butter, syrup, and whipped cream later, and a spill trough helps keep the batter spills at bay. Read more

  • Nonstick grids allow lower-fat waffles
  • Auto-light and auto-temperature take guesswork out of waffle making

5-0 out of 5 stars The best waffle Iron I have ever owned!
I love waffles and have been going through these cheaper 20 dollar waffle irons, convinced you cannot make a good waffle at home.Till I read the reviews of this one here and other places, and decided to take the plunge when the price went down a little.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, easy to use, easy to clean
This is a fantastic waffle maker!I purchased a Belgian waffle maker a while ago, not quite realizing what it was. After many burned-on-the-outside-and-raw-in-the-middle attempts with that one, I decided to go out and buy this one.
2-0 out of 5 stars Crispy Critter Waffles
I have used this maker several times and on the lowest temperature setting #1 and the waffles are dark in color, crisp and have a slight burned taste. According to the instructions setting #3 is for golden brown waffles, NOT TRUE!I've been making waffles for years so I know how to operate a waffle maker. My preference is a softer, light golden brown waffle.Needless to say this item will be returned. On the plus side, easy to use, non-stick surface works great!

2-0 out of 5 stars Made good waffles when it worked
This machine worked well for making waffles when it worked. Then, one day it just quit working. It isn't that old so I really didn't expect it to die.

This waffle baker really works. Pour in the batter, close the lid, and flip once--either sideways or front to back--and in five minutes two thick and fluffy Belgian waffles are ready. It's amazing. The flipping creates an air pocket in the center of the waffle that's pure chemistry. There are also several features that make using this device almost foolproof (though there is a slight learning curve). A well-written recipe book is included that provides some delicious waffle recipes and great baking tips, even if you're using a prepackaged mix. The indicator light is also great: it turns green when the baker is ready for the batter, eliminating guesswork. And the nonstick surface is super--when your waffles are done (five minutes is a good benchmark, and the lid should lift easily), they peel off the grid smoothly. Cleanup is easy, too. A covered hinge and a batter channel prevent messy spills, and the nonstick surface wipes clean with a sponge or a soft brush. Best of all, the waffle baker stores upright. All in all, this is a dandy addition to any kitchen. Read more

  • Fast-flip design makes thick, restaurant-style Belgian waffles

  • Cool touch handle and indicator lights

4-0 out of 5 stars Light 'n' fluffy waffle maker but won't last
I bought this for my brother and his wife after reading all the rave reviews and noting the favorable price point (~$20), demanding Sunday waffle breakfasts whenever I came to town.Once we figured out (after 5 trials) that the cooking time should be no more than 3 minutes (unlike the 10min acc to instructions), it didn't disappoint - even healthy 'n' heavy, multigrain waffle batter turned out light and fluffy. And then it up and died a couple months later - I figure the reason why it cooked so fast must have been the reason for its quick demise.Either way, a great deal for quick, fluffy pancakes - about to buy them another! ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE this waffle iron!!!!
I just received this Waffle Iron as a birthday gift yesterday, and since I have houseguests, decided to bite the bullet and whip up a full waffle breakfast. I read the instructions (easy to understand) and decided to go the whole 9 yards and use the basic batter recipe from the book included...I'd never made waffles from scratch and only used a inferior iron once before, so I was a little nervous...Except for the first two that I overcooked,(2 1/2 to 3 minutes seemed to be the optimum cook time for this iron) this iron and the recipe were PHENOMENAL!!! I'd give it 10 stars if possible...It really couldn't have been easier to use, and clean...and the recipe I used tasted delicious! I really didn't expect them to look as good as the pic on the box, or taste that good, but they did and I am VERY pleased with this gift...and the fact that it stores upright is a huge bonus for me, I have a tiny kitchen with some odd narrow cabinets that this fits in perfectly!
5-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be more pleased!!
I have to agree with the almost 100 other reviews, mostly 5 stars, already written about this wonderful appliance.I cannot speak for longevity, but I can tell you that this appliance is the most used item in our kitchen, short of the coffee maker. We even grill sandwiches in it!As far as sticking, I have discovered that if I spray a little cooking spray (5 seconds' worth) into a 1/4 cup measuring cup and use a silicon basting brush to spread the spray on the waffle iron's "bumps," nothing sticks. You need not brush the spray into the "valleys."You must do this between each addition of new batter to the waffle maker. And brushing rather than spraying doesn't make a mess on your countertop or on the waffle maker.

Editorial Review

We've all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But too often we grab the easiest thing available instead of something with real nutritional value and flavor. Waffles, especially when made with whole-grain flour, are an extremely easy way to start the day on the right foot. The Morning Baker Belgian waffle iron takes the edge off morning hunger. It heats quickly, lets you know when it's ready, and cooks waffles in only a few minutes--take that time to slice some fruit to top them with. Cleaning up is easy, too, since the nonstick grilling surface wipes clean with a damp sponge or paper towel. The whole iron can be stored either horizontally or vertically, depending on space limitations. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, inexpensive, and just as good as fancy models
This is a great waffle maker.I also have the previous model, the 26400 (red one). This is different in only 2 ways. The cord is a 3 prong on the 26500 (Blue one), and the griddle area is much deeper now, thus it is now a BELGIAN waffle maker.
3-0 out of 5 stars Cleaning is not that easy
I have this wafflemaker, and it works great - fast and easy. But when it comes to cleaning up - it is a mess. You cannot remove the irons and wash them, so the only option is wiping all those nooks and crannies with a paper towel - and you will have to wait for a while before the unit cools off. I hate to use this thing because of clean up involved. The batter does not stick to the irons, but anyway after wiping you can see it is not completly clean and dry. I would prefer removable irons.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great waffle baker and a great price.
I bought this waffle baker because of the reviews and because of the price. So many out there just cost way to much and you have no idea how good they are. I am so happy with this one. I have used it alot since I got it and it does work wonderful. I lightly grease it before pouring the batter with butter then follow instructions for how long to cook. It is perfect every time. In the recipe book I used the weekend waffle and they are awesome. I re-did the recipe once I saw how good the recipe they had was and how great the waffle baker worked by replaceing reg all purpose with oat flour and it was soooooo good and healthy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great waffle iron
The waffle iron works great. It takes some adjusing to the baking powder amount in the recipe and how you position the batter on the iron to minimize the overflow of batter because the grid is not the conventional square.Love the audible beep when it up to temperature and finished with the waffle.

This dandy waffler is a hoot and turns out perfect waffles every time. The clever ready light signals when the waffler is ready for the batter and again when the waffle is cooked just right, so there's no guesswork. The waffler also comes with a terrific little booklet that gives clear directions and some tasty recipes to get you started. It should only take you a waffle or two to get the hang of how much batter to pour into the grid and how to smooth it evenly over Mickey's face and ears. To lift out a perfect Mickey, be sure to loosen the ears first and work down the waffle from there. And always flip it over onto a plate: the bottom of the waffle is Mickey's best side. When your waffle feast is done, cleanup is a snap; the silicone nonstick surface really works. If a bit of batter does stick, just dab on some cooking oil and leave the waffler overnight. The next day it will wipe clean with a paper towel. The waffler was designed to stand on end for convenient storage, but we think it's a knockout and should be displayed on the kitchen counter for all to see. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars loved it
It makes great waffles. They taste really good and look so so cute.By following the instructions they come out as a perfect Mickey every time.If I could go back the only difference in my purchase would be to buy the one that makes more than one mickey at a time. It's slow to only make one waffle at a time, but I knew that when I bought it so that was my fault.Other than that, a great purchase that always brings a smile to my kids faces.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for kids... defective lamp on top is a pain...
We recently purchased the VillaWare Mickey's Waffler as a replacement to a similar unit we had bought in 1995 and used for many years. This unit is similar in design and has a nice, deep waffle mold that makes consistent, thick Mickey waffles. The only problem I have encountered is that the red light on the top of the unit (tells you when waffle is done) is poorly designed and arrived broken out of the box. The light is a comprised of a white lamp covered by a small red lens. The lens clips into the stainless steel cover and arrived broken from the vendor. We reported the defect and sent it back. Amazon quickly sent us a replacement unit and when it arrived... that one had a broken lens, as well! I would assume that ALL the units will have this same problem. The good news is that it does not affect the operation of the waffle maker as long as you are careful when cleaning the surface and do not get any water in the lamp area. The only thing broken is the red lens that covers the lamp. The lamp actually works fine without the red lens.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
It really works good and it's fun to use. The waffles come out just right and I love it. ... Read more

Nothing beats the caramel aroma and fresh flavor of home-baked wafflecones, and this appliance makes one in about two minutes. And, because it hasinstant temperature recovery, it makes cone after cone without delay. The bakingprocess itself averages about 90 seconds, depending on the degree of browningrequired. A color-control dial makes that personal-taste choice easy to select.Accompanying the waffle-cone maker is a plastic cone-rolling form. Illustratedinstructions show how easily it's done, and recipes provide the remaininginformation needed to become a master cone maker. The nonstick waffle platesmeasure 7 inches in diameter and clean with the swipe of a cloth. Overall, the1,000-watt appliance measures 8-3/4 inches wide, 3-1/4 inches high, and 10inches deep. It carries a one-year warranty against defects. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars waffle iron for cones and more
I really liked this machine. It is so simple to use and the cones were a no brainer. I think that I will be making more cookies than cones though! I am already working with recipes for italian or christmas cookies....

2-0 out of 5 stars God dag!
I used to make these during "kakelinna" (time in Norway when Christmas baking begins) with my "farmor" (paternal grandmother).I still have my grandmother's old cast iron krumkake iron and after trying this one, I will never deviate from the traditional iron again.Christmas baking in Norway isn't about making a lot and saving time, it's about family.Although the older ones take longer (but taste better), it is a great time to reflect. If you have the energy to use a traditional one, I recommend it...the cookies are temporary, memories are forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT product!!!
This item is fantastic!!Having just tried Krumkake this past May while visiting family in Alaska, we were excited to come home and try to make them ourselves. They are similar to Pizelles, but better. We couldn't wait for this maker to arrive and made krumkake the very next day. They were so good.We would recomend this item to anyone who ever tried krumkake and wants to relive thay wonderful memory at home!!

Editorial Review

This dandy waffler is a hoot and turns out four perfect waffles every time. The clever ready light signals when the waffler is ready for the batter and again when the waffle is cooked just right, so there's no guesswork. The waffler also comes with a terrific little booklet that gives clear directions and some tasty recipes to get you started. These waffles would be a perfect treat for a children's birthday party. For storage, just stand the waffler on its side and tuck it into a cupboard. Or display it on a shelf--we think it's too nifty to hide! Read more

Makes perfect waffles and it's simple to use and clean. The only thing that would make it better would be for it to beep when they're ready rather than just turning a light off.

This Mickey waffle maker is GREAT!!!It makes four miniature Mickey face waffles that are the perfect size for my children.(Age 8, 5 & 2)This is perfect because everyone, including Dad, can start eating at the same time while the next batch cooks.(Something you can't do with the bigger one!)My kids love them so much that I make a big batch on the weekends & freeze them to pop in the toaster & warm up during the week.

Delicate, lacy designs and subtle sweetness make pizzelles excellent accompaniments to a rich coffee or cappuccino. With intricate patterns, these 3-inch cookies look difficult to make, but a child would have a great time printing them out: you just pour in the batter, close the lid, remove, and enjoy. A ready-light tells you when the baker is ready, and a steam guard protects hands. For added sophistication, pizzelles can be shaped into cones or cups when they're still warm--try filling a fluted pizzelle with liquor-flavored whipped cream for a more decadent dessert. The pizzelle baker comes with instructions and enough recipes to transform your kitchen into a sweet-smelling Italian bakery. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Lasted 3 years
I bought this waffle maker at a kitchen store for $70, so Amazon's price looks pretty good. The unit heats up quickly and uniformly. The non-stick coating (probably this unit's best feature) works very well with many different batters. While the "quick" setting is fast, if you're like me, and want the waffle cooked through, you'll have to use the "deep" setting, which takes a good bit longer (it's still faster than the rate at which I consume waffles).
1-0 out of 5 stars I purchased the lemon
After reading customer reviews, I decided that this was the waffle maker for me. I don't use one much, but the second time I used this one, it began to smoke and the smell was awlful. It took me two days to get that smell out of the house. So after reading the other reviews, I just guess I brought the bad one.

This nearly foolproof waffle iron makes it easy to fix decadent, kid-beloved breakfast waffles. This appliance forms Belgian style waffles, arguably the best kind, with extra-deep pockets to fill with butter and syrup or yogurt and fruit. Its auto-thermostat is alert with a light when the iron is ready for filling; the same light again indicates when the waffle is ready to be eaten, while the nonstick grids turn out individual, nicely cooked treats with very little effort. This chrome-plated iron can be put away flat or standing upright, so it fits in almost any kitchen cupboard. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars VillaWare Classic Belgin Waffler
Great waffle maker! It has an annoying loud beep when it is ready, but otherwise it makes terrific waffles.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really, really like it
I bought this waffler back in February and waited until now to submit my review. Before buying this one, I bought and returned a couple of different ones (other brands). This waffler has a substantial feel - it doesn't have an overly wiggly top that screams "cheap".I love the dial that lets you choose how done you'd like your waffle.Being a social (sometimes inattentive) cook, I churn out more than my fair share of overly-done items, so I love the chirp that tells me the waffle is done.It is loud enough to be heard a couple of rooms away but not so loud as it wakes the entire house.I love the waffle recipes that come in the manual. At first the waffler sticks a bit, but I've come to realize that that is only for a short time until the grids have seasoned.Even though the grids are non-stick, I do find it easier to spray them down initially and then usually a quick spray to the lower one every other waffle. The texture of the waffles is wonderful - lightly crispy with large squares to hold lots of syrup or (even better) fruit! You won't be disappointed with this purchase.(The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I feel 6 months is not enough time to comment on it's longevity - but certainly, so far so good!)

4-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Teflon Coating
Although this is a nice compact waffle maker, the recipes that come with it produce dry, tasteless waffles that stick terribly even with nonstick spray after each one. No overflow protection, so if too much batter is used, it overflows and creates a huge mess on the unit, shelf, floor, etc. The recipe by a reviewer here is MUCH better and produces great waffles... with a LOT of spray between each waffle. The teflon used is not very slippery. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A piece of junk
I'm astonished at the good reviews this appliance has accrued, the primary reason that I bought it. It's possible that mine was a dud but just about everything was wrong with it. Once you plug the appliance in, the red light is supposed to go on. Mine never did. The appliance smoked so heavily that the smoke alarm went off in the apartment. The manual warns of "slight smoke and odor" upon first use. The smoking never stopped. Since I had already taken the trouble and prepared a waffle mix, I decided to remain undaunted. The green light is supposed to go on when the waffle/sandwich maker is pre-heated. Mine did not go on. 20 minutes later, with smoke billowing all around I decided that the green light was not about to give me the go ahead and I should assume that the appliance had pre-heated. Somewhat daunted but still determined (with the family now desperate for breakfast) I decided to lay on the mixture. No lights to tell me when I could expect results, no automatic shut-off switch, so 2 minutes later I opened the lid and peered inside. Nada. Nothing. Still runny. I shut the contraption and waited again. I lifted the lid on and off several times over a period of 10 minutes. Finally the waffles looked done so I tried to prise them off. Sorry! The waffle maker seemed too fond of its waffles to give them up.I took a sharp knife to them and and tried to yank them off. I was rewarded with waffle shreds. I tried to lift off the waffle pan entirely so I could attack it in a more convenient location. Instead, it attacked me. What looks like safety handles on the sides are not safety handles at all. OUCH! Burns! Yeah, if I wasn't so dignified, I'd be sueing a particular company. Bruised, hurting and irritated, I was still not about to give up. I allowed the pans to cool. I washed them out. I doused them (literally) with cooking spray. I tried again. This time it worked. The waffles tasted fine except by now it was lunch and I'd already depletedthe mixture in failed attempts. It still took about 10 mins to bake 2 waffles...I'm returning the appliance to Amazon today. I'd love to pay more and get a really high-end waffle/sandwich maker but there seems to be nothing in the market. The way to go is to buy separate gadgets methinks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
It works very well. Removable plates is a BIG plus.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice, but not perfect.
Out of 7 breakfasts a week we have pocket sandwiches at least 3-4 times, so i guess we like it. ut it took us time to learn to make goog sandwiches without hot cheese floating onto the counter top, as we like to put a tol of stuff iside. It's pretty easy to clean ( unless you have melted cheese all over the counter), so i would say it's a very useful thing in out kitchen. The ony thing i hate about it - it doesn't have on/off switch and plugging/unplugging the cord is really annoying. Oher than that - very good, would recommend. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Waffle Iron!
This waffle iron is fabulous! I have never had waffles that are so light and airy! And it tells you when they are done. It took me a couple of tries to get the right amount in - about 3/4 cup, and I'm still playing with the timing adjustment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Waffles!
We were so glad to finally see a small waffle maker - great for small families. We had perfect waffles the very first time!We tried different heat settings and found that "almost 4" was best. We made the "waffle mix" recipe that came with the iron - so quick and easy to have totally made from scratch waffles. This iron is easy to store (stands on it's side) and to clean. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the metal sides of the handle can get very hot to the touch, so one must use caution when opening the iron while it is hot. But, it nonetheless a very good waffle maker and I recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am very happy with this purchase
This waffle baker is great. Waffles bake with deep pockets. My former waffle baker made a mess everytime I use it. Not with this one. The beep sound to let you know the baker is ready and the waffles too it's a great aid. Also the waffles don't stick to the surface and are very easy to remove once they are done. For the price this is a great deal. ... Read more
