Great Product - Saves Money
I've really been enjoying my food saver.I didn't really think it would save money overall but it defintely is.It keeps meat and vegetables very fresh tasting even after a significant time in the freezer.I don't have to throw away more pork chops that got lost in the bottom of the freezer and suffered significant freezer burn.I also find you can re-use the bags (from non raw meat storage) if you cut them appropriately so that's not a total waste either.Great product, helps me save money and is easy to use and pretty minimal storage size too.

Doesn't Last
I am now on my 3rd foodsaver in six or seven years. While they are working properly they are great. After about two years, they always seem to stop drawing a vaccuum. The vaccuum pump will run and run but it will not draw a vaccuum. With all the freezing my family does we will continue to keep replacing them because the quality of the vegetables is extended by well over a year. It's worth it to us to replace them every two years. I just wish Tilia would build one at reasonable price that would last about five years.

Died after three weeks
For the first three weeks I was very happy with this product. It sealed both bags and canisters quickly and efficiently.

A must have in the kitchen
I love this product!This is my second FoodSaver I've had in the last 4 years.The first one stopped working properly after 3 years so I purchased this one and I LOVE IT!I recommend this FoodSaver to all my friends and those who have bought it like it too.
Great Product
I had been wanting to purchase a food saver for over a year, so I finally decided to go with this model since it matched my kitchen. With the $25 discount from amazon and free shipping I got a really good deal. The only thing I have found wrong with this product is the guides that hold the suction line for storage will not stay on. A small drop of super glue solved this problem for both, therefore I rate this product as a five star.

Foodsavers are the best invention of the 20th century along with the foodsaver bags, especially up here in Alaska where we put away a lot of meat and fish.

Food Saver Rolls
I like to save money by buying in bulk and portioning out foods for each meal.It cuts down on defrosting time of chicken, fish, steak, hamburger, etc., by wrapping individually instead of in one big lump. My 4 yr. old Tilia Food Saver is still working fantastic at keeping freezer burn off my frozen meats and fish. I'm thinking about upgrading to a newer Tilia but just can't discard a perfectly good machine yet.

Great price for these rolls
You can't beat this price for these rolls. If you own the machine, you'll want more of the bags to seal and store, for sure. This is the best price I could find on this product.

These Are Okay, But I Like the 11" Better
The basic concept appears sound.Smaller foods need smaller width bags.However, in practice we rarely use the 8 inch width.There are a few things that fit better in the 8 inch width, but considering that almost everything that we routinely use in the kitchen will fit in the 11 inch width, we tend to use that width most of the time.
rolls vs. bags
The 8x11.5" quart bags are more convenient to use, but I figured the 8" x 22' rolls would be more cost-effective.As it turns out, the rolls (at $18.69 for 44 bags' worth - assuming a foot per use) are slightly more expensive than the bags (at $18 for 48), so you might as well get the bags.As for being able to use more or less as needed, I've found that I can re-seal or re-use the bags, thus leaving me an assortment of available sizes when I've used their previous contents.It is occasionally useful to have larger sizes, so I would recommend purchasing the bags in the quart size & the rolls in the larger 11" x 18' to give a wide range of useful applications. ... good customer service
I haven't had this item long enough yet to speak to usage.I bought mine and did not receive the hose. The customer service rep I spoke to was very kind and did not in any way give me a hard time.I just wanted to bring this up because I'd heard bad things about their customer service, and that was not my experience at all.
Awesome Product!
This vacuum sealer costs a little more but is definitely worth every penny!I started out with a cheaper sealer and it started out great for the first couple months then went downhill from there.So I bit the bullet and bought the Foodsaver and I'm so glad I did.This sealer is great for those like myself who want to use it on a regular basis.It has a sleeker look as well with flat buttons rather than raised ones.Plus, I like that I have control over the speed of the vacuum and can choose between moist or dry foods.The moist food option affects the sealing time only.It will still suck moisture in so you still need to be careful of that but the sealing time will be longer because of the extra moisture where the seal is.If you choose this product I highly recommend purchasing the jar sealer.You can vacuum seal anything in mason jars and it is so much cheaper than the expensive foodsaver containers.Overall great product and worth the extra price for the frequent user!Highly recommend!!

Love them, but cracking is definitely an issue!
I have been using Foodsaver canisters for just over one year now, and I own quite a few, of varying sizes.A good percentage of them have cracked over that period of time.(I hand wash the bottoms, wipe out the lids as directed, no temperature extremes, no abuse.They just crack in my pantry.)Normally, experiencing this (repeatedly) would be enough for me to swear off a product and never mess with it again, but when they're working, they work really well, and I have to say that Tilia's customer service stands behind these canisters.They have cheerfully replaced every single one that's mysteriously cracked. (I did not ask them to replace the one my husband dropped and destroyed!)Because they've given me no hassles about replacing their canisters, I have little hesitation about continuing to purchase their products.My recommendation is to keep a record somewhere of the date and place of purchase for your canisters; they'll want this information if you call for a replacement.The warranty period is one year; when they send a replacement, it's guaranteed for a year too.

I was very unhappy with this product.I ordered several cannisters and 3 out of 5 cracked after the first use!!!I did everything that they recommended and they all cracked in the same manner.The people at Foodsaver were very happy to replace them because they are under "warranty" but I am surprised to see how fragile this product is.FYI, they will not warranty the products sold on E-Bay.I should have listened to the reviews and not taken a chance on this product.

No problems for over a year
I don't know how I ever got by without a Foodsaver before.I bought mine over a year ago, along with extra canisters, and I've had no problems so far.I was surprised to see so many reviews about cracked containers - all of mine are fine, and I use them often!I only handwash them, like the directions say, so maybe that's helped prolong their life.The whole system is great; the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's so expensive (accessories too)! ... Doesn'tVacuum Seal Very Well
I recieved the FoodSaver Vaccuum Seal system as a gift along with two 11" continous roll bags.They worked great but were kind of big for some of the food that I was trying to vacuum and seal so I bought the premade package of 48 quart size bags.I have had nothing but issues with those bags since I got them.They will not vacuum and seal correctly.When I make my own bag with the continious roll material the vacuum and seal works great but not with the quart bags.Even when I have tried both types on the same night, the continious self made bag works the quart bag does not.The vacuum system works well but the quart bags do not.They look and feel like they are made from the same material.The only difference is that the quart bags are about half the width of the 11" bags and they don't stretch across the whole vacuum seal area like the 11" bags do but the manufacturer does mark-off where the optimum vacuum seal area is so you can make sure your bag covers that area and the quart bag does stretch across that area but still will not vacuum and seal.I am just going to buy the 11" roll and make my own bags.

Fast for marinating....
I have only used it a few times so far but it has always worked well. I do only hand wash it after reading previous reviews so that could be helping it stay in good shape. It seems like I never have alot of time when I am ready to grill so this product works well for time saving. It gives the meat great flavor in a short amount of time marinating.

Great concept, but canister needs to be redesigned.
I have had four of these, and three have failed.The first two developed cracks, and I suspect that the dishwasher, in which I only washed the bottom part of the marinator as advised, warped and weakened them.After buying two more, the first two having been relegated to the potting shed as seed-starters, I have handled them with kid gloves so to speak, (no dishwasher), and the seal on one fails to hold for even a few hours.So far, so good with the fourth one.Whoopee. These are not cheap items, and even if they were less costly, a 75% failure rate is quite unacceptable.If they really functioned as they should, they would be fabulous for not only marinating in short order, but storing other items as well.All the round canisters and the wide-mouth jar sealer work exceedingly well, but I'll not buy any more "marinators" until there is a successful improvement in design.

This jar sealer attachment fits on pint- and quart-sized Mason jars and is for use with any FoodSaver machine that has an accessory port. WORKS GREAT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT
This jar sealer is a necessity if you have a Foodsaver!Much cheaper than using those expensive canisters and it keeps your food fresh!There's nothing better than opening a jar and hearing the whoosh of air going in!Lets you know it's fresh!For all of those reviewers who had problems with it sealing, I have a tip that should eliminate those sealing problems.When you seal the jar put TWO mason lids on top, one on top of the other.Then seal the jar.The top lid should pop right off and the bottom lid will be vacuumed tight and secure! (If the top lid doesn't come off right away, just give it a few hours and it will come loose.)Not sure why it works this way, but it does!For those jars that you seal for longer than a week I would recommend checking the seal every once and a while.I have had a jar lose it's vacuum a time a two. BUT a great majority of the time it remains sealed.Highly recommend!

Ineffective
I had hoped to use this with Mason jars to greatly expand my available vacuum storage for crushable/bulk items, without paying the high price for the containers. But it doesn't actually work, even when you think it does.

Worked for a whole 2 months
I bought this product based on the reviews here.So now it's time for my own.This canister only lasted 2 months before it developed a crack on the bottom and no longer works.I don't see any warranty information here so I guess I'm out of luck.Buyer beware.
Sealed to perfection and make them last longer
At first I thought I wouldn't be able to decide what to use this for, but right away I remembered that I just bought a six pack of onion rolls and they always seemed to have to be frozen and were just not the same later or went moldy in the fridge, so I vacuum sealed them in this and they were good to the last one with no flavor change at all.Yummy! ;7)

Flawless re-usable bags
These bags and all of the Foodsaver brand bags are flawless. The only way they would fail is if they are being used wrong. If you do Ebay you can get these same 32 count gallon bags for about $10.99 + $5.50 for shipping. And sometimes you can find a seller that will combine shipping for multiple boxes. I purchaced 3 boxes of gallon 32 cnt bags for $32.97 + $9.00 for shipping. Also keep in mind that you can wash and re-use these bags as long as they did not hold any kind of meat and that they have never been boiled. I have used them multiple times for things like corn on the cob.

Best thing every invented for food storage
The best hint I can give you is to put any wet foods, such as meats in the bags and place them in the freezer for an hour or so before you seal them.This will inhibit the juices from the meats from being vacuumed up to the top where the seal is, subsequently interfering with the seal. It's also a lot neater. I've owned a foodsaver for at least 3 years.I've enjoyed the results of this product so much that I've bought 3 more as presents.They too have been very happy with the products.I particulary enjoy the foodsaver cannisters for fresh fruits and produce.

draw backs
in order to get the vacuum to work you need to press lightly the place where it say s to press.Sometimes it does not vacuum well and need to do again.it just takes a while to get use to but it does work and the vacuum is very strong so anything other than food,eg, paper will shribble up, you need to add a firm backing for it not to curl up.

Time and money saving
This is a great product.Simple to use and very efficient.Able to use right out of the box - instructions are on the product and easy to follow.Highly recommended.

Starts Great, Falters quickly
I do alot of fishing and felt this would help me save fish easier and longer. Dry food storage
Love this system, especially the mason jar feature.I can utilize my mason jars for all kinds of dry goods and get fresher results than just screwing on the lid.Great if you harvest your own herbs and such!

I like MOST of this Set....the canisters crack!!
We bought one for Christmas and love the food sealer.We also bought this kit.We loved everything EXCEPT the canisters. All the canisters have cracked.So far, still holding the seal, but they are getting progressively worse, so it's just a matter of time.These aren't exactly cheap, so I think it's safe to say that we should expect bettter.If you read the review for the 3-piece canister set, you will see extensive complaints about the cannisters.

Probably defective from the start.
I've used these type of units all the time until I got my own.It stopped sealing, and I haven't had a chance to use up the bags that came with it!When I called, they said it was probably the heat tape that went bad and they can't fix it.They offered to sell me a new one though!I have no idea where my receipt is (my fault).I have to have another one, so I'm going to buy the cheapest one so I don't feel so bad when I have to replace it in 6 months to a year.

Don't buy this
I got my canister as part of my original purchase of a food saver.With in a matter of weeks it was cracking.It became useless because of the cracks.When I emailed them to complain I was told I had to call it in to their service desk. I explained that due to a recent injury I can't talk. That I needed to use email, TTY or instant messing. I was told that I should get a neighbor, friend or family member to call. I'm checking the laws to see if that is a violation of the law. I believe it is a violation of the handy access law.But it doesn't matter it's just wrong.I will never buy another and you shouldn't.

Terrific canisters, I just ordered a few more. Some reviewers complain that they crack easily, but mine are holding up well after 1 year of daily use. Although not "dishwasher safe" my husband ran them through the dishwasher anyway(top shelf) without causing damage.

Amazing Jar Vac
I got this thing thinking "How can it work well?"It came today. I had 7 jars, 6 Ball canning and 1 open salsa.I started with the Ball jars.I did 1 and then opened it to see how good the vacuum was.I was pleasantly surprised to find I had to get a utensil and pry the top off of the quart jar.I did the rest of the jars ~ large, medium and small.All were quite well sealed.This thing really works!

Waste of money
My wife was so excited when she recieved her JarVac.She was trying to vanuum seal everything.The problem was that it was very dificult to get a good on the jars.Sometimes they would look sealed but the next day when you pull the jar out it was no longer sealed.We sent the first on back hoping tha the second one would have more power.It was worse than the first.

Save Money on Leftovers, etc.
I just purchased the Deni 1200 JarVac and if I could give it 10 Stars I would.I have used the JarVac just a few days and I'm very impressed with this unit.I resealed Marinara sauce in the orginal bottle.I have thrown away so much lettuce and salad mix in the past due to not using it fast enough before it turned brown,I opened a new package, took out what I needed, put the rest of the bag in a bowl and resealed it with my new JarVac.I'm happy to say I expect to save a bundle of money by using the JarVac.I also have a food saver and use it also to reseal food, cheese, etc. It is well worth the money! ... Great Product_Great Company
I just want to say I am not sure why the person who lost a piece of the product in her (Dawn Ulepich "Dawnski337" (Illinois)) haste is criticizing the company for a bad product. I have only had one problem ever with a Rival product and when I called the company, they immediately sent a new product out to take care of the problem even though it was not a product problem but rather a handling problem. I have found that they are a more than fair company and will take care of their customers. They probably would have even taken care of replacement of the plastic part (even though she lost it). It is not fair to penalize the store from which it was bought or the company that produced it because of her carelessness.
