Very useful kitchen tool - solid construction and handy!
OXO makes good gear and this set of tongs is both comfortable and built well.The plastic handle keeps the end from getting too hot when stirring pasta or other work where it's exposed to heat for a long time.

Oxo tongs are great!
I use the 12 inch steel AND 12 inch nylon head tongs in the kitchen all the time. They make is very easy to open and close, easy to grip all kinds of food, easy to clean, and easy to store. I use the 16 inch steel tongs on the grill with all the same praises.
My favorite tongs
I've been cooking a LONG time, some 30+ years and these are my fav's. The nylon head holds up in the heat, just don't abuse them by leaving them in the bottom of a flaming hot pan, come on use common sense. And I love the quick/smooth reacting tab to open the tongs. I bump them against my knee or the counter and they open neatly, not snapping open like others. AND I like how they close, very, very easy to pull with your teeth. I know that sounds weird, but you'd do it too! It is gentle and I like using both hands for...whatever. They handle like...a BMW.Enjoy!

They broke after first use yet oxo hooked me up with new ones

Broke after 2 uses
These tongs seemed like a good deal when I bought them but after 2 uses the spring popped out and cut my finger.

Tongs. Yes, I know, you can get tongs anywhere. Well, let me tell you, I have used countless pairs of "nice" and "professional" grill tongs through the years and nothing has held up like my Oxo tongs. This is by far one of the most important tools in your grilling arsenal...at least outside of your grill and maybe the beer you should be drinking while using your grill.

Constructed of one piece of nylon bent into an open shape. The design prevents one half of the tong from eventually not meeting up with its counterpart (twisting or racking), or falling apart from frequen use (like metal tongs made of 2 tongs and a spring).

Super Basic But Spot On.
These tongs retain the timeless stamped metal feel of the equivalent from restaurants and canteens we all know.
One of the best!
I love these tongs - they do just about anything I put them to use for and just come out wonderful.The cleanup is great - they go through the dishwasher in a breeze and nothing sticks.These are great for flipping fish, pasta, you name it and they're there.They don't grab too much, thus preventing food from tearing.And, we won't even mention how much fun they are for a three-year-old to run around the house with grabbing whatever is in his path!They definitely take a beating, whacking, you name it and they look brand new.They are just beautiful to use as a serving piece and if they can take all that heavy duty beating by a boy, then you know they're worth the money!

This is great for cooking when you don't want to pierce your meat, and for flipping things quickly and easily.The only thing I'm not completely happy about is that there isn't a whole lot of grip at the end (for teeth or holding on to the food).It's long enough to use for almost anything, and it cleans easily.It has a locking handle, so you just pull the black thing at the top, and they automatically lock closed for storage.Nice thick steel, and overall, a really nice product. ... Good Tongs.
I really like these tongs, although as mentioned in another review some things will slide out due to slickness. However, I use these tongs more than any other. I like the fact that you can close for storage! I would definately buy again.

Will protect your pans, silicon could use a little better grip
These tongs are definitely sturdy, and the silicon coating will help protect your pans.I've used these for a couple weeks and the only drawback is that the silicon can sometimes be too slick to really grab onto food.It's more of a problem when the food is in water (like pasta).

TONGS WERE DEFECTIVE
The spring on these tongs broke on first use, in September, 2006.This renders them largely useless. I purchased the tongs after reading manufacturer assurances dated many months ago that the spring problem had been repaired.Despite this assurance, I am here to tell you that a pair shipped recently is still defective.I returned them, and I cannot recommend these tongs.

Poor Spring Design
We took a chance on these for part of a Father's Day gift and the piece of metal that acts as a spring broke after only 1 use. After reading the reviews I called the company instead of returning for a refund. They were very nice and sent out another one. This one just broke - exactly like the other one - after about a month of use. The overall design of the tongs is great like other Raichlen products but the construction is severely lacking. Don't waste your money on this model.

Not bad
I have another set of barbecue tongs which are similar to these but have a sturdier release.However, these seem to work fine and overall I'm happy with them.They are just a little more difficult to operate one-handed than my other set.

Look nice, but not so functional.
The tongs look very nice, but in general are not as good as others that I've used.The tongs flex quite a bit and as a result, make it difficult to pick things up.I prefer AMCO brand tongs, which are much sturdier and cheaper (if that is an issue).

I like 'em (now)
I own a lot of All Clad.These are certainly as beautiful as the rest, but not as well designed.With that said, I like them.These do take some getting used to -- they are heavy and the spring mechanism does not work as smoothly as the one on the OXO tongs (I have those too.)

They are acceptable as one can use them w/ non-stick cookware. They were the only tongs I was able to find for use w/ non-stick cookware, when I ordered them last year. Don't know how I managed without it
