Editorial Review

Great for the kitchen, workout room, or home shop, this small digital clock/timer is useful in counting down cooking time, timing circuit training exercises, or tracking paint or wood glue drying time. No bigger than the palm of a hand, the timer is magnetized to stick to a refrigerator or stovetop or, alternatively, hangs via a clip or mounts onto a table with its wire stand. The large 0.7-inch LCD screen is easy to read and displays the current time in hours and minutes. When set for timing, the instrument displays in minutes and seconds and times up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds, which is ideal for monitoring cook times on dishes that require slow cooking, such as braised meats. The timer counts either up or down and emits a beeping noise when time has elapsed, which is easily turned off by pressing the Start/Stop button. The timer runs on a single AAA battery (included), and Taylor ensures complete accuracy in its readings through a one-year limited warranty. Read more

Features

  • Operates as a timer; water resistant
  • Counts up or down between 99 minutes and 59 seconds
  • Large 0.7-inch LCD readout
  • Clip/magnet/stand positioning
  • AAA battery included; 1-year limited warranty

5-0 out of 5 stars For the price, nothing beats it
Ok, I've owned this timer for about 2 years now. My daughter dropped it, actually, let me rephrase that, THREW it on the floor numerous times from her highchair.
1-0 out of 5 stars bad quality
It's bad quality because the the protective tape on the display cannot be removed and the battery cover at the back cannot be pushed in its proper place. It is also not easy to use. Resetting the timer is too much trouble, you have to go over all the way until you reach 99 minutes and start from 0 to set new minutes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good enough
It does its job, it was designed for. The only bad thing is , on the front of the package it said it had a clock feature, I can't figure out how to use this feature. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for in the kitchen
I use this alarm in the kitchen and not for other things, so I can't comment on it in other capacities. As a kitchen timer, it's been absolutely perfect. It's easy to use and comes in two modes: an hour/minute mode, and also a minute/second mode. It's loud enough so that I can hear it anywhere in my apartment, though my apartment is pretty small. The best part, though, is that it has a magnetic backing so that you can stick it to your fridge (and it really sticks well) and press the buttons with it still on the fridge. If you prefer to not have it on the fridge, there's a little metal thing in the back that pops up so that you can stand the timer up.

2-0 out of 5 stars not loud enough
It won't wake you up. It has a very soft beep, and the vibration is easy to sleep through.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great timer!Flashes, vibrates & beeps!
This timer is a great tool to keep me on track in the office. The vibrate and flash modes are exactly what I needed, and I love that they can be used alone or in combination with each other. It has a clip on back so that it can stand on a desk or counter. Also has a magnet so it could be placed on the refrigerator.Great product, great price! ... No more burned cakes from a timer that couldn't be heard in the next room. This model not only has an extra-loud alarm but extra-big digits, so you can read it from afar. Easy to use, the timer simply has a start/stop button and two buttons for minutes and seconds. The timer counts either up or down, so it can be used as a stopwatch, with 100 minutes as the max. From a countdown mode, once the timer hits zero it begins counting up, so you know how much time has elapsed just in case you do miss the ring. Read more

Features

  • Extra-large digits can be read from across the room
  • Loud alarm can be heard in another part of the house
  • Counts up or down; automatically counts up after 0
  • Pocket clip, magnet, and stand allow multiple uses
  • Set for up to 100 minutes; 1 AAA battery included

5-0 out of 5 stars Great timer!!!
I've been using mine almost daily for cooking and/or laundry, and it is still running off the original battery after more than 6 months. The one small criticism that I have is that the buttons are too easily pushed, and I can't stick it in my pocket without stopping it or changing the setting somehow.Other than that, it's ALL good...

4-0 out of 5 stars No frills but does the job
It's cheap, it's huge, and it counts down and up. This is exactly what I needed. I use it for music practice - it has a magnet on the back and sticks right to my music stand. Nice, big buttons so it's easy to pause or add time. Big display so it doesn't have to be right in front of you. And decently loud alarm so you can hear it when you're playing. I even dropped it onto a wood floor and, although I spent some time finding the scattered parts, it still works. 4 stars instead of 5 because it has NO OTHER FEATURES whatsoever - not even a normal clock - but definitely a good purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly as Described
Large numbers, easy to see, simplicity of use, counts up or down, portable, good value - what more do you need. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for slow barbeque
The Polder is an excellent device, especially for a slow barbeque when opening the grill dissipates heat.Only fault is that whe I accidently left it out , later rain destroyed it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great easy to use timer
This is a great timer.Very easy to use. It's the second time we've purchased this timer. The first one finally stopped working after about 2 years heavy use.We kept the probe, which is fine, as a spare.I give it 4 stars rather than 5 because it would be nice if the alarm was a little louder. It is hard to hear over the sound of frothing milk.Still a great timer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Juicy every time ....
This is a great product. As long as you insert the probe into the meat and not too close to the bone it works perfectly. Chicken turns out perfect every time. You will not be disappointed. ... Read more

Editorial Review

From the "What will they think of next?" department, this 21st-century egg timer takes the guesswork out of cooking eggs. Placed in a pan with eggs, its internal sensor reacts to heat just as the eggs do. It's like being able to peer inside a cooking egg to see what's happening. The timer's red face is calibrated to indicate soft, medium, and hard--and stages in between. As the timer heats up, in precise synchronization with the eggs, its face darkens from the outer edge inward, displaying the eggs' current status on the calibrated gauge. Because the timer heats in step with the eggs, it automatically adjusts for the amount of water and number of eggs in the pan--even the altitude at which the eggs are being cooked. What a concept! Features

  • Placed in pan with eggs, timer darkens as eggs cook
  • Calculates cooking stages precisely by temperature, not loosely by time
  • Reacts to heat just as an egg does
  • Adjusts for number of eggs, amount of water, altitude
  • Calibrated to indicate soft, medium, hard, and stages in-between

3-0 out of 5 stars Weird plastic smell
It does work and you dont have to worry about green eggs anymore. But as the plastic egg is boiling there is a strong chemical/ plastic smell in the kitchen that's kind of scary. I hope Im not eating any strange chemicals.

I highly recomend it, perfect hard, soft, or medium eggs every time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get the CDN Q2-450 instead for under $20
The Q2-450 is fast and accurate. It takes 2-3 seconds to go from 70 deg to 140, just fine for grilling. It has a calibration function, it's waterproof and it's under $20.
5-0 out of 5 stars Expensive - Yes.Worth the Cost - YES
I finally broke down and bought this after being disappointed with a few "cheapies" I had purchased.I learned that the probe on those cheapies had to be inserted almost 2 inches to take an accurate temperature, and they were slow to give you the temp. This registers the temp within a few seconds, only has to be barely inserted to take a temp, and has a huge display. It is wonderful for use in the kitchen or at the grill. Now my expensive steaks come out perfect every time.
5-0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to use.
I have a friend who often says, "Over the long run the cheapest items are often the most expensive." By this he means that it's often more economical to get a long-lasting, top quality product at the beginning, rather than an annoying series of inexpensive, short-lived "also-rans." This axiom certainly holds true with the Thermapen. What a joy and pleasure to own. While undeniably expensive, its quality and covenience of use makes it one purchase for which I have no regrets. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works For Me
Great for cooking and short period aquifer pump tests. I only wish it had a little cloth bag for protection in the field, but I'll find one somewhere. Note: When setting the clock you have to enter the seconds amount or the time setting won't stick. The price is great as I bought two on a "Pre-Order" for a dollar-off and will give-up one towards a raffle here at work. As a pre-order it did take a month to get it, but worth the wait.

This Pyrex Accessories 2-in-1 thermometer/timer allows you to measure the temperature (in Celsius or Fahrenheit) of your food as it cooks--without opening the oven door. A thin cord attaches the commercial-quality probe to a digital display screen that sits on your countertop. The true beauty of this gadget is that a timer sounds once the preset temperature of the food is reached, allowing you to read in the other room without having to continually check the temperature reading. This gadget works equally well on the stovetop, and also functions as a simple digital kitchen timer. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Tool
Used regularly for over a year.Wouldn't roast a turkey in the oven or BBQ a pork shoulder on the outside grill without it.Much more convenient than probe-type thermometers because you can leave the oven door/grill lid shut.Alarm works for time or temperature, so you really must not be paying attention if you overcook anything with this tool.No problems so far, but I handle it carefully. It is, after all, just plastic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad product, if you are careful with the probe
I first got a timer/thermometer as a Christmas gift, and loved the idea of it.Unfortunately the one that I got never beeped....well, it never beeped loud enough for an ear more than 6 inches away to hear it anyway. So I quickly got another one, the Pyrex Professional digital thermometer/timer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for timing my walks
I set the Timer for the time I want to turn around, and after I do, I set press Count Up to measure how long I spend getting back to my starting place.I can see the time of day any time by pressing Clock, so I don't have to wear a watch. The Polder 898-90 is easy to set and use, and I can see its face without reading glasses. The battery is still going strong after about 50 hours of use (in contrast to the battery of my watch, which runs down very fast if used very often).

4-0 out of 5 stars Polder Timer
I love the ability to press in the exact amount of time I want set without having to press one key repeatedly. The only fault of this timer is the keys are quite small.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good while it lasts
I have purchased this item twice. The first barely made it through a grill season and the second proved even less hearty. The grill gets too hot for the wire and it burns through leaving two pices of probe wire. There is no way to use this with a grill and get sustained use from it. The same is true of all brands.. Models sold as "wireless" are not wireless in terms of going from the meat to outside of the grill.Somebody needs to figure out how to make this tool without the probe wire. That said, before it becomes useless, it works really well. Maybe the idea is to buy these by the case?!

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep Your Receipt
I've had 4 or 5 of these thermometers over the years and when they work they are great. But inevitably the probes fail. You will think its your fault and probably buy a new one. But the reviews show that the probes are not up to the temperature extremes they will be subjected to in a grill or an oven.

This discreet little digital clock/timer fits in the palm of a hand and gives users the choice of counting up or down in either minutes and seconds or hours and minutes. When the timer is not in use, the gadget operates as a digital clock, reporting the current time in hours and minutes. The LCD screen displays an easy-to-view 0.8-inch readout and the timer itself can mount to a magnetized surface, clip to clothing, or stand on a tabletop. The timer is simple to set and has easily-identifiable buttons for the clock, hours/minutes timer, and minutes/seconds timer. For longer counting tasks, such as all-day cooking of meat sauces or tracking intervals between taking medication, the hours/minutes timer counts up to 19 hours and 59 minutes. For meals with shorter cook times or timing at-home workouts, the minutes/seconds timer counts up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. The timer emits a beeping noise when set time has elapsed, which is easily turned off by pressing the Start/Stop button on the instrument’s side. The Start/Stop button also pauses and resumes countdowns when pressed before countdown time is complete. The timer runs on a single AAA battery (included) and Taylor ensures complete accuracy in its readings through a one-year limited warranty. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
This is a great timer for the price, a little bulky though. It's nice to be able to set the timer for seconds, minutes or hours and also be able to count down or upwards. I'll use it as a reminder for appointments while I'm working in the office at home as well as in the kitchen. This will also be handy for soccer practice.

5-0 out of 5 stars great little timer!
I got this timer at different store and I think it is just great!I like that I can time in minutes for shorter things (like cookies) or in hours for a ham like I did at Easter.I have not seen a timer that switches like that.I read the notes about the clip, but frankly, I just attach it to my refrig and leave it there. The buzzer is loud enough to hear too.

3-0 out of 5 stars Average, but inexpensive
I purchased this timer because I wanted an inexpensive timer for my basement. I groom my cats there and need to time some of the grooming products I use on the cats. This timer arrived with the clip broken on the back. It is the part that attaches to you belt or can make the timer stand upright.Amazon let me print out a return label so that I didn't have to pay for return shipping charges and they sent me out a replacement immediately. The replacement was fine. For the price, this timer is pretty good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pyrex 17015programable Timer, An asset for a busy person
This is a great device and has multiple settings to keep tasks on track.Very full featured and easy to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best kitchen timer you can get
I have bought this timer numerous times, and, after a few years, after it falls into a pot of soup or something, I go buy another. Reasons: a) the programmable timer which allows you to time several dishes simultaneously. b) Sturdiness. Its magnet does not stay glued to the back forever, but otherwise it's durable for an everyday electronic gadget - you should get several years of use out of it. c) It's one of the only timers I can find - and I look at big box stores, major discount stores, the supermarket, etc. - that allow you to time dishes longer than an hour or 99 minutes. This is important for pot roast, big chickens, turkeys, unusual dishes that simmer overnight, and so on.
5-0 out of 5 stars Multi-tasker's Friend
This timer is an indispensible tool for everyone who's got more than one thing in the oven, more than one child, more than one student, or a combination of more than one of the above. It's small, nicely portable and handy. I've dropped it a few times, and after reinserting the battery it has worked just fine.It is also a procrastinator's friend: I use it when I need to limit my time on a project - or online Sudoku. ... About the size of and similar to the style of a pocket calculator, this kitchen timer is easy for cooks with arthritic or shaky hands to set. Like a calculator, the timer has 10 keys--one for each numeral--that are large enough to easily program in timer settings with one hand. The timer counts up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds so it is equally as useful for timing quick cooking tasks, such as hard-boiling eggs, as it is for timing longer, slow-cooking meals, such as braised meats. The digital display is 1.2 inches high so readouts are large and easy to see. A clear/stop button pauses the countdown midway through and also stops the alarm from beeping once the set time has elapsed. The timer also has a start button to begin countdowns and resume them after pausing. This 10-key timer is magnetized to stick to a refrigerator or stove and also has a stand for mounting on a countertop. It measures 4-1/2 by 2 inches and runs on a single long-life battery (included). Taylor ensures complete accuracy in its readings through a one-year limited warranty. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Questionable Quality
The 10 Key design is a life saver.I'm using these in my restaurant, unfortunately they're more suitable for home use.The timers are not loud enough for commercial use unless your kithen isnot very loud.I also had to to re-bend the battery contacts for a tighter fit on two of the 3 timers that I bought, because they would shut-off during use.Only have had them for about 3 weeks, so let's see how well they hold up.Despite the shorfalls, they're keepers due the Convenience of the 10 Key function.

4-0 out of 5 stars Timer
I Received it in perfect condition and the delivery was faster than I expected. I like the product... only inconvienient will change the battery because of the scrow.

4-0 out of 5 stars cheap and cheap -- but adequate
For under ten bucks, you can't go wrong.Note that the timer only counts down, not up.Also, the magnets are in the middle of the back of the timer, so when you attach it to your fridge and press on the bottommost buttons, the timer wobbles or falls off.The workaround is to attach a couple of little rubber feet or a stack of masking tape to the lower part of the back of the timer to stabilize it, but the buyer shouldn't have to solve a design flaw like that.

Its simple design provides a separate button for each timer for straightforward programming. The alarms steadily beep for a minute, or until the user pushes the on/off button. A memory function also recalls the timer’s previous setting--useful for baking several batches of cookies of canning several pots of jam. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good Features, Bad Construction
I have had two of these timers; the features are great, but each stopped working in less than a year.Too bad that the quality does not keep up with the design.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little gadget
This timer is really useful. It can be placed almost anywhere in a busy kitchen. It allows to time long intervals which are essential for cakes & roasts. The three channels capacity is soooo useful for anyone keeping tabs on a number of jobs. It is easy to use and it's robust. It may not be the cheapest - but hey! You're worth it !

1-0 out of 5 stars Durable but shrill
This timer is water resistant, which is nice. But it's also wobbly against the fridge, has buttons too close together, and is very shrill. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars CDN Big-Digit Digital Timer/Clock
Nice, compact digital timer that would be great for travel. Have had it for several months and am pleased with it's performance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Digital Timer/Clock
As a timer it is just what I was looking for. I can enter minutes and seconds without having to count up, it has a very good alarm, loud enough and long enough, and I can use it as a clock as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well
It amazes me how many timers do not have direct number entry.I will never again purchase the type that requires repeated button-presses to set the time! The things I like about this CDN timer:

Editorial Review

When there’s a pie in the oven and spaghetti boiling on the stovetop, this two-event timer tracks the cooking times for each dish independently so nothing overcooks. Each timer counts either up or down to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds and beeps at the end of each elapsed time setting. When the timer is not in use, the gadget operates as a digital clock, reporting the current time in hours, minutes, and seconds in either a 12- or 24-hour display. The LCD screen displays an easy-to-view 1-inch readout and the timer itself can mount to a magnetized surface, clip to clothing, or stand on a tabletop. The instrument is simple to set and has easily identifiable buttons for the clock function, each of the two timers, hours, minutes, seconds. Additionally, a start/stop button pauses and resumes countdowns midway through the scheduled time and stops the alarm at the end of set time period. The timer also has a recall button that, when pressed once, remembers the last recorded time frame and, when pressed twice, clears the memory for resetting. The timer runs on a single AAA battery (included) and Taylor ensures complete accuracy in its readings through a one-year limited warranty. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars poor product
Buttons stick (after only 2 months, need to use your nails to get them out and working), complicated secuence to reset (and I'm pretty good with machines..this is NOT intuitive at all! You have to push stop, timer, stop, reset, reset AGAIN and clook to stop it!!!), cheaped made.
2-0 out of 5 stars Fair UI -- Poor Physical Design
A double timer is a great idea, but this device turned out to not be a winner in practice.Clearing the timer and getting back to a clock display always seems to take one button press more than should be needed. The killer is that all of these button presses are around the EDGE of the timer, whereas the magnet/stand that should allow you to use it one-handed is in the MIDDLE of the back, providing no support for pressing those buttons. The second time I used it, pressing a timer button made it tilt against the front of the fridge, disconnecting the magnet, and dropping it six feet to the floor.Stupidly, I had already shredded the receipt, so I'm sure the karma was my fault anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very convenient and easy to use
This is a good one. Large buttons help operate easily. Size of Numbers is about 1/2 inch for each time display. The audible alert is pleasant to hear. Loud enough for within the room use or nearby. I read the previous reviews and bought this one. I use it for timing practice tests for my kids. Easy directions and pretty sturdy. I use it on a table top, so I have no idea how strong the magent is. Worth the money. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This charming red-apple timer will brighten up your kitchen counter while it keeps your cookies, cakes, roasts, and casseroles from burning. The ringing tone will remind you to take your pie out of the oven or check your pasta on the stove. The timer works best when timing longer intervals--the chime is triggered mechanically, and units of less than 10 minutes don't trip the ringer accurately--but this food-themed timer is a cheery way to time most kitchen tasks. 2-0 out of 5 stars Too fragile for a Rock 'n' Roller!
Very cute, worked for a little while, but when it fell off the bathroom vanity, that was that.It never worked again. Not that you should throw your timers around or anything, but I think a timer should be worth at least one fall, don't you?

1-0 out of 5 stars One bad apple!
If you want something that looks like an apple, I suggest you buy a real apple.
5-0 out of 5 stars Apple Time!
As a collector of apple items, I was happy to find this Norpro Red Apple Timer. It adds a touch of whimsy to my kitchen. I like to use it when cooking rice pilaf or garlic bread because I don't like the sound of the loud buzzer on my kitchen range. Norpro makes similar timers in other cute shapes: tomato, white egg, chicken, and chef. ... Read more
