Editorial Review

This barbecue fork takes all the guesswork out of grilling meats. With its built-in digital thermometer, the fork supplies accurate temperature readings in either Fahrenheit or Celsius when its tines are inserted into a cut of meat. A chart on the back of the handle provides a quick reference to the minimum temperature requirements recommended by the USDA for food safety. Because the thermometer reads all temperatures between 0 and 220 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to 104 degrees Celsius), it can also be used to determine how thawed or cool meats removed from the freezer or refrigerator are at the start of cooking.Read more

Features

  • Precision digital thermometer fork reports meat temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius
  • Easy-to-read 0.5-inch LCD display
  • Auto shutoff, on/off switch conserve battery life
  • Durable stainless-steel tines penetrate thick cuts of meat; tapered to retain juices

1-0 out of 5 stars don't buy it
i received this product in the mail 5 minutes ago, opened the box and pulled it out for testing. the pos doesn't work. the power won't come on. i replaced the battery with a new one and it still won't light up. I guess I got the 1 in a million that made it through quality assurance defective. great workmanship, guys.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT a great idea!
You have to turn the meat. You have to take the internal temperature. Why do you need one pointy thing to turn and one other pointy thing to take the temperature? You don't! This fork does it all. GREAT IDEA.

5-0 out of 5 stars works like a champ
I've always had difficulty knowing when BBQ'd or smoked chicken was done, especially the thigh pieces. With this easy to use therometer, it is very simple to use and takes the guess work out.Now all my chicken pieces are cooked to the proper temperature and I am no longer worried about serving under cooked meat to my family and guests. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excelente !!!
Excelente termometro, construido con materiales de calidad, resitente y de facil lectura. Lo utilizo casi a diario.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Winner
This meat thermometer is fantastic and I am thrilled with it every time I use it.Two wonderful features worth mentioning are first of all the red arrow on the outside of the thermometer which you turn to the exact final cooking temperature. After setting the arrow, all you have to do is check to see when the temperature has reached it...set it, and forget having to check again what temperature is needed or worrying about reading the dial! The second great feature is that this thermometer starts registering at 120 degrees. When cooking a roast to medium rare this is an invaluable feature as most thermometers don't begin registering the temperature until 140 degrees which is too high and your roast is too well done!I have washed it in the dishwasher and so far the face has not steamed up like my last thermometer.Thank you Amazon for carrying this wonderful product! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Too many problems to be happy with.
I bought this to replace a nice Williams-Sonoma model which simplified things with buttons to select meats and cooking doneness levels...only because I lost the proble travelling from relatives' houses. This Polder had the extra benefit (I thought) of reading the oven temperature as well as the food temps. I used it Thanksgiving -- no time like an important holiday, right? -- and discovered the warts on the thermometer:

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Thermometer
I have owned a Taylor Roast thermometer for 10 years and consider it an essential tool for the satisfactory cooking of roasts, hams, poultry, etc. I started worrying about the fact that I don't have a "back-up" thermometer and was so relieved thatI can get one from Amazon at a good price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tool
I have had my Taylor Classic Yeast/Roast Thermometer for about 30 years (to the best of my memory) and find it an excellent tool. It is utterly simple to use and totally dependable. I wash it in the dishwasher and toss it in a drawer to store. It is not fragile; the stainless insertion rod encases the glass, rendering it rather durable. We use it in the Weber grill, in the oven, and anywhere a cooking thermometer is needed.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but fragile
I prefer to use thermometers without dials as they are more accurate.I was very pleased to get this thermometer a few days ago.I used it for the first time and it performed well. However, after I removed it from the meat I accidentially dropped it into my sink from about eight inches and the bulb that goes into the meat broke off.Five stars for accuracy, zero for durability.I will order another, but treat it as the fragile item that it is. ... This replacement probe fits the Polder Preprogrammed Cooking Thermometer, Wireless Remote Cooking Thermometer/Timer, and the Smart Fork. The 8-inch-long curved probe inserts into even the largest roast, while the 39-inch wire is long enough to reach from the cooking food to the sensor unit. The probe stays in the meat during cooking, and the oven door closes over the wire. Not to be used for taking the oven temperature, the probe is suitable for measuring cooking temperatures up to 392 degrees F (200 degrees C). Heat-resistant gloves or potholders should be used when handling the hot wire and probe. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Unreliable!!!!
These things are accurate-until they "fail".
1-0 out of 5 stars Multiple Probes failed quickly; bad batch? or just plain bad?
I've heard of others complaining that these probes will end up failing under "normal" use... something goes wrong at some point, and they just don't read right anymore.
1-0 out of 5 stars Beware - Fire Danger!!
After some years of satisfactory use the probe with my Polder thermometer/timer would occasionally not read the temperature so I purchased a replacement. Using it to caramelise sugar I found a deep color when the thermometer read only 260F. Switching quickly to the old probe it read 350F!! - about what I expected from the color.

Froth milk to just the right temperature for lattes or cappuccinos with this InstaRead thermometer by CDN. A specially designed stainless-steel clip holds the thermometer firmly to the side of any size pitcher or pan; when the clip is removed, the slender stainless-steel probe inserts easily into roasting meats and poultry for a fast temperature read-out. Even though the dial measures only one inch in diameter, the high visibility red pointer and large numbers make it easy to read temperatures, which range from 60 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit and can even be recalibrated for continued accuracy. The thermometer may be used on meats taken out of a conventional oven, microwave, grill, rotisserie, and smoker, but should be removed from the meat as soon as the temperature is registered, since the polycarbonate lens is not oven-proof. The protective sheath for the thermometer features a pocket clip and loop to conveniently hold the probe, and lists various types of meats along with the USDA recommended internal temperature for each. A five-year warranty covers the thermometer against defects.Read more

Versatility is the watchword with the Polder dual sensor thermometer and timer, which measures both the internal temperature of your food and the temperature of your oven at the same time. With its stacked temperature displays and 10-hour timer ( nine hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, technically), the Polder thermometer is both functional and efficient. Its temperature readings range from 32 to 572 degrees F, though the temperature ranges for the pre-settable timer run from 85 to 572 degrees F (which is fine, as you'll rarely have to cook something at a temperature below 85 degrees). The timer is versatile, too, with count-down, count-up, and overtime count-up features. The thermometer even comes with a USDA cooking chart, with recommended temperatures and times for a variety of foods. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It's quit working - Unreliable
This thing worked for a while but now it is acting very strangely. I tried to get information from Polder online and found no supporting documentation. My guess is that the probe is the problem, but a replacement probe is $20 and a new complete unit is $25. I guess I will fall back on the old reliable analog manual stick-in-the-meat thermometer and trash the Polder.

1-0 out of 5 stars Didn't last a month, not user-friendly
This was purchased around Christmas to replace a Williams-Sonoma probe style thermometer that was several years old and finally stopped working. After using this Polder thermo-timer for less than a month, I will be going back to Williams-Sonoma to purchase a replacement for it and will not buy Polder again.
1-0 out of 5 stars Please don't waste your money.
I purchased this for use with my smoker, right out of the box, it worked great. The controls are intuitive and well designed.Worked like a charm until the second time around when it started registering inaccurate temperatures.I was extremely careful with the probe, not getting it wet or crushing it. I've tested many thermometers and this is by far the worse. It now registers about 50-80 degrees too hot. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
I must have a smaller version of this meat thermometer because mine isn't quite the size of this one mentioned. So, those of you scared to try this larger one, look for the smaller one in your local store. That said, this is a great thermometer. It reads very, very quickly, is heavy enough but not too much so that it cannot stand in the meat.My only complaint is that the face can fog up while beng read occasionally, but other than that, this thing has been a wonderful addition to my kitchen and I highly, highly recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's Huge!
I just received this thermometer, and felt I just had to write a review. It's Huge!I mean really Huge! I think it may topple over in a smaller cut of meat.On the plus side, it does seem to be very well made and sturdy, something I never thought I would say about a meat thermometer. My husband likes it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice thermometer - maybe too long for you.
this thermometer looks very professional, and it's face is very readable and helpful, and it cleans off very easily. However, the probe is quite long, and it will not register an accurate temperature unless you sink the entire probe into your meat. This is very hard to do with smaller cuts, due to the size of this beast.I overcooked a small pork roast AND a roasting chicken before realizing the problem. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Works well until it breaks
I loved this thermometer for the first four times I used it.It let me accurately cooked all the food I used it on.But after four uses, it broke. The display unit works fine, but the temperature probe is broken -- after some research, I found out that it won't resist temperatures over about 200 degrees -- and my grill will get hotter than that.Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for!

1-0 out of 5 stars Rubbish, absolutely Rubbish
Wish I could give this item 0 stars, I guess one star will have todo.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
I love this thermometer.Almost instantly comes up to temperature when probing something.Very easy to operate and even lets you custom enter in a temperature.I've only used in the oven and it has never failed, I've used other thermometers with no good luck. This one always "reads" the meat perfectly.I wouldn't consider using it on a gas grill, it didn't say anywhere in the instructions that you could and I assume it would be way to hot for the thermometer. For the oven it's excellent and you won't be disappointed. ... All the warnings about undercooked meat may leave you concerned about the safety of eating your favorite dishes. Assuage your worries by inserting about 2 inches of this slender meat thermometer into your turkey or steak. The tool registers an instant internal meat temperature on an easy-to-read, shatterproof, analog dial that is about the size of a quarter. Because the thermometer reads temperatures between 0 and 220 degrees Fahrenheit, it can be used to determine how thawed or cool meats removed from the freezer or refrigerator are at the start of cooking, how evenly meats are cooking in a microwave oven, and if meats cooked on any other heat source are done. For added precaution against bacteria, the thermometer is made of easy-to-clean stainless-steel and comes with a yellow plastic storage sleeve containing a nontoxic antibacterial agent that minimizes the chance of contamination. The plastic sleeve, when held horizontally, also acts as a heat-safe holder for the thermometer when using the probe over an open flame, and as a wrench for rotating and recalibrating the thermometer head should it get slightly off-kilter. The thermometer should be cleaned by hand with soap and water or alcohol for sterilization, and is covered by a lifetime warranty. Read more

Features

  • Instantly reads internal meat temperatures from 0 to 220 Fahrenheit
  • Shatterproof, easy-to-read plastic lens
  • Antibacterial sleeve inhibits growth of bacteria
  • Plastic sleeve also serves as holder, recalibrating tool
  • Durable stainless-steel stem; lifetime warranty

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect accessory
I like this thermometer because it is fast and easy to use.I read the other review and was curious because I have not seen the anti bacterial versions at a supermarket. After I bought mine on Amazon, I checked stores to make sure I got a good deal and only saw this item at Bed Bath and Beyond. The antibacterial tube was important to me.I have calibrated it after I dropped it once, and it was fine.I called the company to see about calibrating at boiling versus freezing, and because boiling can be rolling or vigorous, each is at a slightly different temp. They said putting it in the ice water is more accurate. It is better than my meat thermometer that I leave in the meat while cooking, I like the small ticks. My beef turned out just beautiful when I used it!It was prepared perfectly, so I think I did the calibration right.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not accurate
I bought one from a local grocery store. One of its claims is that it can be recalibrated -- true enough, but you can only calibrate it at one temperature. If you calibrate the temperature in ice water (32 deg. F), it's about 20 degrees off in boiling water (212 deg. F).You can't calibrate so that it will read accurately over the entire range that the unit claims to be able to measure, which means it's fairly useless. ... Read more

Popular in Southern cooking for decades, deep-fried whole turkey is gaining a national audience. When cooked properly it’s delicious, juicy, and has no greasy taste. Each fry kettle has its own instructions, but generally for best results the oil should first be heated to between 375 and 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and after the bird is added, maintained at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. With its adjustable stainless-steel clip, this 12-inch-long thermometer is ideal for attaching to any size vat or kettle to monitor oil temperature. Large and easy-to-read, the 2-inch dial registers temperatures ranging from 100 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and can be left in after cooking is complete to ensure the oil has completely cooled. A 14-pound bird usually cooks in approximately 45 minutes. The protective sheath for the thermometer features a pocket clip and loop to conveniently hold the probe. Since a large amount of hot oil is required, turkeys and other poultry should always be deep-fried outdoors. A five-year warranty covers the thermometer against defects.Read more

Features

  • 12-inch thermometer probe is perfect for deep frying vats
  • Registers temperature ranging from 100 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Stainless-steel clip adjusts to fit varying kettles
  • Large 2-inch dial is easy to read
  • Oil heated to the proper temperature produces a perfect deep-fried turkey

If you've ever opened the oven door to check on a roast only to watch the heat escape while an "instant read" thermometer measures temperature, you'll appreciate this impressively-accurate, remote cable thermometer. Simply insert its high-heat stainless steel probe into meat, shut the oven door, and monitor internal food temperature on a large, easy-to-read digital display. You can even program an alarm to sound when food has reached a desired temperature. Predetermined settings are also available. This capability is especially useful for smoking, barbecuing, or any "low and slow" technique--eliminating the need to check on food and allow precious smoke to escape. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars These work fine
I have two of these CDN dgital thermometers and they work fine.I liked the first one well enough that when I decided I needed a second unit I searched out an identical thermometer.Che temperature calibration is right on and the stainless steel shield on the long probe cable sems to work well.Highly recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great while it worked
For the last six months I've loved this. It did it all. Unfortunately, it's now off by 75 degrees. I'll be sending it back on warranty but, regardless, pretty poor quality if it can't survive a year of basic kitchen use.

I bought my thermometer about a year ago and have used it to cook beef and chicken to perfection. No more dry meat whether it is in the oven or in a smoker or grill. Then I tried it to make fudge.Best fudge I've ever made and the temperatures were very accurate.Plan on buying one for each of my children for Christmas. ... Set this thermometer to any temperature between 32 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit (0 to 200 degrees Celsius), insert the 7-inch probe into a roast or saucepan, and the timer will sound and lights flash when the desired temperature is reached. Oven doors and barbecue lids close right over the heat-resistant 45-inch cable (not for use in microwaves). Large numerals on the LED screen display both the cooking and desired temperatures, and a switch on the back gives a choice of Fahrenheit or Celsius. The slim, oval-shaped thermometer has a hinged stand that lets it sit anywhere, as well as a removable magnetic holder that attaches it to the side of an oven or refrigerator. Measuring 3-1/4 by 5/8 by 2-1/4 inches, the thermometer comes with one AAA battery and a five-year warranty against defects.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Product!
This thermometer lasted about a month before going in to permanent "Hi" mode. What a ripoff!

5-0 out of 5 stars CDN DTP392 Digital Probe Thermometer
An excellent item.Works very nicely. We cook a turkey on a Webber bar-b-que and other meat thermometers smoke up and make monitoring very difficult. With this unit the thermometer stays outside and away from the smoke. Also, the set and actual temperatures are displayed, most helpful. The alarm feature is an added plus. After my first purchase, I bought several more for family members.Highly recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good thing there's a waranty.
My thermometer worked great... right up until it didn't.Like some other's, mine now reads about 25-30 degrees higher than it should. At least there is a five year waranty. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Overcooked roast beef is a thing of the past with this handy 3-in-1 digital device. The timer can be set to go off when the meat reaches a desired internal temperature; the 7-inch stainless-steel probe stays in the roast during cooking, with the oven door closing right over the flexible 39-inch cable. The digital thermometer/timer is also useful for candy-making: the clip attaches the probe to the side of a saucepan, and again, the alarm can be programmed to sound after a certain number of minutes or when a particular temperature is reached. Different sounds for the timer and thermometer alarms avoid confusion. Read more

  • Temperature range 14 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit (¿10 to 200 degrees Celsius)

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for a while...
...but died after a few months.Be careful about getting the probe wet, it will cause the rest to malfunction.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
Good idea bad product. Worked great 2 weeks. Magnets fell off end of week 2. Probe quit week 3. Costs more to return for repair than it is worth.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a quality product
This thermometer is very cheaply made. It feels flimsy and the magnets on the back won't hold it secure on a metal surface. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Take the guesswork out of cooking times with this InstaRead thermometer by CDN. Made of premium grade stainless steel, the probe inserts easily into roasting meats and poultry and gives a fast temperature read-out. Accurate to within 2 degrees, the thermometer’s high visibility red pointer reads a dual scale from 130 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit (54 to 88 degrees Celsius), and can even be recalibrated for continued accuracy. The thermometer may be used on meats cooked in a conventional oven, microwave, grill, rotisserie, and smoker, and since the glass lens is oven-proof, it can be left in meats during oven cooking (though not broiling). The protective sheath for the thermometer features a pocket clip and loop to conveniently hold the probe. A five-year warranty covers the thermometer against defects.Read more
