Still Boiling
My mom bought a kettle a few months ago and called me today to warm me about the scum buildup or whatever it's called that builds around coils. She said in her kettle the silver on the coils were flaking off and floating around her tea. Gross! I thanked her for the warning and then realized, coils? I never had that problem. In fact, this kettle, purchased in 2003, has been performing beautifully ever since. I can't even remember having to clean the inside, ever! Too bad it's currently unavailable because it's one heck of a kettle.

This is a great electric kettle
I purchased this item 3 1/2 years ago and love it.It has gone on three cross country trips and numerous soccer weekends.It has survived being dropped, being improperly packed, and daily use.I highly recommend it.It is MUCH BETTER than my last one that was 3x the price!

I've had this little kettle for about 5 years now, and it is still going strong.It has started to look its age and I was looking for a replacement, only to find that it is discontinued and that no other company, except Bodum, seems to make small kettles.It is just over 4 cups, which is just perfect for tea or coffee making, and the occasional cooking.It takes little space, is cordless, and the design is so much sleeker than the Bodum ones, which look like dorm food-warmers.It is a shame they have discontinued it.My model has had no problem at all, boils fast, and never seems to have had a problem with calcification.
This Kettle Has Been Kind To Me
I have owned this kettle for at least two years. It has been perfect for my needs. Yes the little plug came out of the water window a couple times, but it was not a big problem since I just put it back. It has not come out since. Searching the market now, there appears to be no other small kettle with a comfortable grip as this one on the market today. I think it boils water faster than others available now as well. I bought a second one as a back up and plan to buy another for a gift.

It was a great little kettle until one day....
I loved this little guy --- Boiled water in a couple minutes...Then one day, after about 9 months, just like everyone else the rubber stopper at the bottom of the water level view port fell out - and is nowhere to be found!I think the dog ate it. Best Buy US and UK!
Outstanding in every way!!It is very fast even when filled to full. We use it for "tea" daily, which is 2 to 3 times a day. It will boil small amounts of water in seconds.
Rust Appeared < Two Months
The teakettle rusted at the weld on the pour spout and inside the kettle in less than two months. Krups will charge you for the replacement shipping costs. This is not oulined in the warranty and appears to be a unilateral policy designed to squeeze the last nickel from the consumer. I concur with Lynn's review, below, for the "Customer Service Reality".

Oozes quality
When I purchased this item, I was looking for a cordless electric kettle, with an indicator light and a fill level indicator, spout fillable for preference as I find this to be the best for ease of filling in my past experience. In addition the item needed to look modern and fashionable for the wife's kitchen.

It broke.
I really liked this electric water kettle until it broke. There are little green flaps that stick out on the bottom which have to be manually pulled out with a knife to get it working again. Not sure how much longer my quick fix will work. I wish they would replace this-it is obviously a manufacturers design flaw.

VERY HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE...
The Krups kettle looks like a modern version of "I'm a little teapot!"I have been very happy with it and ordered it in black to match my Krups coffee pot.It heats quickly and makes a "click" cut off noise after bringing the water to a rolling boil.I also like the cordless portability this pot has by being able to remove it easily off the base.
