5+ years old and going stong
We purchased two of these for making tea and instant coffee at the office.They have been working fine for more than 5 years.
Two years is totally accurate!
I purchased mine three years ago and have battled getting it to work for over a year.I finally just thew it away.Initially it worked great, but after two years things it didn't heat every time I placed it on the base.Eventually I had to prop it up to reach a certain angle before it would engage.

A reliable pot
I've had the pot for 3 years now. My heating element remains in excellent condition; the filter stays in fine. I only use the pot for boiling water, however, and I've never boiled "hard" water with a higher mineral content. Perhaps the mineral content of water affects the heating element: who knows? An effective electric kettle with some design defects
For a person who has used 3 other electric kettles extensively, the Krups kettle is not the worst.
Great alternative to stovetop kettles
Wonderful for tea and coffee drinkers! My fiance (the coffee drinker) uses the kettle for a single cup of coffee. He prefers it to a coffee maker, because the water gets so hot and provides a better brew. I buy quality loose leaf teas and appreciate a kettle that boils water very quickly. The Krups has a rather small footprint, so we don't mind it being on the counter regularly. Other good points:

Great Kettle.A challenge to clean
Have owned and used this kettle on a daily+ basis for at least 1 year and a half.Love the look, how quickly it heats water, and found that the sound of the 'click' when automatically shutting off, was usually sufficient to let us know water was ready.I did find cleaning it an unpleasant challenge.The plastic piece that holds the small filter DOES come out, but it takes small strong hands to accomplish this not so small feat.If not for this draw back...would give this one 5 stars.Am buying new kettle now, as the plastic piece has cracked, likely due to heat and the stress on it in from being taken in and out.It would get pretty gross if you didn't remove it for cleaning.Hope this helps.Peace and happy sipping.

How'd I live without it before?
I've owned 2 of these for a couple of years, now, and have given them heavy daily use.Great for making tea, coffee via french press, soups, jello- anything for which one requires hot/boiling water. Quick, relatively quiet, attractive, sturdy- a quality, value buy!

Great - while it lasted........
I loved this electric kettle when I first got it. Looks stylish, heats water relatively fast, easy to use, etc. But it recently went kaput, after about a year. The connection started to be on sometimes, off sometimes, and now just OFF.
Very smart idea.
I was sad when our previous Braun kettle died after ten years of service.My husband picked out this one and it's been great!I love the cordless design, it boils the water very quietly and its ready bell is not annoying like some other models we've seen.We use ours at least ten times a day.I love it when an appliance just does what it's supposed to!!!

Cute but taste of plastic in water
I bought this for my mom after viewing it on Amazon together, thinking that it is a trusted name brand (Black and Decker)and it looked really cute, and had a great review.But, after using it, realized that it wasn't as good as we thought.The plastic looked cheaper than some other brands, which verified why there was a plastic smell and taste in the water (this would be my main concern in purchasing an electric kettle).My mom didn't want to deal with all the trouble of returning it.She's hoping that the taste and smell of plastic would eventually go away (which I doubt).I would recommend a similar style (in white)from [brand name] that I currently own.It is great!Buy the right one the first time around, instead of regreting it afterwards. ... Looks cool but very poorly designed
I have/had two versions of this kettle...the white and the clear.The white was an earlier design with a slightly different kettle-to-base connection. The earlier version lasted about three years and was ok although it would stop working every now and again until I gave it a fiddle.It finally died in its sleep.The very very flimsy flip up switch finally broke and couldnt be fixed any more. the perfect solution
I've been looking for an electric kettle for sometime (teapots and I just don't get along), and decided to give this one a chance. And it turned out to be even better than I had expected! First of all, it's actually cordless, the kettle lifts right off the base when your water is ready. It's definitely good for more than one person - you could make tea for a whole family at one go (I can't imagine needing the "full-size" version). Handy, multipurpose, sturdy!
I've had this tea press for 3 years and it survived 2 moves and 5 different roomates. It's great for traditional teas, the basket/plunger system keeps you from over-steeping. It's easy to empty and clean. I also use it to make medicinal teas, which are difficult to make in other types of tea steeping apparatus due to the bulkiness of some medicinal plants (twigs and bark!). Read more

Worth the investment
Handsome appliance, nice design. Tall, slender kettle fits well with stainless decor. See-through window shows you exactly how much water you are heating. An entirely full kettle of water, 1.5 liters, heats to a rolling boil in 5-6 minutes. Quiet automatic shut-off. Nothing that you touch on the kettle or heating element gets hot. There is no exposed coil within the kettle to corrode or deteriorate, and the kettle connects to a base allowing you to carry and pour without a cord in the way.

My first electric kettle--why'd I wait so long?
I drink LOTS of iced tea, and therefore brew every day.I finally decided to get an electric kettle in the hopes it would help streamline my morning routine.I decided on the Breville because I knew I wanted stainless steel, but not expensive.And man, am I happy with it!I've never timed it, but it's SO much faster than the stovetop!The pot does get hot to the touch, but that's what happens when you put hot H2O in a metal container.Besides functioning well, it looks great.No heating plastic smell either.I've travelled with this kettle as well, and find it sturdy.Overall, a great purchase.

Great Kettle
I have now had this kettle six months at work and use it several times a day almost every day.It works great.The speed thatit heats up water is amazing (fast).It is a little loud when it is heating up, but probably no more so than a pot on the stove that is about to boil.The auto-shutoff feature is great.It shuts down about 5-10 sec after it comes to a boil, but don't worry--If you come back just a little too late, once it's hot, it only task a couple of seconds (literally) to bring it back to a rolling boil.Finally the cordless feature is a must.All in all, I can't think of anything I don't like about this kettle.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Kettle. Every kitchen needs one. We first saw this type of Kettle on a trip to Prague, Czech Republic. This particular model works extremely well. Almost to good. The water in it if you let it go and it shuts off automatically is boiling hot. Which I find is to hot for me if I'm going to enjoy my tea right away, so I usually shut it off manually before it gets that hot. But this kettle is excellent for a number of things. I received the Capresso 255.02 Cordless Water Kettle, White, just a few days ago.I think it's the nicest looking water kettle I have seen.I love the spring cover which opens with one hand, the red water measure is handy, and it is very easy to lift off the base.I also like the fact that the cord can be lengthened or shortened and there is not an excess of cord on the counter.The design is simple but very functional.The full pot took about 5 minutes to boil, which is much less time that it would take on my stove.I am not easily impressed by most appliances, however, this one is a winner. ... Unfortunate
Visitors to your home shouldn't be allowed to roam the kitchen. They might take your hard-working Russell Hobbs electric kettle, fill it, then put it onto the gastop to cook. Plastic melts quickly.
