Not like my old oxo spoon
I have an oxo spoon I bought a couple of years back.It's a well-made heavy spoon.But when I recently went to buy more as gifts, I discovered oxo has since thrown quality out the window.Their spoons are now made of several pieces of wood glued together--just like so many other cheap wooden spoons for sale nowadays which usually crack after a few uses.If this is what you want, just go to your local discount store.But if quality if what you're after, you'll have to look elsewhere.

I love my spoon
I love my OXO wooden spoon.It has the nicest feel and look of any wooden spoon I've ever used.The shape is exactly right.It is a nice large spoon and good to hold.I haven't had any problems with it.

Wok and Roll!!!
I received this yesterday.They are very sturdy and well made.I used one piece to stir fry last night and was very pleased.It also cleaned up easy.I am very impressed with the weight and quality of each piece.This particular set (in a clear plastic box) is treated wood.The price is very much worth what you get.
Why the perfumy odor?
These spoons have a nasty perfumy odor.I have to wonder what smell are they trying to hide with that perfume?For myself, I will return these rather than take a chance.

I love this spoon!
Ok ... so I may not be a wood working expert, but I think I am a fairly accomplished cook.I think this spoon is great!I was apprehensive about ordering it due to some of the really negative reviews, but I took a chance & am so glad I did.This spoon is a heavy-weight and seems to be well made.The size is perfect for my needs ... I can't imagine getting one any larger than this one.Granted I've only used it and hand washed it several times, but I see no wear and tear as of yet.If I find the spoon isn't durable in time, then I'll come back and edit this review.In the meantime, if you're looking for a nice, sturdy, heavy wooden spoon at a great price ... then look no further.I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

I love using OXO's lineup of wooden spoons. They are solid and comfortable to hold, and won't scratch metal or nonstick cookware interiors. They are so very superior to those generic, cheap wooden spoons with thin handles that are uncomfortable to hold. This spoon is perfect for stirring sauces or sauteeing. With the exception of my knives, among my cooking tools, I use this spoon the most, along with the larger version.

Wood handle IS there for a reason
This spatula (or spoonula, whatever you want to call it) works pretty well. I've left it sitting in the pan over high heat for a few minutes before, and it does not melt, so that's great. It's very flexible. The wooden handle has been getting bad reviews, but this is the feature I like the most. At first, though, I hated it. Then I realized that Le Creuset really did put a lot of thought into this. When using their cookware, you should not bang utensils on the side of the pan because it could chip it. Even plastic will chip it. This is a very hard habit to break. After stirring your food, you bang the excess off on the side of the pan. Well, with the wood handle, you can still do that and not chip the pan because it is a softer, shock absorbing, material. No, you should not put wood into the dishwasher. I don't put my Le Creuset pots and pans in the dishwasher, either, so it doesn't take anything extra for me to hand-wash this. The only complaint I have is that the slots are too small. Food gets trapped inside the slots easily and is a pain to get out. And they're too small to let any significant amount of liquid drain. All in all, it's a pretty good spatula. Next time, though, I'll get an unslotted one.

I hate the wooden handle
I like this spatula for the following reasons:

I love them
These spoons are great.They have the heft of a wooden spoon and, to me, they feel very similar.They do not stain, you can throw them in the dishwasher and you can safely soak them if something gets dried/caked on.I plan to buy another set and put the rest of my wooden spoons out to pasture.

Better than wooden spoons but I don't like them!
In every objective way these spoons are better than the wooden spoons you have always used. They handle risotto as gently as any wooden spoon and the rice doesn't stick to them; they clean up easily in the dishwasher; they do not stain; they are nonporous; in short they are a significant improvement over wood and I would recommend them to any commercial kitchen.

It has a slot that can't be cleaned!
I bought this thinking it would be better than all the cheap supermarket spoon/spatulas.It is worse - the head is not sealed to the handle and batter / food / grease / whatever gets in the slot where the head and handle connect and is impossible to get out - soaking, dishwasher on heat boost - nothing works.Also, 400 deg limit is iffy when using on the stove - 600 deg limit is much better.Mine curled a bit when used on the stove, but since it had a permanent reservoir of filth, I tossed it anyway.Better to splurge on the ones from Pampered Chef.

handy, versatile
I purchased this in all honesty to get an order up to the $25 free shipping limit, but am quite pleased. It *does* function very well for stir frys, although the slots for drainage aren't that effective. Interesting and functional shape, comfortable to use.

Chirps aftertwo months of Use
I bought this from Amazon to use on my calphalon wok. After daily use for about 1 month, we realise that the tip chirps. The scoop design is useful but the material used does not withstand the heat.

Oxo Good Grips Spatula

Quality problems
I purchased a few of these for myself and friends. From the day I got my spoon spatula it was my favorite kitchen tool, especially since I could use it when making sauces or frying onions and veggies. One day when making a non-meat tomato sauce the handle simply broke off leaving the handle in my hand and the spatula in the pot. I wrote to OXO about this twice in the last 2 months with no reply and this is most frustrating to me. Anyway, I am now using a KitchenAid product which feels much more sturdy and KitchenAid responds to e-mails IMMEDIATELY.

Heavy but even worse...it scratches my All-Clad pans!
I bought this All-Clad stainless spoon and was very excited to use it but it was very disappointing (and heartbreaking!) I used it on my brand new All-Clad stainless pan and it scratched up the pan really bad with just one time of light use! Hence, I have put this spoon away b/c I don't want to ruin any of my other metal pots and pans.I guess I could use it to serve but it defeats the purpose of me spending this $$ on it. I guess technically they're "crafted from solid beech wood" as the ad states, but they're not carved from a single piece of wood as it implies.(They're actually made from several pieces of wood glued together.)I ordered a total of ten utensils (two of each of the five sizes/styles) and eight of the ten pieces split along the glue lines after the first use. (They were washed by hand, not in the dishwasher.) I was very surprised because OXO is a reputable brand, and I've purchased their products many times before and never had a problem or complaint. The Large Spoon I Really Use
One of my biggest issues with Kitchen utensils is that so many of them are flimsy - and when you are stirring something heavy they bend or break.But not with this spoon.It's durable and stiff, yet sized well with a remarkably comforable grip, so it doesn't slip during use.Other products in this line are great too, and also benefit from this strength and build quality.I have several as a result, and count them as one of my most frequently used items for stews or other similar dishes.A good purchase you will likely use for a lifetime!

Another Hit from OXO!
I ordered this spoon to go with my OXO serving fork. This is a large spoon, and is very heavily constructed. I can't imagine any kitchen activity that this spoon wouldn't be up to. It is very ruggedly made of stainless steel, and best of all, is dishwasher safe, a feature sometimes not present in high end utensils. The only thing that surprised me a bit about this spoon is its length: it is just over 11 inches long, which is somewhat shorter than many competing serving spoons. In my kitchen, this hasn't been a problem, but for some people with extremely deep pots it could come up a bit short. No issues

Good item!
I like using this slotted spoon very much. Nice handle and works well. When you drop them they don't make a lot of noise because they are soft, silicon.

Great quality, a little heavy
THis spoon is beautiful & compliments all the other red KA stuff I own.I was surprised a bit by how large it was, and how heavy it was.But it really is high quality and performs well.I guess I'm used to the cheaper nylon cooking utensils I've owned.Overall, I'm glad I bought it, and it was worth the $$.It just seems a little bulky to store.Wish KA would come up with some kind of rack for these things to go on. ...
