Editorial Review

Washing and drying leafy vegetables has never been simpler or more fun than with this gadget. One hand is all you need to press the soft, cushioned knob to start the spinning; when the built-in brake is applied and the job is done, the basket and bowl can be taken apart and used separately. The knob locks down for easy storage, and the spinner is dishwasher-safe. Use this tool with lettuce, raw spinach, broad-leafed herbs, and greens--they end up clean and oh-so-dry, and the drier your leaves, the better salad dressings will adhere and the less mushy your sandwich bread will become. Puddles at the bottom of your salad bowl disappear... Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. Read more

Features

  • Fun, simple operation requires only one hand
  • Nonslip knob is soft and cushioned; brake button stops spinning with a fingertip
  • Great for washing and drying lettuce, herbs, greens
  • Plunge-style knob locks down for easy storage
  • Dishwasher-safe on top rack

3-0 out of 5 stars Worked fine...for a while
This worked pretty well for me 2-3 times a week for 18 months. Then the plunger used to spin the inner colander started jamming and finally couldn't get unstuck.I still use parts of this as a bowl and colander.Still, I would expect this to last a little longer.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best
Easy to use, very effective and great looking. I've tried the others - string pulled and cranked - and this is simply the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best salad spinner out there!
It's so great, I bought a second one for our weekend house. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The SaladShooter makes a fabulous gift for those who like big, healthy salads loaded with veggies, homemade pizza with plenty of grated cheese, desserts topped with nuts or chocolate--find yourself in that portrait somewhere? Amazingly fast, the SaladShooter literally shoots out prepared food directly into a salad bowl or in neat piles for an assemble-your-own taco party. Featuring sharp stainless-steel cutting blades, the two interchangeable cones, one for shredding and one for slicing, each slip in and out of the main chute and are secured in place with a twist-lock ring. That’s all--no complicated parts to assemble. Food should be cut into blocks or lengths that fit into the food chamber, and a chart in the user guide specifies which cone to use for which foods. To operate, one hand grips the handle of the shooter and flips on the power switch, while the other hand presses down on the food guide to produce a steady output of shredded or sliced food. There’s no need to wash the parts in between processing different kinds of food, so shredded cheese, lettuce, carrots, and more are ready one after the other. All parts except the motor base can be washed in the dishwasher. The SaladShooter is not intended for grinding coffee or processing cranberries, tomatoes, or meats. Measuring 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inches with a five-foot cord, the SaladShooter is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. Read more

Features

  • Quickly slices or shreds large amounts of vegetables, fruits and cheese
  • One ingredient after another can be added without cleaning in-between
  • Shoots food right into a salad bowl, onto a pizza, or into soup
  • Interchangeable slicing and shredding cones easily attach
  • Dishwasher-safe (excluding motor base); 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inche

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Kitchen Gadget Ever
I'm so happy I accidentally stumbled across this when shopping here. It's really as good as everyone is saying here. It's small enough to tuck away nicely, and cleanup is a snap!
5-0 out of 5 stars replacement
The purchase of this salad shooter replaces our 7 year old shooter. The old one stopped working due to a worn out switch. I was informed by Presto that these items are not repairable. They do not carry parts to repair them. So now my wife has a new shooter that she uses daily and that saves her a lot of time. And now I don't mind helping her with grating the veges as the shooter takes all of the work out of it. It's also very easy to clean. Any one who cooks a lot should have one of these

5-0 out of 5 stars A great timesaver!
I have a Tea Room in TN and use a lot of grated cheese on a daily basis for quiche, soups, sandwiches, etc.The salad shooter saves a lot of time over grating the cheese by hand.My mom has a tea room also and I plan on ordering her one today! Thanks Presto! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A Loser
This is truly the very worst salad spinner I've ever used. I bought it because I'd had a Zyliss that worked beautifully for more than 15 years. True, it wasn't transparent and didn't have the sleek, modern look of this one, but it got the greens dry. This one is easy enough to use -- just pull the string for an appropriate amount of time -- not exactly rocket science. Result: alas, wet, wet, wet. The only way to use the greens is to hand dry them. Moreover, said greens would rot if I tried to store them in the refrigerator overnight. The Amazon rating system seems to require a minimum of one star; left to my own devices, I'd give the Zyliss Salad Spinner none!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love It
This spinner gets out more water than the previous Zyliss one I had.The lettuce also lasts much longer before getting brown.I only use Romaine heads, I don't buy precut bags, and in the previous spinner the lettuce would brown in two-three days. The best lettuce is when you chop it and spin it and put in the fridge for an hour or more before using. If you eat it right away it seems soft and soggy, just like the other spinner. And the lettuce knife is worthless, smashes the leafs.

5-0 out of 5 stars great product
I love it. I couldn't live without it.You must have one if you enjoy Salads! But I did not receive my bonus lettuce knife. Could you look in to this for me.

Editorial Review

Soft-skinned fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, pears, and kiwi might be mangled by a conventional peeler. The serrated double-edged blade on this model slices away rather than saws at delicate produce. The steel blade easily follows the contours of smaller items, meaning it’s also great for removing tough skins from ginger. Double edges allow a back-and-forth peeling motion as well as left- or right-handed use. The extra-sharp steel tip is ideal for removing produce blemishes before cooking. This peeler is dishwasher-safe and features a comfortable, precise grip. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than the invention to slice bread!
To my surprise, this peeler works fantastically on ripe tomatoes!Have given one to everyone in the family. Initially, only one member of the family greatly preferred tomatoes peeled; now everyone does! It's actually easier to peel than to slice unpeeled tomatoes. It takes off only a thin section of skin.Recommend very highly.

2-0 out of 5 stars Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler
I am disappointed in the product.Maybe I don't know exactly how to use the peeler.I will continue to try.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kitchen Essential
The Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler is definitely an essential tool for the kitchen.I have used it to peel tomatoes, pears, mangoes, and ginger with excellent results. The swivel head makes it easy to follow the shape of the item, even the ginger, the sharp serrated teeth on the blade easily grips the skin, and the tip does a great job of removing bad spots from produce.I recently peeled really soft mangoes with it, expecting that it would be a mess, but the peeler took away the skin with no problem, and the mangoes were left intact. It's refreshing to have tools that aid in food preparation and that deliver consistent results.Anyone that uses soft skinned produce will appreciate this peeler. The impeccable performance and the easy grip handle make the process of peeling soft skinned fruits and vegetables much easier.

4-0 out of 5 stars Make Quick Salads For Dinner
This handy device works well to dry lettuce quickly so that now if I decide I get home too tired too cook I can make salad fast. The puul cord makes this work fun too. The only draw back is cleaning the cover. Water gets trapped and takes a while to dry properly. Otehrwise a neat little gadget. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good looking, functional and......
Does a great job rinsing and spinning but it is a little on the small side.Large salad for 4 is max.Spins dry enought to package greens in baggies and keep in the fridge. It's also nice to be able to use the attracive stainless steel bowl on the table and the lid in the fridge. The handle did pop off while spinning; hope this is not a regular occurance.I think it beats the plastic models hands down.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great tool
I love this salad spinner. We have a family of 5 and I find it holds enough lettuce for all of us.I've been using it to dry the lettuce, then taking out the strainer, drying out the bowl and then mixing the lettuce in it with whatever toppings & dressings we want. It's worked great for me.It's so easy to wash we've done it by hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nifty Salad Spinner

4-0 out of 5 stars Much Better Size Spinner
Having struggled with the full size Oxo spinner and really liking how well it worked but hating how much counter space and cabinet space it took up, I was very pleased to get a hold of one of these smaller units.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I'm a big OXO fan and this thing is just awesome!Berries, herbs, salad; it all spins dry.I really like caesar salads and I let the lettuce soak to rehydrate and get dirt, chemicals, bugs, etc. off. Put the lettuce in here, press the button a few times and presto, dry romaine lettuce. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pedrini Black & Satin Salad Spinner
The Pedrini salad spinner is a nice addition to a kitchen. The only problem is that the gears do get out of sync occasionally, but not to the point that it is unusable. It comes completely apart for easy cleaning.

5-0 out of 5 stars NOT A WET LEAF IN THE CROWD!
The Pedrini Salad Spinner really gets them dry, and it's quicker than trying to do it with towels, actually does a better job. This is important if you're not going to use all the salad greens at once. They'll last a long time in the bottom drawer of the fridge if they're stored in a ziplock bag that is sealed tight, with the air squeezed out, and the leaves are dry.The lack of oxygen will slow their respiration; the cold will prevent wilt; and being dry will keep them from rotting.

4-0 out of 5 stars great price, great design
it's very cool looking, if that matters to you at all.i'm an architect, so i'm cursed with the compulsion for purchasing stuff which looks cool, even when it comes to my salad spinners.this one does its job and doesn't look bad on a counter.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lettuce alone!
This is a great unit for washing salad. If you don't like soppy wet leaves resisting the coating of dressing, then you can wave your washed lettuce in a French collapsing basket dramatically on your deck (habit of a very nice friend of mine from France) or you can use this salad spinner.
5-0 out of 5 stars Nance KY
I LOVE IT! I absolutely love this Salad Spinner! We grow our own lettuce and let me tell you how dirty it is when I cut it and have to wash it off!It was a pain to try and dry the lettuce before now. This is so easy and works great!I would recommend this to anyone!!! This is a must for anyone who loves to cook! Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
This is not only good for "salad" but the best feature is the ability to section off and wash berries.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great
A passionate home cook that has been honing her cooking skills for the last 25 years writes this review. My favorite cookbooks are "The Professional Chef" by the Culinary Institute and "Culinary Artistry". I love to cook and I prepare three meals a day most days of the month.
2-0 out of 5 stars Leaves lettuce good and wet
I've tried just about every salad spinner on the market and this one is average at best. After reading some of the reviews on this site I had high hopes, but the spinner doesn't even come close to drying salad greens. Not sure what the point in keeping this thing is if I have to use towells to dry my greens anyway.Another dissapointment is the spinner's capacity. The plunger in the middle reduces the volume of greens the spinner can hold and restricts any internal movement of contents.Although that probably reduces bruising, I would think a little agitation is necessary to enable a path for water movement (otherwise doesn't it just force water against the internal side of the lettuce leave?).If you want a spinner that dries relatively well, look at other brands. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap, but don't expect dry salad...
I got this spinner as a gift 2 years ago and it has only really "spun" 3 times. As a previous reviewer wrote, the inner colander rarely lines up with the lid...it took me a year to realize that when i was spinning the handle the colander inside wasn't spinning at all! hence, soggy lettuce. i say, splurge on the zyliss or oxo.
