Chrome-painted plastic, NOT metal
Most of the rack and lids are not made of metal, but painted plastic. The circular top and bottom are the only metal parts on it, and those are just a thin metal shell over plastic underneath them.

I have 6 of these racks hung in rows of three under a hanging cabinet.They make an excellent way to keep a lot of spices.
Not Free Standing
I have limited counterspace in my kitchen, so I wanted a free-standing spice rack.I live in an apartment and part of the lease agreement is for no nail or screw holes in the wall.I like the design of this rack, plus the price is right, but I was really dissapointed to find out that it does not in fact stand upright.Its too wobbly and tips over.This was a big negative for me because the ad specifically lists free-standing as an attribute. Very disappointed in this product
I purchased 2 of these based on some of the reviews I read. I am SO disappointed.The plastic jars do not have enough weight to make them stay in the rack properly, and I could see right away that they would always be falling out and that would annoy me.Also one of the racks was not screwed onto the revolving part, so I had to find a screwdriver to put it together. After seeing how the bottles of spices would not stay in their places, I decided to send these back.I would NOT recommend this item to anybody.Sorry.

I love this
of course the jars were plastic but I love this. It has a great selection of spices and the jars were very full they seem in great condition. I like the rack itself also.

Not as versatile as previously
This item used to be manufactured with glass jars.That meant that you could empty jars of herbs, etc., you would never use and replace them with ones you do after thoroughly washing the jars and relabling them.Now that they make it with plastic jars, that is no longer possible.

finally found the spice rack that works for me so good in fact that I bought another one.

Poor seals
Generally speaking the design is a good idea.Too bad the bottles don't seal well.The lids are poorly maufactured/designed and do not seal properly.As a test, I put water in one of the bottles and put the lid on nice and tight then turned the bottle on it side and watched the water run out.This is not good for spices as they will not keep well if the container is not sealed.

Don't Expect to Love this.
What a great idea: a spice rack that you can hang next to your kitchen work area that won't be in the way.Wrong.The magnets on the bottom of the spices, fall off.That's right:in the middle of mixing something, a magnet falls off causing a spice to fall onto whatever is close.Of course, the magnets fall off when you're not even close to the rack.You get to walk into the mess in the kitchen after the magnet has come off, the container has dropped, and the lid has come off.
Cheaper Than It Looks - Cheaper Than It Costs
The product looks nicer online than it does in person. When I opened the box, the stand was intact, but 10 of the 12 magnets had popped off the back of the cannisters and I had to reglue them myself.

I purchased this item last week and it just arrived- I have a very tiny kitchen and decided not to use the actual rack- but put the tins on my fridge! Still a great value without the rack though, the spices seem like they are pretty good quality.

Convenient, saves space & easy to use.
I like these spice racks (I own 3 - oldest is 5 yrs old & still looks good).Locates seasonings centrally, so they are easy to find.If you have a lot of seasonings, this saves lots of cupboard/counter/drawer space.As to some of the issues mentioned by others:the measuring isn't totally precise, but definitely close enough if clicking carefully; and never had issues with moisture/clumping (though can smell seasonings, so not likely to be totally air tight).One drawback is that finely ground seasonings do tend to leak a bit in the oldest model, but the newer models seem to have addressed this issue.

Not as good as I expected
I bought mine from JC Penney and I absolutely hate it! (I even have two of them!) Then my mother bought one from QVC and she hates it as well.The worst part about these spice racks is that they are NOT airtight.Thus, many of my spices have gotten moisture from the air inside and well, they've caked up which renders this product useless.And, with the cost of spices these days, that can be pricey.I didn't receive any more than 5 spices with my set and they were mostly ones that I would never use.Weird stuff like Cajun seasoning - not things you use almost every day like Cinnamon.When you try to measure out the spices as directed, you get at least double the amount so I don't recommend just holding it over your recipe and dumping it in unmeasured.It WILL be off.Check out the reviews for this product on cooking.com - they all concur with mine.I definitely DO NOT recommend this product.In fact, mine's going to the Salvation Army after 5 years of aggravation and I'm now here on Amazon looking for something else!

Super Handy for 1 Handed Cooking - Must for moms
I have had this product for 8 yrs - before the internet!I make a meal for my husband & family every nite & could hardly live without this product.It really eliminates the need to wash & dry measuring spoons and takes all the hassle out of making dishes with many ingredients - at least you don't have to get a utensil out for measuring spices.I have had this product in 3 homes (I'm a military spouse) and it has been able to mount under the cabinets in 2 houses thus saving me valuable counterspace & cabinet space due to the small kitchens in military housing.I would highly reccommend this to those who like to cook in tight spaces.Every move, I just empty the spices & run the canister thru the dishwasher, then set out to dry.Of course, the labels had started to come off after 7 years so I simply printed out some new "cutesy" labels for those spices I constantly measure.As I remember, the labels that came with the package included most every spice you could ever want.Money well spent -- 8 yrs ago my hubby bought this for me & it has survived a lot of cooking and moves. ... Fragile Jar Lids
I received this for Christmas last year. I need to put a new spice rack on my wishlist now.

The spice rack looks gorgeous. The only problem I have with it is it came with some odd spices I never use (like caraway seed and fennel), but it did not come with spices like garlic powder or nutmeg! I also found that once you open the lid, it's sometimes hard to close properly again.

Looks Better than it Works
I purchased this item primarily for its esthetics but also thought it might be practical since it would free up storage space.Although it looks okay, I have found that it is difficult to use the twist top since some spices cannot be easily shaken out the small opening.So you have to take the top off the jar which is very tight.You also need a fair amount of counter space to display the easel.
