Poor design; not for dishwasher
The metal "tang" inside the rubber handle of this spade does not go to the end, so when you are wrenching on the thing to dig out hard ice cream, the rubber at the end will bend in your palm and you cannot get any force applied. Also, the coating on the spade does come off in the dishwasher. There IS a no dishwashing warning on it, but the point is that that is very inconvenient.

Great for fruits
This item is great for high acid foods (fruits), but as a beginner I wasn't aware that you can't use it to put up meats or most veggies.You have to use a Pressure Cooker Style Canner to do them, according to the Ball Cook Book that came with it.I've made a couple cases of Fig Preserves, Strawberry Preserves, and Canned Tomatoes.Very easy to use.The cook book has several recipes that I plan on using. ...
