Great little scale
We have used this scale for several years--It's been great for weighing mail for postage, for weighing clay in the studio, and for weighing food. I broke my first one, either by putting something way too heavy on it, or when it dropped off the counter. But I have loved it so much, I am reordering the same scale again.

I bought this as a replacement for a non-digital scale and I just love it. It is convenient, accurate, easy to use, and doesn't take up alot of room.

Digital kitchen scales are kind of like microwave ovens - once you experience them, you'll never be without one.And when this particular one is working, it's a wonderful thing.But I found it to be rather touchy.You must be very careful not to bang it around on your counter while using it - mine eventually went belly-up due to a drop of 8"!God forbid you should drop it on the floor.

Wonderful Scale!
After reading over the reviews on this and a couple other scales, I settled on this one and I am very happy I did!It's pocket size has made eating out so much easier.And it's digital readout is absolutely wonderful.I fix many meals at a time and seperate into smaller 'serving size' packets.This scale has made measuring out 2 oz of protein so much easier.The reset key is great too.I can use either the top as a measuring tray or my own plates.What a wonderful kitchen gadget.

Couldn't live without it!
This scale is a foodies dream.We owned the same one in England but lost it on the move home.So we bought another!It takes up little space and can be stood up on its side because it is square--for storage.The ease of transition between grams and lbs / oz is really 1 touch of a button.I like the ability to zero out with an empty bowl from your kitchen on it and then measure flour, etc usng the same bowl.The batteries last quite a while.If you're in the market for a kitchen scale...look no further.

Broken in less than 1 year
My Salter 1001 scale started having problems within 3 months and broke within 10 months.I am sending the scale back to Saltier for replacement.A good scale while it worked, but what pain this has become.

Good kitchen scale, not for precision weighing
Bought the Salter 1004 Digital Kitchen Scale a few months back and have used it to weigh everything from food to a pine wood derby car.While it's not accurate beyond one quarter of an ounce, it is accurate enough for weighing sliced carrots for a stir fry. So if you are looking for a scale to weigh gold dust, look at another model.

I bought this for the simple design, ability to store upright to save counter space, and the ease of switching between oz. and grams with a button on the front (unlike the Soehlne that was rated best by Cooks Illustrated).That said, the scale is so small that it's sometimes difficult to read the display.Also, it's not terribly accurate.If you want to test it, try weighing 10 quarters.They should total 2 oz.Mine read 1 3/4 oz.If you need super precision, this is not for you.I especially like the conversion between grams and oz. A good kitchen scale for the price
This scale works very well.I recommend it.

Not at all accurate
I checked the accuracy of my scale after I bought it and it was not even close.The instruction manual is not very helpful.The scale displayed in grams by default.To get it to display in lb and oz you have to hold the button down.I thought it should toggle the function, unless mine was defective.I do not recommend this scale at all.

Nice little scale
I'm on a restricted calorie diet and wanted a more accurate way to measure the mass (weight) of the foods I eat.Nothing about the scale has amazed me - it pretty much does what I expected it to do.It works well and its great to be able to choose the color and still at a price thats lower than the mega-mart competition.The scale isn't advertised as a "weigh and add" scale but any digital scale with a tare feature will do this.So if your doing your homework this scale is as much a "weigh and add" as any other digital scale.Just weigh, hit the tare button, and add some more.Basically this scale is from a trusted name, looks great, and does what the competition does for a lower price.I call it a good find. ... It looks great
It is made in China. If it works when you receive it then you may need some help to keep it working.That nice finish is not protected and can be easily scratched or discolored. The instructions are cryptic, at best. My new scale look great but it does not sit flat on the counter top, it wobbles, a bit, and I am sure that this sometimes drives the electronic zero a little nuts at times. I am not sure what this does to the accuracy, but I feel the need to test it. There is nothing that seals the internal electronic circuit from water, etc, just a rubber guard. (I hope it doesn't turn brittle or stiff with time)If you lose it you will be in deep do do. So you must be careful. For this price it should have been made in Sweden, maybe Denmark. It does look great, now I have to remodel my kitchen.

A cup of all-purpose flour weighs 5oz. If I make a double batch of Toll House cookies then I need 4 1/2 cups of flour or (using a calculator here) 22.5 oz.

Not accurate
I've had this scale for awhile and I am noticing that it is not accurate. When I weigh something, take it off, and put it back on, it has a very different weight. A scale is pointless to me if it's not accurate. Also, the slide is flimsy and won't stay at zero between weighings. I would recommend paying the extra $$ to buy a digital scale.

Very Descent Scale
Was pleasantly surprised how small this scale was. Accurately measured the standard food or drink stuff that I got from Walmart. The tare feature is good. Just put the vessel on it press tare and it reads zero. But being a precision scale, I think it needs to be handled carefully. Could use it right out of the box since it came with batteries. Pretty neat.

It's dead, Jim
I have had this scale for about 4 months.It worked fine the few times I used it, but last night I went to use it and it has given up the ghost.I swapped batteries and still nothing.The connection for the 9v battery is VERY loose, and even after crimping and holding it tight it didn't get any juice.Not happy so I will order a different brand and hope it does better.I do not abuse or heavily use my kitchen gadgets, so maybe I just got a lemon.

I Am Just Not Confident About This Scale's Performance
We bought this scale to replace a Soehnle Scale (Vera 9 lb Digital $49.00) that was dropped and broken. This Polder scale is about $20 less and it works okay EXCEPT that the digital read out sometimes just will not settle on a weight and keeps flucuating up and down. We have to remove whatever we're weighing and wait for the scale to power off (no off function like the Soehnle) and then start all over again. It is also not as easy to read the display as I am used to with the Soehnle. For the price, I am going to keep using it for now, but I have my fingers crossed that this one too gets knocked to the floor and broken sometime soon so that I can replace it with a Soehnle. ... Almost perfect...
It's simple, it's cheap, and it works.I'd give it 5 stars, but it would have to be perfect and I think there could be a couple improvements.For example, the zeroing of the scale seems a little cheap, but then we're not measuring gold or subatomic particles.
Elegant but simple
This is a great scale.You can use any pot,plate on it and zero adjust.The nice thing is if it calls for two ingredients, put the first ingredient in as required by noting the weight, then zero adjust and then put in the second ingredient. No need to calculate.The bowl is dishwasher safe and the scale is easily wiped clean.Great products donot have to have a battery, computer and be a gadget.Wonderful mechanical product but as accurate as any digital scale.

Great Dietary Scale and Computer
The secret to staying at a normal weight is to stay within a 2000 calorie diet. I can put virtually any kind of food on this scale, punch in the name of the food, and it will tell me the calories, the protein, the carbohydrates, the sugars, the fat, and a bunch of other things.

This scale is magnificent! A "must have" for diabetics and dieters. It's amazing to see the values of what I never thought to add into my totals, such as the cream in my coffee. Yes, light cream is one of the many pre-programmed foods, along with baby carrots, au gratin potatoes, baked beans with franks, and many other foods that wouldn't be found on an ordinary diet scale...but then, this is no ordinary scale.And what isn't pre-programmed can be added to the database, including my own recipes!If I choose, I can set targets for the day or week of carbs, calories, fat, fiber, sugar, protein, etc., and a press of a key lets me know what I have remaining to use.I can save everything I weigh in memory and review it later to know what I've consumed. Not only that, but if I forget to weigh something, I can add it later manually. It was nice until it died
I really liked this scale.It was used once a week in my kitchen.After about 6 months it just would not turn on.Got new batteries and still nothing.

This scale does its job well.The display is easy to read, units are easy to switch, and it seems very accurate.If the Lithium batteries happen to run out, it comes with an insert so that either Lithium button cells or a 9V battery can be used.Definitely a good scale at a good price from a respectable company. ... Happy scale purchase
Considered the Futura but this scale has a smaller footprint and is easy to switch between grams and ounces/pounds with the button right on top.Glass on top screws off for cleaning.I like it and have had no problems in the 5 months owned it.

I couldn't turn it on either.
I don't know if Amazon keeps shipping the same broken scale or what, but mine would not turn on either.I returned it.
