Attractive and functional pepper grinder
I bought this as a gift for my husband with the matching salt grinder. We've been through about two pepper grinders and they never seem to hold up over the long haul.With this one, I am hoping we will not need to make another purchase, and so far it is by far the best pepper grinder right from the start - you don't have to grind and grind and grind to get a decent amount of pepper out!

Questionable packaging?
This mill is fantastic, as it should be. I was dismayed however to see that the head had received a knock hard enough to chip the lacquer finish. It was packaged only in a bag that had then been placed in a same sized Amazon box with puffpak. Vic Firth not ensuring damage protection loses a star. We still put some peppercorns in to try it and it is a world class mill, grinding either chunk or dust effortlessly. The finish is uniformly smooth, like wet nail polish, and the height makes it a real eye catcher.

Just what I wanted
My wife got me this peppermill for Christmas.I am very pleased with it for three reasons.It has a much larger storage capacity (and wider opening) than our last mill. This means I don't have to fill it nearly as often as I used to and I don't spill nearly as many peppercorns on the countertop.There's still some hoppers, but that's my clumsy fault more than anything. Also, I really like the locking grind adjustment.You can set it from very coarse to powder fine and it doesn't budge over time. Finally, as someone who is in the solid cherry furniture making business, I appreciate the beauty of the wood.Cherry is a hallmark of quality and this peppermill is no exception. Salt shaker
No doubt you'll also want to get the matching pepper grinder aswell, why they aren't sold as a set I don't know.When you get them it can be easy to mix them up and the salt grinder won't effectively grind pepper corns.

Not worth it
The pepper mill and salt shaker set impressed me at first.I liked the color of the wood and the shape of the set.However, the pepper mill doesn't grind consistently and I'm usually left with peppercorns that are only "cut" in half.And now, the bottom to the salt shaker falls out, spilling salt everywhere.I regret purchasing this set and plan on buying a new one as soon as possible.

Can't believe how much it cost, but...
This is a wonderful Pepper Mill. I love the way it looks with the other stainless steel accessories my husband and I have purchased!
