Worked fine...for a while
This worked pretty well for me 2-3 times a week for 18 months.Then the plunger used to spin the inner colander started jamming and finally couldn't get unstuck.I still use parts of this as a bowl and colander.Still, I would expect this to last a little longer.

Best Kitchen Gadget Ever
I'm so happy I accidentally stumbled across this when shopping here. It's really as good as everyone is saying here. It's small enough to tuck away nicely, and cleanup is a snap!
replacement
The purchase of this salad shooter replaces our 7 year old shooter. The old one stopped working due to a worn out switch. I was informed by Presto that these items are not repairable. They do not carry parts to repair them. So now my wife has a new shooter that she uses daily and that saves her a lot of time. And now I don't mind helping her with grating the veges as the shooter takes all of the work out of it. It's also very easy to clean. Any one who cooks a lot should have one of these

another apple slicer
You may have recalled a previous apple slicer review of mine.I enjoy them so much I can't help but review another one.It's just a lot of fun taking an apple and slicing it into eight handy and adorable little slices.Whether you use green apples, red apples, Granny Smith, whatever.This slicer will deliciously make eating apples exciting.If you're a child you can even enjoy eating healthy foods by using this product.The apple will taste better, believe me.You won't have to mess around with no silly core.Just don't go around shopping online without your parents permission.

Good with a major flaw
This devise cores and divides apples with no problem but it is a pain to clean.Where the metal folds over itself in several places there is a gap that collects bits of apple.Cleaning it with a toothpick every time I use it is a pain. Flushing it under the tap doesn't do it.

A Loser
This is truly the very worst salad spinner I've ever used. I bought it because I'd had a Zyliss that worked beautifully for more than 15 years. True, it wasn't transparent and didn't have the sleek, modern look of this one, but it got the greens dry.This one is easy enough to use -- just pull the string for an appropriate amount of time -- not exactly rocket science. Result: alas, wet, wet, wet. The only way to use the greens is to hand dry them. Moreover, said greens would rot if I tried to store them in the refrigerator overnight. The Amazon rating system seems to require a minimum of one star; left to my own devices, I'd give the Zyliss Salad Spinner none!

Love It
This spinner gets out more water than the previous Zyliss one I had.The lettuce also lasts much longer before getting brown.I only use Romaine heads, I don't buy precut bags, and in the previous spinner the lettuce would brown in two-three days.The best lettuce is when you chop it and spin it and put in the fridge for an hour or more before using.If you eat it right away it seems soft and soggy, just like the other spinner.And the lettuce knife is worthless, smashes the leafs.

Good looking, functional and......
Does a great job rinsing and spinning but it is a little on the small side.Large salad for 4 is max.Spins dry enought to package greens in baggies and keep in the fridge.It's also nice to be able to use the attracive stainless steel bowl on the table and the lid in the fridge.The handle did pop off while spinning; hope this is not a regular occurance.I think it beats the plastic models hands down.

A great tool
I love this salad spinner.We have a family of 5 and I find it holds enough lettuce for all of us.I've been using it to dry the lettuce, then taking out the strainer, drying out the bowl and then mixing the lettuce in it with whatever toppings & dressings we want.It's worked great for me.It's so easy to wash we've done it by hand.

Better than the invention to slice bread!
To my surprise, this peeler works fantastically on ripe tomatoes!Have given one to everyone in the family. Initially, only one member of the family greatly preferred tomatoes peeled; now everyone does!It's actually easier to peel than to slice unpeeled tomatoes.It takes off only a thin section of skin.Recommend very highly.

The Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler is definitely an essential tool for the kitchen.I have used it to peel tomatoes, pears, mangoes, and ginger with excellent results.The swivel head makes it easy to follow the shape of the item, even the ginger, the sharp serrated teeth on the blade easily grips the skin, and the tip does a great job of removing bad spots from produce.I recently peeled really soft mangoes with it, expecting that it would be a mess, but the peeler took away the skin with no problem, and the mangoes were left intact.It's refreshing to have tools that aid in food preparation and that deliver consistent results.Anyone that uses soft skinned produce will appreciate this peeler.The impeccable performance and the easy grip handle make the process of peeling soft skinned fruits and vegetables much easier.

Much Better Size Spinner
Having struggled with the full size Oxo spinner and really liking how well it worked but hating how much counter space and cabinet space it took up, I was very pleased to get a hold of one of these smaller units.

Amazon claims this item is Swiss made. It is Chinese made. Seems to work fine but I would probably have bought a cheaper one if I knew ths one was Chinese made as well.

Lettuce alone!
This is a great unit for washing salad. If you don't like soppy wet leaves resisting the coating of dressing, then you can wave your washed lettuce in a French collapsing basket dramatically on your deck (habit of a very nice friend of mine from France) or you can use this salad spinner.

Good, but not great

Leaves lettuce good and wet
I've tried just about every salad spinner on the market and this one is average at best.After reading some of the reviews on this site I had high hopes, but the spinner doesn't even come close to drying salad greens.Not sure what the point in keeping this thing is if I have to use towells to dry my greens anyway.Another dissapointment is the spinner's capacity.The plunger in the middle reduces the volume of greens the spinner can hold and restricts any internal movement of contents.Although that probably reduces bruising, I would think a little agitation is necessary to enable a path for water movement (otherwise doesn't it just force water against the internal side of the lettuce leave?).If you want a spinner that dries relatively well, look at other brands. ... Pedrini Black & Satin Salad Spinner
The Pedrini salad spinner is a nice addition to a kitchen.The only problem is that the gears do get out of sync occasionally, but not to the point that it is unusable.It comes completely apart for easy cleaning.

NOT A WET LEAF IN THE CROWD!
The Pedrini Salad Spinner really gets them dry, and it's quicker than trying to do it with towels, actually does a better job.This is important if you're not going to use all the salad greens at once.They'll last a long time in the bottom drawer of the fridge if they're stored in a ziplock bag that is sealed tight, with the air squeezed out, and the leaves are dry.The lack of oxygen will slow their respiration; the cold will prevent wilt; and being dry will keep them from rotting.

Corroding ring
Not only does the cap not seal, but once the rubber sealing ring that surrounds the cap rips and corrodes off, as it did on mine after 2 months, then the only thing the shaker is good for is measuring recipes. I had to find a new bottle to store the dressing in, and the MIU Dressing Shaker is now collecting dust in my cupboard.

Unsatisfied
There are helpful recipes on the bottle, however the stopper is not secure. I do not feel safe storing fresh made salad dressing in my refridgerator in this bottle.

Lid/top needs improvement.
I agree with the other review that the top is hard to seat correctly and becomes almost impossible once any oil from the dressing gets on the soft seal.
