Couldn't be improved upon
I am not in the habit of posting reviews but I found this particular product such a welcome and refreshing change from regular cake pans that I felt compelled to go on-line to find out whether others were as impressed as I was. I was surprised and disappointed to read that some consumers appear to be having trouble with the product. Yes, it's certainly different from what we might be used to, and that blue color is perhaps not the color I would choose, but I can only report that my own experiences with this cake pan (three cakes thus far - no breakage or sticking!) have been completely successful. I encountered no difficulties with the lattice pattern on the base and it has been a joy to clean. I haven't used the pan in the microwave yet so can't comment on its performance in this regard. But I would unreservedly recommend this modern, space-age product to all cooks, and will certainly seek out other products by SiliconeZone.

Unimpressed
After baking three cakes in the pan, I am totally underwhelmed by its performance. The waffle/diamond pattern in the bottom sticks badly unless you use enough oil and flour to fill them. Then, you wind up with so much flour/oil coating on the cake that you must scrape it off. They do NOT clean up easily even with large amounts of oil and flour. I could not hand clean all the residue. The residue would not come off in the dishwasher, either. Only using a Scotchbrite pad could get them clean and this is, of course not recommended.
Very nonstick, but also very floppy, only rated to 428 deg
This cake pan has a nice shiny surface on the inside, which I assume makes it more non-stick. Some silicone bakeware has a dull inside surface. And cakes do flip out very easily. It also appears to be well constructed. It's flexible yet strong. Though it's a little floppy, so you do have to put a cooking sheet under it to take it out of the oven otherwise you'll break up the cake. When I bend the pan, it doesn't show any white, which indicates no fillers were used.Its other drawback is that it's only good to 428 degrees.That's okay with the cake recipes I use, but it makes wonder about its overall quality. I love this thing!
These are thick hefty aluminum.I love the fact that it is not rolled!Bakeware with rolled edges tend to collect water in the rolled part and leak water from it after washing.I bought two of these pans to make a layered cake.The yellow cake I baked rose evenly and did not stick at all.The bottom of the cake that was touching the pans were uniformly dark terra cotta colored, so the next time I baked the cake I lowered my oven temperature 20 degrees F and everything seemed fine.(In your oven it might be different.)I thought the thick pan material would hold on to heat longer, but cooling is pretty quick.I also baked a pie crust in this (the sides are slightly flared), and this also baked evenly and did not stick.Cleaning is very easy.I use warm water, soap, and sponge. (Grease build up will make the pan less nonstick.)I'm also buying the 9x5 loaf pans.The nonstick coating and the even heat distribution on these are fabulous! ... Read more
