OK for small chickens
I tried to cook a 5 pound chicken and gave up. I didn't have cooking string to hold the chicken together. The unit works OK, but I had it running for about 5 minutes. Maybe I'll try something smaller.

Perfect for two
We bought this to replace another rotisserie that we had left when moving, we sought something that had a small footprint and did the job for us. I researched the available ones for sale and decided that this one would best suit our needs. From the day we got it, I have liked the ease of clean up, and the speed of cooking.We don't need a huge one and we aren't planning on cooking two chickens at the same time.This one does one great, and two cornish game hens at once. It comes with a nice basket for fish fillets and veggies.Overall the machine is great, does what it is supposed to do and is easy to clean.Not much else you could ask. My wife likes the fact that it sticks to the counter top and doesn't move around by bumping into it. We have a small kitchen.

This will cook a 4 1/2 pound chicken perfectly, just like the deli chickens. It may be small but of there are just 2 of you it is great and saves space.

Outstanding Value
I researched many roaster pans before I settled on this and am I glad I did. It offers a truly stovetop worthy construction, no bending or warping, a great v rack, and superb heat distribution. The handles are comfortable and the pan fits perfectly in the oven. Compared to the AllClad, it is less expensive and better performance. A well thought out pan.

Great roasting pan
This pan is just the right size and weight for large roasts and turkeys.The clean up was easy and although it is dishwasher safe, per the use and care guide, I didn't find it necessary.I cook rib roasts using very high heat for 15 - 20 minutes depending on the number of ribs and then turn off the heat and let it set in the oven for a couple hours.The key to this working is even heat distribution and even loss of heat as the oven cools.It worked like a dream, no surprises.I have other Calphalon pots and pans and have been a fan for years - this is no exception - excellent!

"not" like on tv
The so called non stick coating must be cheap black paint, first time you put a basket on the spit you will remove coating from spit.If you follow the recomended time charts you will be eating raw, not rare but raw foods! Two 3.5lb chickens took way over two hours, chart says 1 hour& 20 mins, "no way"!, unless you enjoy chicken cooked to 135f, personaly
Throw it out and forget it.
After about 15 uses over the duration of one year the machine quit working due to an electronic melt down. It was very difficult, if not impossible, to clean and squealed like a stuck pig. The chicken was very good but as it should have been when you consider that it cost over one hundred and fifty dollars plus to cook 15 chickens. Before it burns down your house, do as it did and "Throw it out and forget it"

The Jeep Grand Cherokee of Roasting Pans
Most of my cook- and bakeware is of the hard-anodized Calphalon ilk.That said, I will admit that the Calphalon was not my first choice for a roasting pan.I will also admit that my first choice was the shiny, uptown All-Clad Roti.And I will even be so brazen as to admit that the Roti was my first choice because (a) it is shiny, (b) it is All-Clad, and (c) I am not immune to the whole cache of All-Clad and that whole "kitchen-bling" thing that it has going on.But then I realized that for the cost of the Roti, I could get the Calphalon, a 25 pound turkey, two bags of cranberries, a bottle of wine, and a vintage cookie jar that I have had my eye on.

20 qt roaster oven
love the digital readout.easy to adjust the temperture.the see through window eliminates the need to lift the top.Easy enough for my kids to operate. not built to last
I bought this back in 1999, and I love the way it cooks chicken and salmon steaks, but it's not built to last.First, after about 3 years, the tracks where the door slips onto the bottom broke off due to the screws being too tight, and then the 5th year, the knob broke off, so I have to use pliers to turn it on.It still cooks chicken great, but after trying to superglue the "feet" back on and the knob, they broke again right away.

This machine is a great addition to any home! It does have its cons, but overall the meals produce from this modern marvel are awesome. I have never had dry chicken come out of this machine, ribs are moist and delicious, lamb comes out awesome. Heck, I have even done some venison roast with this insane carnivore contraption, and they came out mouth-watering good.

Very good investment
This thing beats all the modern forms of cooking out there.My ife and I did our first turkey this year for Thanksgiving. It was great!Tender, Moist and Juicy! We did realize the times were a bit faster though, just turn it back to 200 if it gets done earlier and you'll keep the moisture in.Then turn it back up to 400 for about 45 min- 1 hour.It took about 3.5 hours for our 15 LB bird.

Much better than the crock-pot!
I bought this 6.5 qt roaster at Shopko on sale for only $23.88.I think I might as well retire my crock pot!Like the last reviewer, I don't know why more people don't use these small roasters for their everyday cooking.They work just like the large 18-20 qt roasters that are "en vogue" right now for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey roasting.Like a regular oven, the temperature range is from 200 to 450 degrees - use for both slow-cooking and regular cooking.The metal insert pan is much lighter and therefore easier to handle and clean than the heavy ceramic crock-pot inserts.Also, the oval design allows you to spread out foods a little more for cooking than the standard round slow-cooker design.Anything I've roasted is done as fast as it would be in my regular oven, even though you don't preheat.(Example: meat loaf in 45 minutes.)I guess since you don't preheat, it's acutally done faster.I'm sure it's definitely using less electricity than heating the entire oven also.And, you could theoretically bring it on an extended road trip to cook in your hotel or RV instead of eating out!Much easier than toting around a heavy crock-pot or 20 qt roaster oven.The biggest plus for me is that since this is only counter-top accessible, my toddler can't be accidentally burned like with the regular oven that she can reach.It's also a lot easier to baste foods and check for "doneness" without burning myself, too!

The most valuable cooking item in my kitchen.
I have had this roaster oven for over a year.I never leave home for any extended time that I don't take it with me if I will be preparing meals.The heat comes from the sides so never any burned on the bottom foods.Predictable low temperatures to very hot temperatures which can brown the foods.Different from a fry pan and much more versatile than a slow cooker.I am puzzled that more people don't use these.Probably just not very well known.I think its a gem.

get this if you are single
I got mine in April 2003 - after reading review by S Jentsch that said these are a familiar occurrence at family reunions and such.. oh? i had never even heard of them.. I have been using it ever since and hardly ever use the stove oven anymore.If you can barely cook, throw in meat, veg, seasonings, set to bake and an hour or so later - dinner's ready! (you can take off lid to peek at how things are cooking -i have mine on an old dresser in the kitchen - that's its home)Can't imagine living without it.. when lots leftover and i can't be bothered with tupperware etc, well i just put the whole liner in the fridge.. easy to clean.. just fab :)

I am using my new roaster for the hot stone treatments that I do on my clients. It's the perfect size for my in home business. Don't forget to let it smoke for an hour or more, the smell is horrible if you don't.

This is a great roaster!
I really do love this product because it browns things so well on the top and the bottom.HOWEVER, you can't lower or control the temperature, and I have found that the only way to be sure that food browns on the outside while being fully heated through and cooked inside (Other than when cooking meats), the way to go is to cook it before putting it in this roaster.I would heat pizza for a bit in the microwave, then put it in the roaster and get a beautiful crisp fresh from the oven taste.

It STINKS
-It only heats the outer edge of the pan and not the center and this burns and dry's out the edges. Also the NON STICK FLAKES off after a half dozen uses. Love This Pan!
I bought this pan a few months ago based solely on the Cuisinart reputation.I was a bit surprised that it was so thin and light but it hasn't affected the way it cooks.I have used it for everything from a half ham to a gigantic lasagne and have had wonderful results each and every time.If you're looking for a good roasting pan, I recommend this one.

Unit just arrived and it seems to be a nice roaster with the exception of 3, sharp dents on the inside of the lid that extrude to bumps on the outside of the lid.Read more
