Great idea!!!
I really didn't know what to expect when I bought this product, but when I got it I liked it a lot.I can see where it might burn if left pushed all the way on the handle, but I just simply slide it back towards the end of the handle, leave it there, and when I need to move or lift the pan, just slide it back down all the way on.It works like a good quality pot holder, and is a bit non-skid so it tends to grip pretty good.It fits in the hand well, and works as designed.Convenient to use with cast iron since the heat travels up the handles well, and you always need a pot holder or rag to keep from burning your hands.This is a well made product that works as intended.I'm glad I bought it.

Pretty darn good, still have to be a little careful
I got this and the Lodge 2 Piece Hot Handle Holder Set at the same time, and this product is a lot better.It's more substantial, thicker, and because it's thicker (although the same size) it fits the handle more snugly, therefore less slipping around.

Nice BQ mit
I got this because I use the Weber kettle grill with the wide bowl and I need to be able to reach over the hot coals so, this mit does the trick.A well made product.

Not Heavy Duty
This is the second Weber Mitt that I've tried. They both burned through within two weeks. There are other, heavier-duty mitts avaiable that will last a lot longer.

They insulate well, they have much better feel since they aren't thick and lumpy and you can throw them in the dishwasher to clean them.

These gloves are good because they cover the whole hand and wrist, allow for good manual dexterity, and stand up well to abuse.

I love these thick, high quality gloves.I use them for the grill and in the kitchen.They protect my hands from heat really well.Also, we have a gas stove and we've burned many regular cotton oven mitts.These gloves seem flame resistant and have not been burned at all - which is why we purchased these.

Good heat protection, like the true "glove"design
I started using these in culinary school. Our chefs used them. A key is that they have separated fingers which allows you greater control in preparation than traditional mitts. However, due to their woven design, they are not as heat resistant as some heavier duty, Kevlar style gloves. Also, like any glove, if they get wet at all, the heat resistance goes way down.

Fits...like a glove!

The honeymoon is over.
When I bought these (2 of them), I was in love.I could hold ANYTHING and not get burnt.I could even pick up an entire roasted chicken and transfer it to a platter - and then rinsethe mitts under running water.
Gloves that actually work
These gloves address an important issue--protecting hands even when wet. With these, there is no possibility of getting burned unless liquid were to seep in from the top (very unlikely).
The lesser of two evils
I decided to replace my worn, cloth oven mits with these because they were getting worn and so thin that they no longer protected my hands from heat, especially wet heat and spills.

I've had them for years & I swear by them
I have the Tucker burn guard commercial line, kitchenaid and various designer potholders and I've stopped using them all except these Oxo.These are great for blocking the heat.I have smallish female hands and I admit that these mits took some getting used to.Once I got used to them (after the first or second use) I routinely reach for them.Its to the point that I don't even have the other ones out anymore.I am here looking to replace my original set of 3 (2 mits + 1 potholder) and I was surprised by the negative reviews.So surprised in fact that I am writing this review.I swear by them.

Poor functionality for high temp mitt
The mitt provides outstanding protection but it's too stiff and clumsy for regular use in the kitchen.I think it's best suited for moving grills, racks, etc.

Tired of getting burned?
These oven mitts are great. I've had them for over a year now. I was tired of getting burned when taking things in and out of the oven.Since they are extra long you have less chance of burning your arms.They also make it easier to grab things in the oven since the material is thinner and material "grippier." Another advantage of the material is that you don't have the big issue of the fabric getting wet--there's nothing like having a moist cloth oven mitt and the heat permeating to your skin--ouch!!!!!!!!They are very easy to clean too.

I ordered a pair of these recently, because I liked their unique style.But they get dirty quickly, and are hard to clean.They work about as well as you would expect a couple of mousepads to work as potholders.

Wonderfully useful
I love these.Yes, they are a bit stiff compared to fabric potholders, but they are much sturdier and more useful.They offer complete protection regardless of the heat of a pan; they don't conduct heat when damp or wet as a fabric potholder does; they don't burn or stain; they can be quickly washed and immediately used again. They can be used as a temporary trivet to protect a countertop. And they have a bonus use, as a very good way to get a grip on jars or similar items that are hard to open.(I use mine to unscrew the faucet water filter when it needs to be replaced.)Mine are a true fire-engine, primary-color red, neither dark nor orange. I'm more concerned about function than making my entire kitchen matchy, but if you are looking for a subdued shade, these might not be to your taste.I like red because they are easy to spot on my countertop and they remind me that the pan will be hot.
