Editorial Review

Absent a pizza stone, baking a pizza with a proper crust requires a solid pizza pan, and this one certainly qualifies. It's made of heavy-gauge steel so it won't warp or bend, and its nonstick coating is exceptionally thick and durable for easy release and long life. That means the pan, unlike some nonstick bakeware, is truly dishwasher-safe. The pan makes a 12-inch round pizza and is 3/4 inch deep. It can also be used to make cookies, scones, and other baked goods. The pan carries a lifetime warranty against defects. Read more

Features

  • 12-inch pan (3/4-inch deep) for making pizzas
  • Use also as sheet for cookies, scones, other baked goods
  • Heavy-gauge steel construction won't warp or bend
  • Exceptional nonstick for easy release, durability; dishwasher-safe
  • Lifetime warranty against defects

Editorial Review

Pie and pizza might not seem like the most natural companions, but they get along famously in Kaiser's 12-inch pie and pizza plate. With a magnum-coated base that keeps crusts from sticking accompanied by heavy-gauge-steel construction, this plate offers both flexibility and durability. The plate delivers pies with juicy insides and crispy crusts, and pizzas that don't burn on the bottom while browning perfectly on the sides. The cut-resistant magnum coating also lets users slice pieces of pie or pizza directly from the dish. The plate measures 12 inches in diameter. Read more

Features

  • Dual-use pizza and pie plate
  • Magnum-coated base keeps crusts from sticking
  • Durable coating lets users cut slices directly from plate
  • Steel construction cooks pizzas and pies efficiently
  • Measures 12 inches in diameter

Chefs will tell you what your grandmother alreadyknew: nothing beats cast-iron cookware for durability, conductivity, and value. Because cast iron distributes heatso evenly, it's the perfect material for making pizzas, giving them the golden, beautifully textured crust that'sso difficult to achieve outside of a pizzeria's brick oven. And, because cast iron retains heat so well, it also keepspizza or roasted vegetables piping hot while you wait toserve them. At 14 inches in diameter, this pan servesenough pizza or vegetables for the whole family. Season thepan properly and foods won't stick either--no need for asynthetic nonstick coating that might peel or crack. Besure not to use dishwashing liquid on seasoned cast iron, and towel dry and coat with a light layer of oil afterwashing. Never leave cast iron sitting in water, because itwill rust. If you treat your cast-iron cookware properly, your own grandchildren will still be using it when thatfancy aluminum-alloy pan is long gone. Read more

Features

  • Cast iron construction for superior durability and heat retention
  • 14 inches in diameter
  • Nonstick when seasoned; includes detailed seasoning instructions
  • Cooking with cast iron supplements nutritional iron intake
  • Easy-grip loop handles

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE this pan!!!
Even frozen pizza turns out better on this one!We like crispy crust...something you never truly got with the other pans until it was close to setting off the smoke alarm. With this pan you get crispy crust everytime! Also builds strong muscles from lifting it in and out of the oven (careful..it's heavy, not one to be dropping on your foot)...cut your pizza right on the pan...no problems.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great time saver and perfect crust with thick pizza
The cast iron enables a shortcut that can't be done with a stone: we place the cold pan with (kinda thick) pizza on the high burner for 2-3 min before putting it in the oven. The rapid preheat of the pan promotes a good crust and speeds up baking. The handles make it easy to transfer into an oven (which may still be approaching our baking temperature of 450 F). This technique gives us a better result (nicely browned firm crust), while saving lengthy preheat time and eliminating the occasionally messy process of sliding a pizza on and off the stone with a wooden peel. Note also that the cast iron pan, unlike the stone, can be used for storing and reheating leftover slices.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect pancakes, fajitas, the skies the limit.
I was so pleased to be able to make so many pancakes and pieces of French toast at one time, but then I tried it for fajitas. Even better!Marinate steak strips in lime juice, oil, tequila, a few other ingredients. Toss it on the hot pan with sliced veggies, shop aimlessly at Amazon for a few minutes, come back flip everything and there's dinner.Great pan! ... Read more

Producing a dry heat, this pizza stone absorbs moisture and recreates the results of a true stone pizza oven. It retains and distributes heat more effectively than the traditional aluminum or steel baking pans and keeps food warm, even after it comes out of the oven, which makes it very helpful during meals. This stone works well with croissants, rolls, and other bread products, and the set includes a recipe booklet and a serving rack so that you can easily lift pizza or breads out of the oven and onto the dining table. Be aware that, for good long-term usage, the stone should not be washed with soap. Read more

  • Keeps pizza crispy and warm
  • Includes recipe booklet and serving rack
  • 13-inch diameter
  • Wash with water only
  • Useful for reheating food

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for homemade pizza
Since this product was not available, we were able to find a 15" pizza stone with a handle AND a nice pizza cutter [...] and we love it!To use:preheat the oven with the stone AND the handle which makes it very easy to remove the stone when it's hot (use both glove and square pot holders together since it's SOOOO HOT!).There are two successful ways to get the pizza onto the stone.Either roll out the dough and remove the stone from the oven, place rolled dough on top then add toppings and replace into the oven (the amount of heat lost from the stone is practically nil), or assemble the pizza on a non-stick pizza pan (you'll never use it again anyway!!!) or a rimless cookie sheet dusted with flour or cornmeal.Check to make sure it slides BEFORE you add toppings, then use it as a pealUse a combination of a metal spatula and pizza/cookie sheet to remove the cooked pizza if you're making another (and who wouldn't want to make another?) and cool on a wire rack to keep the crust crispy. When the stone cools, clean with water and to remove food & odors, try making a paste with baking soda and water and scrubbing the surface. The pizza stone gets lots of use and our extended family got theirs at The Gooseberry Shop and they love theirs too. They are also great for making or heating breads and rolls.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for cooking pizzas but hard to clean!
I've had this pizza stone for some months now and I've used it a number of times. This stone is muhc more suited for a ready made pizza from the grocery store rather than a pizza you make from scratch. Also it's a bit small (but just the right size for frozen grocery store pizzas) and can be hard to clean, you have to clean it right away after the pizza is done. In any event, it's way better than a metal tray!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great deal for the price
We have had this stone for several months now and it is essential for making the perfect pizza. We have mastered the process and have sworn off commercial pizza joints. It was tricky at first trying to slide the pizza onto the stone. We found that using a piece of cardboard with a sprinkling of corn meal works wonders. We also place the pizza in the freezer so that the dough can firm up a bit.It makes the pizza much easier to slide. We get perfect pizzas every time. The recipe in the booklet makes wonderful pizza dough. It comes out nice and crispy and has a great flavor.Overall this is a great stone and I love the carrying rack. ... Nothing matches homemade pizza for casual entertaining, and Sassafras packages everything you need to get started in this gourmet pizza kit. Assemble your pizza on the natural wooden board, then slide it in the oven onto the preheated baking brick. Made of Superstone, this 15-inch pottery round absorbs moisture and distributes heat evenly so your crust turns out crisp and evenly browned. A rack made of stainless steel transforms the stone from a baking brick to a stay-hot serving platter, and a wheel-style pizza cutter with a wooden handle completes the set. Cleanup is easy: simply scrub with warm water (soap is not recommended for either the stone or the board). Besides pizza, the Superstone has numerous other baking uses. A recipe booklet is included.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this kit!
I received this as a gift from a well-meaning person. But I had the same problem as just about every other reviewer here...the stone broke in two after maybe half a dozen uses.
5-0 out of 5 stars Pampered Chef & Sassafras
Pampered Chef buys its superstones from Sassafras, so the fact that they are cracking is irrelevant to the brand name.

1-0 out of 5 stars Should have paid attention to the reviews...
Yep, mine cracked too, on the 3rd use. I followed all instructions to the letter, and as it was heating up I heard a loud crack from the oven. It had split almost down the middle. Amazon should really consider dropping this product as an insult to their quality standards. Save your money! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I bought this stone just 2 months ago and it has already cracked. It is not thick enough as compared to other stones. The only reason I purchased it was that I was looking for a 15 inch stone that was round and that had a lip. This was one of the only ones I could find. I have been making pizza's for over 20 years and the flat stones seem to work best. If the stone were made thicker I would try it again. Sorry for the disappointing news.

1-0 out of 5 stars Broke on second use
What more can I say than it broke on the 2nd use while it was in the oven cooking its second pizza?I know what more I can say, there is also no phone number to contact and no address for sassafrass.
1-0 out of 5 stars Sassafras baking stone 15 inch
We have had our Sassafras baking stones for at least 7 years. We now have two of them, a 13 inch and a 15 inch.We just love them.We have never had the break on us.The SECRET is DO NOT CUT ON THE STONE!!!!!!!! The pizza should be slid off onto a pizza palet or something else and THEN cut into pieces. When you cut on the stone, you are scoring the stone, thus leading to its breakage. ... Read more
