One Handed Wonder
I own 2 of the countertop model and love them.When I saw this--I had to get more.Works like a charm.I was able to mount vertically but had to add a plastic disc to bottom of spindle to keep towels from unraveling off roll.

Attractive and Functional
This truly is the best paper towel holder/dispenser I've ever used.For kitchen, bath, or workroom, the easy tear, one hand operation is extremely convenient.The description is dead on, it's very attractive and just as easy to install as any other.So, if you're looking for appearance and functionality, this is well worth the very reasonable price.

The ideal kitchen accessory
Like pretty much everyone else here, I am totally pleased with this towel holder. It has simple installation, it looks clean and modern, you really can dispense towels with one hand (and it really isn't that noisy -- I have skittish cats and they got used to it right away), and my favorite part is that you attach the towel roll by just sliding it along the rod, rather than having to pull apart two sides to hold it up, like with a lot of other towel dispensers. Terrible-Don't Buy
I read all of the reviews and thought this was the paper towel holder for me. Boy, was I wrong. It looked beautiful when it arrived and I couldn't wait to use it. Well, I put on my first roll of paper towels and pulled one off. The racheting system worked ok until it came towards the end of the roll. The racheting stopped and jammed and the paper towels ripped in half instead of where they were supposed to. I am going back to the old paper towel holders that just have a stick holding the roll and not a racheting whisk like bar. Jesh, all I want is a paper towel not aggravation. Which is what I got with this item.

Classy paper towel holder
This is my second purchase of this ratcheting towel holder. It's a gem. Works perfectly -- just enough resistance to allow you to tear off what you need, no more and no less. Sturdy, unless you drop it from counter height to a hard floor, which is why I'm buying another. The pole is now wobbly (worked beautifully 'til that moment of tragedy, though). So this first one will go into the laundry room and my new one will replace it in the kitchen. I don't usually care about such silly things as paper towel holders, but this one is so nice that I immediately dashed to my computer to order a replacement -- I guess that's a testimonial of how much I like it. You'll find yourself using more paper towels than usual... just because it's fun to make that clickity-clickity ratcheting noise... so be warned ;)

Not the worst or best
We tried a lot of paper towel holders. this is not the best, but at least it works decently. The post bends too easily at the bottom, where it attaches to the base. But once striaghtened up, the thing works if one ios careful not to bend it off or exact vertical. The little other small guide post on the base does absolutely nothing. ... Read more

Perfect!!!
This magnetic paper towel holder is just perfect for that small kitchen where space is at a premium. Not only is the holder convenient stuck on the side of my fridge next to the kitchen sink, but also the magnet is very strong when I rip off a sheet from the roll of paper. The holder doesn't move a whisker!! Great value--highly recommended!!

Its big, its bad
A towel holder that stands on its on merit, you can yank a towel out and it don't budge. Would have gotten 5 stars but getting the knob off the shaft that holds the towel was a real bear the first time -- had to use a channel lock plier and left some slight indents. ... Read more

It is everything I wanted except for one extremely annoying little detail, you have to unscrew the globe-like atlas on the top for quite a bit and remove it prior to replacing the paper towels. Good lookin Till you get it home
I was happy with the sleek look - but unfortunately it's kind of cheaply made. The vertical rods that keep the paper towel in place are loose and bending and no way to tighten at all! Nice looking until you use it, then kind of cheesy. There is acutally the same looking one at Macy's (I have only seen it in-store) and the vertical rod is not loose its very tight, very well made and....inexpensive!!

Don't unscrew the knob . . .
For the most part I really like this paper towel holder.It's sturdy enough for me, but I must not be yanking off the towels as hard as everybody else apparently is.I would suggest not unscrewing the top to change the roll, as it is not a simple task to put it back together.The knob and rod are actually two or three pieces, not one as you would think.Anyway, I've found that you can just pull the empty roll up over the knob and replace it the same way, without unscrewing the top.It's actually easier than screwing around (hah!) with the knob. ...
