Raw foodist perspective: works great for my purposes
I bought this thermometer to use it with my dehydrator. If you want a living raw food, you need to make sure that the food temperature doesn't go too high, else the enzymes start to die. However, initially is okay to use a higher temperature - you just need to lower it after you get there, and this technique reduces the drying time to half or so. The dehydrator I have doesn't have a thermometer (of course it has a thermostat), so the Taylor comes handy to measure the air temperature to know when it's time to do that. Also, it's very precise.
3 month Review
This thermometer worked flawlessly for the first 3 months, then the probe broke. Don't ask me how it broke because I cannot see inside the metal do-hicky. A replacement probe is $10-15 provided you can find one.
Some annoying features
First, when you use the temperature probe, the meat temperature shows on the display. Also, it is very easy to set the temperature alarm. However, there is a small switch that must be turned on to activate the alarm. Good for one burned roast. Granted, a mistake you will only make once.

Great invention, poor execution
I bought the Taylor Wireless digital cooking thermometer with remote pager, Model #1474, from Amazon in July 2005.
Easy Cooking
I first seen the Taylor Wireless Thermometer on a cooking show thought it would be a useful accessery. I have since purchased two one for my son and the other for me.We both have had very good results and would highly recommend this product.The remote comes in handy the alarm is easy to hear and accurate.

Base appears to work- but remote is a joke
This is a cheap piece of junk.The base won't communicate with the remote even after extensive review of directions and trying different channel selections as directed.The plastic housings are so lightweight I don't think it'd survive ordinary outdoor use either.Certianly not a drop off your grill.Felt like I had to handle it gingerly so I didn't crush it with my hands.This one is going back -Sorry AZ. ... Readability
This oven thermometer by KitchenAid is quality through and through just like all of their products.I love it because it is so easy to read - not only its size but the angle of the dial makes for a quick reading.I also appreciate the ability to hang it or set it on a shelf.

Great for slow barbeque
The Polder is an excellent device, especially for a slow barbeque when opening the grill dissipates heat.Only fault is that whe I accidently left it out , later rain destroyed it.

Great easy to use timer
This is a great timer.Very easy to use.It's the second time we've purchased this timer.The first one finally stopped working after about 2 years heavy use.We kept the probe, which is fine, as a spare.I give it 4 stars rather than 5 because it would be nice if the alarm was a little louder.It is hard to hear over the sound of frothing milk.Still a great timer.

Every fridge owner should buy this for their peace of mind.
Somehow we endured a terrible GE fridge that the repair department insisted was working fine from 1998 until last week!Well, our new fridge works because I now get to experience chilled MILK again in my home.I bought this thermometer just the same and my years of privation have left such a mark on me that I will probably always want one of these for whatever fridge I call my own.

Taylor is known for its thermometers.I have used many of them through the years.This professional freezer-refrigerator thermometer is great.We had problems with our refrigerator/freezer and after my husband fixed it, we needed to have an accurate reading on both compartments.We like this one because it is large.You don't even need your glasses to check it to see if your fridge or freezer is in the correct temp. zone because the areas are clearly marked in color.It also responded rapidly when moved between the two compartments.The angle of the dial makes reading very easy.

Good Tool
Used regularly for over a year.Wouldn't roast a turkey in the oven or BBQ a pork shoulder on the outside grill without it.Much more convenient than probe-type thermometers because you can leave the oven door/grill lid shut.Alarm works for time or temperature, so you really must not be paying attention if you overcook anything with this tool.No problems so far, but I handle it carefully.It is, after all, just plastic.

Not a bad product, if you are careful with the probe
I first got a timer/thermometer as a Christmas gift, and loved the idea of it.Unfortunately the one that I got never beeped....well, it never beeped loud enough for an ear more than 6 inches away to hear it anyway.So I quickly got another one, the Pyrex Professional digital thermometer/timer.

The temperature readings were spot on.
Life span
The temperature markings on this thermometer are not protected!Over time the markings get occluded by grease and if you try to wash the grease off the markings come with it. This means the thermometer has a short life span for people who rely on the markings for anything (which granted is not everyone).Last time I buy an oven thermometer in which the markings don't sit behind a glass face!.

It's quit working - Unreliable
This thing worked for a while but now it is acting very strangely. I tried to get information from Polder online and found no supporting documentation. My guess is that the probe is the problem, but a replacement probe is $20 and a new complete unit is $25. I guess I will fall back on the old reliable analog manual stick-in-the-meat thermometer and trash the Polder.

Didn't last a month, not user-friendly
This was purchased around Christmas to replace a Williams-Sonoma probe style thermometer that was several years old and finally stopped working.After using this Polder thermo-timer for less than a month, I will be going back to Williams-Sonoma to purchase a replacement for it and will not buy Polder again.
Please don't waste your money.
I purchased this for use with my smoker, right out of the box, it worked great. The controls are intuitive and well designed.Worked like a charm until the second time around when it started registering inaccurate temperatures.I was extremely careful with the probe, not getting it wet or crushing it. I have to agree try another model
I have an older oven and the temperature fluctuates in it.I currently have 2 different themometers in the oven just to verify that Im cooking at close to the right temp.
It passed before its time
I received this item in the fall of last year, and upon returning to my apartment this January, I discovered it was non-functional after less than 3 months of use. However, the cheap oven thermometer that I bought at Kroger 5 months ago is still going strong.

Very inaccurate
This is the worst oven thermometer I've ever used.The clip is flimsy, so the thermometer falls off if you move the shelf, and the base is flimsy, so it's difficult to stand up. It is also wildly inaccurate.Sometimes, it's off by as much as 75 - 100 degrees.

Stinks on Ice
I bought this to replace a Polder oven thermometer that had a shattered face.Worked once, now the needle is stuck at six o'clock.Unacceptable, I will replace it with a different brand.

I think this is great!
I read all the reports last year about having a refrigerator thermometer, especially after Katrina, and figured it was about time I got one.Well, I have been happy with this one!I purchased it elsewhere but I love it!Suction cups are tricky things and I noticed if I open and close the door a lot, it gets a little loose, but it is no problem to moisten it and restick.I have kept this on the door so I can read it easily.I just love a digital readout and am happy someone finally did one for the fridge!I put it in the freezer for fun too, and it worked great there too!

Not bad, not great
My two main gripes are that (1) the suction cup tends to work rather poorly at cold temperatures, which is something you'd think they would have considered for this particular device, and (2) that it can be very hard to read the digits at an angle or in the refrigerator lighting, and if you remove it to read it, it will quickly fog up and also start heating almost immediately, resulting in an inaccurate reading.The second point is really mostly a nitpick, as it would be hard to fix this without going to a more expensive backlit LCD display, but the first point is a fundamental flaw. ... Did the job, while it was working.
This thermometer does the job you can expect from a thermometer-it gives you the temperature whithin whatever you are cooking. If this thing was working I can't see any reason why not giving it a 5, but since mine broke after a few months (like previous reviewer)I can't give it more than 1 star. $20 doesn't seem to be much but for a small piece of electronics I think that you should get more for your money.

Another good Polder product
The Polder Digital REfrigerator/Freezer Thermometer does exactly what it is supposed to do: Monitor the inside temperature of my freezer. While I have had several freezer thermometers over the past decades, I like this one the best: I can set the temperature I want to trigger an audible alarm, I can turn off the audible alarm if I so choose (for instance, when I am reorganizing the freezer's contents), and I can always see what the inside temperature is. I also like the feature that permits removal of the battery unit without disturbing the stick-on pad when batteries need replacing.
The thermometer with loss of memory
I have a new freezer so this dandy item seemed to meet the bill. Unfortunately, the unit doesn't seem to really want to monitor freezers, but prefers refrigerators.
