It's not that big
I ordered this unit expecting it to be some behemoth based upon a few of the reviews here. I thought I would straighten out the size question. It is a quite reasonable size. It fits easily in my cabinet which is a standard size kitchen cabinet with 1 shelf. Also, it has been said a few times that it needs a huge amount of oil. I measured it. If I fill halfway between the min and max lines, it uses exactly 10 cups of oil. Not too bad. 12 cups would probably fill it to max. it's definitely less than a gallon.

Just doesn't work well.
We've had the same KitchenAid mixer since the 70's, and we love it.But we thought why not give our little "yellow wonder" to our daughter and buy ourselves a shiny nearly-new one.Well, it arrive looking great.But when my husband starting his bread-making ritual he found that the dough hook did not reach the bottom of the bowl as it had on our old one, and the motor did not sound very healthy.Returning the machine has become a nightmare.I now have a firm promise that UPS will pick it up in the next three days...this is after several exchanges and having it sit on our enclosed porch for pick-up a month now. ... Good machine, lasts a long time
Like most people, I've owned several coffee makers over the years, and currently have a cappuccino maker, pod coffee maker, 1-cup-at-a-time maker, but the Krups Crystal Arome Plus Time is my favorite maker if I want a good cup of coffee.
Yes, it does have design flaws
Enjoyed reading reviews of the design flaws of this coffee maker. I agree with the user who says she doesn't use filters. Neither do I. My water is already filtered. (You can get the filters at some stores, ie Bed, Bath and Beyond.)The flashing light is very annoying, resetting the unit is a pain. An important note about leaking carafes. I have had my unit for about ten years, so I have had several carafes. Some carafes leak no matter how slight an angle you pour at, except for dribble. Other carafes do not leak even if you tip the pot to 90 degrees. This is a quality control issue. With one pot, my mother would always pour it all over the counter, when she visited, no matter how many times I showed her the dribble angle. Also, the lid of my unit is showing signs of aging after all this time, so it has a slight warp, which causes the top to sometimes not sit properly and for water to leak out onto the counter top. This is an annoyance, but, hey, the thing is ten years old. Overall I have found it to be a long lasting and reliable coffee maker, despite the design flaws, and I would have to see some convincing data before I replaced it with another model.

Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid not up to snuff
My reconditioned stand mixer arrived with a slightly dented and scratched stainless bowl,and slight blemishes on the unit itself, which is perhaps to be expected receiving a "used" item.The motor was sluggish, not really powering up as quickly as it should once the lever was engaged.The motor also sounds problematic when in use.

We've been wanting one of these for ages but the price (400.00) had been way too prohibitive, so to get this for less than half was a deal we could not pass up.
