5-0 out of 5 stars Great Mixer andparts information
The review from "gtad" is great. This is a review to expand on the information provided thus far.

I have been comparing so many different models for over 2 months now.I was sold on the professional at Sams Club for just under $300 and noticed this one on a friday sale.I compared both models and called Kitchenaid to verify the models and motors, etc.It arrived today and I can honestly say it is better than I expected.Wow is all I can say

5-0 out of 5 stars Trying to decide? This may help.
I have been doing a lot of research on KitchenAid Mixers. Below is some information I felt may be of use to others trying to decide on a new KitchenAid Mixer.

With its ample dimensions and burly construction, this commercial 5-quart KitchenAid mixer is prepared to be a culinary beast of burden. Smartly engineered so that the beater moves clockwise while the shaft moves counterclockwise, the beater reaches every part of the bowl without requiring it to rotate. 5 mixing speeds plus a stir setting means the appliance can do everything from folding cranberries into biscotti to whipping up a fluffy meringue. The all-metal construction includes a heavy-duty motor to handle stiff batters and a hardwearing transmission that ensures continuous power. The mixer’s seamless, stainless-steel, 5-quart bowl stands flat on its indented base and features sealed handle and bracket connections that meet NSF standards. A professional-style bowl lift raises it easily and securely into position, even if it’s brimming with weighty dough.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Get this Model for Weekend/Holiday occasions!! Mixer Shoppersdon't be Stupid!!
Don't mind my bad spelling but........We rate it Four Stars becuase of the expectations of KitchenAide products are high. We believe that this model is great for holiday and weekend bakers/cooks. Not for the everyday, likes to make everything under the sun type( if you are thats great!). The value is awesome and recommend that you buy the pouring shield along with it ( around 20$). Power is at a 7 becuase there are stronger models available. Duribality is an 8. Versatility is a 9. Easy use is a 8.5. And cleaning is a 9. Value is a 10... So overall its an 8.6! So take some time to read other reviews and to helpb make your choice, but we recommend KithenAide brand of mixers overall.

3-0 out of 5 stars Want More Power and Metal Gears, Go With The RKG25H0X
I noticed the great price on this machine, but after checking the specs, I decided to go with an upgraded model. If I'm gonna finally get a KitchenAid, I want to get the best machine possible, and for only $30 more, you can get the RKG25H0XWH which features metal gears (the RRK5A has nylon) and a 450-watt motor (the RRK5A has only 300-watts).
5-0 out of 5 stars Bread kneading
You guys do know that you shouldnt fully knead the bread dough in the mixer. You start it partially and knead the rest by hand so you dont over work the dough. then you let it rise, then punch it down and then form it into the shape you need then bake away. Kneading the whole process in a mixer is a lazy mans way of making bread. we used this same mixer through my Le cordon bleu culinary program and it worked fine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All around excellent oven
I purchased this oven to replace my toaster and to use in place of my large convection oven for daily cooking. So far I have made lamb, steak, and BBQ chicken. All of the meats came out beautifully cooked and moist and tender on the inside. I broil the meats following the cooking times in the Betty Crocker's New Cookbook. Additionally, I made a bagel, which I put sliced side up, increased the darkness by two levels, and used the bagel feature. It came out perfectly and evenly golden brown, better than my previous Russell Hobbs toaster. I do agree with other reviewers that it would be nice to have the option to have it turn off when the timer runs out.Overall, highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOL at the bad toaster comments
Doesn't anybody remember the good ole days of using a toaster oven? They're not SUPPOSED to toast on both sides! I'm sorry, but I'm laughing out loud at the folks who've posted comments about this toaster oven not being good because it doesn't toast on both sides. This is a "toaster oven", not a "toaster". Hello!? If you want your toast toasted on both sides, then buy a toaster. lol. What a toaster oven does, is toast the top of things, and it warms things like frozen pizzas, pot pies, casseroles, etc. I've never actually baked anything in one, so can't comment on its baking ability. But this is a good toaster oven...if you use it for its intended purpose. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVE this
I'm single and live in a small apartment. I don't like to crank up the oven because preheating takes a good 10-15 minutes, and cooldown just as long. And then there's the fact that it heats up the entire place. Not fun in summer in the South!

3-0 out of 5 stars Loved it but now unhappy
I love that it is so easy to clean - just take it apart and put it in the dishwasher (especially since I hate washing dishes) but after only two washes in the dishwasher (on the top shelf even) the lettering has smudged so badly I can't read it anymore and I am unable to tell what temperature I have set the fryer for.It would be nice if they could come up with something more permanent.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
We used this item a few times at home. It gives out a terrible smell. We could not use it inside the house. Then we used it a couple of times in the backyard. However it is so inconvinient. Cleaning is also very difficult. We pretty much never use it anymore. It turned out to be another useless kitchen electronic.
1-0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't buy it again
Wanted this because of the way it lets you drain the oil so that the next time you use the fryer the oil is clean. That's the only good thing about it. I've had mine a few months now. The first time I used it and washed it , the writing came off the front so you can't tell where to turn the knob for the right temperature. The oil leaks out the bottom (even though I make sure it securely seated on the heating unit) and goes across the counter, can't pick it up to clean the oil up until it cools down. The handle on the basket won't stay locked and when you go to pick it up out of the fryer with the hot food in it, it comes unlocked. After burning my hand because of this, I decided to write this review. If I can find one I'll go back to using the Grandpappy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted and MORE
After reading all the reviews, doing research, and agonizing over whether to buy this model or not, I took the plunge - and I am glad I did. I love this toaster. I've experienced none of the problems that I have read about in these reviews. In spite of its size (not that bad actually) and lack of color choices, I would buy this model all over again.
1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
This is my first review ever on Amazon.Everyone (five members)in my family does not like this toaster.
3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't quite do the job!
I did all this research to find a great toaster. I have been disappointed in most toasters I have owned. I thought Krups FEP4B would be the one. However this toaster falls short. It looks great, it is very attractive on the counter, guests always remark on how cool the toaster looks.

Grilling really can't get much easier than this. After assembling the grill (which takes only a few minutes), simply plug it in and allow about 10 minutes to fully preheat the surface while you gather your steaks, kebabs, or whatever's to be grilled. The electric heat has an adjustable range from low (for keeping food warm) to high (for searing steaks). The nonstick grill surface not only means you can use a minimum of added fat, but it also makes cleanup a cinch. The surface has a subtle slope, with channels that draw accumulated fat or other liquids into a tray just below the surface. The high domed and vented lid helps create a circular flow of hot air to ensure even cooking--particularly important for a large roast or whole chicken.Read more

Features

  • No-fuss grilling made easy, for use indoors or outside
  • Grill can be used on pedestal (stands about -1/2 feet high) or on tabletop
  • Uses electric heat, with adjustable range from low to high
  • Sloping grate base draws fat away from food to collect in easy-to-empty tray
  • Grill top measures 17 inches across for generous cooking capacity

3-0 out of 5 stars did anyone have a problem with this unit not being sturdy
did i put it together wrong? my unit is not sturdy and this unit has so many great remarks

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!!
This grill is perfect for my use.I don't have have a tank of gas in my yard or wait for charcoal to get to the right temp.No fire hazard. All I do is plug it in wait 5 minutes and I have a grill top that browns with grill marks and nothing falls threw the grate. The size is very adequate for my needs.I can grill up to 6 chicken breats at one time.I put the cover on, close the vent, and can ensure proper doneness with juicy flavor. The grill cleans easily. I put aluminum foil over the drip pan and just toss.I found a small grill cover which keeps the unit clean and dry.I just love this grill.

5-0 out of 5 stars A propane grill alternative
I bought this for our vacation home because I wanted something ready to use when we arrive. This grill just plugs in - grills food easily, clean up is a snap and is easy to pick up and store.I got exactly what I was looking for.I had thought of getting the Weber Baby-Q but that cost over twice what the George Foreman does and the cooking surface is larger.I am extremely happy with my choice. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I had only used my fryer a handful of times before I noticed a significant decrease in heat. It was nowhere near the temperature indicated on the dial and I would have to increase the heat frequently just to keep cooking at a lower than desired heat. By the end of the second or third batch I have the dial maxed and it's barely adequate to get the job done. The troubleshooting guide in the manual made no mention of this particular issue. I've gone back to frying in a pan and shopping around for another deep fryer.
4-0 out of 5 stars VERY VERY EASY TO CLEAN LIKE NEW
I ONLY HAVE THIS ITEM A SHORT TIME. SO I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL DEVELOP A LEAK AS I SAW IN ANOTHER REVIEW. BUT,MY UNIT WORKS VERY NICELY SO FAR. THE WHOLE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS FRYER IS HOW EASY IT IS TO CLEAN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE OIL IN ANY WAY. THE WHOLE THING COMES APART IN TEN SECONDS, GOES INTO THE DISHWASHER AND COMES OUT LIKE NEW.IT AUTOMATICALLY FILTERS AND DRAINS THE OIL. YOU END UP WITH A TUPPERWARE TYPE CONTAINER WITH PRETTY CLEAN OIL TO USE AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE UNIT HOWEVER IS PRETTY SMALL. FOR EXAMPLE IT MAKES ABOUT TWO NICE PORTIONS OF FRENCH FRIES AT A TIME.

3-0 out of 5 stars Clean But Flimsy
I'm not as confident using this product as I was my Delonghi Safely Fryer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good Blender for the price
I make smoothies nearly every morning and the occasional party drinks (Margs, Coladas, etc.). I had been using a basic Oster blender that I purchased from, I think, Target in college over 5 years ago. It got the job done, it was just VERY loud and I was always having to stick a spoon down in it to break up "ice jams". So I figured it was time for an upgrade. I was hesitant to buy this machine because it was refurbished and didn't want someone's nasty used goods on my kitchen counter. I've also noticed that KitchenAid stuff is very hit-or-miss with the quality. Some items such as my pancake griddle and kitchen tools (can opener, mixing spoons, spatulas, etc) are excellent. Other items like the hand food chopper and the vegetable and apple multi-slicer just plain SUCK! So, I took the gamble. My refurbished blender came yesterday and was in good, not excellent, condition. Some of the Styrofoam had rubbed off on the lid so much that I cannot get all of it off. Also the base was a little scuffy, but overall it was in good shape for the price. I used it this morning for the first time, after washing it, to make a smoothie. It worked pretty good.It took a lot longer than I had hoped to actually blend everything evenly. I did notice that it didn't get rid of ice chunks as well as it should. However, it was SO quiet! Even on the highest pulse speed, it was so quiet. Maybe I'm comparing it to the Oster I have been using which is almost mind-numbing, even for me in the morning when my mind is already numb. Overall for the price, it's a decent blender, but nothing to really go crazy over.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not well refurbished
We received this quickly and it looked great, felt heavy and substantial etc.The first time I used it I noticed that mango was not very well blended - a mango!Hardly the toughest of fruits to blend when mixed with orange juice and a banana! The second time we used it the ball bearings seemed to stop working and the whole thing is just unusable. We will be returning this pronto and feel that we've wasted too much time on this product. It's just too much of a lottery with refurbished.I'm glad that some people got one that was properly fixed. This one was not, and I hope that some other sucker doesn't wind up with it when we return it!

4-0 out of 5 stars good little blender
I gave this blender 4 stars because it's practically perfect. It's compact enough to fit easily under my overhead cabinets. The other thing I really like is that it's so very easy to clean. The base is all smooth and you just wipe it off. No cracks or crevices to collect stuff. The only problem with this blender is that it always leaves a few small lumps of something, ice cubes or fruit. It's not a big deal and I'd love it if it blended perfectly. After other blenders I've had, the good qualities of this one more then make up for it's one downfall. Otherwise it blends quietly and very efficiently.I like the glass container, don't like the plastic ones that seem to scratch and get crummy looking. this is one of the bestblenders I've ever owned and I got it at a great price. No problems at all with it being refurbished. It was packed up like it was brand new. ... Read more

KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. The bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mixer Looks Brand New
I have owned a factory-reconditioned KitchenAid Professional Mixer (6 qt.) for over two years and have had no trouble with it.It arrived in perfect shape, looking brand new.I bought this one for my daughter as a wedding gift.It was on her gift registry at a chain store.I saved $155 off the retail price (over 50%) using the OCTSAVER coupon and by applying for an Amazon Visa card, plus have six months to pay with no interest. The mixer arrived yesterday and has no scratches or blemishes. It, too, looks brand new.I took it out of the box to be sure it looked new, and only had to adjust the beater height using the screw in the neck of the mixer to get it in perfect shape.I know she will love it and it will look great in her kitchen.Maybe she'll even use it to cook something!
2-0 out of 5 stars Artisan refurbished
I bought it with augsaver and free shipping a deal!
4-0 out of 5 stars Great machine, great price
Although not a huge motor, this machine does great not only for home use; but this is the 3rd one I've bought in the past few years for restaurants I work in. If you're going to make a lot of bread doughs or do a lot of grinding you'll probably want the bigger motor; but otherwise this one should do everything you want.

Editorial Review

Topped by a bun warmer with a transparent lid, this Champ is a variant of the popular George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine. The electric appliance's appeal lies in its simplicity and countertop convenience--not to mention its fat-fighting ability. The double-sided grill (a 6-by-7-inch nonstick cooking surface) cooks burgers, steaks, chicken, sausage, fish, shrimp, and vegetables top and bottom in minutes. (Recipes accompany the grill.) Grill marks not only look appetizing, they contribute caramelized flavor. The bottom grill's deep grooves collect fat, and the grill is sloped so the fat runs off into a dishwasher-safe plastic tray stationed under the unit's front.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cooking is fun, cleanup is not
This grill works best with hamburgers and pre-cooked hot dogs.I seldom used the bun warmer though. The only drawback was the grill plates could not be removed to facilitate eassier cleanups. This eventually made me dread cooking on it because it was such a tedious task to degrease and rinse. The next one I buy will definitely be the one with removable plates.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get the upgraded grill with the removable plates instead.
I wish I had. This one goes to the Goodwill. Grill plates are fixed and a chore to clean. Grill leaves uncooked areas if height is irregular, like a chicken breast. Hamburgers work best. Watch out for burns!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
I absolutely love my little george forman grill!Whereas before I didn't cook much, I now make chicken and fish and such pretty often because it's so easy on this grill. And the bun warmer works fine for me, just put the bun in when you start cooking and it's nice and warm when you're done.Highly recommended! ... With the Lids Off jar opener, Black & Decker has simplified the opening of jars to a no-strain, one-hand operation. Electrically powered, the Lids Off cradles a jar on its lower turntable then grips its lid when you lower the upper housing. Push the large power button, and—voila!—the lid is twisted free. Designed for use on metal or plastic lids, the opener makes a handy tool for anyone and can be especially helpful for those with weak hands or arthritis. The unit accommodates a wide range of jars, from baby food to spaghetti sauce, anything up to 4-1/2 inches in diameter and 8 inches high. It is not intended, however, for the very narrow necks of beer bottles or tall jars of juice. 5-0 out of 5 stars This was a great gift!
I bought this as a gift for someone with arthritis in their hands and it has helped them tremendously!Great buy!

1-0 out of 5 stars a big disappointment
I have arthritis in my hands, so opening jars is painful for me.We bought this as a Mother's Day gift, and it worked well about 4 times.Although it never did open large jars. Then it stopped working at all. It's bulky, takes up too much space in my kitchen -- all in all, a dead waste of time, energy, money, and space.A big, big disappointment.

5-0 out of 5 stars No more sore hands!
Sorry I didn't buy this jar opener sooner. It is so easy to use.I used it within minutes of its arrival.Bottles I was afraid to bring home from the store in the past for fear I would not be able to open them, no longer is the case.Love to show others how easy it is to use.My hands enjoy not being in pain due to trying to open jars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Extruded pasta -- for rolled pasta, get a crank roller!
We make a lot of pasta at our house.Because of arthritus in my hands, hand kneeding is out of the question -- so to make up a batch of dough, I use either my Simac -- my bread machine -- or my food processor.Any of the three will make acceptable pasta dough. However you do need to know going in that the dough is going to be tougher, harder, and less pliable than any bread or cookie dough. It's basically a damp flour rock.
4-0 out of 5 stars EASY PASTA
I'm not sure what the other complaints are about. There are no new pasta makers on the market and this was previously considered the best. This is not a "pasta for dummies" machine. You need to use common sense and alrady feel comfortable cooking. But is is a million times easier than pasta from scratch.I love this machine and will use it for years to come. . .

2-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
I bought the Simac MX700 PastaMatic Pasta Maker to replace my Cuisinart pasta maker. My Cuisinart was a bull at making pasta. It made 1-1/2 pounds at a time and was never a problem.I do not feel the same way about the Simac.Mine would overheat during extruding. Also, it barely made enough pasta to feed my family of 4.It finally died after 1-1/2 years of use. When I say died I mean it started smoking and making very strange noises. Also, there is no way I was going to send it back to Italy for service. I have resigned myself to purchasing homemade pasta at the store. I wish I could find a better pasta machine. What I really wish is that Cuisinart still made a pasta machine. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This waffle baker really works. Pour in the batter, close the lid, and flip once--either sideways or front to back--and in five minutes two thick and fluffy Belgian waffles are ready. It's amazing. The flipping creates an air pocket in the center of the waffle that's pure chemistry. There are also several features that make using this device almost foolproof (though there is a slight learning curve). A well-written recipe book is included that provides some delicious waffle recipes and great baking tips, even if you're using a prepackaged mix. The indicator light is also great: it turns green when the baker is ready for the batter, eliminating guesswork. And the nonstick surface is super--when your waffles are done (five minutes is a good benchmark, and the lid should lift easily), they peel off the grid smoothly. Cleanup is easy, too. A covered hinge and a batter channel prevent messy spills, and the nonstick surface wipes clean with a sponge or a soft brush. Best of all, the waffle baker stores upright. All in all, this is a dandy addition to any kitchen. Read more

Features

  • Fast-flip design makes thick, restaurant-style Belgian waffles
  • Uses 1000 watts for ultra-fast baking
  • Cool touch handle and indicator lights
  • Upright storage design
  • Easy clean up with non-stick interior

4-0 out of 5 stars Light 'n' fluffy waffle maker but won't last
I bought this for my brother and his wife after reading all the rave reviews and noting the favorable price point (~$20), demanding Sunday waffle breakfasts whenever I came to town.Once we figured out (after 5 trials) that the cooking time should be no more than 3 minutes (unlike the 10min acc to instructions), it didn't disappoint - even healthy 'n' heavy, multigrain waffle batter turned out light and fluffy. And then it up and died a couple months later - I figure the reason why it cooked so fast must have been the reason for its quick demise.Either way, a great deal for quick, fluffy pancakes - about to buy them another! ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE this waffle iron!!!!
I just received this Waffle Iron as a birthday gift yesterday, and since I have houseguests, decided to bite the bullet and whip up a full waffle breakfast. I read the instructions (easy to understand) and decided to go the whole 9 yards and use the basic batter recipe from the book included...I'd never made waffles from scratch and only used a inferior iron once before, so I was a little nervous...Except for the first two that I overcooked,(2 1/2 to 3 minutes seemed to be the optimum cook time for this iron) this iron and the recipe were PHENOMENAL!!! I'd give it 10 stars if possible...It really couldn't have been easier to use, and clean...and the recipe I used tasted delicious! I really didn't expect them to look as good as the pic on the box, or taste that good, but they did and I am VERY pleased with this gift...and the fact that it stores upright is a huge bonus for me, I have a tiny kitchen with some odd narrow cabinets that this fits in perfectly!
5-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be more pleased!!
I have to agree with the almost 100 other reviews, mostly 5 stars, already written about this wonderful appliance.I cannot speak for longevity, but I can tell you that this appliance is the most used item in our kitchen, short of the coffee maker. We even grill sandwiches in it!As far as sticking, I have discovered that if I spray a little cooking spray (5 seconds' worth) into a 1/4 cup measuring cup and use a silicon basting brush to spread the spray on the waffle iron's "bumps," nothing sticks. You need not brush the spray into the "valleys."You must do this between each addition of new batter to the waffle maker. And brushing rather than spraying doesn't make a mess on your countertop or on the waffle maker.

Editorial Review

This 1,235-watt countertop oven makes pizza in about half the time required by a conventional oven. You don't need to preheat it--it begins rotating and baking the moment you plug it in. There are independently controlled top and bottom heating elements, so all types (frozen or fresh) and sizes (7 to 12 inches) of pizza can be custom baked. With a rising-crust pizza, for example, you should run the lower heating element for 10-12 minutes before turning on the top element. For a crisper crust, bake the pizza with both heating elements, then finish it off with a few minutes of bottom-only heating. For extra cooking time on your toppings, leave the top element on a little longer. A timer with automatic shutoff lets you set cooking times precisely, and a cooking-time guide for various pizza types is printed on the pizza maker. For safety, the appliance shuts off automatically if it overheats. With the 13-1/4-inch-diameter baking pan in place, the pizza maker is 13-1/4 inches wide, 9-1/2 inches high, and 17-1/2 inches deep. (The baking pan can be removed for more compact storage.) It carries a two-year warranty against defects. Read more

I have owned my pizzazz for over 3 years now.Perfect to make pizza without heating the whole house by lighting the oven.Easy to keep clean. When the pizza is done, I remove the rotating platter immediately. This way it won't get burned by the red hot elements.I would highly suggest this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent mixer and an amazing price.
I like too bake, particularly cookies and cakes.I bought this mixer because our old Sunbeam was showing its age and Vacation Bible School was coming up.Kids require lots of cckies, you know.I was not at all disappointed in this mixer. It does its job very well.I did buy the pour shield from an Amazon vendor however.I would advise anyone buying this mixer to get the pour shield. It makes the mixer so much more versatile.Just make sure to get the right one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not a Scratch
Ordered for girlfriend, the mixer came without any sign of use at all.Included the three mixer attachments, which appeared brand new, and book. Before you use the mixer be sure the bowl is pushed down and locked in the back of the stand (in addition to the two arm anchors) other the mixer will scrape and you will blemish your mixing attachments.

in order to get the vacuum to work you need to press lightly the place where it say s to press.Sometimes it does not vacuum well and need to do again.it just takes a while to get use to but it does work and the vacuum is very strong so anything other than food,eg, paper will shribble up, you need to add a firm backing for it not to curl up.

I do alot of fishing and felt this would help me save fish easier and longer. It did!Worked great for about a month, then started falling apart, not keeping a seal, etc.So, I bought 1 just for "non-fish" thinking that the amount of water/fluid that was being forced into the machine with my fish might have been too much for the product.Same deal.Maybe I'm just too rough, but this particular FoodSaver just didn't last. ... With a 400-watt motor offering 14 speeds plus pulse control, this versatile blender does everything but mow the lawn. Can it crush ice? Certainly, and it'll blend smooth frozen drinks like smoothies and margaritas. Will it chop nuts? No problem, and coffee beans, chocolate, and vegetables (in water) come out at whatever consistency desired, as well. Does it purée baby food? Naturally, and when lumps disfigure gravy, punch the purée button and they'll disappear. Shredding cheese, making bread crumbs, blending hummus and chocolate mousse--all these and many, many more tasks are right up the blender's alley. The big 40-ounce, dishwasher-safe glass jar sits flat on a wide plastic base so it won't tip over when you're serving from it. A removable cap covering the filler hole in the jar's lid serves as a 2-ounce measure. The blender stands 13-1/2 inches high. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The blender of blenders
When I first used this blender, I thought it was more or less like any other blender until I ran out of powdered sugar.I was in the middle of cooking and realized I did not have any powdered sugar, but had regular sugar.I poured in the amount I needed and it ground it to a fine powder! I was truly amazed. When I tasted it, it did not taste like the powdered sugars I had been using.I then realized that in commercial powdered sugar corn starch is added and this was the difference in taste.I also used it to grind coffee beans just to see if it could handle the job and suprisingly enough it did! From then on I was sold!

3-0 out of 5 stars Mixed Opinions.
I had read good review regarding this blender on Amazon, hence the purchase. After using it a few times, I have mixed opinions. The blender looks good, the cord coiling under the machine is convenient to store. It does well with large quantities of stuff to be ground. But, if you have small quantities, the blades don't work so well. They are too high to get stuff under the blades. So for small powdering jobs or grinding small quantities of coconut (for example), it takes a while and is not perfectly satisfactory. If you want to smooties, it works great. It needs better designed blades. My old one probably had better blades, sadly the jar leaked and needed replacing.

3-0 out of 5 stars not for heavy duty purpose
These blenders cannot be used for heavy duty .Also the blade is fixed vit on top.So lots of gap in between the blade and the surface. So what ever items get accumalte in between these , will not get crush properly ... Read more

Editorial Review

Bandleader and inventor Fred Waring introduced the first blender in 1936; more than 60 years later the Waring blender remains the standard for the field. This one, a hardworking blender with a durable glass pitcher and a sturdy metal base, can quickly pulverize ice or purée a vichyssoise to creamy smoothness. The stainless-steel blade is removable on this model, and the plastic ring that attaches the blade to the pitcher feels a little light for such a heavy blender. Those in doubt might go with one of Waring's fixed-blade blenders. With a one-year appliance warranty, though, there's plenty of time to test this one out. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disintegrates if used for ice drink
I'm not sure what's going on here, cuz half these reviews seem to say it works great.I decided to make a daquiri using the simple recipe of a Bacardi mixer, rum and ice.I've done this in an el cheapo Osterizer by pre-crushing the ice with an ice crusher. The selling point for this was that I could just put in the ice cubes and skip the extra step.
5-0 out of 5 stars Waring has still got it
What can I say? This blender is all you will ever need. Crushing ice, making pesto, smoothies, Marguaritas - no problem. Buy one, today!

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad design/cheap materials
We're a small restaurant (16 seats), serving dinner 4 nights a week, and we use the blender for soups, Caesar dressing, etc., once or twice a week, but never use ice in it or anything like that. We've had two of this same model now, and had the same problem with both of them. The black collar, the part of the base where you set the container, is plastic, and on both blenders has broken. The first time it lasted almost a year, and we figured that wasn't too bad -- especially when you compare the cost to a true commercial/professional blender, which are $300+. Also, we really like the blender in terms of function, so we picked up another one. This time, the exact same thing happene, except that the collar cracked within 2 weeks!!
