Such a deal
These are 3 very nice bowls. you would pay more than this just for the large bowl alone.They are heavy ceramic. Small bowl is great for mixing up some eggs or serving upi some guacamole. large bowl for serving pasta or salads.

Chemists do now understand why egg whites beat best in copper
Cookwise by Shirley O. Corriher explains the chemistry involved in the use of a copper bowl for beating egg whites. Corriher is a better read than McGee. This copper bowl is probably as good as any you are likely to find for under fifty dollars. If you don't want to mess with removing the varnish, find a band instrument repair shop who can do it for you.

Perfect for egg whisking, decoration and not much else
This bowl only has two purposes: Decoration or egg white whisking. If you plan on using it for anything else, don't buy it. It's hard to use for other food preparation as the bottom is rounded, which is great for whisking egg whites and bad for anything else because it rolls around too much. Like most copper bowls, it is coated with laqcuer which must be removed before using it for food preparation -- be prepared to spend fifteen dollars or so on laqcuer thinner, a pair of chemical resistant gloves, and a plastic stripping brush. It took me about half an hour to remove the laqcuer. Unless you need the bowl for the special chemical properties of copper that aid whisking whites, it's simply not worth the effort and cost. That said, it is a light, cheap copper bowl which does make whisking whites much easier. The whites tend to be fluffier and don't seem to collapse as quickly. I should mention that the hanging ring rattles very annoyingly when whisking eggs. (I taped mine to the side of the bowl to keep it from rattling.) Also, without laqcuer, the bowl tarnishes very quickly and scratches very easily. A couple of hints regarding this bowl: Laqcuer thinner seems to loosen the laqcuer, but as soon as the thinner evaporates the laqcuer remains. After loosening the laqcuer with the stripping brush, I recommend pouring thinner onto a paper towel and wiping the bowl so the laqcuer loosens and sticks to the paper towel before the thinner can evaporate. As the bowl is rounded, I recommend wrapping a wet towel around the bottom of the bowl -- this will hold it in place as you whisk eggs. As always, clean the bowl with salt and vinegar or lemon juice before whisking whites.
A Bargain That Can't Be "Beat"!
A great bowl of nice size and weight that is very comfortable if you like to hold the bowl on your lap while you beat eggs or other ingredients. Copper is incomparable when it comes to beating eggs and the results are fabulous. The bowl is also very attractive sitting on a countertop or table, or even hanging on a pot rack or wall using the convenient loop.Read more

Not for ALL 5 Quart Stand Mixers - Make sure it fits yours!
I bought this for my wife as a gift. We have a KG25H7X 5 Quart Professional HD Mixer, purchased (and probably only sold) at a major warehouse club where things generally don't Cost too much. Because it was summer and we weren't doing much baking, it sat in the cupboard for the better part of six months. When we finally did have a need for a second bowl, we were shocked to find that it didn't fit our particular model of mixer. It comes close, but it is obviously a slightly different diameter.
Be VERY CAREFUL...
I have a KitchenAid 5-Quart Professional Stand Mixer (bowl lift type, and not an Artisan) and I ordered this part only to find that it did not fit.Upon contacting KitchenAid I was told that the correct bowl for my mixer is the KN25WPBH (polished stainless) or the KN25PBH (brushed stainless).The KN25WPBH and the KN25PBH fit mixer models that start with "KG".At the time of writing this review the bowls that fit my "KG" mixer were, unfortunately, not available through Amazon.com.I am not exactly sure which series this K5ASBP bowl fits because this bowl is not even listed under stand mixer accessories at [...].

Great deal, nice bowl, sturdy construction
While I wasn't willing to plunk down $80 for an overpriced All-Clad mixing bowl, I was looking for a stronger than usual, commercial-style mixing bowl, sturdier than what is typically sold at say, Target or Bed Bath & Beyond.

Scientists DO know .....
Obviously the main reviewer did not do a simple google search, because if he did he would know that scientists do indeed know why egg whites whip up better in copper bowls: check out chemistry.about.com/library/weekly/blcopperegg.htm (no www.).And the rounded bottom is also helpful for whipping egg whites, although not for setting the bowl on a table or counter.

Beautiful - but round bottoms?
I love these bowls! I got them out of their box to display them on shelves, and discovered their bottoms are rounded. I can't imagine why this would be useful in any way.

Wonderful product...

I purchased this bowl for $2.99, what a steal.The outside is textured which gives added insurance that the bowl won't slip from wet hands, etc.I love the clear glass and of course Pyrex' name speaks for itself for durability.My family have Pyrex bowls that we've had forever and they are still going strong.Great product, buy it for the name, buy it for the great bowl and value.

Good, but should come with a lid
Pyrex has two different lines, Serveware and Storageware, that really should be combined.This is a nice-looking bowl and it works fine for heating in the microwave before serving.It works fine in the refrigerator, too, but it doesn't come with a lid; you need to add disposable plastic wrap.Since the sides are tapered you can stack multiple bowls in little cupboard space.

The product is great, just as shown.
All three bowls arrived safely with no broken pieces.I got them in just two days!And I had contacted Amazon before ordering and they said they would replace any pieces at no charge to me, if they arrived broken.So there was no risk of loss to me.And I got free shipping, since I also ordered the casserole set, which also arrived the same day.Why pay $11 or so shipping when you can get another item instead for about the same cost?I hope this helps.

Zax mixing bowl set
I received my bowls today and was very disappointed.How bowls this size can be referred to as "mixing" bowls I cannot fathom.Neither do I know what could be mixed in bowls so small.The second from the largest bowl is about the size of a normal cereal bowl. The bowls nest so the largest bowl holds the "cereal" bowl and the next to the smallest bowl nests in the cereal bowl.The smallest bowl is a joke.I doubt it would hold an extra large egg without running over.The material is nice...melamine... and colorful but those are the only positive statements I can make.
