Editorial Review

The Cuisinart Mini-Prep food processor stands 8 inches tall and just over 4 inches wide, but don't let the size fool you. The base houses a motor so powerful that you need to stabilize it with one hand when using the high setting to whip up a strawberry-banana smoothie for one in less than a minute. The clear plastic prep bowl locks into place with a simple twist, while the blades can be set sharp side up for chopping onions or grating Parmesan cheese, or turned blunt side up for making walnut pesto or whipping up chocolate frosting. The set includes a spatula and a cleaning brush to remove coffee grounds.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Does most of the jobs of a larger unit except for slicing
If you mainly use a food processor, or WANT to use a food processor for blending, chopping and pureeing foods, the Mini-Prep is such a good idea. It does about 80 percent of what a large food processor does, and it's easier to clean and takes up less space.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done
This little thing is awesome! I have had mine for 2 years and it never fails me. If you want to chop things like peppers, onion, garlic...or make a small batch of homemade salsa, this gadget is the one to do the job. I have the large food processor I use for the big jobs, but 9 times out of 10, this is all I need. It works great for combining spices to use as rubs on your poultry, beef, etc. Anything to save a little time in the kitchen. Great performance!

4-0 out of 5 stars It gets the small jobs done
I've owned this particular model for over a year and it gets the small jobs done. grating baby carrots, chopping onions and garlic, making salad dressing etc. However, in the past month I could smell the motor and knew it was time to upgrade.I bought the mini Prep Plus (um....and the 14 cup Cuisinart, the holy grail I must say but that will be another review)The Mini prep Plus is WAY better than this regular Mini-prep model and i highly recommend that over this. The mini Prep Plus has what feels like a stronger motor and a visibly better blade. It also appears to have a wider bowl although they both say 3 cup. I still have my mini Prep and compared them side by side and the bowls are the same height but the Plus is wider with a much better blade. It has cut my usual procesing time in 1/2 and I have not problem with bell peppers and other "tough" vgetables like I did before. If you are going to buy one, get the Mini Prep "plus" model and save yourself some time.If you are REALLY going to go for it, get the 14 cup model. I swear that machine does it all and will probably drive me to work tomorrow too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Proctor Silex Food Chopper
My second one.Perfect for that small chopping job.Makes chicken salad, turkey salad, egg salad, ham salad, shrimp salad and tuna salad sandwiches tast better being ground up finer than cutting with a knife.

5-0 out of 5 stars a very convenient food processor
I got this food processor in order to make pesto sauce.I'm sure it will work will salsa and bruschetta, as well. It's the perfect size, dishwasher safe (blade, cup, and lid), and it chops very cleanly. It's so easy to use and store since it's so small. For making just a little bit of pesto, maybe just a quarter cup, it would really be annoying to have to take out and clean a larger food processor. But this food chopper is the perfect size for such a small amount...or anything up to 1 cup, 1 1/2 cups really.I'm really glad I bought this...and it was just the right price. No need to get a larger, clumsy, and more expensive larger food processor that won't get used as often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
It's fast to use. I can chop half an onion (or more if I wanted), which is exactly what I need for one day.I can mix fruits and yogurt for a dessert for me. I used to use it to pure food for my baby.

This little 250-watt workhorse comes in handy when a full-size foodprocessor is unnecessary. The 3-cup work bowl is just right for making pesto ora salad dressing, and two receptacles in the lid have pinholes for one or twooils to stream into the bowl while the processor is blending a perfect emulsion. It's also ideal for chopping and grinding. Pressing the "chop" button deploysthe sharp edge of Cuisinart's patented reversible blade to chop onions, herbs,or bread crumbs. Pressing the "grind" button whirls the blade in the otherdirection so its blunt side can grind nuts, coffee beans, or cheese. Compact atjust 9 inches high and lightweight (it has a plastic body), the Mini Prep Pluscan be tucked away in a cabinet, and the little spatula accompanying it goesinto a drawer. It carries an 18-month warranty against defects. The plastic workbowl and lid are dishwasher-safe, but the stainless-steel blade should be handwashed to protect its edges. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this handy chopper!!!
I received my new Cuisinart DLC-2ABC Mini Prep Plus a couple of days ago.I was so excited to place this stylish little chopper on my countertop.I looks too nice to place away in a cabinet, besides I bought it for the convenience factor. My last mini chopper was so ordinary that I kept it hidden away; therefore, I would only drag it out on rare occasions. This stylish new addition to my gourmet kitchen countertop is such a jewel to have!!!I used my new Cuisinart last night for the first time to chop an onion ... whoah, what power!I've used other choppers where I had to constantly stop the process in order to toss around whatever I was chopping to have it evenly chopped. Not so with this powerful baby!It chops powerfully and evenly. The grind option is perfect in aiding the process.Additionally, the size of the 3 cup bowl is a wonderful companion to my 11 cup processor ... for those smaller tasks. My old chopper was a 1 cup capacity & in my opinion was just too small. It's easy to clean and is just waiting on it's next project ... hmmmm, what can I use it for next???

4-0 out of 5 stars A time for every seasoning......,
A time for every seasoning......and a utensil for every purpose. The Cuisinart Mini Prep does not serve well as a primary processor for heavy jobs. That was not its intended design, or function. It is not a parmesan cheese grater nor does it compete with a sharp French knife for uniformly chopping onions.
4-0 out of 5 stars Right tool for the job it was designed for
When I first bought this, I thought this was a 'mini' version of the big brother.(Now I own power prep 11 plus, as well as the belnder from cuisinart). And this is where most of the angry customers come from.If you want to 'slice', this thing isn't it.Nor is it for grinding coffee beans or anything heavy like that.In fact, I own a grinder for that exact purpose. But as one equipment review show stated (America's test *******), it's better to use the knife then any of these units or even gadgets for chopping/mincing.And they recommend coffee grandinger for grinding and I have to agree.I just never found better way to mince then a my favorite Wustof classic chef knife.Even with the dish washer, it takes too long to clean (for daily use when I run a dish washer 2x a week), and it just isn't as fine and even as a good knife.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works great while it works
This product does an excellent job of chopping everything from nuts to cheese. But, after only a year and a half of light use, it quit working. The blades still spin, but it no longer is capable of chopping anything. So, unless you are fascinated by spinning blades, it is useless. Not a good life cycle for an appliance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice chopper
This cute chopper is a big help to me. It makes fast and fine chopping-up and saves a lot of time for me. It's a little bit small and contains only "pulse chopping" control. However, I found it easy and convenient to use, and is sufficient for single or couple family use.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best

The Little Pro Plus is an absolutely necessary all-in-one kitchen tool. It chops, dices, shreds, grates, purées, and even kneads dough. Add the super citrus juicer and one of the three juicing cones and there's an automatic at-home juice bar. The base measures only 6 by 8-1/2 inches, so it fits cozily on the counter and is easy to store. Included is a comprehensive booklet detailing the many different ways of using the Little Pro Plus and dozens of recipes (try a homemade hummus). It even has pictures of how to assemble and use for those of us who are visual learners. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my Little Pro
I've had it for almost 20 years and it's great! It's never broken once in all that time, the blades are still sharp and I use it a lot!Perfect for when we first got married and doesn't take up much space and it;a pretty light to move around. Now, I can use the larger version, but this one is great for most jobs, like making dips or guacamole, or whipping cream, you name it.A great buy and necessity in the kitchen.I have an additional workbowl for mine too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Small but powerful
When I purchased this item, I was trying to decide between this processor and the miniprep.A former roommate of mine had the miniprep, and I was a little frustrated by the fact that it frequently would overheat when preparing even something relatively simple like pesto. This item is much more powerful than the miniprep, and I have never had problems with it overheating. The ejector chute also allows it to chop larger batches of food. The only task I have put it to where I have found it less than satisfactory is in preparing pie crust. The booklet claims that it is up to the task, but I found it doesn't quite mix properly (the dough on the bottom doesn't seem to mix as well with the dough on the top). All in all, however, this item is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars the little processor that could
I had been coveting processors for some time when my honey got me this little guy to test if a processor would prove handy for us.boy does it!I saw that some reviewers found it pureed the food they were cutting, and i had that problem at first too.the manual that comes with it however explains that pulsing the chopper cuts things such as onions and tomatoes better, and it does.now my onions and tomatoes are perfectly chopped.it chopped pistachios, almonds, onions, tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, ice, strawberries and jillions of other things for me so far.i even used it to made mashed potatoes, pesto, and gizpacho.of course it's a bit little for this, so i had to do multiple loads, but it was great at them anyway.i love it so much we're getting the larger model and keeping this guy to help out.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great, Little Machine
Before purchasing this product I spent awhile online reading reviews regarding it, and other similar products. At the time, I found the reviews very split: it seemed the reviewer either loved it or hated it, with few tending towards the middle. It seemed to fit my needs so I decided to go for it, figuring that if it was as bad as some had said, I would simply return it.

5-0 out of 5 stars For 10 bucks, works great for what I ask of it, I like it.
I have had this item now for about 5 years, and I like it.I use it the most if I am making Chili and want to chop up peppers and onions. Can be helpful with making salsa as well.Even homeade relish.I have also used it to chop nuts up for cookies etc.For $10, well worth it, save a ton of chopping time. I have not had any issue with dullness of the blades all this time, so unless you are grinding rocks, shouldn't be a problem. I have never tired ice, but this maching is a little small for that, just use the blender.Handy little machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars I just love this machine
I got this as a gift from my mother when I moved to my first apartment away from home. She already had one, and loved it.I use mine quite frequently, and makes quick work of dicing onions and peppers for philly steaks or burgers. My brother and father have also since purchased these units.I have had mine going on 5 years now, not a problem with it.great value, good gift for cooks for one or two, who do not need a huge unit to chop stuff.

Two powerful kitchen appliances have been brought together in this blender/food processor by Cuisinart. The heavy-duty motor base is up to both blending and processing tasks, and won't "walk" on the counter, even when it's crushing ice. Use the blender with its dripless pour spout to make and serve 40 ounces of frozen drinks or to purée baby foods or soups; use the processor to prep up to 3 cups of vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and meats. With one motor base, it's simple to keep the blender out on the counter and then bring out the processor attachment for special tasks. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality --poor support
The Duet served my wife and I well for more than a year. Then, like many others are reporting, the spindle broke on the base unit. I contacted Cuisinart, but they don't make a replacement. So we had a pitch a basically good unit but lack of this tiny replacement part.
1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap but Poor Quality
I bought this item, thinking, like others, that the Cuisineart name meant quality. The blender broke about within about 6 months, but I kept on using the food processor.Light use, I might add.Just a few days ago, the food processor broke -- the plastic food bin snapped. This has been one of the most disappointing purchases I've made.Plus, it is unbelievably LOUD.I'm in the market for a more expensive, sturdy, reliable processor. You get what you pay for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great, until the drive gear shatters
As other reviewers, we loved this blender until it broke. It was quiet, powerful, simple to use, and looked great. The food processor was the perfect size, and very useful.

This mini food processor has the double title of "salsa maker" for good reason: the tradeoff for its tasty purchase price is a bit of extra time chopping and dicing--best for small batches of sauce or salsas. Foods should be chopped no larger than 1 inch before you put them in the little processor, just over 2-1/2 inches high--and be careful not to overload. That said, the blades mounted on the cylinder are razor-sharp, and the blending attachment does a decent job of whipping and mixing. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars salsa maker
I was looking for a salsa maker without it being too large or having too many gadgets to keep up with and clean. This comes with 2 attachments and I used the chopper one only.I was under the misconception that you could add pieces of ingredients from the top.The only thing you can add from the top is a liquid. However, it was easy to use, easy to clean up and chopped the jalapenos up without a problem, but you need to put the ingredients in already cut up into small chunks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what the ladies wanted
This was just what my wife and daughter wanted and the price was right too!

3-0 out of 5 stars Still looking for a great salsa maker
I had a salsa maker that received much use. First one of the plastic gear teeth broke from not having the tomatoes chopped small enough. I kept using it until the handle pylon failed due to fatigue loads. The handle pylon to top mold area should be designed with a much larger radius to reduce fatigue failures.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for making baby food!
I have owned this chopper since my first born (2002) was just 8 months old and used it for her to make table food into baby food.I now have another daughter born in May and I broke out my trusty little chopper and it still works great for chopping up a bit of meat, veggie and rice or potato to make fresh, homemade baby food.My daughter thoroughly enjoys having a bit of texture to her dinners now that she is 8 months old and this leaves just enough texture to food that it is not like soup for her.

I've owned Black and Decker's predecessor to this unit - the ShortCut - for about 25 years. It was a well designed Mini food processor. So I had high hopes for the Black & Decker MFP200 MiniPro Plus Food Processor. What a disappointment!
3-0 out of 5 stars ACCEPTABLE
This product was purchased to replace the broken chopper/shredder by Black & Decker that cracked after several years.I found the new product to be average as compared to the earlier version.Cheese tends to stop the shredding blade entirely.Otherwise the product works if you have a small size bowl to put under the dispensing spout.Black and Decker should heed the old adage; 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

The opening on this unit is not even large enough to slice a pepperoni stick. It also has problems with foods not properly dropping from the chute but flying all over instead. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Perfect for prepping food for two-person meals, this mini food processor quickens the process. The processor has two speeds of operation plus a pulse button and a feeding tube that lets you drop ingredients into the processor’s bowl, which has a maximum capacity of 3 cups. However, the attached food chute keeps pumping food out of the bowl and into a separate container, saving you the time of having to empty the bowl to chop each new food and saving you the counter space necessary for a large-quantity food processor. The micro processor comes with a blade for chopping foods such as nuts, garlic, or bread crumbs. Other attachments include a dual shredding/slicing blade that shreds cheese or carrots and slices vegetables. The processor also includes a food gate that further controls the size of food particles to be either coarse or fine. The bowl, lid, and blades are all dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup and the blades all fit inside the bowl for easy storage. Hamilton Beach provides a 2-year limited warranty on this appliance. 2-0 out of 5 stars Only good for a small number of uses
I received this as a gift, and am VERY glad I didn't spend money on it.While it does a decent job of chopping/cutting...it's not great.Plus, it doesn't contain the food very well, and you end up having more outside-the-unit cleanup than you should.
1-0 out of 5 stars Didn't last long...
Within the first week of purchasing, the cover for the food processor cracked across the top of the chute after very light use and handwashing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad little product.
When I got this as a gift I was a bit skeptical, but this little food processor does a good job for the price. It sliced and shredded carrots well.It did a good job with pizza cheese. The food shooter feature is great.I can put in carrots, slice them into a mixing bowl, then chop onions into the same bowl, then throw in some celery and position the shooter over a second mixing bowl.It had trouble chopping things to a uniform size when I put too much material in the bowl.I just have to remember it's only made for about 2 cups of material at a time and it does a fine job.Any more than 2 cups and it gets overwhelmed. If you're looking to make big meals, look at the larger capacity processors. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This thing is fast!
I have used this to chop everything from onions and tomatoes to cheese and bread crumbs, and everything churns out fast and exactly right. What a time saver!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Machine
Ok, so I already have a full-sized food processor, but with limited counter space, I rarely am motivated to dig out the 80 pound gorilla. The Change-A-Bowl, however, is light weight, simple, easy to clean, and works wonderfully for 99% of my slicing and grating needs.
5-0 out of 5 stars WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD !

3-0 out of 5 stars Small, but POWERFUL
The bowl is too small. It works great for chopping eggs for egg salad and crushing corn flakes for crumbs. I hated it for tomatoes, peppers and onions (which is why I bought it); it just made them into mush because it's almost too powerful. Most of the time it just sits there, unused. Spend the money and get a bigger one; it will be well worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Chopper
The bowl is too small, it either doesn't chop all the food or over chops to a puree and after 10 uses mine stopped working. Its junk

1-0 out of 5 stars JUNK!!
Cheap construction. Blade stuck after two uses. I have to pull it off with all my strength and food goes flying! Doesn't chop food uniformly. I have to hold it down while using or it shake rattles and rolls.Won't give it to my worst enemy.I guess you get what you pay for. ... Read more

This is going back to the store.
1-0 out of 5 stars Difficlut to use
Week 2..One week later, and i still hate this machine..its getting louder, and the spindle and disks make an awful noise when I turn it of, and they come to a stop. the bowl is still hard to remove, and the lid is also hard to get on and off...ZERO stars for this product..Black and Decker should be ashamed.
