Trusty Potato Masher
I really love this potato masher. Its handle size and shape make mashing quick and easy. Also, the metal grate at the bottom is welded, not glued, to the upper section. That's important for a few reasons. 1) This masher won't fall apart. Glue tends to give out after a few years of use. If you take good care of this masher, it could last twenty or thirty years. 2) Glue will leave tiny spaces between the pieces of metal and it'll be impossible to dig all the food out of those tiny cracks.

Just so-so
I bought this mill to use to make baby food, and having used ir I wouldn't recommend for such use.It only comes with one blade and it's a bit too corse for that.Other than that it's ok.I might have spent a little more for a better quality unit.But for infrequent use this is not to bad.

France?Think China
Despite the name, this mill is made in China. The quality is typical of stuff made in China, not horrible for a mill selling for less than $16, but nothing to be glad you bought it. Quality is when you get something and think it is better than what you paid; this is not that. Sooner or later, vendors will realize that putting "France", "England", or "Germany" on a product, and having it arrive with a peel off label, "Made in China", is not quality. A misunderstood tool. Buy It.
This excellent food mill made of heavy stainless steel does NOT do the same job as either a food processor, blender, or grater. The one tool to which it is most similar is the potato ricer, which I choose when I am cooking for only two, but the food mill is much better when there are four our more diners for which to make truly lump free mashed potatles.
About pricing errors
My guess is that they tried to get rid of some old inventory by marking these down but sold way more than they expected and realized that they can't make up the costs. You can always take advantage of their hokey Gold Box deals that make you think you're special even though they're offered to everyone and their cousin.

I've used the masher several times and it works very well!It is sturdy and stands up to the "mixing" part of making mashed potatoeswhile adding the milk or sour cream.

The Best (Manufacturer's Inc.) 11-inch Masher with Metal Handle is on my essential list of kitchen utensils. This masher is very heavy-duty and large. I boil peeled and quartered largerusset potatoes for about 15-20 minutes in either my 5-quart or my 8-quart Calphalon hard-anodized aluminum pot, drain off the water, add some warmed milk, sweet butter, sea salt, white pepper, and then mash them. I like lumpy mashed potatoes, so I mash them for a short time. I use an up-and-down, twisting motion with the masher. If you want creamier mashed potatoes, simply add more warmed milk and mash them longer. Spoon out your mashed potatoes into a serving bowl, and soak the masher with your pot so clean-up will be easy.
