This tool bent badly the first time I used it.I had to bend it back myself several times, in the midst of mashing four potatoes.Messy hassle.

Properly speaking, mashed potatoes have more texture than do whipped potatoes. To get that texture, a strong masher is required to do the job with the fewest possible strokes. This one qualifies. Use it also to mash vegetables and fruits, especially when you desire some texture. The stainless-steel masher is polished to a mirror finish, the oval handle is set vertically and channeled to provide a sure grip even when wet, and the hanging loop at the handle's end is cleverly angled so that the 11-1/2-inch masher lies flat against the wall when hung on a peg or a hook.
