Editorial Review

This food mill is an excellent tool for making homemade baby purees from fibrous ingredients, such as peas, dried apricots, or prunes, as it pushes through the smooth pulp and leaves the fiber behind. In addition, it strains seeds and skin from tomatoes to make soup or sauce and makes the fluffiest mashed potatoes. Made of high-quality stainless-steel, this tomato/vegetable mill has three heavy-duty blades with fine, medium, and coarse holes to accommodate many different foods. After inserting the proper blade, you can load up to 2.1 quarts of puree ingredients into the mill. Then simply rotate the handle to push fruits and veggies through the strainer with the paddle. The food mill has three non-slip legs that allow it to rest on any pot or bowl with a 9-inch or smaller diameter. For mess-free clean-up, the mill is dishwasher-safe. Read more

Features

  • High-quality stainless-steel construction
  • Three blades: fine, medium, coarse
  • 2.1-quart capacity
  • Dishwasher-safe
  • 9.25-inch Diameter x 3.75-inch Height

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for applesauce
I make homemade applesauce every year.I had an old (regular steel) Foley Food mill which is probably 25 or more years old. It's starting to show it's age.I wanted to get one for my daughter who is setting up her own household, so picked up one of these. After using hers, I decided to give up on MY old one and get one for myself.I also had a minute or so of difficulty assembling, but not bad.The only thing I wish I had was some sort of guidelines on what kind of food goes best with each insert (e.g., which to use for mashed potatoes?).I guessed to use the middle for applesauce and it worked great.I plan to experiment with mashing potatoes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well made for price
This is a great food mill compared to others in the price range. It has a larger diameter than my old mill which makes it faster. The disks are well made and are sharp/abrasive enough to process the food. The spring is strong enough to force most of the food through.
5-0 out of 5 stars MIU Food Mill
Excellent operating device that cleans easily. We've had ours now for over a year and does beautiful work. Some reviewers had assembly trouble on the account that there is no instrucion manual.I had similar difficulties initially. So, if you cannot get the mill to turn, you have the grater (insert) upside down.(This is somewhat counterintuitive because the whole device is shiny and the correct upward facing grater surface is matte. The shiny side goes down)

Editorial Review

If you've never experienced a potato ricer, it's not too late to make up for lost time. This simple implement doesn't have a digital clock, doesn't blink when it's ready, and doesn't have a tiny computer chip imbedded in it to do all the work. It takes a bit of pressing and squeezing, but the light and airy potatoes that result will be both memorable and worth the work. Place boiled potatoes in the bowl of the ricer, set it across a saucepan (using the ridge on the head of the bowl), and press the potatoes through the disk--that's it. Stir in a bit of butter and cream, dust with paprika, and enjoy. And be sure to try the ricer with other root vegetables, such as carrots, yams, and turnips. Read more

Features

  • Versatile tool pulps potatoes, turnips, yams, carrots, and more
  • Tough 18/10 stainless steel
  • Three disks allow coarse or fine mash
  • Bowl's ridged head rests on edge of saucepan
  • Long, easy-grip handle provides leverage

5-0 out of 5 stars Browne? Cuisipro?
I ordered this ricer, but it's labeled as Browne. Browne may now own Cuisipro. It works great just as all the reviews show. I now 'mash' potatoes by putting the hot unpeeled potatoes in the ricer and presto bingo! I've also used it to sqeeze juice from cooked greens. What a wonderful device.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for spaetzle!
I bought this in hopes to make spaetzle like mom used to. I am very pleased with the quality of this product and am very happy that I can now make spaetzle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ground beef grease extractor without compare
For years I have been looking for some kind of press that would allow the grease to be extracted from cooked ground beef. Draining and paper towels sops are inefficient or messy. One day I saw my mother-in-law using a potato ricer to make mashed potatoes and in that ricer I saw my cooked ground beef grease extractor press. With the small screen installed in the Cuisipro ricer, its da bomb for ground beef grease extraction. Due to the very sturdy stainless steel construction of the ricer, you can really lean into the task without worry of bending the tool.

Editorial Review

If you're the kind of cook who prefers "mashed" to "whipped" potatoes, this tool may very well become your next best friend. With a stainless-steel wire head, the masher tackles the task at hand, all the while reducing pressure on your hands due to the soft, rubber cushioned handle that is nonslip, wet or dry. The wire masher works as well with yams, carrots, apples, or bananas, in case you've had oral surgery or have a baby in the house. Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. Read more

Features

  • Soft and comfortable--lessens pressure on hands
  • Wire head made of stainless steel
  • Great for mashing other vegetables
  • Large handle opening for easy hanging

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Fine
I made the pefect lumpy potatoes with this.Sounds odd, but that's what I wanted.I have a ricer, but I wanted the mashed potatoes from my childhood.I went out and bought this specifically for the task.I have no regrets or complaints. The handle felt fine, better than what my mother used to have.I remember hers having more mashing surface, but that may be because I was young. This one seems compact, so it works fine for a small amount of potatoes in a smaller bowl (perfect for me.)
4-0 out of 5 stars It does it's job
Nothing fancy, just mashin' action. I would give it 5 stars if the handle was a bit more comfortable (just hard plastic as opposed to something more comfortable, but it's not like you use it that much) and if the design was closer to the honeycomb open-hole idea instead of the curvy wires, which leave more lumps in your mashed potatoes. But really, if you want perfectly lump-free mashed potatoes, you should be using a ricer, not a masher.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Design
Great sturdy design!! The handle is well made, soft on the hands, good non-slip grip but yet durable. The heavy duty stainless steel designed wire mesh does every job perfect.

Editorial Review

What, no lumps? If you prefer the homemade texture of mashed root vegetables but without the chunks, this is the tool you've been searching for. With its broad, stainless-steel head, potatoes are mashed evenly through a fine grid. It's also great for other mashable vegetables and fruits, as well as for making baby food. The Good Grips line features durable, nonslip flexible handles on every product. Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably and softly, the pressure-absorbing processed rubber handle puts less tension on the hands, while providing an outstanding grip. Made from the same material as dishwasher gaskets are constructed of, the handles are slip-proof, wet or dry, as well as dishwasher-safe. Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars OXO 34581 Masher
There are four spot welds on each side of the handles that attach to the masher, my last WMF ricer-style masher failed at these points because it only had one on each side. The OXO is true to its name, easy to grip. It may take a couple of times to get used to holding your hand horizontally rather than vertically, but it is much less tiring. Model 34581 will only do so much, as your knuckles will touch the food if you are doing a great quantity, but easily works on my usual quantity of 2-5 hand-sized spuds. I have also used it to break up tomatoes and look forward to using it on fresh peaches prepared for our annual ice cream crank. Hard to find a good spot for it in the dish-washer and drawer, forget about storing it in a container on the counter with other handy tools if that is your style.

5-0 out of 5 stars The PERFECT masher!
I have mild arthritis in my hands and always had a rough time with typical mashers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding quality and great price.
This wire potato masher, like the rest of the products from the OXO Good Grips line, is a great value of superior quality, unsurpassed durability, and flawless performance. Its ergonomic design, hefty body, and big, pressure-absorbing, non-slip grip, complete with flexible fins to accommodate your fingers, are the reasons why you'll prefer this product over the more traditional models, as they will allow you comfortable, daily, wet or dry use while keeping you away from any stress-related injuries.

3-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to clean
This Potato Masher from OXO does a super job of mashing potatoes but has a few disadvantages over the traditional wire masher.Since the tines on the nylon masher are very narrow, the potatoes get easily clogged. The small tines also make it difficult to clean.OXO also makes the traditional wire masher out of stainless steel with the OXO grip. That's the one to get.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works ok, sturdy, difficult to clean.
This masher looks great, is (so far) sturdy, but is difficult to clean.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great!
In true OXO Good-grips style this works great! It is slightly circular so that it can mash all the way around the pan and it didn't destroy the non-stick on my pan when I tried it (somewhat nervously) the other day.My only complaint with it is that it doesn't fit in a normal kitchen drawer. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Potato Masher Ever!
After having several other potato mashers fall apart on me during the most inconvienient situations (i.e., while mashing avocados for guacamole), and nearly being impaled in the process, I bought a Rosle. The difference is phenomenal. Rosle's products combine great ergonomic engineering with high-quality stainless construction, and the masher is no exception. Its design allows the cook to combine just the right amount of force more precisely, resulting in effortless and lump-free mashing (no more problems with cranky avocados), and it cleans up easily.I've had mine for over a month, and suspect it will be the last potato masher I'll ever buy -- unless, of course, I need an additional Rosle. ... The way to perfect mashed potatoes is through a ricer, the most basic form of which is the potato press. The reason it's so good to mash potatoes this way, is that it breaks down lumps that a hand-held masher might miss with the least amount of effort. Overworking cooked potatoes--by using a food processor, for instance--can break down starch molecules and result in gooey rather than smooth, fluffy mashed potatoes.Read more

This mini food processor has the double title of "salsa maker" for good reason: the tradeoff for its tasty purchase price is a bit of extra time chopping and dicing--best for small batches of sauce or salsas. Foods should be chopped no larger than 1 inch before you put them in the little processor, just over 2-1/2 inches high--and be careful not to overload. That said, the blades mounted on the cylinder are razor-sharp, and the blending attachment does a decent job of whipping and mixing. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars salsa maker
I was looking for a salsa maker without it being too large or having too many gadgets to keep up with and clean. This comes with 2 attachments and I used the chopper one only.I was under the misconception that you could add pieces of ingredients from the top.The only thing you can add from the top is a liquid. However, it was easy to use, easy to clean up and chopped the jalapenos up without a problem, but you need to put the ingredients in already cut up into small chunks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what the ladies wanted
This was just what my wife and daughter wanted and the price was right too!

3-0 out of 5 stars Still looking for a great salsa maker
I had a salsa maker that received much use. First one of the plastic gear teeth broke from not having the tomatoes chopped small enough. I kept using it until the handle pylon failed due to fatigue loads. The handle pylon to top mold area should be designed with a much larger radius to reduce fatigue failures.Read more
