Excellent quality value.
This is a sturdy, big, 4-inch pizza wheel, complete with thumb guard, which produces clean, straight-through cuts on the first run every single time. Its smooth-running, beveled wheel blade never seems to need sharpening and its hefty body fits comfortably in the hand, making it require less force to operate than the more traditional lightweight cutters do, and rendering it perfect for pizzas, pie crusts, dough, etc.

One tough egg---slicer
Who knew one NEEDED a super-strong egg slicer?
Functional but ugly
Don't wash this thing... the shine comes right off and it becomes dull dull dull... but hey, it cuts eggs.

mushrooms no problem
I use this slicer to cut mushrooms around 2-5 times per week.I've had it for less than a year.It works great.The slices are nice and uniform, it is easy to use.I bought two on a Friday sale because I had concerns about the durability after reading the other reviews and the product was so cheap.After much heavy use slicing various types of mushrooms I feel this slicer is durable.And yes, it does sound nice when played like a little harp. ... If you want to spend this much money for a slicer, go ahead and buy this machine! I use it for almost two years now.
Excellent Machine
We've been using it now for about four months with out a problem. It works well on breads, meats and cheese. Contrary to the previous comment the unit is easy to clean and, in my opinion. Slice not
I purchased this item in December 2005 but didn't use it until July 2006.The wires broke on my first use.I thought about requesting a replacement from KitchenAid but have decided instead to ask for a refund.This item is a total waste of time and money.

purchased this item from amazon, took out of package and before even using it but touched to feel the tension on the wires and the wires broke.Got a replacement from kitchenaid (very good service) used it once for eggs, went to wipe with a damp cloth and the wire broke again.would not recommend purchasing this item. ...
