Questionable Value
Clearly a professional would not purchase this 'professional quality' mandoline.Four pieces of plastic and 3 blades.No stand.Julienne blade was miscut and 3 tines bent back on first use.Small thumbscrews not for arthritis.No storage space for extra blade.Poor documentation on use - in particular no instructions on techniques to use safely.I can't understand prior high ratings.

GREAT kitchen tool- but BE CAREFUL, not for idiots
Slices veggies faster than you can imagine, if all you've used before is a sharp knife. Splendid, useful tool for foodies. Quite good but not wonderful
I purchased this item after extensive research. It is quite good but not wonderful. The waffle cut blade is not sharp and requires more effort than I care to give to slice cucumbers; it does NOT do a great job on carrots either. The price is a little high for this product but the Benriner mandoline although it is an excellent product, does not offer the variation in thickness that this mandoline does. ... Read more

Indispensible
I received this as a Christmas gift --one of the best I've ever enjoyed!It is easier, faster and less hassle than my food processor.The first day I got it I used it to slice potatoes for scalloped potatoes and oh my gosh how easy.I find I grab it and go to much more than my electric gadgets (and I admit, I love gadgets...)It's a necessity for what I need lots of--onions (is there a good recipe that does not include onions???) peppers, tomatoes, apples, fennel, etc....it's a wonder on hard fruits and veggies.The clean up is quick, the hand-guard/pusher is easy and actually works, (I've even used this thing with celery!) and the attachments fit and store very well in the rack that's included.(And very safely)

one trick pony doesn't always do the trick
This was a gift that was going to go in the white elephant pile, but after sitting in a closet for a year, I took off the packaging and decided to give it a try. The very first avocado I planned to use it on was smaller than the implement and so it simply could not be used. I tossed it back in the drawer and grabbed my handy paring knife - which was quick and convenient to find and perfectly acceptable. I have never used it again.

Eminently adaptable for every cutting task in your kitchen, the Matfer features a slanted blade and plate that adjusts slicing width from 1-/4-inch thick to microscopically thin. A unique blade holder design permits users to julienne strips in 1/8, 3/16, and 3/8-inch sizes, then revert almost instantly to the reversible straight/serrated central blade for waffle cuts or straight slices. Instructions are worthless
I am very unhappy with the instructions that came with this mandoline.My husband and I tried countless times to use the slicer and have not been able to figure it out.About 6 weeks ago I wrote Amazon and they told me I would have to get further instructions from Matfer, which I expected to do.At that time I sent an e-mail to Matfer and they responded immediately stating that because it is a commercial slicer they would send me a video.A few weeks ago I did not have the video yet and again sent another e-mail and Matfer said "We sent it out, but will send out another video immediately."Nothing yet!If I did not throw away all the papers from Amazon and the so called instructions I would have sent this back to Amazon.I will write once again to the manufacturer tonight and if I do not hear I will send all this back to Amazon.I don't need a large item taking up precious storage place.........And, YES, they do have my correct address.

My first mandoline was the Bron which is visually the most serious/macho/cool of the bunch, but its shortcomings were unacceptable - the slicing blade is one-piece stainless, and can't hold a sharp edge; the julienne blades are not sharp and can't be sharpened; and the safety carriage is designed to not go past the cutting edge. Almost a home run
Wedgey certainly is cute. However, keep in mind to only use this on eggs or other very soft food items. It is a little hard to line the wires up appropriately. For the price, this is a good piece of equipment and a whimsical addition to any kitchen.

Tomato Slicer Is Not Sharp
I recently ordered a Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless steel Tomato Slicer through Amazon.com. The delivery was very prompt.
Absolutely worthless!
Such a shame, I loved this idea. The metal blades on this item bent the first time I used it. I was even trying to saw carefully as other feedback recommended.I tried to use it twice and it was so bad that I actually threw it in the garbage after having it less than a week!
