Works good
My mom has the best egg slicer I've ever used.I bought this one, since it looks similar - but it's not quite the same!I do disagree with some of the other reviews (how interesting is it supposed to be to slice up an egg?) I think this slicer is functional and simple, plus it's got a nice design and it's small.Very easy to clean too!

Great slicer for home use
I'm not sure why all the other folks gave this food slicer a poor review. I sliced ham for sandwiches and roast for beef jerky and it works flawlessly. Yes this is not a comercial unit however for home use it works well. You do not need to press the food on to the blade so hard that it stops running. The tilt of the feed tray does this for you. The 10 minute run time should be plenty for most jobs so I don't see this as a problem, however that is what kept me at 4 stars for this slicer. ... Read more

Wires necessary
A hand held wire type of cheese slicer is great. Doesn't matter what cheese (soft or hard) this will slice through it without a problem, that is until the wire breaks rendering it useless. I recently ordered a Chantal model with extra wires (the wires are ordered separately under the description "Chantal Kitchen Tools Stainless Set/4 Replacement Wires for KG-CHS11 Wire Cheese Slicer") and found that these wires fit the WMF model. So now I have 2 working cheese slicers with extra wires. Make sure you order an ample supply of wires as they usually last a few months depending on your cheese usage.

Its only drawback occurs when the cutting wire break, which it eventually does, because the only place I know of to get them is directly from a source in Germany. smoking but not in a good way...
I've had this for a couple of years and only used it to slice turkey, chicken and roast beef.The first time I used the knife it started to smell like it was over heating.It does that every time I have used it.I've tried going very slow and applying no pressure to see if that would help - it helped a little but still seemed to be over heating.Cannot recommed it.

Excellent electric knife

Decent, but some flaws
The 662 is a decent unit although I've never owned another electric food slicer to compare it to.Cleaning is definately an issue.But after many uses I've got it down to about 10 - 15 mins.To clean, it requires an Allen wrench (provided) and a Phillips screwdriver.You have to semi-disassemble the unit and I plop it in the sink, hoze down the food particles, spray with disinfectant and let sit, then hoze down again then dry with paper towels.It's a bit heavy and awkward, but again just figure on 10 - 15 mins to clean.
Does what it says it will
Excellent machine; fulfills all the representations made in the product description. Large blade is great but still need to trim down large items like proscuitto. Didn't give it 5 stars because it is quite heavy and bulky and a tad difficult to clean spotlessly-----minor inconveniences compared to its performance.

Top Notch Home Slicer
I first ordered a model 645 Veri-tilt unit but was disapointed because the "travel" on the slicer was not adaquate to slice my much loved prosciutto.The blade was only 7 inches and was serrated. It also lacked a blade cover so I was sure it would "drag" when slicing. (At $20.00 a pound for good prosciutto I didn't even try!)Read more

Works great for me
My experience is markedly different than the other reviewers of this product.I have several different types of cheese cutters in my kitchen gadget drawer and find myself reaching for this more often than the others.I like the ability to change the thickness of the slices of cheese by rotating the handle in your palm to be an advantage.I also note that there is an adjustment for the cutting wire tension so that you can keep it tight over time.I will admit that my initial uses of the slicer were clumsy, but when used often this is a really cool tool.Perhaps it's not for everyone, but it's a keeper for me!
