Editorial Review

This professional mandoline slicer for slicing and shredding potatoes and other vegetables comes with everything you need: a 4-quart stainless-steel bowl, a plastic storage lid, four interchangeable cutting blade cartridges, and a cutting slide with a safety guard. Just slide in the cartridge you need--thin slice, thick slice, julienne (1/8-inch), or french-fry cutter (1/4-inch)--press the safety guard with sharp prongs onto the end of the vegetable, and slice away. The safety guard rests on side rails over the blade so your hand can't slip, and the entire cutting slide apparatus snaps onto the top of the bowl. The stainless-steel bowl has four rubber grippers underneath so it won't slide while you're slicing. Pop the plastic storage lid on top and put leftovers in the fridge. Every part of the mandoline slicer, including the cutting blades, is dishwasher-safe. Lifetime limited warranty. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars not quite as good
Really nice bowl with cover. It mushed up the tomatoes and the safety handle you hold on to broke on the second use.It does however make very thin slices.

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect
THIS SLICER IS SO EASY TO USE AND W/THE CATCH PAN THERE IS NO MESS. YOU CAN COVER THE PAN AND YOUR READY TO MAKE DINNER TOMORROW WHEN FRIENDS STOP BY.YOU CAN VISIT NOT BE STUCK IN THE KITCHEN.

3-0 out of 5 stars So so
The only thing I find this slicer useful for is thick and thin slicing of onions. This concept is too akward for slicing any other vegetable that is not round. The french-fry cutter and julienne slicers require a lot of arm power and I'm just paranoid that I may cut my finger off. It's still tricky removing the different blades even with previous customer advice of lifting, then pulling.I like the bowl feature since I don't have a lot of counter space and I often end up slicing sitting down on my step stool. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars its worth it
The first thing I tried to cut up was a turnup. It was kind of hard at first but I did it. For soft food it will be great. I am glad I bought it.

4-0 out of 5 stars ALMOST Everything!
I found the Nice Dicer to be all it said it was except for the fact it didn't do good with tomatoes. It saves time and is easy to clean and I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this thing!
I have bought so many stupid gizmos off the tv that don't work, I sort of suspected that this would be one of them.It isn't.It works great!I have used it for chopping up vegetables for huge amounts of canning, and if it was going to break, get dull, or jam up, it would have by now.My favorite use for it is to use the fine dicer blade to make fresh salsa. It makes wonderful salsa!A tip for this:if you tip the device upside-down when chopping juicy tomatoes, the juice won't run all over and make a mess, it will go right in the container. This is one kitchen device that really works as well as they show on tv. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Works very well
Relatively easy to clean.
5-0 out of 5 stars What an improvement
This slicer is much better than the plastic version I had before. It can cut meats in very thin slices and also has enough power to cut them half an inch thick. I used to keep my old electric slicer in a drawer and only use it when I thought it was worth the trouble of dissassembling it to wash it. This one has been sitting out on the kitchen counter ever since I bought it a month ago, and I'm using it more frequently because it is easier to clean.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great. No Problems.
We were given another brand for Christmas, and while we learned to enjoy having a home kitchen slicer, the other model had too many problems. It ended up as yard sale. This model slices perfectly, even making super thin cuts, is easy to operate, and is reasonably easy to clean."On" button can be locked in the "On" position, freeing both hands to do other things. (Hey, I'm smart enough to keep my fingers away from the turning blade.) I am very pleased with it, and would instantly recommend it to anyone looking for a light duty home slicer. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars best thing since sliced cheese
After lookingover all the slicers, reviews, prices, we decided on this slicer, first one came with a broken part. Sent it back got a new one, it works great. Slices everything, bread, cheese, ham you name it. It doesn't like things too hard or too soft, either breaks whatever it is or pulls the soft stuff into the blade cover. The catch tray is sort of an afterthought, it doesn't fit anywhere and slides around like it has no real home. To clean everything up is a snap, everything snaps out and is real easy to clean up, other slicers have screws to mess with, that's why we got this one, cheap enough to afford yet well built enough to use. Nice slicer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Machine!
My brother and I bought this food slicer for our mom for Christmas. She loves it!
4-0 out of 5 stars Happy with the purchase
This is a good slicer- I wouldn't want to go with anything inferior- the model below this one probably wouldn't work too well- This one slices fine and is moderately easy to clean. Not effortless but not too bad. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent bread slicer
Prior to getting the slicer, I had been using an electric knife and a bread slicing guide to slice homemade bread. This was always less than satisfactory, but I had not been able to find an electric bread slicer that didn't cost thousands of dollars, until just the other day, an internet search turned up the Chef's Choice 632 which could be used to slice bread.I ordered it and the package came today.I couldn't wait to try it out and sure enough, it exceeded my wildest dreams for smoothly slicing my homemade bread. For me, it is worth the cost just for this alone, but I am also looking forward to using it to slice meats for sandwiches. All in all, a very reasonably priced slicer for home use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chef's Choice 632 Slicer
Positive:Great! Great! Great!I spent weeks going over reviews and comments about electric food slicers in preparation for replacing one that I had been using for about 25 years. It was heavy, clunky and would slide around the counter when used.I only took it out to use when nothing else would work. But it did slice. After reading all that I could in the reviews, I decided that the Model 632 seemed the best fit for my use.Cooking is a hobby and not a profession so I needed nothing more than a good quality, home slicer.I decided to keep the new slicer on the counter for a while so I could try it out.I think it has found a permanent home.I find that I am using it almost every day for bread, meat, cheese and vegetables. The operation is smooth and with the caliper dial, very repeatable. It is stable and does not "walk" on the counter when slicing. It appears to be well manufactured and durable.Several reviewers pointed to the on/off and lock switches locations as being a problem.I find just the opposite to be true.Their location is both logical and easy to use.Though I don't use it often, I found that the little extra that I paid for the tilt table was worth the cost.Overall, it has met and/or exceeded every expectation that I had prior to purchase.
5-0 out of 5 stars Chef's Choice 632 Food Slicer
The performance of our food slicer is exceeding our expectations. It slices items like hard salami super thin without difficulty. It even works in making Beef Carpaccio with the standard blade. It had been on my wish list for years but I was afraid it would be a flimsy and dangerous tool, but the design of the carriage and the stability of the machine made my initial fears go away. The VariTilt is worth the extra price because the slices fall away from the blade instantly. ... This attractive cheese slicer and server tray is ideal for a cheese-and-crackers presentation at a party, yet it's small enough to bring along on a picnic. Its high-tension stainless-steel cutting wire cuts through semisoft cheeses without sticking and harder cheeses without breaking. A natural finish on the beechwood board gives the server a sophisticated look appropriate for any occasion. The cutting wire is warranted by the manufacturer and can be replaced by mail. 1-0 out of 5 stars Good Idea... Bad Execution
I was really excited when I received this for Christmas and was looking forward to using this. However I was very unhappy when I took out of the box and found the feed tube to be very small, and only two slicing disk that suck!First task shredding cheese - well most of the cheese was going around the top of the shredding disk, and that was not using the fine shred disk either!Next thing I tried green peppers, after CHOPPING the peppers to fit them in the feed tube I got very disappointing results, - green pepper mush!MMM...The only thing I like about this thing is the cleanup that is it!I use my giant food processor more than this. This is not worth $40, it should be $9.99 and I still don't know if it would be worth it! ... A great gift for the kitchen gadget collector, this nifty item performs three functions on eggs. Kept safely inside a locking mechanism until rotated for use, a sharp metal point easily pierces a fresh egg before boiling to prevent cracking or exploding during the boiling process. And, blades inside the lift-up arm will cut a hard-boiled egg into either thin slices or wedges. When the egg work is done, the gadget goes right into the dishwasher for easy cleanup. The egg cutter is made of 18/10 stainless steel, which means it's as durable as it is good looking. Read more

This versatile cheese slicer glides through hard or semi-soft cheeses with ease and makes light work of creating cheese trays or hors d’oeuvres for a party. The slicer measures 7-3/4 inches from head to handle’s end and has a thick plastic handle with stainless-steel accents for more controlled movements. The head of the slicer has a 4-inch-wide wire and roller made of heavy-duty stainless steel, which is less likely to snap under pressure when cutting through heavier cheeses. For additional durability, the wire and roller are mounted to a sturdy fiberglass-reinforced nylon frame with cast bolsters. This professional-level slicer is dishwasher-safe for easier cleanup. 3-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, But Not Adjustable...
This cheese slicer is great - if you like thick slices of cheese. If you want anything less than 1/8", good luck!Your hand will have to be more steady than mine, otherwise, you're stuck with thick slices of cheese. On the positive side, this item like Kitchenaid's other utensils is sturdy and easy to keep clean.Check the big box discounters, I saw this for $4.99 after buying it for $7.99.

4-0 out of 5 stars VERY SOLID CHEESE SLICER
To be honest, when i slice cheese I just prefer to use a good, old fashioned abd sharp Chef's knife.I've always hated the way cheese slicers leave that tiny bit of unsliced cheese at the bottom where the slicer does not go down all the way. That said i got this as a Christmas gift and it does a great job. It's good sized, feels comfortable in your hand and grips well.Best of all it's the favorite of the rest of the family who is not as comfortable around a chef's knife as I am.Nice item.Does it's job. ... This handy food holder keeps fingers and knuckles away from sharp blades on slicers and graters. When gentle pressure with a thumb or finger is applied to the top button, prongs on the holder secure any size fruit or vegetable, or piece of hard cheese or meat, and allow the entire length of the food item to be sliced. The food holder works well with other Borner products, such as the V-slicer and onion cutter, and also with any cheese grater or mandolin. Nothing beats a mandoline for cutting uniform slices and strips of fruits and vegetables--and this model places your safety first and foremost. The base has a built-in stainless-steel V-shaped blade with a safety button that locks in any of the six included blades, ensuring that they can never accidentally move out of place. The food holder has an ergonomically designed handle that allows the full range of slicing motion and provides a stable grip. The food holder safely slides up and down on the mandoline’s unique grooved rail, which keeps the motion controlled and on track. For thicker chunks of fruits or veggies, the holder can even be lifted and angled to one side while still gripping the track. Food stays secured with the food guide, which pushes food through the holder and grips it with its sharp teeth.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars REPLACED MY OLD MANDOLINE
ONE OF THE BEST TOOLS TO HAVE IN THE KITCHEN . BOUGHT MY FIRST ONE AT AN AUTO SHOW . THE ZYLISS HAS BETTER FEATURES , ESPECIALLY THE STORAGE FOR THE BLADES . I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE WITHOUT ONE OF THESE .

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing product
I had the opportunity to test this mandoline once without actually having to buy it, and I am thankful for that. (This is not even close to being on par with the Bron mandoline, but I guess that is what you get for spending a third of the price.) Anyway, I tried slicing cucumbers and carrots, as well as julienning the latter vegetable, and the pieces were far from uniform. The food holder was clumsy and difficult to use, especially with the orange that I tried to slice. None of the blade units contained particularly sharp blades, which you definately need in a mandoline. The only reason that I am even giving this object two stars instead of one is because of the safety rail, which did make me feel more comfortable about using a mandoline in the first place.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buy Something Else
Buy a different mandoline. This one is awkward to use and very poorly designed. The higher quality stainless mandolines are a much better choice and worth the price difference. ... Read more

This chopper from Zyliss will make quick work of most small and medium chopping tasks, and, thanks to the unique comfort top, it won't bruise hands if lots of chopping is being done. The chopper stands 10-1/2 inches tall, with a 3-1/2-inch base, and is constructed of sturdy plastic and stainless steel, with a stainless-steel chopping blade. It's easy to use--just place the food in the base container and position the chopper snugly in the base. Then tap the top a few times until food is the desired size. The rustproof, stainless-steel blade rotates automatically after each tap. Since the chopping is contained in the base, the amount of mess is minimal. Also, the 1-cup base container comes with a lid for easy storing of chopped food. For simple cleanup, the sides of the chopper are hinged and the whole thing can go into the dishwasher. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars yes, it chops, but not good with cleanup.
I was initially excited to use this product for chopping, but was disappointed with it in the end. (Luckily it was just a gift.) It does chop up items, but not without equalor greater effort that you might use to cut things on a cutting board. I tried to use walnuts, and they become lodged up in the blades. I honestly can't wedge them out now, so it's not easy to clean. A better option for efficient chopping: get a ulu (cutting board and knife/blade)and you can cut things quickly because you don't have to hold them and cleanup is easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars probably the most used gadget in my kitchen
I have had a lot of different choppers and not been pleased with any. This is the BEST! I use it daily, from garlic to onions to nuts.. you name it.. it goes in there. When I'm done I disassemble and throw it in the dishwasher. I have two and have not had a problem with either. If you want things in big chunks, you only press the plunger a couple times.. really fine, keep going. It does a wonderful job and no kitchen, in my opinion, should be without one. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Lasted 3 days
I purchased this knife for cutting home-made bread in a slicing-guide. While I liked the look and feel of the knife, it lasted about three days - after that the blade would "wiggle", but wouldn't actually cut anything. Amazon happily took a return, and I will be looking for another electric knife to try. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not very durable french fry cutter
I would not recommend this French Fry Cutter it is very hard to clean and is not very durable.

4-0 out of 5 stars French fry frenzie!
We bought this about 2 weeks ago, and have gone through 30 lbs of potatos! We love it! My whole family is on a GFCF diet and potatos are a great filler upper here in this house and this has made life so much faster and easier that my husband said "I can't believe I have spent my life without this nifty little device" and it's true! Our only complaint if you want to call it that is that the rubber that is suppose to hold the french fry cutter in place tends to slip every now and then ... but then again when your going through 30 lbs of potatos that might tend to happen. It cleans up great, works great, and has been a great deal of fun to use. We have ordered another to have as back up!

3-0 out of 5 stars Works very well but too small.
This would be a five star review if the product was a little larger.Only fairly small potatoes (or precut) will fit in the unit and the cut fries are not as long as I'd like - especially when utilizing the shoestring grid.Make the interior a bit longer, wider and deeper and this is a five star.Function is fantastic. ...
