    Editorial Review

This tenderizer not only hastens the cooking and marinating time of meats, fish, and poultry, it also significantly improves the flavor and texture of gamier meats such as venison or pheasant. In addition, the tenderizing process reduces shrinkage during cooking, so meat retains much of its original, pre-cooked size. 48, razor-sharp, stainless-steel prongs aligned in three rows of 16 blades each; pierce any cut of meat--including entire roasts, chickens, or turkeys. This tool can be used to prep food for any cooking method, whether it be grilling, baking, braising, broiling, or roasting. A rectangular-shaped, plastic handle and plastic cover safely contain the tool’s super-sharp blades during storage. For easy cleanup and hygienic safety, the tenderizer is dishwasher-safe. Deni’s parent company, Keystone Manufacturing Company, provides a two-year, limited warranty on this product. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I must admit. I was a little skeptical about what kind of quality I was going to get by spending over $20 for this thing. The quality far exceeded my expectaions, as it is a hefty, sturdy, well made product. It works well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tender at LAST!
I'm blown away! With 48 blades, this product really does the job quickly and quietly. No more BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! echoing off the walls which only produced a flat but still tough piece of meat.I'd gladly pay twice the cost for the Deni because it works! It's very sturdy, very sharp and easy to clean in the DW.I'm using cheaper cuts of meat sucessfully in recipes I had stored away because of toughness or price.Marinating is faster and more effective, cooking time can be reduced.Keep it away from kids.Protect your countertop. The best kitchen gadget I ever bought!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent item, but.....
I use the tenderizer every time I grill meat.It really works like a charm. And you get a li'l work out in too.The only drawback is cleaning.I seem to remember reading that it is easy as tossing into dishwasher.Well, youwill find small pieces of meat stuck between the blades.Be careful with this since it is raw meat.It is easily disassenbled to be further cleaned.Or just use an old toothbrush to dislodge meat.Oh yeah.Blades are REALLY sharp.Be careful. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars does what it's supposed to
Tried this on my favorite but often dull chefs knife and after 4-6 strokes was very very sharp.Works great as promised.casing cheap so not sure how long that will last or if it will hamper it's operation. compact, stores well, would be great for motor home or other small kitchen. For $29, makes me wonder what the $99 version does that Amazon also carries. knocked a star off for the cheap plastic case.

3-0 out of 5 stars Side snaps not acceptable
While the sharpener seems to live up to its original intent, the side snaps designed to hold the unit closed when not in use are cheap and detach easily. One of mine came apart when I first opened the sharpener.

All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. The sharpener measures 8-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 4 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Dull
Well, I go by alot of reviews on Amazon here, but I disagree with the ones here now, maybe I bougth the lemon, I've had this for a couple of years and have never had a good sharp edge on my knives, I am sure both wheels are the same grit and the the sharpening looks the same on both wheels, I've gone back to using my file to sharpen and in 20 to 30 seconds I can sharpen my knives with a razor edge where this machine only takes the flat spots off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Knife Sharpener
This sharpener puts a razor edge on knives. I had a draw of dull knives that I was going to throw out. After using this sharpener, these old dull knives are better than new.

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive
What a great tool.I've tried sharpening using a steel, and I find I don't have the talent to do it well.I've bought other sharpeners, like the Mouse magnet and the ones on the backs of can openers, but this sharpener is the best of them all.

It may seem like a contradiction, but sharp knives are the safest. With a clean edge, a knife is more predictable and easier to control. If you've purchased a top-of-the-line knife, maintaining the quality of the blade ensures maximum value from your investment. This Chef's Choice knife sharpener performs professional-quality sharpening on any knife, from gourmet knives to hunting knives--even serrated knives can be sharpened with this machine. For top-quality edges, there are two sharpening and honing stages, which use 100 percent diamond abrasives, and a final polishing stage. Each stage uses precision angle guides to create a unique Trizor-Plus edge for maximum sharpness and durability, while a magnetic pad collects residue so the machine is easy to clean and maintain. While a sharp knife is indeed a safe knife, it's wise to use caution with your newly sharpened knives, as they'll be sharper than you expect. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Sharp but not cutting edge...
I was expecting to create a knife edge that I could shave with. Well, maybe not that sharp, but sharp enough to cut a piece of paper like butter. Maybe I've seen too many movies. Anyway, the sharpener is easy to use but the full verdict is not out yet. Thus far, thus good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Chefs Choice M130 Professional Sharpening Station
From the description of the M130 I was expecting to receive a machine that would be the answer to all of my sharpening problems, but it was not to be. It took many repetitions of dragging my kitchen knives through the number one and number three sharpening wheels before I got any results that resembled what the instruction manual indicated I should get. I'm hoping with time andpractice I can become better adept at putting a professional edge on my kitchen knives, but I would hesitate to recommend the M130 to a novice like myself. Spend less and try one of the less fancy models. You'll probably do just as well. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

A smart innovation from Furi, the TechEdge professional knife sharpening system is a high-speed, manual way to restore keen edges to straight-blade kitchen knives. Intended for the busy chef or serious home cook, the system takes knives through three stages--reshaping, coarse honing, and fine honing--in a series of simple steps. The Edge Restorer works first, using two tungsten carbide cutters to restore new angles to a rounded edge. The cutters adjust easily for different cutting edge angles and are much faster and more accurate than a stone. The second phase uses the Diamond Fingers Sharpener, a set of six stainless-steel spring fingers that are bonded with 450-grit crushed industrial diamonds. More exact and consistent than a steel, the fingers automatically set correct cutting angles and create a fine micro-serration that is perfect for most kitchen knives. Extra-fine cutting knives, like those used for filleting and boning, get a final honing from the Tech Hone Fingers, a device similar to the Diamond Fingers but with a coarse striated surface that creates a fine finish. All three sharpening pieces fit snugly into the Tech Edge base, which has a long handle and a wire safety guard to protect fingers and hands. The base folds flat to fit into the included snap-shut carrying along with all the other parts of the system for tidy transport. Furi also includes a generous 25-year warranty. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Furi Ease
I found the Furi Pro Knife system to be a little intimidating when I first removed it from the box. However, I took the time to watch the included 'Rachel demo video' which showed how extremely easy it was to use. Not only was it easy, but it really does work. Knives I've had for ages were given new life, as well as my Furi knives which was my initial reason for purchase. I wish it came with a better case to store it in though, I don't foresee it lasting too long.

I bought the Furi knife sharpener to keep my Furi 7-Inch Gusto Grip knife sharp.I also used it on my old knives and what a positive difference it made!Even my cheapo knives are sharp.I used to use one of those electric sharpeners that you pull the knife through but always got poor to mediocre results. The Furi sharpener is so easy to use and does a great job every time I've used it.I'm very pleased with this purchase!

This electric sharpener is so simple to use that knivespractically sharpen themselves. It puts a professional-style edge onany kitchen or sporting knife (except serrated knives). Becausemagnetic guides hold a blade at the proper angles, no guesswork isinvolved. You simply grip your knife loosely and pull it lightlythrough the sharpener's slots without pressing down. Key to this knifesharpener's performance is the two different stages: the sharpeningstage and the second honing stage, which polishes the blade to a razoredge. Those two stages create different bevels, putting a "shoulder" onan edge instead of sharpening with a single bevel. The shoulderstrengthens the edge so it lasts longer. For each stage there is a pairof slots, and the slots use 100 percent diamond abrasives for hardness. The sharpener measures 7 inches long, 4-1/4 inches high, and 3-3/4inches deep and carries a two-year warranty against defects. 2-0 out of 5 stars Complex sharpener
This sharpener does not do the job as easily as stated by the info on the site. It takes to long to sharpen the knives.Matter of fact I still have not been able to put a razor sharp blade on any of my knives.I would not purchase this sharpener.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing results in a short time
I bought this at Target and didn't expect much.To my surprise the first knives I sharpened cut like butter through a thick orange peel right away. I did four more knives in succession, each one really dull, and they now are like new. I highly recommend this. It really beats the cheap, hand-held variety, especially if you have a drawer-full of old knives that need sharpening.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just take your time
It took a little longer than the directions said it would, but this sharpener got my kitchen knives very sharp.I would recommend it.

Then draw a knife seven or eight times through thecoarse (white) wheel. Then draw your blade seven or eight times throughthe fine (pink) wheel to bring it back to life. High-quality knives are a lifetime investment, and should be treated accordingly. Sharpening a knife is best done in two stages, as this device does. First, the knife is moved back and forth about twenty times in slot one (numbered for quick reference). Diamond abrasives remove the old edge and create a new bevel. In slot two, finer diamond abrasives create a second bevel for strength, and polish the edge to a razor sharpness. Bright red rollers guide the blade as you push and pull to ensure the proper angle.Read more

For top-quality edges, there are two sharpening and honing stages, which use 100% diamond abrasives, and a final polishing stage. Each stage uses precision angle guides to create a unique "Trizor-Plus" edge for maximum sharpness and durability, while a magnetic pad collects residue so the machine is easy to clean and maintain. While a sharp knife is indeed a safe knife, it's wise to use caution with your newly sharpened knives, as they'll be sharper than you expect. Read more

    • Three-stage precision sharpening
    • Works for gourmet chef knives, butcher knives, sporting knives
    • 100% diamond abrasive will never detemper

1-0 out of 5 stars Hated it, threw it away and learned how to use real hones
Get a couple of good hones instead and learn to use them. I got one of these a couple of years ago. I figured I would now enter "easy sharp knife heaven", but it ruined all my knives. They are sharp, but only kind of sharp. It ground the bevels to flat and I never managed to get anything that was remotely razor sharp, and trust me, I have tried. Anyhone who says razor sharp, doesn't really mean razor razor sharp or may never have seen a really sharp knife. If it isn't as sharp as that scalpel you used in biology class, it is not razor sharp.
5-0 out of 5 stars A must for every kitchen - you can't cook with dull knives
This little 'gadget' will transmogrify the dullest, bluntest knives in your drawer into razor sharp slicers and dicers. I didn't believe it really could; I bought it because I was ready to try anything cleaner than oil and stones - even my diamond hone could not refurbish abused blades to my satisfaction.
2-0 out of 5 stars my own fault... for not shopping around
it is easier to take things back to a local retailerif you think something is wrong with a product.i believe the sharpener wheels are misalignedso the knives are being unevenly sharpened.it does take off metal.i'm going to do more practicingand not on my top of the line knives.

Despite its name, this tool doesn't truly sharpen a knife. It's an alternative to a knife, or "butcher," steel. Like a steel, it performs the vital task of realigning, or "resetting," a knife's edge, which bends this way and that when contacting a cutting surface or other hard object. Because it employs steel and ceramic wheels to do the work on a knife's edge, it can grind a bit of steel off the blade. But that's more a polishing, or honing, than an actual sharpening. It's simple to use: grasp the curved grip with the left hand--left-handers must do it this way, too--and draw a knife through a V-shaped slot toward the body with the right hand. Read more

This is not a general purpose sharpener. If the V of the blade is too wide to fit the wheels, you will not be able to sharpen well. You could force it but you could end up notching the blade.

Although steels often are touted as sharpening tools, few actually sharpen knife blades but do perform the vital task of realigning, or "resetting," edges, which bend when contacting a cutting surface or other hard object. Because this tool's surface contains diamond dust, it's hard enough to somewhat sharpen a blade. While using this steel won't replace a professional sharpening job, which proceeds from coarse grinding to ever-finer grinding at tightly controlled angles, it will lengthen intervals between sharpenings. This steel will also perform better than a steel without diamond dust because it accomplishes the final task of a professional sharpening, which is polishing the edge to a fine point while realigning the edge. The rule is that a steel should be at least as long as the knife blade being drawn across it, and this steel's 12-inch rod handles all household knives. The steel carries a lifetime warranty against defects. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great knife sharpener
Bought this on a review from a friend.I love it.It has made my cheap Wal-mart knife work like a Henkels knife.

5-0 out of 5 stars the only sharpener you need
I bought two five star Henckels knives: chef and paring as my first top quality knives.I also got this steel to sharpen my other knives.Like most new knives, the Henckels were ground to an edge, but weren't sharp from base to tip.The steel sharpened them up beautifully in about five swipes on each side.I've used stones, various types of sharpeners, and an electric sharpener in the past with somewhat positive results. But this steel sharpens as well as hones or unfolds the edge, despite what they say about steels only unfolding and not really sharpening knives.
5-0 out of 5 stars Henckels sharpener
Why is everyone complaining about the packaging, it's what's inside that counts.Quality, feels heavy, looks good, works great.

5-0 out of 5 stars the middle road
After reading many of the reviews for the Chef's Choice 120, I learned that the type of people that review knife sharpeners fall into two basic categories:home cooks that do not take good care of their knives and knife enthusiasts. The first group tended to think that the sharpener had worked magic on their cutlery and the second group was unimpressed.None of the reviews were geared towards the category of people that I fall into: home cooks that do take care of their knives, but are not fanatics about sharpness.Would one of these machines sharpen my knives enough for me to be able to chop meat and vegetables with ease and be able make delicate cuts as well?

With its three-stage, high-speed polishing system, this Chef’s Choice electric knife sharpener keeps all household blades hairsplitting sharp, honed, and polished. The machine quickly sharpens gourmet kitchen knives, butcher knives and cleavers, hunting and sporting knives--it even sharpens serrated knives. Using 100 percent diamond abrasives of differing grit, the sharpener creates two blade facets in the first two stages. The third stage strops and polishes, completing the sharpening with a micro bevel and micro-flute cutters. Together, these processes combine to create the Chef’s Choice patented Trizor-Plus edge. I was a little nervous about spending this much on a sharpener. Now that I have had it a few days I wish I had bought it sooner. If you understand the basics of sharpening this tool is VERY easy to use. If not, it might take a little practice to get the hang of it.

When used regularly, all knives need regular maintenance to keep blades sharp and to prolong life. While a standard steel like the ones that come with a block set will polish a knife edge, true sharpening actually helps create a new edge by taking off a bit of metal. This is a tricky process to master, and done wrong, it can actually wear down blades before their time. Chicago Cutlery’s MagnaSharp Mouse removes the guesswork from knife sharpening by controlling the angle of exposure to the ceramic rods inside. Featuring an exterior made from durable molded plastic, its playful design combines the ergonomic ease of a computer mouse with simple, safe pull-through technology. Simply slide any fine-edged knife or scissor blade through the sharpening slot while applying a slight downward pressure; repeated three to five times, this process re-aligns and sharpens even dull edges to like-new condition. Because the sharpening rods are on the inside, they can’t be damaged when not in use. The MagnaSharp mouse is compact enough to fit in even a crowded drawer, but it also features a magnetic back for easy storage on the refrigerator, stove, or wherever you keep and use your knives. It works equally well for either left- or right-handed use. The Mouse is covered by a lifetime guarantee and is not recommended for use with serrated or scalloped edges. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Garbage sharpener, great magnet
This is a nice fridge magnet to hold pieces of paper on your refridgerator. Not so much to sharpen knives, it's hard to get the right angle to make a keen edge, and isn't a very well-built tool.
5-0 out of 5 stars great for the money
i don't understand why some reviewers say it doesn't sharpen.i got this littler sucker with my chicago cutlery insignia set and it sharpens great, just 3-5 strokes every few uses, just like one of the other positive reviewers said.afterwards, i can slice tomatos just millimeters thick with ease and virtually no pressure.it's not a professional-caliber sharpener and i don't know how well it works on non-chicago cutlery blades that might have a different pitch or angle, but for 8 bucks, it works great.

Diamond abrasives in this tool actually sharpen a knife rather than simply realign its edges, as most sharpeners and sharpening steels do. For right-handers and left-handers alike, it's simplicity itself to use. Grasp the handle and draw a straight-edge blade back and forth through the stage 1 guide 25 to 50 times to coarsely bevel it. Then move the blade to the stage 2 guide and draw back and forth 10 times through finer diamond crystals for the second, fine-edged bevel. Serrated blades go only through stage 2. By turning, rollers demonstrate that a blade is properly straight so it is being beveled at the precise angle required. Lightweight but tough, the sharpener is formed of silver and black plastic. It's 6-1/2 inches by 2-1/4 inches, small enough to take on a camping or hunting trip. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My knives have never been sharper!
I've had this sharpener for at least 3 years.I sometimes forget to use it, and when I remember, I am ONCE AGAIN surprised at the ease to get such super-sharp knives!I'm "all thumbs" with other forms of sharpening, as some of my older knives will attest, but this great diamond sharpener is the greatest.I got on line just now, after surprising myself once again with how sharp my knives can be, to order 3 of them for gifts for our children. The shell may be plastic (which makes it easy to use and store)but it has no part in the sharpening mechanism, and the results are incredible.I wouldn't have anything else -- the electric models aren't worth the price and risk going too far and wearing down the blade.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent product
