Call me crazy...
But I don't like the scoopers with the fancy slidy thing that this one has.I have one, as well as several other ice cream scoops without - and this is my least favorite to use.The slider makes the scoop much messier and harder to clean, and it really doesn't work that good.The handle on this scoop is ok, but other scoops are much better designed and comfortable to hold on to.Overall, it isn't a bad scoop - it still scoops ice cream.. but there are much better choices out there.I recommend the KitchenAid ice cream scoop! ... The Ultimate spade
Bought one for myself last year, Ordered one for each of the kids this year. You will not find a better tool for the job. The price is reasonable for the quality and utility of the spade.

This is the best ice cream scoop ever (well, "spade").I've had mine for 2 years now (black version).No matter how cold or hard the icecream/yogurt is, the spade cuts right through. I considered getting the type that has anti-freeze type liquid which supposedly helps. I'm so glad that I got this Kitchen Aid spade - it works far better than any other scoop that I've tried. The handle is perfect as well, and the whole thing is well-balanced.

Best ice cream 'scoop' ever

Fantastic ice cream scooper
My wife and I purchased the black model of this item 4 years ago.We have used the scooper on average once a week and absolutely love it.It's solidly built, has a comfortable grip, and performs as good as the day we bought it. We have never had a problem with ice cream sticking to the scoop surface.
Good, but get the 'Spade' instead
My mother-in-law has this Kitchen Aid "scoop" version.It's good, but not as good as the "spade" version.I give it 4 stars by comparison.If you must have round ice cream balls for an ice cream cone, then you could get this, however the spade works much better for scooping ice cream, cutting through easily and scooping plenty. You could still make a "ball" if you really wanted to with the spade.
