Editorial Review

Equipped with hard burrs that grind beans more uniformly andwithout the flavor-destroying heat generated by blade grinders, thiscoffee mill makes preparing fresh coffee simple. It has preprogrammedbuttons for grinding enough to brew 4, 8, 10, or 12 cups and a dial forselecting one of 18 grind consistencies, from very coarse to very finefor espresso. The bean chamber holds 8 ounces, enough for about 36five-ounce cups. When the selected amount of beans is ground, the millshuts off automatically. A transparent plastic container snaps into themill's front to catch up to 8 ounces of ground coffee. It has a snap-onlid so it can store either ground coffee or beans. For easy cleaning, the grinding wheel twists out. The 120-watt mill measures 5 incheswide, 9 inches high, and 6-1/2 inches deep. It's clad in hard, brightplastic, has push-in cord storage, and carries a one-year warrantyagainst defects. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Grinds fairly well
This is a good product for the money.A little messy occasionally, but for the most part, it functions as you'd expect with minimal effort. My grandson has much fun turning the coffee from beans to "squash", as he says.I'd recommend this grinder for the daily coffee drinker!

1-0 out of 5 stars bad design, bad performance
This is a poorly designed mill, cheaply manufactured. The grinding mechanism is easily clogged but difficult to disassemble for cleaning. The port into the hopper is too small and must be frequently unblocked. The hopper consistently develops excess static, causing large amounts of coffee to stick; it is badly positioned and fits loosely, guaranteeing a mess to clean up every time the mill is used. After four months of annoying service, the cheap circuit board attached to the power switch broke loose, finally ending the suffering. A nut chopper would work better.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a dissappointing experience!!!
I purchased the Melitta Mill in April, it's now July and the thing is shot.We used it daily to grind 2 tablespoons of coffee, first the switches stuck and then we had to plug and unplug it to run the thing.Sure it was inexpensive, but you should get more than three months out of the purchase.$6+ a month just to grind coffee?Don't buy this poorly constructed product. ... Editorial Review

This versatile coffee grinder prepares beans for any method of coffee brewing. Three different grind settings offer a range of grinds from coarse for coffee percolators to medium for drip coffeemakers to fine for espresso makers. Whichever grind you prefer, the burr grinding wheels always produces grounds of a uniform texture. The transparent lid easily pops off to load the grinder with whole beans. A side button grinds up to 16 tablespoons of coffee into the transparent container below with either a constant or pulsing touch. The grounds container sticks a bit upon removal, but has a lift-off lid to keep grounds from spilling out while you are tugging at it. The upper grinding mechanism also detaches for easy cleaning. For safety, the grinding wheels stop if the grounds or whole bean containers are not in place. DeLonghi offers a one-year limited warranty on defects in materials and workmanship for this burr coffee grinder. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Gave it away after 2 uses
I don't understand why the manufacturers of these machines seem to think people want to stand there with their finger on the button while the grinder works its way loudly and slowly through a container of coffee beans.A pretty basic design flaw, in my opinion.I have better things to do with my time.Gave it away to a yard sale after 2 uses.

1-0 out of 5 stars clogs
This dcg49 clogs at least once on a 2 oz grind. You have to take apart and clear grinds from chute. I wanted to like, but in frustration returned to store.

1-0 out of 5 stars Forget about it!
I tried, I really tried to like this grinder. But after weeks of frustrating shaking, clogging & more grounds spilled on the counter than in my coffee filter, I gave up and bought...a manual grinder!I may expend more energy in the grinding, but none in the clean up the DeLonghi DCG49 required. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Best Cup of Coffee Ever Brewed
I've wanted one of these for along time but the other reviews scared me off. However, today is my birthday and I got an unexpected surprise. My son bought me this KitchenAid Burr Coffee Mill.I went straight to the store and bought some beans, pluged it in and let her rip.I don't know if you can say this about coffee grounds but they were simply beautifull. And the machine is way quieter than my old machine. The old one will be thrown away.I'm on my second cup of coffee and I'm never looking back!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars I'll never purchase a Kitchen Aid product again
I purchased this unit for its cool looks, solid feel and Kitchen Aid's reputation.Yes, I know Kitchen Aid is manufactured by Whirlpool. The first time I used it, ground coffee sprayed about 3 feet in a 90 degree arc. Same result the second and third times. I called Kitchen Aid and received no assistance until I requested to speak with a supervisor. After explaining my problem, Kitchen Aid sent a new unit.I noted that the new unit's discharge spout was slightly different than the original unit. The replacement unit worked but was messy leaving a lot of ground coffee on the counter. However, it was much improved over the first unit. One month later the glass coffee container broke while the unit was in operation. The result was coffee and ground glass on the counter.I called Kitchen Aid and explained.I didn't have to speak to a supervisor that time and Kitchen Aid sent a new glass coffee container without question.I wonder if this is a common complaint? Lastly, the unit has ceased to grind coffee although the motor is activated.I cleaned the unit.Same result.I honestly feel that Kitchen Aid has done serious harm to its reputation by continuing to sell this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful But Messy
My husband purchased for me this lovely red Kitchen Aid coffee mill for Christmas. It grinds coffee with excellence but it is a bit messy. The way it is designed has coffee shooting out of a spout. If the spout clogs...which happens frequently, coffee sprays everywhere.

Editorial Review

Grind coffee with the ease and accuracy of a professional with this coffee grinder by La Pavoni. The bean chamber conveniently holds 4 ounces of coffee (enough for 18 cups) so you won't need to keep refilling it when brewing for a large group. The fineness selector on the left side of the unit has 19--count 'em, 19--settings, from coarse to extra fine. Happily, this precision machine doesn't leave much room for human error. Set the amount of coffee you are going to grind for the number of cups desired, and an automatic portion timer will hold you to the proper grind time, switching itself off when finished. This heavy-duty grinder grinds slowly with burrs instead of a blade so there's no heat buildup, thereby ensuring those flavorful oils you know and love remain intact. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good grinder for the money
This is far from a perfect burr grinder, but it's really worth the money compared to the inexpensive Krups blade grinder I used to use.The grinds seem to be a lot more consistant. It can get a little messy, but it's a small price to pay. If you must have perfection spend the few hundred bucks, but if you want an ample grinder this one is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value coffee grinder
This is a great burr coffee grinder for the money. It runs quiet and the motor is sufficiently powerful. The basket, grind settings and the push button start are all very convenient to use.

Editorial Review

With a capacity of 2.36 ounces, this sleek machine employsstainless-steel blades to grind enough coffee beans for brewing up totwelve 5-ounce cups of percolator, drip, or espresso coffee. Thegrinder can be filled with beans and the amount of beans it grinds canbe selected with a dial that's calibrated by number of cups desired: 4,6, 8, 10, or 12. During operation, lights above the on/off button flashon the grind selector, indicating when the grind is coarse, medium, orfine, permitting the grinder to be shut off when the desired grind isachieved. The grind selector displays the words "coarse," "medium," and"fine" along with the brewing method appropriate for each grind:respectively, "perc" (percolator), "drip," and "espresso." Clad ingleaming black plastic with matte silver accents, the hourglass-shapedgrinder is thoroughly contemporary in appearance and has a rubberizedgrip and push-in cord storage. 1-0 out of 5 stars WOW!! This thing sucks. 0 STARS
I just got this thing 2 hours ago. In the middle of grinding a 16oz bag and it stops working. Made it through about 8oz...try again two hours later thinking motor got too hot, nope. Number one, this is nothing more than a typical small "hand held" grinder with a few lights and a cup dial that does absolutely nothing. DO NOT BUY THIS. The others who wrote a positive review must have been lighting the bottom of a spoon before they tried using this thing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst grinder I've ever used
--and I've used a LOT of grinders. VERY badly designed, and the "custom" thing is a gimmick and a sham: it's a standard rotary grinder. They just added flashing lights and extra buttons, and made it look bulkier. Every day was a misery dealing with this thing: it's designed so that you have no choice but to spill grinds all over the place when you use it.

Editorial Review

This hefty, bullet-shaped grinder stays cool even when the motor runs, so no flavor or aroma is lost, and its jumbo capacity prepares enough beans for a large coffeemaker in one go-round. There is also a see-through plastic lid that lets you see how fine the grind is without opening the grinder. While these are great features, the machine has its drawbacks, too. Though the Capresso claims to have low-noise, it actually seemed a little loud compared to aslightly smaller grinder that didn't have the "cool grind" feature, and it is also a big appliance for smaller adults to get their hands around. In the final analysis, this is a great grinder for those who regularly make extra-large pots of coffee and who can handle an appliance with a little extra heft. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars good value, better coffee, and do not find it to be messy
I switched to the Capresso from a Braun grinder from the dawn of time. My Braun was very messy and did not grind the beans evenly. The Capresso is a big improvement. The beans are ground evenly. The grounds come out sort of fluffy because a lot of air circulates inside. I don't think it is messy at all. But I also don't fill it to the top. I put in about 1/2 cup of beans per pot of coffee, and it fills the Capresso about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way up. So when I take off the lid, all the grounds are down inside the chamber. With my Braun, I had to fill it to the top to get the right amount of ground coffee, and then it was messy when I took off the lid. I roast my own coffee, and I like that there is a little static in the lid. The chaff from the beans rises to the top and sticks there, but the coffee grounds do not. Best of all, the Capresso really improved the taste of my coffee. I had been grinding these beans that I was hating, but using them up because I bought a pound of them. After switching to the Capresso grinder in the middle of the bag, the coffee actually came out good. So it wasn't the beans so much as my old grinder. I didn't expect such an improvement, and for only $20. I was worried I was going to have to buy an expensive burr grinder to get good coffee. I'm glad I tried this first.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
I bought this grinder and just love it.I don't seem to have any of the problems others are having...it isn't messy and my coffee has not stuck to the bottom at all.I love that it is larger, as we like our coffee strong, and with this one, we can grind a larger amount.Someone mentioned it takes up to 30 seconds to grind your coffee....well coffee should be ground for 20-30 seconds anyway for a perfect flavor...I grind it for about 25 seconds in this grinder and it comes out perfect!

1-0 out of 5 stars Messy, messy, messy
I grind beans for my coffee every morning. I was using a Krups grinder and decided to switch to this quieter grinder...sold the old grinder in a garage sale. I do regret buying this grinder. It is loud and takes 30 seconds to grind instead of 10. My main complaint is that it is messy. The grounds stick to the sides and bottom and I have to smack it several times to get all the coffee out. I am tempted to purchase another Krups before I break this one by beating the grounds out of it. Also, coffee grounds are EVERYWHERE, I always have to use a cloth to clean up. Not a good buy. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Job Recreating Vintage Coffee Grinder
I settled on this coffee Grinder frankly because I liked the way it looked (I planned to keep it on my kitchen counter) and because it matches my tangerine mixer. It is indeed very attractive on the counter. It is not perfect, though, for the following reasons.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great mill - clogging problem solved!
I bought this unit over a year ago and mechanically it worked great, however, I could never get it to grind properly without a lot of trouble. The other day I finally sat down and closely examined it to discover what the problem was.
2-0 out of 5 stars Too high Maintanence
I can not reccomend this grinder as 1) it has to be constantly cleaned (or it stops working) and the grinds end up all over your counter. There is no self contained collector, just a small glass cup that catches about 95% of the grinds when the piece is clean and much less after only one use. It's a mess and not so exceptional that it's worth the trouble.

The Bosch brand's reputation for excellence dates back to 1886, when Robert Bosch founded Robert Bosch GmbH as a precision-tool and engineering workshop in Stuttgart, Germany. Today, Bosch makes a wide variety of tools, kitchen appliances, and more. The company's MKM 6000 coffee grinder is both powerful and lightweight, and will provide you with the great taste (and aroma) that only fresh-ground coffee brings to the table. It stands 6-3/4 inches high and features a 3-ounce capacity, stainless-steel blades, and an easy-to-use push-button operating system--just put the beans in, put the lid on, and push the button. The transparent lid lets you see the beans being ground, and the machine's slanted basket design makes the coffee swirl as it's being ground, so the end result is an even grind (which translates into better coffee). 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Value / Product
This is our first Coffee Grinder and did not know much about them except what feedback other's have wrote here.We decided on this Bosch Unit. This grinder simply rocks !!Very simple operation, just remove the lid, add the beans and place the lid back on it and depress the small button and away it goes, we have been grinding our beans very fine and we have it down to a science, we add just enough beans to use for 10 cups of Kona Coffee, and when it is done, just wipe it clean, that simple. This unit is built well, the blades appear very solid and not cheaply made.Would I recommend this Coffee Grinder, YES !I do not think you can find a better built unit that is priced right .....

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Grinder
This is the best coffee grinder I've ever owned.Mine's been in a box for several years because someone gave us a K**** grinder for Christmas, and we were using it because it was a gift.We just moved, and couldn't find the other grinder, but found the Bosch.I couldn't believe how quietand fast it was compared to the other grinder.A night and day difference. Those who complain that it doesn't grind evenly probably haven't tried pulsing the grinder while grinding (or giving it a quick shake part way through the process). It works great.
4-0 out of 5 stars Need a replacement blade!
My wife bought me this grinder about ten years ago and I've had nothing but good luck with it.I do not grind spices or anything else with it, just coffee, for that purpose it works great. However, the blade recently cracked and fell off. This seemed like a simple problem, just get a new blade. Ha-Ha silly me.The motor still cranks but the grinder is worthless without a blade. I know just get a new one its only $20.00. I'm funny that way, its the principal. If anyone knows where I can get a new blade (...) If not I'll buy a new one, no biggy. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The aroma of freshly ground coffee is tough to beat--and so is this Capresso burr grinder. While the machine feels somewhat lightweight and not overly durable, it does a fine job of uniformly grinding the beans at hand. The grind selector allows you to choose the size suitable for your coffee machine, while the electronic timer lets you grind beans for the appropriate number of cups. Once in a while, when the bean container is full, the beans tend to get caught in the grinder--but a quick shake of the contraption should dislodge any rogue beans and start the grinding action again. The burr grind wheel is removable for easy cleaning. This machine is easy to operate, but the lack of an instruction manual may prove an obstacle for the mechanically challenged. Read more

Features

  • Grinds beans for 2 to 12 cups of coffee; 1/2-pound bean container
  • Ground-coffee container has lid for refrigerator storage
  • 17-position grind selector with electronic timer, auto shutoff

5-0 out of 5 stars Counterpoint to negative reviews
I've been using this model of the Capresso burr grinder for about four years. I am bewildered by some of the negative comments I see on Amazon, for they are directly contradictory to my experience. The only disadvantage that I'll concede on this model is that it's not the right choice for high volume grinding for a large number of people. At home for an individual or a couple, it's hard to imagine a better solution or a better value. The price is great for a burr grinder.Mine has been producing accurate grinds without fail for the entire four-year period I've owned it.Visitors who grind their own coffee have commented that it's comparatively quiet. It won't dust your kitchen as long as you don't forget to slide the hopper into place (knock on wood). It has 1-9 coarseness settings. It does seem that if you ALWAYS use the same grind, it kind of "settles in" to that setting. It may be a good idea to use varying settings occasionally.Highly recommended for any home user.

1-0 out of 5 stars not a good choice
This product is not well built or long lasting. Mine stopped working after 60 days. My Krups mill has lasted 15 years but is not right for a uniform espresso grind so I purchased the Capresso.I agree the ground coffee recepticle is poorly designed & makes a mess but my primary objection is the poor quality of materials & construction.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended for home use
I bought this item for use in an office of 40 people, which is NOT recommended for this product. It's been receiving constant use for 3 months with only minor problems. It is slightly messy, but that is inherent to all home grinders. The mess that it does make is easy to clean with a damp cloth. The entire unit is easy to clean as well. The grinder is much quieter than I was expecting.(If you're looking for a silent grinder, there is no such thing.)I would recommend this product for home use to a casual coffee drinker.A coinsurer might not like it; however, the size of the grinds can be inconsistent at times. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Grind not chop
The coffee tastes so much fuller after the beans are actually ground verses chopped as previously done by our old "grinder".

5-0 out of 5 stars worth the money
Like all purchases, I hesistated on this grinder. Now that I've had it for a couple of months, I'm glad I got it.I moved up from a Capresso unit that was flimsy, loud, and left a big mess. This one is none of those things. When I pull the drawer out with my grinds, it does so neatly and smoothly, breaking a small seal betweem the grind compartment and the unit.I dump the grinds into my filter, put the drawer back, and there are little to no grinds anywhere but in the coffee maker. It takes up less space than the Capresso or many others that I've seen.Sure, the grind settings are inside, but I haven't changed it ever since I found the first one I need. The one flaw? The cup numbers on the gauge are off- I use the 12 cup setting for 6 cups.I'm used to it by now, but how did they come up with these numbers?
5-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.
It is worth the money. It grinds the beans into consistently-sized particles, unlike my old grinder. It is easy-to-use.Mine is over two years old and has been trouble-free.As far as some others' comments about the noise, it is a coffee grinder, so it is not going to as be quiet as a toaster. My old grinder was also noisy, except that it made a very annoying high-pitched noise.Static electric charge is almost non-existent.Its rectangular shape requires miminal counter space.

3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Deliver Everything It Claims
Briefly, here's how the Cuisinart Burr Mill is supposed to work. With 18 different grind settings, it should produce 18 different grinds, ranging from ultra-course to ultra-fine.Moreover, it is programmed to automatically adjust the volume of grounds up or down, depending on the grind selection: the finer the grind, the smaller the volume.(This is clearly a programmed outcome, and not the natural result of the machine's grinding coffee more finely.)Set the grinder on 10 cups and you'll always get 10 cups' worth of grounds--whether you're making "camp coffee" over a fire pit, using a French press, stovetop percolator, electric percolator, drip coffeemaker, Melitta pour-through cone system, or an espresso machine--provided you've dialed-in the proper grind setting for your system. That's how it's supposed to work.
