What a mess!
I was so excited to receive this Kitchen Aid grinder as a Christmas gift.I can't clearly express my disappointment and frustration with this grinder.I've since read numerous reviews about the coffee grinds left behind or sent flying all over the counter.I am a witness to this disaster.Each morning I cringe knowing the mess I will have to clean up before enjoying some coffee.Grinds are sent in all directions.I clean the spout out after each use to no avail.I boxed up the grinder this morning and will return it for a Cuisinart burr mill grinder.It's half the price and it does not leave the mess behind.I'm amazed that Kitchen Aid continues to manufacture this product with the problems of shooting grinds.Don't buy this grinder, unless you like to spend your morning cleaning your counter!

Not for spices at all!
I needed a spice grinder and got this because it was the only one available locally at the time.The box on it said "Coffee and spice grinder," and my father used one of these for coffee for years, so I figured it had to be okay.After buying it, it was obvious that the "spice grinder" part was a marketing gimmick as the included docs didn't talk about it at all.End result, while it did a fine job grinding, it is impossible to clean!Neither the metal bowl nor the blade can be removed, so you can't scrub it, especially the bottom of the blade.There is also a seam between the bowl and the plastic which collects ground spices.Unless you want your freshly ground cinnamon tasting like coriander and black pepper, don't buy this unless you buy one for each spice.I'm sure it does a fine job with coffee, but for spices, it is not good and I feel ripped off.I kept it and cleaned as best I could until I found a Kitchen-Aid model, that while not quite as good at grinding, is able to be cleaned.Much better!

Only a shadow of it's former self
I was given a Krups model 203 in 1976. It worked perfectly, every single day... until I dropped it, two weeks ago. I'm getting it repaired now.
Better than the Braun
A little over 6 months ago we read about the benefits of grinding flaxseed and eating it with cereal, and decided to try it.So we bought the Braun KSM-2 grinder for the purpose, and it worked reasonably well.

A great little grinder
My first coffee grinder purchase ever, and I'm very satisfied. Well built, easy to clean with a damp cloth, and it takes quite some time to heat up. That was important to me, since hearing so many people having grinders overheat from more than a little use. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the cord is rather small, but hey, I'll adapt.

Other than a burr grinder, this is probably the best one
Burr grinders give you less heat and more even grinding, but for the money, you can't beat the Krups Fast-Touch. The oval shape is supposed to distribute the heat and give a better grind. It's also large enough to accommodate beans for a 10 cup pot. Some other grinders I've seen have trouble handling enough coffee. Fresh ground coffee tastes better, and this is a reasonably good device for grinding the beans. ... Read more

don't like this one
I've had a Krups burr grinder for many years and like it, but when I started making French press coffee, I needed something that would give me a coarser grind.I bought this one and didn't like it from the beginning.It's very awkward to empty the ground coffee, it gets all over the place.But the real problem with this coffee grinder is getting the amount of ground coffee that I want.Sometimes I set it for, say, three cups and that's what I get, and other times, it seems to forget to turn off and I get more than double that.I'm looking for a better designed machine, but until I find one, I'm going back to my Krups. ... Can't recommend this grinder
I've had this grinder for about 6 months. It does grind, though it's noisy. I find that their idea of the amount of coffee needed for, say, 4 cups is very different from mine. But these are minor problems. My biggest complaint is that it clogs nearly every time I use it. There are the minor clogs - when the oiliness of the coffee beans makes the grounds stick together and clog up the hole -- which is apparently too small -- between the grinding mechanism and the ground coffee hopper. You have to use a skewer to clear this, literally about every 2 minutes or less of grinding time.Then there are the major clogs, when a bean gets caught in the grinding mechanism, and the thing refuses to work. For this, you need to dump out any beans, remove the top container, and then take a chopstick and turn the burr part around to dislodge the bean. This happens about every other grinding session.Finally, the thing is terrifically messy, with grounds actually flying through the air as soon as you open it - I end up with coffee grounds all over me, the counter, and any nearby objects.Major cleanup necessary.

Good grinder, but a bit messy
I have read some good reviews of this grinder, but bought one sight unseen a couple days ago. I needed a replacement for my Capresso 553, which burned out last month, and the La Pavoni Alpina happened to be in the store where I returned my old Capresso. It cost me about $62, after taxes, which seems to be a really low price compared to what I am seeing online.
