inaccurate height description
Overall, this is a great product.I am frustrated, though, because the description of it says that its height adjusts from 16 to 34 inches, but when I received it, it only expands up to 28 inches.I reordered, and again received one that only expands up to 28 inches.I had measured, and wanted the one that expanded up to 34 inches, but customer service had no way of ensuring I got the product advertised.Be aware that yours, too, may only expand up to 28 inches.

BEFORE YOU START
I purchased two 00540 systems.They are perfect for overhead storage, if you don't overload them.Stick to Hyloft's recommended weight limit.Also, be very sure that you fasten the brackets securely to the ceiling studs.At first, I used a stud finder, but I don't really trust them and they don't work well, especially when you have to depend on attaching something securely from above.I also tried drilling into the studs with a manual hand drill to be sure.It felt solid and it seemed that I hit all studs exactly in the center.So, I measured the stud centers and also drilled for feel.I then installed all lag screws attaching the brackets and finished the installation.I was careful to NOT overload each unit.Four days later, I arrived home from work and opened the garage door.I saw one fully loaded shelf, along with all it's contents, upside down on the roof and hood of my recently fully restored $90,000 '55 Chevy Nomad.I didn't know what happened, but further examination proved that I missed two celiing studs by about 1/8", and it pulled out the side.So, fair warning, make sure the lag screws go solidly into the ceiling studs, then carefully test them before parking your Porsche or Lamborghini underneath.

A real space saver, but a couple of tips would have been nice
This is a very sturdy product.It is sized such that 4 of these fit over a 16' wide garage door, allowing for the door opener track to go between the middle two.The challenging part of the install is getting the brackets installed into the studs.Stud sensors don't work really well when there are 2 sheets of drywall on the garage ceiling.Fortunately, the lag screws they provide are 2 1/2" or 3" long, so they are plenty long enough.

Love it - ordered a second one!
This product is well worth the money.It offers much needed storage that is practical and easily accessible.

Great Storage
The item is heavy but putting it up was fairly strait forward. The rack easily lifts the items to the top. One problem is if the items stick out over the edge the crack is somewhat difficult to get to but this is not really a problem. Cranking is also slow because of the gearing but that is needed when lifting the heavy load. ... Read more

Strong, easy to install, great wall storage system!
After rejecting other garage wall storage options as too flimsy, too expensive, or too "one-size-fits-all," we were thinking of trying to build something ourselves when I found the Rubbermaid FastTrack system online. Rubbermaid states this is a new system supposedly in several stores by March 2005, but so far I've only seen it at Amazon and the Rubbermaid site. We ordered the 56" rail, 88" rail, and an assortment of hooks. For some reason, Amazon is the only place I've seen the 88" rail (it wasn't even listed on the Rubbermaid site).

Pretty darn good, but not perfect.
I have been using this rack for about a month now and can say that it does what it says it will do. Had I been designing it, I would have made the following changes:

Rubbermaid 3-Shelff Hardware Kit
Kit came missing one major part.Rubbermaid refused to provide it.

I'm amazed at the shelving phobia that Rubbermaid has...
The Rubbermaid product specialist for this FastTrack shelving unit has a total phobia about hanging these shelves alongside the similar Rubbermaid "Configurations" closet shelving sets available at a local "mart" store. The "Configurations" shelves and brackets are the same color and style, but I was vigorously discouraged by the highly trained specialist at Rubbermaid NOT to use them in my garage along with the FastTrack system. Since the wall in my garage is made out of the same material as the wall in my closet, I do not see what the issue is! I have followed the "Configurations" directions to a "T" and have not put more weight on the shelves than what is allowed. Despite her warning that THE SHELVING WILL COLLAPSE (the sky is falling!) it has not done so. Is this a ploy to get people to purchase the more expensive FastTrack system brackets and shelves? I have tons of FastTrack in my garage but the shelving size options are very limited plus the brackets and shelving are much more expensive to order online than if they were available at a local store (which they are not). I get frustrated with a product that is only half available in the store (most of the hanging accessories can be found at a major home store) and the rest (the shelving) has to be purchased online or from the manufacturer. Unforunately, a large amount of the products that I ordered arrived at my home completely damaged by UPS because of Rubbermaid's poor packaging of the larger items. My opinion is that Rubbermaid should make these systems more universal so that it is more widely available AND interchangable from closets to garages. I challenge you to call Rubbermaid with a few questions of your own and see how well they can help you. My experience with two phone calls was one that showed me that they are impatient and lack the information needed to be helpful in any way. Plus the person I dealt with interrupted incessantly rather than listen to my questions. Not exactly what I would consider a specialist. Keep in mind... Amazon makes you return damaged items for replacement as a whole rather than just replace pieces as needed. You will have to give yourself lots of extra time if you plan to purchase these items from them to allow for returns if necessary. Great Product--- Shipping Problems
Ordered 2 units from Amazon.When they arrived, 1 had torn open losing several pieces, so I ordered a replacement. It arrived torn open also. I contacted Amazon about the shipping problem, and in the end it was easier to contact Triton who supplied all missing parts free.
shipping concerns
I just recently ordered two triton wood racks.They arrived in separate boxes, each with an inner cardboard box as well as an outer box.The wood racks came in pristine condition without so much as a scratch on the paint.Either I got lucky twice or Amazon has listened to the comments people have posted and fixed the problem.

Works as advertised, but do you need it?
I wanted to hang two 3' stepladders on our garage wall (drywall over studs).I went to one of the big box stores and checked out my options.The standard stepladder hooks aren't deep enough for my ladders.Various other hooks were going to require me to mount a 2x4 across the studs to provide strong enough mounting points.
Great item, buy it at Home Depot.
All of the Rubbermaid Fasttrack items are fantastic.However you should buy this item at your local Home Depot and save $5.00 per rail.Same with most of the FastTrack items advertised here on Amazon.Ladder hook, save $6.50.Bike hook, save $5.00.Ad infinitum.All items have a single digit difference on the item number, those excluding them from the price match guarantees, but they appear to be exactly the same.Happy Shopping, fellow Amazoners.

I LOVE this thing!
This is a great storage cabinet!I looked around quite a bit before deciding on this one.It was definately the cheapest of all I looked at and I think the best looking.It's totally cute and very functional.It's a cinch to put together - comes with very clear instructions and no tools are needed.When it's empty it isn't very heavy and can easily be moved.The 4 shelves are adjustable to different heights as well.

Good for the Price
We purchased 2 for the kid's rooms so they could lock up their personal stuff.Our teenagers put these together in no time and are very happy with them.

Not worth it...
The construction and stability of this unit is sub par at best. Save yourself the trouble and go to Home Depot and get their Storage Unit-it is much better quality and is about the same price.

Help!
I purchased this item awhile ago and am very happy with it.I was wondering if anyone still has the instruction manual and could help me out.I turned it into two separate units and would like to make one tall unit again, but I can't remember how!Specifically, how do I attach the two shorter pieces in each corner to make a tall unit?I don't recall there being any extra parts needed to do this.Any help is greatly appreciated!

More stable than others
Besides being heavy and bulky, putting this together wasn't too bad. Once you have the first shelf or two in place, it's all downhill from there. It's been a while, but I don't remember cutting myself. This one is more stable and squared off than another one I bought with all metal shelves--that kind of shelves can bend in the middle, and I had a terrible time getting them square!! An added benefit is the fiberboard material--I stained it dark blue and coated it with a few coats of polyurethane, so it looks really nice and the shelves will last longer. Don't even bother.If you're looking for storage, organization this is NOT the item for you.Fresh out of the box this thing fell apart and was worthles.It falls apart everytime you open it (sides detach), the batteries fall out b/c of poor engineering, and it's CHEAPLY made.
