5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
This garlic press is the best! You can press several cloves at a time without peeling.Cleaning is a breeze.I am as excited as a person can be about a garlic press!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good garlic press, but...
This is a sturdy garlic press with a chamber large enough for 2 or 3 cloves at a time. The only issue with this press is that the piston is a bit smaller than the chamber, which allows some of the pressed garlic to leak back past the piston.
5-0 out of 5 stars best garlic press ever
I bought this press when i lived in Ireland and have used it incessantly for 3 years - sooo easy to clean and pressses the garlic perfectly. Good grip to it, easy to squeeze, fits the hand well. had to write about it - can't say enough about how great it is. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Pick up this garlic press and you’ll instantly recognize its superior quality—it’s heavy and solid, yet beautifully balanced. An elegant combination of zinc and stainless steel with black cushioning insets on the handles add up to a work of art. Several cloves of garlic can be pressed at once; then, swing the handle around on the smooth-as-butter hinge and forty durable plastic teeth push out the pulpy residue. While dishwasher-safe, the press can also be quickly hand-cleaned with a soapy brush. You’ll never want another garlic crusher after using this one. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Gummy handles in dishwasher
We have had this garlic press for a number of years, but now its handles have turned so gummy from repeated dishwashing that they turn the kitchen counter black just by laying it down. Plan on buying a new one every couple of years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent feel and weight!
This is the best garlic press I have used. Very nice weight. Easy to use and clean. The only thing negative about it is the plastic cleaning teeth that can be broken while cleaning if not handled carefully.

5-0 out of 5 stars She's so heavy...
I have always been annoyed by the difficulty with cleaning my old garlic press, so I decided to upgrade my own press when I was online buying a wedding present. This is a great quality press and it cleans up so easily. The only drawback for some people with small hands might be the weight and thickness of the handles. However, it presses easily and smoothly, so for most hands that might not be a problem at all.The gadget I bought at the same time that I really love is the silicone garlic peel remover. It is so fun to use.I have to stop myself from peeling more garlic than I need! ... One of Rösle's superb kitchen tools, this 9-inch garlic pressminces even unpeeled cloves of garlic with a cunningly engineered levermechanism that requires minimal pressure. Another nice touch is themincing head that flicks open for easy rinsing. Pressing the handlesafterward locks them together for storage. Like all Rösle tools, utensils, and Open Kitchen storage components, the garlic press is madeof 18/10 stainless steel for rustproof beauty and long-lastingdurability. The round handles have a satin finish to conceal fingermarks (in pleasing contrast to the mirror-finish head). The handles aresealed against water, and one handle has a hanging ring so the garlicpress can be conveniently stored on a hook in the Open Kitchen systemof Rösle basic rails and Gridwalls or hung on any hook or peg. Thegarlic press is sturdy, balanced, and exceptionally comfortable in thehand. All Rösle products are made in Germany, are dishwasher-safe, andcarry a lifetime warranty against defects. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Superior design and function
After years of using cheap, hard to use, hard to clean, and inefficient garlic presses I finally bought this one...based mostly on the 18/10 stainless steel (instead of aluminum or cheap pot metal) and good reviews. It is certainly worth every penny and all of the glowing reviews are spot-on. A perfect marriage of form and function.Even large cloves of garlic are easily and completely crushed, virtually squirting out the inner garlic and leaving behind only the outer skin. Not only is it efficient, it is beautifully designed and very easy to clean. One reviewer felt it was not very ergonomic for small hands....I wear size 6 ladies gloves and have absolutely no trouble using this press at all. The Rösle Garlic Press is the best garlic press I've used in 45+ years of crushing garlic.I fully expect this press to last for a lifetime.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unbreakable
It's crazy, but you do have to spend this much for a garlic press. I make three gallons of pesto every year, and I've broken four different presses. There either aluminum, cheap pot metal, or have some terrible hinge design (Zyliss and Oxo to name a few). I give the Rosle a four star because of it's design for very large hands - not very ergonomic. Check out the Kuhn Rikon. Either way, stainless and a hinged drop out sieve is way to go for any garlic press.

5-0 out of 5 stars When your 8 year old son says "Wow!" you listen
Based purely on the reviews here, I purchased this (after choking on the price) as a replacement for a generic press that I'd used with marginal success for years. It arrived and I put it in the gadget drawer without using it.A couple of weeks later my 8 year old found it , used it, and ran in to my office with an amazed look on his face demanding to know where I got the great new garlic press.I almost fell over laughing, but it was a heck on an endorsement.Oh, BTW, I tried it later and it does live up to its billing. ... Zyliss, the Swiss maker of quality kitchen accessories, has refined the garlic press into a streamlined kitchen tool. There's no need to tediously peel garlic before pressing any longer--just place the whole clove into the press and squeeze. The peelings remain in the receptacle and garlic bits and juice are pressed out. The press is easily cleaned with the accompanying cleaning tool, which is conveniently stored in the handle so it won't be misplaced. Just match up the cleaner pegs with the holes in the garlic press to remove remaining peelings. Also, its aluminum construction makes this item dishwasher-safe. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars not the easiest clean up
it does work great, however i think mine is missing the clean up piece. i ordered this on 1/23/06 and it did NOT come with the insert. however, besides having to use a toothpick to clean it; it works great. plus, there are only a few holes that clogged so it doesn't take forever to clean, however, i thought it would be super easy to clean. it isn't.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great if you receive it
I ordered this item last May based on the reviews.By September, it was still in back order. As I had already thrown away my garlic press because it got stuck all the time, I couldn't wait to get a good one.Well, I waited and waited and waited.I kept receiving emails from Amazon about it being in back order asking me to approve the order.I kept doing it (for 5 months) until I got tired of waiting.I ended up buying one at Target. It's a Chefmate, cost me about $6.00 and it works great.Very sturdy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Quickly roast garlic for a restaurant quality snack.
I bought one from the Sharper Image store for $35 and it was well worth the $$$.The roasted garlic is just like the appetizer you get at nice restaurants -- buttery texture / lightly caramelized flavor you can easily spread with a butter knife. This machine is great for making garlic bread or roasting garlic to put with mashed potatoes.I've been spreading the garlic from it on my hamburger buns when I make burgers and it's awesome. It works really quickly (1 button press and 27 mins) and cleanup is super easy.My only complaint is the "cooking area" for the garlic is a bit smaller than you'd think for the size of the unit.It says you can cook three bubls in there but the garlic I buy must be bigger because I can usually only get one large garlic bulb to fit at a time.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT!
THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE MACHINE.IT'S VERY SIMPLE, EASY, AND QUICK TO USE.JUST POP IN YOUR GARLIC BULBS AND TURN IT ON.IT ROASTS THE GARLIC TO PERFECTION AND IT JUST POPS RIGHT OUT OF THE SKINS!IT'S VERY SLICK!IF YOU LOVE GARLIC, YOU'LL LOVE THIS! IT'S A KEEPER! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm not gadget-y, but this is great!
I don't normally use alot of electronics in the kitchen-- hardly even a blender, so this is a rarity for me, but I love it.I am a huge fan of roasted garlic, but also live in Florida, where it's a BAD idea to have your oven going during about half the year. This machine roasted 3 bulbs to creamy perfection with no scorching and the outside of the roaster was only a little warm to the touch. And clean up was just a few seconds. Also, I have the terracotta-colored machine and it looks downright cute on the counter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Neat
This isn't a kitchen essential, but it's nice to have if you are a gadget junkie and garlic lover like me!The garlic roasts just as it does in the oven and fills the air with that wonderful aroma. This works great for me, now I can roast one head of garlic or three!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I received this for Christmas. I have used it several times a week since December. We LOVE roasted garlic. It's so nice not to heat up an entire oven just to roast garlic. This machine does a beautiful job and it is done in 27 minutes! We roast garlic and use it on small pieces of toast (appetizer for our wine parties), I ALWAYS put two heads of roasted garlic in my mashed potatoes. I have really put mine to the test and so far, I can't complain.

Editorial Review

Roasted garlic is all the rage, and for good reason: its sweet, savory flavor adds depth and richness to many dishes and it's an easy appetizer when served with a crusty loaf of bread. This terra cotta garlic baker comes equipped with a basic recipe to get you started. There's even a microwave version, but taking the time in the oven gives the best results. The glazed bottom of the baker is easy to clean and the porous, unglazed lid holds in just enough moisture to bake the garlic until it has carmelized, without drying it out. The baker can also be used to store fresh garlic between uses. Read more

  • Made from terra cotta with an attractive garlic-shaped handle
  • Base is 5-1/2 inches wide
  • Lid includes steam vent
  • Will accommodate several medium to large heads of garlic

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fine Addition to Any Kitchen
This garlic baker is a fine addition to any kitchen. After several weeks of use, it has never failed to produce tastey, roasted garlic, which in turn has proven to be a delicious addition to pizza or pasta sauce.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
My husband and I love this item!We can fit 2 (or sometimes 3) garlic bulbs into this garlic baker that we put into our little convection oven. It's really easy and the garlic comes out perfect!

5-0 out of 5 stars Garlic 101
I grow and eat lots of organic garlic ... Every summer you can see the huge purple orbs of garlic blooms right in my front courtyard garden, alongside other beautiful (yet less practical) flowers. The Norpro Garlic Baker is large enough to easily accommodate a big head of elephant garlic or several smaller heads of regular garlic. And it's so easy! You just whack the top end of the entire garlic head off before baking, and the naked cloves are easy-peezie to remove from the outer coverings once it's cooked. I like to soak the lid of my Norpro in water before baking, as that keeps the garlic head extra moist while it's cooking. The best part: my garlic is being cooked while I'm preparing the rest of my meal, so the Norpro allows me to multi-task! I would like a smaller version to carry with me when I travel. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple but good garlic press
This is a very simple garlic press for the kitchen.Simple take a few pieces, insert, press, and roll.In a few seconds, but have peeled garlic. This press is only for SMALL pieces at a time.Nevertheless, it is worth it if you hate peeling every little piece of garlic skin by hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive!
I have always hated peeling garlic, but no more! Now I have to stop myself from peeling more garlic than I need.It is so fun to do.I have found that it does not work well on fresh garlic from the farmer's market. The outer peel still retains too much moisture to come off easily. But for the other nine months of the year when I have to use supermarket garlic, this item will be used almost every day in my kitchen.Pop the garlic in, roll it around a few times, and after removing the clove simply rinse the dried peel out. Love it!Gets my vote for best kitchen gadget I have bought this year.

1-0 out of 5 stars WOW, what an amazing rip-off!!
I suppose this will actually peel garlic, if you use it just right. Never, ever, ever get it wet. It will not work. Also, you must trim off both ends of the garlic, or it won't peel. And then, I still have to hand peel some of the more stubborn pieces. It's just not worth the money. If you look around, you can find much cheaper garlic peelers out there.....BUY THEM!! ... Editorial Review

There are a couple of really nice things going for this ceramic garlic keeper by Norpro: it's good-looking, yet restrained in its Old World ornamentation; and while it will never contain that entire Costco mesh bag of Gilroy, California's chief crop, it will provide optimal storage conditions for three or four larger heads of garlic (not including the jumbo-sized but deceptively mild elephant garlic). Firm, plump, heavy heads with unbroken, tight, papery skin deserve a dry, cool (but not refrigerated), well-ventilated 'hood, something this 5-inch-high garlic keeper provides with a touch of Italian élan. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great garlic keeper
I was not disappointed in this item. It is attractive and looks just like the picture. It's a nice size: not too small, not too large.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bigger than expected
What can you say, it's a garlic keeper? I used to keep garlic on my counter in a small dish. This garlic keeper is pretty and covered and keeps garlic out of sight. It matches in color with the butter keeper I bought, so it works well for me and keeps my counter looking better organized. I like that it's bigger than expected. I can keep 4-6 bulbs in it.

I agree with the below! Why it is on the "necessary kitchen gadgets lists" I do not know!It just sits collecting dust in my drawer, especially with its sticky material. You still gotta place a good amount of pressure on the garlic to mash it when you could do the same with a flick of the wrist with the flat side of a big knife!Waste of money. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Good Looks, Lousy Performance
This garlic press looks good on paper. With its interchangeable plates, you can adjust the size of the pressed garlic - a great idea. But this contraption is so big and cumbersome, it's a mess to use.Not to mention the fact that it's just too easy to pinch your fingers between the handles as you press down - foolish design. So while this sure looks good sitting in the drawer, it's not a practical kitchen tool, and I'd suggest sticking to Oxo or Zyliss or another tried-and-true design.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well-made and looks great
I love the removable pieces on this garlic press - makes washing up a breeze. You do need a firm hand (or two) when using the smaller mesh to force the garlic through, but the result is excellent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Garlic Press
I strongly disagree with the other review; this is the most comfortable garlic press I've ever used, even compared to models by OXO. The handles are large and easy on the hands. Pressing cloves is very easy and requires little effort. The design is very intelligent (the package states it's a German design) - the press comes with two mesh stainless steel screens - one with larger holes and one with smaller holes. They are both removable, so cleanup is easy. The whole thing is solidly built out of stainless steel and has a good heft to it. Very happy with it, overall. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great until it broke
I have owned two of these Kitchenaid garlic presses. They work great for awhile.Eventually (less than 2 years) the plastic handle will snap off due to the inherent design flaw. The plastic is merely glued to the metal which creates a weak area.I would recommend another press.

1-0 out of 5 stars FAKE: not as sturdy as it looks
Judging from the price and the weight, I thought I was buying a garlic press that would be a pleasure to use and would last for ever. I was wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy little tool
I have to admit that I don't usually buy stuff based on only one review, but in this case I did, and I'm glad.First thing I noticed was the heft of the garlic twister...it's plastic, but not flimsy.
4-0 out of 5 stars Twist that garlic!
This was an impulse purchase, but I use it almost every day.Smash the cloves with the cover to remove the skins, then drop the cloves (I've used up to five) into the container and slowly lower and twist the cover. The garlic gets shredded and pushed into two little triangles for easy use.

Editorial Review

The mechanics of this garlic peeler are so simple, you’ll wonder how you lived without one for so long. Honored at the January 2003 Housewares Show as one of the best products of the year, this peeler is quick and effortless at removing skin from garlic cloves. The tool is shaped like a bulb of garlic in a fun, festive color. Cooks simply drop up to three cloves at a time into the bulb and roll it back and forth across their work surface. The peeler flips inside out to remove the peeled cloves, keeping hands free of garlic odors. This kitchen tool is made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, which provides a non-skid interior surface that gently pulls peels away from the garlic. SilconeZone’s revolutionary tool turns inside-out for cleaning in the dishwasher and is covered by a lifetime warranty. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good garlic peeler
This garlic peeler worked well for me. However, I prefer the "roll" type. The only advantage to this one is that the garlic stays in the peeler. It is not easy to clean, I had to turn it inside-out to get all the skins out.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get the regular "roll" kind instead
I bought one of these from Macy's a while ago.Since it's a little cheaper than the other roll type (looks like a toilet paper cardboard tube), I thought I'd give it a try.I had two heads of garlic to peel, and I tried to use this garlic peeler to shuck cloves. It really didn't do anything, didn't matter how many cloves were in the ball at a time.
2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work that well...
I use a lot of garlic for cooking and I've been wanting a peeler. I was disappointed that this peeler did not really get the peel off. Save a couple bucks- just pop your garlic cloves in the microwave for 10 seconds. Peel comes off easy! ... Read more
