5-0 out of 5 stars Unusually Large but Versatile
I thought this knife sounded big for a paring knife and boy was I right. This is really great for slicing/boning/paring.Of course, if you have the money and the inclination, go for actual slicing and boning knives and get a 3-3.5" paring knife.I basically use this and a 8" chef's knife for everything. The steel is high quality forged german carbon stainless steel.Of course, like all knives, clean and dry this knife directly after use.It won't let you down.As a paring knife, i'd give it 4 stars, but i've found its versatility worth that fifth star. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not as simple as it appears...
I my opinion, for what it may be worth, you would be better off buying pre-stoned Olives or like the ancient Romans and Greeks, put up with the stones and serve with a side plate for them! Olives on the stone are afterall much firmer, tastier and less processed. This mangled every olive I tried to de-stone! even the firmer green variety. If you are not making tapenade then don't even bother to stone black olives because they get completely mushed. The idea is simple, the procees easy but the results are awful. I have never tried doing cherries like the other reviewer here but her testament kind of suggests it's not worth the effort. I say enjoy the cherry stones, it is naughty but it is also enormous fun spitting them out (so long as you don't litter!) I would say try other fruits with wee, wee children and teach them how to eat cherries when they are old enough, you could even plant the pit to get the child into the joys of gardening and home produced food.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good for snacking...
I got one of these so that I could safely feed my toddlers cherries and fancy olives more easily...this pitter served that purpose very well.If your goal is to pit enough cherries for a pie or similar recipe, however, this is *not* the cherry pitter for you.I just spent an hour and a half using this thing to pit enough cherries for a cobbler - not something I ever plan to do again.Until I get a plunge-style pitter, I plan on keeping cherries in the "delicious snack" category, not in the "baking ingredient" one. ... 165. OXO SteeL 50081 Swivel Peeler

Editorial Review

This tough, durable, 8-inch peeler gets a potato naked for its bath in a jiffy. Cucumber, carrot, and apple peels succumb quickly, too. The swivel blade follows the contours of fruits and vegetables, ensuring that bits of peel don't remain behind. The blade guard's rounded tip digs out potato eyes and other defects. Oxo's Steel line is an all-stainless-steel variant of the company's familiar fat-handled Good Grips line. Rather than being straight-sided, this tool's handle is tapered from heel to finger grip and has satin-finish, stainless-steel panels top and bottom. The handle's sides feature the same design as those in the Good Grips line--they're made of soft processed rubber for comfort, with"fins," or grooves, that flex under pressure, conforming to individual finger grips and providing control when handles are wet or slippery. Like all Oxo tools, this peeler is dishwasher-safe; a hole in its handle facilitates hanging on a hook or peg. Read more

  • Swivel blade follows contours of vegetables and fruits
  • Sturdy stainless-steel construction
  • Tapered handle with soft, nonslip sides

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
I've always had issues with peelers (probably because I've only ever had the really cheap ones), but the OXO peeler is great! It's really sharp, is comfortable to hold, and, most importantly, peels quickly and easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best OXO peeler yet
I have had several OXO peelers, and this is the best so far. It looks great, cuts great and is very easy to hold. It is very sharp out of the box, and after 6 months of use it is still going strong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sharp and Comfortable to Hold
I've had this peeler for over a year now, and use it frequently.Being from Maine, and living in a beautiful area of small farms, I always felt a bit guilty that I rarely made mashed potatoes, potato salad etc., as I HATED to peel potatoes, even local ones.Read more

This handy little tool grates the peels of lemons, limes, and oranges into bits that make recipes more flavorful. Five tiny holes with blades produce little slivers of orange peel to flavor a cake or lemon peel to enrich a creamy pasta sauce. A single wider blade produces strips of zest for candying or garnishing cocktails. Designed to be functional as well as fashionable, the zester is made of durable stainless steel and has an ergonomic handle made of comfortable molded plastic with stainless-steel accents. The zester is dishwasher-safe, and has an eye for hanging from a toolbar. This Cuisinart kitchen tool is covered by a five-year, limited warranty. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best peeler I've ever had!
This peeler works great! I really do not like to peel fruits and veggies, but with this I actually don't mind. Definately owns up to the KitchenAid repuation, which lately is unlikely. It seems many of the KitchenAid stuff I've stocked my kitchen with performs mediocre at best. This one is an exception, and IS exceptional.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have item
I've owned several peelers, including Pampered Chef. This is the easiest peeler that I have ever used.I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best....
I've had this peeler for about a year now.I use it often and it has held up great; even after running it thru the diswasher it still looks brand new.

2-0 out of 5 stars Broke the first time I used it
Sure, it gets the pits out of the cherries. But after just the seventh or eighth cherry, the metal "stay" snapped cleanly off. This does not disable the pitting action, it just adds a step to get the cherry off the post.I am thinking of returning it just because I am annoyed that it is so poorly engineered.Otherwise, it works fine and has a lovely shape. ... Editorial Review

Branching out from its already successful cookware line, Anolon’s Brunello collection features high-grade materials with substantial weight. This 3-1/2-inch parer is an essential kitchen knife for peeling, slicing, and trimming small fruits and vegetables. However, the smooth edge feels a little "sticky" when cutting through thicker fruit peels. Immediate sharpening on a fine steel is recommended before using this parer to bring its edge to a sharper and safer angle. Read more

The super-sharp 2-3/4-inch cutting edge and ergonomic handle make this a top-notch peeling knife. Forged in Solingen, Germany, of a combination of ice-hardened carbon and stainless steel for edge retention, rust-resistance, and durability, this knife neatly removes any peel or unwanted blemish from fruit and vegetables. The knife's "curved beak" blade facilitates maneuvering in tight corners. When it is finally time to sharpen the edge of this knife, worry not, for it lends itself well to both a sharpening stone and steel.Read more
