    Editorial Review

There's nothing as luscious as a ripe mango. Growing in popularity, mangoes are now available in many stores year-round and can be eaten fresh, cubed into salads, or sliced and baked on top of chicken breasts. Helping prepare the fruit for eating is this ingenious mango splitter from OXO. The splitter is a circular white plastic device with sharp stainless-steel blades in the center and OXO's signature black comfort handles on two sides. Holding both handles, the user pushes the blades down through the mango from the top, separating the seed from two halves of mango. The flesh can then be cubed or sliced off the skin on those two halves. After the prep work, the mango splitter slips right into the dishwasher for hassle-free cleaning. Read more

    Features

    • Mango splitter makes the fruit no longer a chore to prepare
    • Slices fruit cleanly in half, leaving almost nothing behind on the seed
    • Single-press convenience; soft, comfortable handles provide a secure grip
    • Sharp, sturdy, stainless-steel blades; dishwasher-safe
    • Measures 5-1/4 by 6-3/4 by 2 inches; limited lifetime warranty

1-0 out of 5 stars Might work if the size and ripeness is just right.
I saw all the good reviews for the mango splitter so I got one. I eat mango's frequently and usually use a knife to to cut off each side. I used the splitter on a large mango that was on the ripe side. I found it was hard to push, never did get all the way through and made a mushy mess. Seems to me that it would work only if the mango was the proper size and ripeness.
5-0 out of 5 stars One gadget you should buy!
I am not a cook or foodie.I hate touching food & I was raised to fear knives so I'm not very good with them. But this is a MUST HAVE.I could not cut a mango to save my life until this.I read a positive review in my partner's Cook's Illustrated and bought it for her/us immediately. It doesn't waste a drop of delicious mango flesh!Yum!!
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best purchases I have made all year!
I love mangos but hate cutting them up. This little gadget has made it easy as pie. It is very easy to use.

    Editorial Review

For fluffy, evenly sized cheese shreds, this is the perfect grater. Its design is based on that of a rasp, the small and efficient woodworking tool. The cutters are especially sharp, which guarantees easy grating. But this also means you'll need to exercise extra caution--no one likes grated knuckles. The large handle allows for a firm grip, and the completely flat grating surface makes it easy to move the cheese across the blades. Carrots, onions, and medium to firm cheeses all worked beautifully with this grater. It's also an excellent choice for larger strips of citrus zest or ginger. Read more

    Features

    • Designed to extract the best flavor from your food
    • High-quality stainless steel with grating edges that stay razor sharp
    • Excellent for hard cheeses, onions, citrus fruits, ginger and more
    • Blade measures 8-1/2 inches long; ergonomic black plastic handle
    • Hand wash and dry thoroughly

5-0 out of 5 stars EASY!
I have watched chefs on cooking shows use this microplane and thought I would give it a try. I am thrilled. The first time I used it to zest a lemon, it took the zest and left the pith behind. I plan on using this item for many, many things and I know it will work just fine.

This food mill is an excellent tool for making homemade baby purees from fibrous ingredients, such as peas, dried apricots, or prunes, as it pushes through the smooth pulp and leaves the fiber behind. In addition, it strains seeds and skin from tomatoes to make soup or sauce and makes the fluffiest mashed potatoes. Made of high-quality stainless-steel, this tomato/vegetable mill has three heavy-duty blades with fine, medium, and coarse holes to accommodate many different foods. After inserting the proper blade, you can load up to 2.1 quarts of puree ingredients into the mill. Then simply rotate the handle to push fruits and veggies through the strainer with the paddle. The food mill has three non-slip legs that allow it to rest on any pot or bowl with a 9-inch or smaller diameter. For mess-free clean-up, the mill is dishwasher-safe. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for applesauce
I make homemade applesauce every year.I had an old (regular steel) Foley Food mill which is probably 25 or more years old. It's starting to show it's age.I wanted to get one for my daughter who is setting up her own household, so picked up one of these. After using hers, I decided to give up on MY old one and get one for myself.I also had a minute or so of difficulty assembling, but not bad.The only thing I wish I had was some sort of guidelines on what kind of food goes best with each insert (e.g., which to use for mashed potatoes?).I guessed to use the middle for applesauce and it worked great.I plan to experiment with mashing potatoes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well made for price
This is a great food mill compared to others in the price range. It has a larger diameter than my old mill which makes it faster. The disks are well made and are sharp/abrasive enough to process the food. The spring is strong enough to force most of the food through.
5-0 out of 5 stars MIU Food Mill
Excellent operating device that cleans easily. We've had ours now for over a year and does beautiful work. Some reviewers had assembly trouble on the account that there is no instrucion manual.I had similar difficulties initially. So, if you cannot get the mill to turn, you have the grater (insert) upside down.(This is somewhat counterintuitive because the whole device is shiny and the correct upward facing grater surface is matte. The shiny side goes down)

5-0 out of 5 stars How did I live without it??
This gadget has got the be the coolest thing I have bought for my kitchen in years (and I buy A LOT of things for my kitchen)! We are getting ready to make apple butter for the first time (my husband misses his grandmother's homemade apple butter from PA) and I wasn't looking forward to peeling, coring, and cutting bushels of apples.I saw this and figured it was worth the money to save my sanity! We got it last night and grabbed a few apples to test out... it works PERFECTLY!Even the kids are able to use it with no problems. They were all sitting at the table with their own apple cut into a spiral in minutes.AMAZING!My husband is excited... now not only will he get his apple butter, but I will bake apple pies a lot more often!
5-0 out of 5 stars Great product, but don't buy it here
This is a great peeler.Cook's Illustrated rated it as the best mechanical peeler.I had a very similar looking one that I bought last year, but it wasn't as well made as the A505 and it didn't work as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best ever
Just purchased this item.I truely don't know what I did before I got it.It takes about 7 minutes to peel enough apples for an entire pie.It does absolutely great peeling potatoes... especially the ones you skin your knuckles on with a conventional peeler. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very, very sharp
The design of this peeler is excellent. It's easy to grip, and you can reverse or replace the blade. But what really counts is the blade is sharp! Razor sharp! It works so easily it doesn't feel as if you're actually cutting. It comes with a plastic shield for the blade. I suggest you keep it and use it when you store the peeler to preserve that marvelous edge.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a very good peeler
I used it to peel an apple, and it worked great!I didn't know that peelers could do that.It is very well made, and very sharp.I would expect it to last maybe 20 years based on my twice a week or so usage.

4-0 out of 5 stars another apple slicer
You may have recalled a previous apple slicer review of mine.I enjoy them so much I can't help but review another one. It's just a lot of fun taking an apple and slicing it into eight handy and adorable little slices.Whether you use green apples, red apples, Granny Smith, whatever. This slicer will deliciously make eating apples exciting. If you're a child you can even enjoy eating healthy foods by using this product. The apple will taste better, believe me.You won't have to mess around with no silly core.Just don't go around shopping online without your parents permission.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good with a major flaw
This devise cores and divides apples with no problem but it is a pain to clean.Where the metal folds over itself in several places there is a gap that collects bits of apple.Cleaning it with a toothpick every time I use it is a pain. Flushing it under the tap doesn't do it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The OXO Corer
This is an outstanding device. in several I've had before the cutter blades were not fastened to the center piece. They would flex as the coring progressed and the slices would be rendered a mess. This corer has rigidly attached blades and therefore cuts clean, perfect slices every time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars oxo good grips peeler
I found this peeler to be of outstanding construction. It is easy to use and cleans easily.I am happy with my new purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just a GREAT peeler
I am a fan of this "style" peeler as they are typically easier to hold. I would have to say this is the best peeler I have owned. Over my 25 years of cooking I have had about a dozen different brands of this type of peeler. This one is super sharp, easy to hold, and best of all you can replace the blades when needed in the future. The only downside, if you can call it that, is that it takes a thicker peel than other similar peelers. I would recommend this to anyone who peels vegetables on a regular basis, it will save you time! It's also wonderful if you want thin strips of carrot or cucumber for salads, that is the positive side of a slightly thicker peel.

5-0 out of 5 stars great product
If you are shopping for a wonderful peeler that really does a great job this is the one. It is built in a sturdy way and has a replaceable blade. It does a great job on difficult peels. The one caution I would give is that since I get cuts all over whenever I use a peeler for this one, the cut will be stronger than another peeler. Therefore do what I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars a handy tip for squeezing
This isn't immediately obvious, and indeed somewhat counter-intuitive, so I thought I would share. To prevent the juice from squirting up into your eyes, and to achieve proper extraction, you need to place the lemon or lime half with the cut side pointed down into the press, not up facing you, which would seem to fit better. The squeezer will get every last drop out, and in the process invert the skin of the citrus inside out, leaving you with only the skin and no juice.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for limes- use safety glasses with lemons...
Use it alot for limes- without problem.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fine finish

2-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating, dulls quickly
I have used this peeler only a few times and it is already quite dull. It is now practically impossible to peel an apple with it, although on straight peels, like carrots, it still works like any other mediocre peeler. Also, the "swivel" never really worked well. It was always difficult to peel a curved surface like an apple with this thing.

I am a stage performer as well as a chef. I specialize in contortion and throwing knives (often with my feet). I use the Wusthof so much in the kitchen, that I thought I would incorporate it into my act. I throw the knives at flying fruit and vegis and perform flips with knives between my toes and fling them at my assistants. Throwing knives are usually smaller, perfectly balanced, and forged from one solid piece. They require perfect tang as well and incredible strength. Wusthof is the ONLY high-end kitchen knife that meets these requirements.

This odd-looking contraption peels, cores, and slices a basket of apples for a tarte, a crisp, or fritters in less time and with less effort than can be done by hand. The old-fashioned apple peeler has a suction cup bottom to keep it steady on a work surface and a clamp to secure it to the edge of a counter or cutting board. To use, skewer an apple on the end of the apple peeler’s three-pronged fork with the tines positioned around the core of the apple. Next, swing the arm that holds the peeling blade toward the apple so it’s just grazing the skin. Start turning the apple corer’s hand crank and the machine simultaneously removes the apple’s skin and core while cutting it into narrow slices that are perfect for pie and desserts or dehydrating. A release button helps you to easily remove your finished apple from the fork. This apple peeler/corer is made of sturdy aluminum and weighs four pounds. Progressive provides an extra blade with the tool and covers it under a five-year warranty. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works ok BUT...
I'm not sorry that I purchased it. It works, but I think that it could work better. When beginning to turn it, I find myself having to push on the blade to get a good peel going. The blade does skip here and there. I don't think the arm is heavy enough and doesn't press against the apple like it could. I find that it skips here and there and that I have to go back and repeel some times. I'll keep this one! Not too bad. A heck of a lot better than peeling by hand. Much faster too. easy to clean up.

3-0 out of 5 stars apple peeler, slicer & corer
I have had other kinds of peelers before but this one works wonderfully.I peeled a bushel of apples in just a couple of hours.Works GREAT!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great design but a pain to clean
The apple peeler and corer does what it says it does pretty well. However it has a couple of serious flaws, it is difficult to remove apple cores from the prongs, I cut my thumb badly trying to do this.More generally the design makes it very difficult to get clean and dry and, because it is made of steel, drying it well is essential. Despite my best efforts the central shaft on mine has rusted.

    Editorial Review

This swivel peeler was designed with your comfort in mind. Sporting an angled, ergonomic handle, the peeler will keep hands and wrists more comfortable during long potato-peeling stints. For safety, the handle is made of non-slip plastic for a secure grip and is coated with UV protection to prevent it from ever yellowing. The blade on this peeler is made of extra-hardened steel that stays sharp and is built to last. The dual blades are an optimum width apart, making peeling simple and efficient. The peeler even has a metal tip on its end to easily remove potato eyes without requiring a lot of force. This product is comfortable for either righties or lefties to use and is covered by Zyliss under a five-year warranty from the date of purchase. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Peeler
I have to say this is the most comfortable and smoothest peeler you can buy in my opinion, its design fits well in your hand and unlike other similar products this one really is supper smooth and sharp.
5-0 out of 5 stars Works for us lefty's
I have all of their products. They are all great!!! All are really sharp! ......And then there are things like their ladle's which pour right or left!

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, no reason to buy another
This peeler is so easy to use - it peels with minimum effort.I use it mainly for potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, and apples. The tip also works great to remove the eyes of the potato or to scoop out the cucumber seeds.

With two uses in one utensil, this tool is the ultimate for working with citrus. The head features several sharp holes for zesting lemons, oranges and more, while the channel knife lets you create elegant garnishes and decorations with little effort. And when you're through, its large, oversize handle opening makes hanging easy. The Good Grips line features durable, nonslip flexible handles on every product. Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably and softly, the pressure-absorbing processed rubber handle puts less tension on the hands, while providing an outstanding grip. Made from the same material as dishwasher gaskets are constructed of, the handles are slip-proof, wet or dry, as well as dishwasher-safe. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Zesting
This Zester works fantastic! It gives zest you can see, smell and taste much better than other zesters I have used.

3-0 out of 5 stars A useful tool, just not necessarily for zesting
This is a nice little tool, as far as making strips of citrus zest; BUT there are a lot of recipes that call for a finer zest, which is hard to get out of this zester.I've found that a microplane grater works a lot better at getting a fine zest, and lets you get at LOT more of the zest off the lemon. With the OXO Zester, you only get a few strips at a time, and it gets tricky to go back between the strips to get all the zest off.I gave the OXO three stars because I don't think it's the optimal tool for what its main function is supposed to be.
4-0 out of 5 stars A very useul tool!
I used this zester for the first time today and was pleased with how it works. It takes little effort to use and works quickly.I noticed that I could use long heavy strokes to produce long thick strands of zest, and short light strokes to make thinner shorter strands. It's nice to be able to control the size of the zest this way.

5-0 out of 5 stars A true multitasker
This thing is great! It's up for scraping the seeds out of a cuke, coring apples, and even (!) making pretty little melon balls. It's easy to clean, it's grippy, and it comes with two different sizes on the ends - just one scoop didn't cut it for OXO. They went above and beyond the call of duty. If only the people who set the price on this thing would do the same... Though it's somewhat pricey for the small gadget it is, I think it's worth the money just in the amount of time it saves me scooping the seeds out of the middle of apples. And plums and other small stone fruit as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars I could write a memoir about me and melon ballers.
Absolutely the best melon baller you're going to find short of the electro/mechanical Tobina Deluxe...Save yourself the money, this one is a winner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy & Comfortable
I previously had a "Brand X" melon baller which, with occasional use, developed a cracked handle which I had to tape to keep together and later, the scoop end broke off! I broke down and got the best... the OXO is really sturdy and, as with all their products, comfortable to use. I can tell I'll get years of use out of it without it falling to pieces like my previous one. It just goes to show, even with a product that only gets occasional use, it doesn't pay to get a cheap one! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

For peeling a Granny Smith apple or a fruit with a tougher skin, the swivel peeler by Oxo is an essential tool. Its rotating, flexible stainless steel blades contour to almost any surface. It's got an oversize handle opening for hanging storage, and its built-in potato eye remover lets you carve out blemishes without digging. The blade size and excellent handle make the paring knife equally essential. With a sharp, tapered stainless-steel blade, it's designed for smaller jobs, slicing through fruits and paring vegetables with ease. The Good Grips line features durable, nonslip flexible handles on every product. 3-0 out of 5 stars Peeler/Parer Set
I love the peeler, which is why I bought it to begin with, but the parer rusted the first time I put it in the dishwasher. The peeler did not. Although if you know anything about knives then you know that you aren't supposed wash them in the dishwasher. But I have done it for years, and it's almost like a test to see how great they actually are. They are both very sharp.

5-0 out of 5 stars comfortably functional
The handles on both the items make them very comfortable to use; but one does have to get used to them. Initially, they seem a little bulky in the hand, but after some time, that is what makes them so comfortable. The peeler, especially, is way better than the other (routine) peelers I've had and it has a niftly tip that works well on potato-eyes. I use them almost everyday, and both have stayed sharp and without problems in the few weeks I've had them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for smaller hands
After getting the paring knife as a wedding present, I fell in love with oxo's handles. For mother's day last year, I purchased this set for my mother and my mother-in-law.Both have small hands and greatly appreciated their ease of use. ... Read more
