The French press is considered by many coffee aficionados to be the best way to make a perfect cup of coffee because no paper filter absorbs and removes the essence of the flavor. Bodum’s Kenya line features the same elegant glass carafe as its original Chambord press, but handsomely employs heat-resistant, lighweight polypropylene for the lid and one-piece handle and cradle. To make coffee with a French press, remove the plunger/top ensemble, add coarse ground coffee to the glass carafe, add hot (but not boiling) water, stir with a non-metal spoon, and position the top and plunger in place. Allow the coffee to brew for about four minutes before slowing pushing down on the plunger. Pushing too hard or too quickly may cause hot liquid to squirt out. The flat lid features two spout covers: one slotted for pouring, and one solid for heat and aroma retention. When holding the handle, hands are thoughtfully protected from the hot glass by a vertical bar of the heat-resistant cradle. To clean, simply scoop out the used grounds and pop the entire unit into the dishwasher. A plastic coffee measuring spoon is included. Beware: Carafe will Slip Out & Shatter
The French Press method makes the best coffee; HOWEVER I know this because I've used another model that has lasted years. I bought this one in order to make a larger amount of coffee, but after my first use, the carafe slipped out of the holder and shattered in my sink. Choose another model/brand.

Perfect Coffee every time for those who discriminate!
This is a superior press scaled for just one or two people.To reduce any drifting grounds I cut circular disks from papertowels slightly larger than the press(they are more absorbant than filter disks and work better), then place one these under the press.The sides of the disk are about 1/4" to 1/2" larger than the press itself.Once the coffee has penetrated the sides of the disk it becomes easier to press down.ALL the coffee can be poured into a carafe and will be good to the absolute last drop!
Pleased with Purchase and Love having FRESH Coffee
We were introduced to french press coffee making overseas a couple of months ago, and love how fresh the coffee tastes when prepared in a press. This particular Bodum model is good because the carafe part is glass, but the rest is plastic, so it does not get too hot to the touch.I also bought a Krups electric kettle to assist in the coffee making, and have been very pleased with both products.Although it is an alleged "8-cup coffee press", a full press only makes 2-3 sized coffee MUGS, or 3-4 teacup sized servings tops.

It won't break but it also won't pour...
I was excited at the prospect of a Lexan press, as the usual French Press beakers break so easily.I was also thrilled to find such a high yield pot.On those two fronts, the Lexan Java Press is a solid 5 stars.However,the design of the plunger is really bad.Because, i think, Lexan will get scratched if a traditional all metal plunger were used, the Lexan Java Press's outer ring of the plunger is plastic, so as not to scratch the pot.It does not at all trap all the grounds below the plunger.Now, that wouldn't be so bad, but to make up for the grit in the pressed coffee, they've added another small screen just at the pour spout.So many grounds end up in the coffee that, when you try to pour the stuff, the grounds block the pour spout screen.Still, I like it's durability and volume, so I just pour in the water and don't use the plunger at all.When it's time to pour coffee, I pour it straight out of the pot, into and through a fine seive, into the cup.It's actually easier than using the plunger and a lot faster than a drip filter. ... Great Coffee Press!
I have a small Bodum which helped get me hooked on the French Press style of brewing. I bought this one because I have a very large insulated mug, and the small Bodum only fills it a third of the way. This press does the trick. It is a pleasure to use and the coffee is great! The design is simple and not as flashy as some others but functional. Only one minor reservation, I wish the makers of French Presses (All of them) would use thicker pyrex, I wouldn't mind the extra weight. Worthless for brewing coffee in any form
I owned three of these in a row, and the sad truth is that they simply cannot stand up to the temperatures associated with near boiling water (coffee should be brewed at about 205 degrees F.). One cracked while pouring the water in (No, I didn't pre-warm it, as that is something my Bodum press has never required), the secondand third cracked when the coffee was poured out. The glass cannot withstand the rapid temperature changes. Please get a Bodum, you'll get more than one use out of it. ... Read more

Excellent Coffee, easy, and cheap.
Very easy to use and is very well made. Thought it seems low-tech this press makes coffee superior to the automatic drip or filter coffee makers with all the electronic gizmos. The only negatives is it takes a little more effort to clean after you brew but it is worth the tiny bit of extra effort.
