Pinzon's 8-cup (32-ounce) French press makes coffee brewing easy. Simply measure out one rounded tablespoon of coarsely ground coffee per 4-ounce cup, pour in hot water, wait about 4 minutes, and slowly press down the stainless-steel plunger. Enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee with rich, complex flavor because the beans' oils have been retained. Elegantly designed with a mirror-finish frame and lid, this French press is great for brewing guests' coffee right at the table. The glass carafe features a spout for easy pouring. Clean all parts by hand with mild detergent and warm water. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Flavor!
I haven't tried coffee in it yet, but did try Irish Breakfast Tea, it was really, really good!It brought out the flavor of the tea much better than brewing in a coffee maker, and much STRONGER.One reviewer wrote about that, and they were correct, it will have you buzzing around if you aren't used to it!The only drawback I have experienced is I don't have a dishwasher and it's a little time-consuming to get the grounds completely out of the filter.Other than that, I'm very pleased with the quality/taste this coffee press provides!Would highly recommend!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good (large) French Press
I have a 3-cup french press (which btw is only about 1 'American' cup), but I needed something bigger when I have to make more than my cup of coffee in the morning. Despite its bargain price, this coffee press is very good at what it's supposed to do. The filter fits tighter than my 3-cup press, so no coffee grinds pass through the gap (b/w its filter and the glass) even when you press down hard. I first thought it looked flimsy and cheap, but so far this has seen more use at my home than my old coffee press.

5-0 out of 5 stars Proud owner
After buying a single cup coffee press I was ready to step up and this was the perfect buy.I love the quality of the press. The mesh is fine enough on the press to hold the coffee grounds in place. The press slides down smoothly and there is a great seal on the lid to keep it from falling off when you pour the coffee into your cup.I thought I could not live without my coffee maker - now the only other coffee I drink is a Mocha from Starbucks. ... Bodum's French press makes it easy: coffee, water, wait, enjoy. 5-0 out of 5 stars Wow this is really GREAT for loose tea too!
Not a big coffee drinker but do love all sorts of loose teas! This product was recommended to me from another tea drinker & it really works fabulous!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the hype!
Okay, to some the idea of using a French press coffee maker is a little too precious, bordering on snobbishness. I used to be in that boatuntil a few hours ago.Tonight on a whim, I purchased this Bodum French press. Now I should warn you readers that it is generally NOT a good idea to test out your shiny new french press when you are getting home at 10:30pm on a Monday after spending way too much money at Target when you just ran in to get "dog food".I write this review so heavily caffienated that I will probably stay up until dawn tonight re-organizing my closets or alphabetizing my CD collection or doing some other useless task.Despite being a dailycoffee drinker (of the muddy variety the office's Bunn machine churns out), one cup from the french press has knocked me into the stratosphere, and that alone is worth giving this product 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars 8 cups (4 USA) is actually 3 mugs
That's what I have to say.I measured with a tape measure and took the time on bodum site to compare dimensions.I always get 3 full MUGS - for me that's your usualy 3 finger hold greasy spoon style mug.So, This 4 cup thing must be those little coffee cups that grandma uses.

By using high-quality 18/10 stainless steel for this French press, Frieling has smartly sidestepped the problem of breakable glass carafes. At the same time, the pot is beautiful, sleek, and sturdy, with a mirror finish and a self-contained design. Plus, with no filters or power cords to mess with, you can brew and serve right at the table. The full-length handle is both comfortable and stable, while the all-steel mesh plunger mechanism can be used with coarse coffee grounds or loose tea leaves. Frieling's double-wall construction keeps hot beverages hot and cold ones cold if you use the pitcher by itself for milk or juice. All parts disassemble to wash by hand or go in the dishwasher. The press holds 33 ounces and stands 9 inches high. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome french press
I broke my glass Bodum French Press 4 weeks after buying it. So,I ordered this stainless steel Frieling French Press. WOW! Beautiful, feels nice to hold. GREAT tight press. delicious coffee. Durable.
5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Container - Fabulous Coffee
Our Daughter-in-Law bought this for us as a gift from Amazon. The carafe is beautiful, made from 18/10 stainless steel, feels good in the hand because while heavy and insulated, the handle is perfectly balanced for easy use when pouring.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
This French Press is very well made, and worth the extra money it costs.I only see two minor flaws:1. The screen doesn't come completely clean just buy spraying it off - some coffee grinds stay behind.2. If you aren't careful and press too hard I suppose hot water could come spraying out. However, anyone that has used a French Press before will know how to press it slowly and properly and won't have that problem. ... Editorial Review

Serious coffee lovers agree that the best way to brew everyone's favorite stimulant is also the simplest and quickest. The French press method prevents scorching of the beans, and because there's no filter involved, all of the flavorful oils stay in your drink. Simply measure out one rounded tablespoon of coarse ground per 4-ounce cup, pour very hot (not boiling) water over it, let the contents brew for at least 4 minutes, then slowly depress the plunger. The result is one of the richest cups of java you'll ever taste. This attractively designed Bodum press is the perfect size for one person's morning fix. Because the carafe is glass, it's best to use a little care when handling the press in the sink--but if it should break, don't panic: Bodum offers replacement parts. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars French Press Coffee -- Why take the time.
For ideal coffee using a French press is the best method. It takes a bit more time and effort, but results in much better tasting coffee. This is because due to the lower temperatures and the lack of a paper filter the coffee oils stay in tact. This adds a lot of flavor to the coffee that is lost otherwise.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nice coffee press for work
I bought this neat coffee press to replace my trips to the nasty workstation coffee pot.Rumors around work say the workstation coffee scrubber and pot hasn't been changed or cleaned very well in 7 years!

Most coffee roasters and tea buyers recommend using a coffee or tea press to enjoy the beverages at their best, but the devices have typically offered one major disadvantage--the brewed coffee or tea cooled quickly within the glass carafe. The Bodum Columbia thermal press overcomes this shortcoming with its double-walled stainless-steel construction, which insulates hot coffee or tea to keep it warm for up to two hours. The end result is a rich, flavorful beverage with perfectly extracted flavors and aromas.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Looking Insulated French Press with Lots of Capacity.
We used the Nissan Insulated French Press for years until we dropped and broke the press mechanism. The Nissan was a nice press, but we needed something with more capacity. The Nissan is 1 L & this Bodum is 1.5 L. Great! Also, the Bodum is visually a very elegant looking unit, whereas the Nissan is somewhat "industrial" looking i.e. "ugly"! The press mechanism on the Bodum is more refined, and there are much less coffee grinds and residue in the bottom of the coffee cup. So far we really like this press and it makes great coffee!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great press/carafe combo
No more having my brew cool before I am able to drink it. The seal is fairly tight, rarely to grounds get past it. If you've never had pressed coffee you're missing a real treat.
5-0 out of 5 stars We love it!
We've used French Press coffee pots for years - the glass ones with plastic lids.I kept breaking the glass beaker. And, I love my coffee extremely hot, which resulted in a lot of needlessly thrown away coffee that was lukewarm. And along came this new stainless steel themal 12-cup (well, it's more like 6 cups for us, as we use big mugs) coffee press . . .well, I am a picky person, when it comes to preparing and drinking coffee, and I absolutely adore this thing!I love the fact that it goes into the dishwasher with no worries about breakage.I love that it keeps your coffee warm for a pretty darn long time (even hot enough for me!).I love how it looks, how it cleans up, how the plunger goes down smoothly and rarely leaves coffee grains in your cup.If I've got to find something to complain about, I will mention two things - but they hardly count because once you're aware of them, it's not a big deal to avoid their effects:1.it's a good idea to make sure the arrow on the lid is pointing away from the pouring spout when the pot is sitting, as this keeps the heat in better; but do remember to turn the lid so the arrow is pointing at the pouring spout before trying to pour, or it will eventually backpour down the side of the pot.(but it's pretty easy to train yourself to do this)and 2. the lid gets pretty hot, so watch those tender fingers while turning the lid.I use the fingers with guitar calluses on them to do this, but you can always use a potholder or just do it real quick.I haven't found it to be so hot that it actually injures ya' anyway.OK, anyway.Love it; love it; love it.I do not regret spending the money. We've had this about a month now. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great for 1 person
Such a better cup of coffee than the drip type. It's great for 2 cups serving. And the best thing is it doesn't take up anyspace on my counter. It is just as convenient as an automatic. Why doesn't everyone use these?!

3-0 out of 5 stars 5 oz. cups
Boden MUST be talking about 5 oz cups when they say this is a 4 cups press. It barely fills my 20 oz mug and then it's kinda over flowing.I love this french press, it makes great coffee, I just wish I had more information to have bought a 6 cup press instead.

Pros: Great tasting coffee, easy to use, very stylish.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting coffee
This system makes the best iced coffee I ever had.People that have trouble with draining the coffee or other problems are doing it wrong.I'm not the shapest tool in the shed, but I was able to figure the Toddy system out.My Bunn that I paid over a hundred dollars for is down in the basement collecting dust and waiting for a part due to a recall. The Toddy system is easy, convient, safe and makes great coffee.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best thing since sliced bread
Easy to use, makes delicious coffee and is always available to make a single cup or more. How do you beat that?

5-0 out of 5 stars 'Zen' Coffeemaker
Sometimes it's the simplest things that work the best, taste the best, etc. This 'unplugged' coffee maker may look cheap, but it's held up through 3 moves, 1 other (traditional) coffee maker's replacement, and it's still going. I should buy stock in the company. If you like coffee, but don't like the jitters, get this toddy maker. If you're looking for a gift for the chef who has everything, get this toddy maker for him/her. GREAT for desserts.

Editorial Review

A virtually unbreakable polycarbonate carafe makes this coffee press sturdy enough for picnics or camping. To use a French press, grounds are placed in the bottom of the (preheated with hot water, if possible) carafe, then near-boiling water added. The lid with its stainless-steel rod and filter is pushed down after a few minutes of steeping, and the coffee is ready to pour. Many coffee aficionados swear by the French press method. The Hugo features a second mesh screen in the lid that removes even more of the coffee grounds sediment typically left behind by most coffee presses.Read more

I read here that quite a few people have had problems with the screens and/or the plunger part breaking. I haven't had that problem with mine at all, but I'm careful not to grind my coffee too fine and I press very carefully.

By doing away with filters and cones, this 23-ounce French press from Frieling makes rich, delicious coffee in a self-contained, non-electric design. The press also smartly sidesteps the problem of breakable glass carafes with its high-quality 18/10 stainless-steel construction. At once beautiful, sleek, and sturdy, the mirror-finish piece has a satisfying weight, a comfortable full-length handle, and an all-steel mesh plunger mechanism ideal for coarse coffee grounds or loose tea leaves. Frieling's double-wall construction keeps hot beverages hot and cold ones cold if you use the pitcher by itself for milk or juice. Standing 8-5/8 inches high, the press disassembles completely for washing by hand or running through the dishwasher. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, but Does Not Keep Coffee Hot
I'm so disappointed with this french press. I preheat the press with hot water, and brew the coffee for 5 minutes. The Bodum stainless steel press I have then pours coffee that is piping hot. I bought the Frieling press for my office because I thought it was so great looking. I'm just baffled by the fact that the coffee is lukewarm after 5 minutes. It seems that a lot of air can escape from the spout. The Bodum lid is designed to block air from escaping through the spout. The Frieling lid is not. No one else has mentioned this problem in their review, so I'm confused. It seems like a huge design flaw.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best That You Can Buy
I now own three of these outstanding coffee presses - all three sizes - and in my opinion, it is by far and away the best coffee press on the market today. In addition to it's pure functionality the eye-catching design makes it a great addition to any kitchen or for that matter, the galley of my boat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Coffeehouse owner loves this french press
I love this french press. When at home and away from our commercial espresso machine and brewers, we have tried a variety of brewing methods and usually opt for the french press. We have owned quite a few french presses but none have been so well constructed and handsome as this. It is worth the extra bucks; we plan to purchase more for gifts this Christmas. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Chambord is Bodum’s original coffee press design, which the company began to mass produce in 1982 after acquiring a small factory in Normandy where craftspeople made these presses by hand. Bodum takes great care to instill the same quality in craftsmanship, and the result, according to coffee purists, is a brewing machine that produces a taste and aroma superior to any electric coffeemaker. The secret is that the grounds are able to steep in boiling water for about 4 minutes before they are pressed with the plunger, producing a richer, full-bodied flavor. The glass carafe on this Chambord model holds a maximum of 48 ounces or 12 cups of brewed coffee or tea, making it a useful size for entertaining or for all-day-long drinkers. The chrome-plated brass frame and lid and stainless-steel plunger are durable and will hold up to years of brewing. For easy cleaning, the carafe and all its parts go right into the dishwasher. Replacement parts are available from the manufacturer. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Coffee Pot!
A friend introduced me to French Press, so I had to share with my husband. I've always been a tea drinker, but this is an awesome way to drink coffee! We brew a whole pot, 12 cups, and will drink iced coffee for the rest of the day. The design is simple, easy to clean, and beautiful to just sit on the counter. I just wish I could figure out a better way to deal with the coffee grounds! They go straight into the garden - right from the pot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why not?
--If you have tried french press before and are looking for a good one, there is no reason to look elsewhere.I have not tried any other models but Bodum has a great reputation and it works as advertised.I have had mine a year and never broken anything and it works great. My understanding is that the only other real option is with a thermal carafe that keeps the coffee hot longer but you don't want this as far as I understand. The reason is that in a french press, the coffee (if not poured right away) keeps on getting extracted as it sits there. There should be nothing needed to keep warm if you are serving right away.

5-0 out of 5 stars watch out - the sizes are confusing!
I really like my Bodum coffee presses - I have two sizes, and was delighted to see I could replace the beaker separately. But watch out if you order a replacement beaker. My small one holds 3 of what I think are ordinary cups, so I ordered the 3 cup replacement beaker by mistake. Looks like my small one is actually an 8 cup unit, and my big one (which hold 5 of my cups) is a 12 cup unit. There is no info on the Bodum itself of how big it is, so if you don't remember, it takes some guesswork to figure out whether you have a "3", "8", or "12" cup Bodum.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift for the coffee/loose tea lover on your list!
I've purchased a total of 5 of these mugs now (different colors). They're well-constructed and attractive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I've put 3 aside for Christmas gift giving. I think they're uniquely perfect for that person who seems to have everything, without spending a fortune to achieve that "Wow!" factor.

Great invention! I drink mostly loose teas, gave up coffee some time ago. Because of work and being "Mom", I spend a lot of time in my car.I have tried several travel presses and most of them don't trap all of the leaves under the press, especially leaves that unroll as they steep. This is the most practical travel mug that I've ever seen and the storage compartment is absolutely great for carrying extra loose tea for those all day meetings.I ordered one for my desk and one for those long car trips. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Dunno if it's microwaveable, but I microwaved it anyway
I picked up one of these from a trash pile in college (American college students tend to throw away a lot of perfectly good stuff at the end of the year) and had it for two years until I accidentally whacked it against a wall. During that time it performed quite well. I used to take out the metal plunger and heat water in the microwave in the glass/plastic body. The plastic seemed to hold up all right.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of my most used kitchen items
First off, make sure you notice in the writing above that while this is called a 3 cup press, it does not make 3 US cups.It makes 1.5 US cups. This is a sip or two more than will fit in most of my mugs and hence is exactly the amount of coffee I want since my husband can't stand coffee. If you were wanting this to make a mug each for two people though, you won't be happy with this little guy and need to look at the bigger models.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great for that quick Cup o'Joe

Editorial Review

A virtually unbreakable polycarbonate carafe makes this coffee press sturdy enough for picnics, camping, or dorm use.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Microwaveable
Product was fine except that it isn't microwaveable. At the time of purchase it claimed to be microwaveable. The handle has a screw in it. I purchased it specifically for use in a microwave.

2-0 out of 5 stars Smaller than advertised
I knew that this was going to be a small press, but I thought I could trust the description that claims it makes 12oz of coffee. This is not true.If you put the plunger and a few tablespoons of grounds in the pitcher, you'd be lucky to get 8oz of coffee.I returned it and will be buying a larger one. That said, the construction seemed good although the lid spins too easily between open and closed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo!
After using a French press with a glass jar at home, I came across this product which I obtained from Handy House (Beaver Creek Shop). As I use this on my sailboat, the fact that is an unbreakable product is key. The design is better than my home one as it has a filter on the pouring side, which keeps any grinds in the press (out of my cup).
