i actually have the bosch water heater and it's what i used when i would prepare coffee by french press.my coffee habits changed when my sister got me the bosch espresso machine!now, i can officially claim to be a true java junkie!no more trips to starbucks because i can make way better coffe than they could thanks to this modern convenience!the free illy sample was nice too, though i've always used illy for my coffee.it's easy to operate and clean up is a breeze!the only disappointment was, when i looked at the bottom, it said it was made in mexico!gwah!i thought bosch was german?! ... Nice Machine with excellent CREMA!
I had a krups machine a year ago and it started to leak right after the warrenty expired.Then I bought this machine; the crema is way better and the espresso is fine.Water leaked from the fliter when I didn't lock it up, but it worked fine once got handy.I didn't find Auto Espresso Flow very useful though.
Don't be misled by Briel rep. write-ins
Briel's espresso machines are complete junk. I had the same problems the others reviewers state. After reading the complaints about the service center and how you pay shipping both ways for warranty repairs, I have decided to junk it and count it as a lesson learned

Not worth the $$$$
This machine's instructions are awful. There is almost no explanation of anything. A 7 year old could write a better manual. After starting the machine is is noisy and vibrates like a tin can when operating. The machine is also impossible to adjust for the exact cup size. It also leaks water after it stops brewing, now I know why the drip pan can hold so much. It leaks more with the ESE pods than regular grinds. The flavor is good but is is just not worth the money. Hmmm No crema??? You obviously don't know much about coffee, you can't get crema with ANY stovetop espresso percolator.Only a coffee machine gets crema...

Sylish but insanely overpriced
This machine has internal components on a par with a Gaggia or Silvia, though its build quality is not as good as either, nor is its heat or steaming abilities.It looks great, however, next to your $300 art-deco napkin holder.
2 year life
We bought this beautiful machine after many other "cheaper ones". But within 6 months, the wand started leaking (have to leave a towel to soak up the excess water when not steaming). The temp. gauge never read the correct temp. so I emailed CS and was informed that the gauge is for asthetic use only---and not accurate. (It's for novelty use only). A few weeks later, the temp. gauge stopped working completely.2 years later; the seams are rusting....and when you release the steam valve now, there is no steam pushed out (no pressure to heat the milk).... We clean and maintain it 2x a month....but do make ALOT of espresso (3-4 day).

Steamed......
For $1500 there is way too much plastic on this machine. The plastic latch which opens the front door is paper thin and very small. It will be broken by the first person who reaches for it with any less than subtle pressure. The machine is gorgeous to look at. It espresso production is flawless and very flexible. The machine turns off if the water hopper is low. That should save the pump in the event of low/no water situation. The dregs hopper shows full way before it is. That is a minor annoyance. My only real complaint is the lack of power from the steam wand. I know this is not a commercial machine but it takes some time before the milk is steamed to the right temperature/consistency. For fully automated home use, this machine is pretty good. For $1500 it should be very good. ... Read more

KitchenAid Espresso Maker - Very Disappointed
We bought one of these machines over a year ago (and they're not cheap).The machine worked well for the first few months.We used to change the water by removing the water container, emptying and filling up again.Over time, this caused the black pipe at the back to work loose.We contacted KitchenAid who said this had not happened before with anyone else (which I was surprised about). We eventually got a replacement when KitchenAid and their courier company got their act together.
Don't buy appliances from Amazon!!!!!!
Goodbye to buying on Amazon, atleast appliances or electronics! Buy from anyone with a better policy for higher cost items. Amazon is using their wonderful 30 day return policy [may be fine for books] but not for an $800 espresso machine! Within 6 months, the Kitchenaid "on" button broke - not a great sign for quality. Though Kitchenaid will exchange it, we don't see this as Kitchenaid's best product. Most stores would credit you, but not Amazon. We've spent alot of money with these guys, but not now.

Great unit with problems but an excellent warranty.
Purchase our proline espresso maker over a year ago and since then we have received three new ones. There have been many problems but KITCHENAID has been awesome. Read the warranty and they stand behind it. We have also purchased proline burr grinder and blender and soon waffle maker.We've not had any problems with any of our other proline equipment.

easy, tasty espresso!
This is a countertop friendly, cordless espresso maker that makes great coffee when you use an espresso grind for the coffee.The auto shut-off makes it foolproof, and it is made of stainless steel, so no off tastes.I think it is great!

Leaks water all over the place!&*%#$!!!!!!
I have been anxious for such a device for a long time.I want hot strong espresso made in my office and not a bulky countertop model.The first time ever I used this, Iused 'untamped' Illy espresso. Once hot the pressure started shooting hot water out the base of the bottom pot. (It was not the joining gasket area.)

Excellent espresso machine
I've had a Gaggia Classic in my office for quite some time. It pulls excellent espresso shots, but the steam wand is cheap-looking, ineffective, and cumbersome to clean. The machine itself is not quite an award-winning beauty item, either.
good, small machine
I purchased this machine used, so I can't really properly comment on whether or not it's worth buying at full price. The are several features that make this machine stand out from others. First, while this is a hefty machine, it has a small footprint, which for me and my small apartment is perfect. It fits in a corner of my kitchen counter and is light enough for me to scoot it out when I need it. Second, you can make individual lattes fairly quickly on this machine because filling the boiler with cold water immediately after steaming brings the machine to brewing temperature in a matter of seconds. So, the time need to preheat, steam, fill the boiler, and brew is less than five minutes. Third, cleanup is also very easy despite not having a backflush feature. After pulling a shot, set the machine back to steaming and the pressure from steaming will push out the excess water in the portafilter, giving you a dry puck to knock cleanly. I don't know if this is an intended feature, but it works for me.
Perhaps overpriced but a great home espresso machine
When paired with an espresso capable grinder (like the Gaggia MDF) and freshly roasted beans, this machine is an excellent choice as a stylish home espresso machine, producing superb espresso and good milk foaming.A plus is that the machine is designed (in what may be a unique design) to allow you to froth milk first and then brew the espresso without burning the espresso:this can be useful if you like reducing dishes, since you can foam the milk directly in a cappa or latte cup, and then brew directly into that cup.(This produces a cool visual effect in the cup, and it preserves hot temperatures, crucial to taste.)

Sumatra is an excellent choice if you are looking for a good tasting dark coffee with lots of flavor. I prefer dark roasts though i have tried most of the starbucks flavor , mild, smooth and dark , they are all good except i prefer the dark roasts like french and winterblend. Sumatra would probably be my second choice. It is full of flavor and it has somewhat of a french taste to it except more earthy. Great choice if you are looking for a diffrent dark blend to try.
