Not for the lazy
The only reason I deny this ultra-sexy machine a 5th star is that I realize it takes a touch of madness or obsession to really prefer the Europiccola to an easier-to-use semi-automatic machine. But if you're the type who enjoys getting caught up in the irrational rituals of coffee, the Pavoni might be for you. Capable of making to-die-for espresso and lattes, as long as you're willing to take the time and learn its quirks (not to mention the quirks of espresso itself).
Great design, well engineered.
We had a Briel pump driven machine before the pavoni, which lasted not even 2 years and cost a bit over �100.
Horrible Service and Warranty Issues
Manual machines, without question,produce the best cup of espresso.I have owned them in the past, and recently purchased a brand new La Pavoni.The machine arrived broken.I could not even get one cup of espresso.I called thinking that La Pavoni would have me send back the machine and replace it. WRONG.I was told that this was not allowed, and the only option I had was contact one of there US Service Agents and arrange to have the machine sent to them for repair. Even then they indicated that the repair expense would be my responsibility.

Simple. Consistent. Tasty.Bialetti.
My wife and I have been spending a pretty penny at the local coffee shop, so I began looking for inexpensive home alternatives. Most of the coffee snobs claim you have to purchase a $200+ machine and $150+ grinder to have a decent cup of espresso. I turned instead to the frugal Italians. They did invent the stuff, afterall. My Bialetti Moka Express coffee pot came this afternoon. I was a little concerned that a $20 pot might not meet the high standards of the gourmet beverages wifey and I have become accustomed to. I was wrong. The brew made by this ingenious little pot is a little weaker than "pumped" espresso and lacks the foamy cap (crema) that all the snobs rave about, but mixed with some hot, frothed milk and a bit of chocolate syrup I couldn't tell the difference between Bialetti and Seattle's Best.

makes good cappuccinos/lattes
used to work in coffee shops. Would be nice if there were separate water compartments for expresso and steaming, but what do you want for the price? little inconvenient but i can make drinks comparable to what i get at the coffee shop for lots less money and without leaving the house. really pleased with it so far. doesn't take up too much counter space either, which was definitely a consideration for my studio apt.

Excellent Value - Best Machine Possible for this Price
This low-cost, high-value espresso maker makes espresso as good or better than most restaurants. I should note that it can be purchased at Walmart for $29.99 I make perfect espresso daily and my girlfriend has mastered latte's and cappuccino's. Her friends are running out to buy this machine in droves after sampling her concoctions. We were delighted by how well it steams and makes froth. It takes a couple tries to get it all right, but can be mastered with little effort. To have enough steam for frothing, add water to the top of the metal band on the pot and switch from brew function to steam function as the coffee reaches the bottom of the band, this will allow ample steam for anything.

Absolutely bloody appalling
I got this coffeemaker for free, and it was not worth what I paid for it.The coffeemaker takes about eight years to brew coffee, the steaming wand doesn't, and as other people have reported, it leaks coffee everywhere, staining my counters.At first I thought that I was not getting the pot seated right, but even after careful checking, I get a big coffee puddle more often than not.The espresso clip's handle broke after three uses.I'm junking it and buying a real coffeemaker.

Absolutely Terrible
This has got to be the worst coffee machine we have ever had. It is nearly impossible to pour the coffee out of the pot without it spilling all down the side and onto your counter (or hand, whatever) Also, when the coffee brews, it spits and sputters all over the place. We have papertowels underneath our machine and it is staining our countertops.
Not the great buy that it seems
My problem is different from the other reviewers. Maybe I'm not the espresso taste connosseuir(sp?) that the other reviewers are, but I was perfectly happy with the machine.... when it worked.

Amazon price deceptive
Saw a demo of this at a local Sur la Table and very impressed. The coffee it makes is outstanding. I plan to buy one later this year.
When it works well, it's great, but customer service stinks!
My office has had this machine for almost a year, and while it does make decent (not the best) coffee, my major complaint would be the(lack of) customer service!
