1-0 out of 5 stars Good while it lasted
Suited my needs for reasonable coffee and milk steamer for about 8 months. Cheapie knob for switching from coffee to steamer is a bugger. Steam is now leaking inside somewhere in steamer mode causing serious heating of the top of the unit, nasty noises, and fear of explosion. I descale it every month so I don't think I mistreated it. Did get daily use and was only $[...] but I think it should still last more than 8 months.

4-0 out of 5 stars Latte Lover
I had a very expensive espresso maker that sprung a leak in less than a year, so I went the cheap route.
1-0 out of 5 stars Buy this if you want to burn your coffee (or cash)
This espresso machine burns coffee grind because it takes too long for pressurized water to flow through the grind. I am not sure if my particular machine is defective but it takes about 2-3 minutes for 50ml of water to flow through. The result - just one pure shot of burnt espresso! This is not even the case of what you get is what you paid for. I don't think anyone would pay $[...] something bucks for making burnt espresso. Don't waste your cash. Try something a little bit more expensive, and hopefully it will be better than this one. To be fair, the frother did seem to work fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars works great
After reading the reviews, I decided to try these, since I wasn't too thrilled with either the cost or quality of the senseo pods. After getting my three sets in the mail, I went to my grocery store, bought the Starbucks Sumatra whole beans, ground them to expresso grind, and went to try the ecopads. I followed the instructions, put the ecopad in the machine (perfect fit), hit the 8oz button, and wa - la! I would challenge anyone to tell the difference between the stuff you pay $3.50 a cup for at Starbucks. I'm definately hooked. I can't see how other reviewers have had problems with these. They are easy to fill, and fit perfectly in the machine. They are a bit messy to clean up, but its a fair trade off for the awesome coffee and the cost savings over the pods or actually going to starbucks. I would estimate I will get 50-60 cups out of a $6 store bought bag of coffee. Basically, one heaping teaspoon fills up the ecopad perfectly. Also I would estimate getting hundreds of uses out of each ecopad - they seem very durable. I am looking forward to trying different coffee's with these. Well worth the tiny investment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly
If you know how to grind your own beans (and adjust that grind) it'll work great!Easy to fill and clean if you don't mind putting forth a minimum of effort. If you want a quick hassle-free cup of coffee buy the regular gross senseo pods, if you want to take 2 minutes to brew an excellent cup of your favorite coffee, buy the ecopad.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but don't lose that lid!
When I tried the Senseo with the original Douwe Egberts medium roast coffee I was hit by how harsh and acidic it was, so I decided to try it with the EcoPads and the same coffee I usually use with the Toddy cold-brew system. The coffee made this way tasted slightly weak, oddly, and you can only make a single 4 oz cup at a time when using the EcoPad because of the way it fits in the holder. However, it was enough for me to realize that the main problem was the Douwe Egberts coffee, not the Senseo process.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing for the money
I wanted to enter the world of espresso at home without spending a bundle.I figured if I used it a lot, I'd upgrade to a better maker later.I decided on this model after reading reviews here and elsewhere.I've had this model for about a month now and I love it.It is simple to use and simple to clean and makes good espresso.
5-0 out of 5 stars For the price it perfoms wonderfully
I have had this machine now for about 7.5 months and it is just beginning to show signs of breakdown BUT it still functions adequately and with the proper amount of finagling produces almost the same espresso it made when I first purchased the machine. But let me preface the following review with the fact that I ran this machine ragged.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the money
Ok, it's not the swankest machine on the market - but I got it for my birthday and I have to admit it does a good job. I worked in a coffee shop as a barista all the way through college and have used some beautiful Italian machines. This isn't one of those - but it makes a good shot of espresso from both the ground coffee and the pod with a decent crema (make sure to tamp it down really well). To all of those out there who are complaining about the temp, remember this is a pump driven machine not a boiler so if you want it hotter, hit the froth button for a few moments to increase the temp, but remember that can also scorch the coffee.

4-0 out of 5 stars love it!
This little item has brought great joy to my mornings.I had been using a little bialetti moka pot for my morning coffee and adding milk from the fridge. The Mukka Express is a bit more effort, but is more than worth it.As other reviewers have revealed, it is not foolproof (the reason for the 4 star review). There have been 2 times (in over 30 uses) when it leaked.Unfortunately, when this occurs, you have to start over (much hassle). There have also been a few times when it has not produced much foam (still good, though. I think this has to do with how well I've cleaned it). But, on the whole, the end-product is just as promised - a good strong latte with a lot of foam.Because there's milk involved, it does take a bit longer to clean than the regular moka pot. But, it is not too much trouble for the joy of a good cappuccino at my own kitchen table.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's wonderful. Clean well for happiness.
The mukka Express rocks. But there are some small tips:
1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
I've followed the instructions carefully each time. About 1 time out of 10, I have a decent cup of cappuccino. The rest of the time, I have spills (despitetightening the pieces carefully) or just steamed milk. It's a pain to clean up as well. I recommend saving your money and buying a better quality product. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars $100 Down the Krupper
I bought this on a friend's recommendation that Krups makes good products. This was apparently not one of them. It will make espresso - sometimes. The power is on, the indicator is lit, but nothing happens. Sometimes if I fiddle with it for 10-15 minutes, it will mysteriously come on. This morning I didn't have time for that so I gently placed it in the trash and went to a coffee shop. For $100 I could have gone to that coffee shop 25 times, which is more than I got out of this piece.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fine coffee and espresso maker
We replaced a Krups espresso machine and seperate coffee maker with this machine. Both had served us well, and so far, this one has as well.It is a rather large unit, deep, and sticks out quite far on the counter. That is my only, minor, complaint.Coffee and espresso both are great with the machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great coffemaker for the price
I love this coffeemaker. It is quiet while it brews and takes only a few minutes to make an entire pot.I don't use the cappacino portion too often, but I like having only one machine on my counter instead of a coffemaker AND a cappacino machine. This is a very nice product.I would highly recommend it. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars It Is What It Is
I bought mine several months ago and use it exclusively for espresso. That I would give it 4 stars. As for customer service, all they have voice mail telling you they will call you back but they never do.For that I give them one star.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like having a coffe shop in your kitchen
I first would like to say that if you are the occasional esspresso drinker, then this machine is to costly to use every once in a while go with a cheaper brand. Now for the rest of you that are die hard esspresso drinkers this is the machine for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars love this machine
I had a very old machine (a Salton), then tried a couple other briels and finally found this machine. It works excellent.I drink mostly lattes and have no problems with the brewing or the frothing. The machine is a beauty and the drinks taste better than the coffee houses I just visited in Paris. The controls are simple too and the new models do take the pods. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The best!
I bought this machine based on the reviews and I am so glad I did. This is a wonderful espresso machine.Easy to use, makes excellent coffee and foam.I find that to my liking it works best if the grind is fine, the coffee dial is set far to the left (small demi tasse) and the strength dial is at max (to right). Again I love this machine and highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars High quality unit, affordable price, great espresso
This was the best price point I could find for a super-automatic espresso maker. It was also among the most highly rated by other customers. The unit has been great!I've had it for 4 months. My friends are always amazed by the quality of the espresso and they all want one of these machines too, now.
4-0 out of 5 stars Almost What I Wanted
I took "Greg's" advice (see review above) and bought it at Bed, Bath & Beyond and saved 20%. Great tip, Greg. The machine is great and great looking and worked as advertised. Except, I like Lattes made with steamed milk and just "a little" bit of foam. This unit does not really have a steam wand, it has a "frother" attachment which produces lots and lots of foam. I used less milk and I used more milk but I could not get it right--the frother with its foam just overtook the milk pitcher. The problem is you cannot take off the frother and use a steam wand because under the frother is a plastic tube that is held in place by (you guessed it) the frother. If you like really large quantities of foam this will do it for you. So, went back to BBB and bought the Saeco Vspresso machine. Retails for $999 but (thanks again Greg) with my coupon I bought it for $800. It has all the features of the Delonghi plus you can remove the frother and the steam wand is available to use alone. It also has a stainless steel boiler and my wife loves this part--it is more compact on the counterthan the Delonghi. Again, this machine worked as advertised and would please most people.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best expresso Pot
Bought this to replace my at least 10 year old Bialetti aluminum pot, and I am not disappointed. It makes the best expresso ever and is easy to clean. I bought this along with the Aerolatte "to go" milk frother, and have been making great cappuccinos with skim milk. It is also very pretty to look at; I love this pot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Espresso
This is a beautiful little espresso maker that makes great coffee. It's just that simple.Everything works well, is constructed well, easy to clean, and comes with a really funny badly translated manual (don't worry, the instructions are still clear, just funny).

5-0 out of 5 stars Best on the Market
I've tried the aluminum Bialetti Espresso Maker and although it works well, this one is superior. Worth the splurge--it's very well constructed, the flavor of the espresso is pure, and the elegant redesign of the espresso maker draws a lot of compliments. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars doesn't produce as rich as hand packed
First of all, it is silly to buy food in large quantity before you taste it. I got a package of 12 pods from my local starbucks for 4.95. I used it with my Saeco Via Veneto Espresso machine, it is on the lower end but nontheless a serious machine and could produce excellent espresso. However, the pod contains less than half what i usually pack and produce far inferior espresso with much less cream and aroma. And for the same money, you can buy four or five times more espresso grind. If you do not like the mess, get a tamper that fits the size of your machine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pour out the grounds???
I wish I had read some of these reviews before I bought both the caff and decaff pods, along with my Mr. Coffee Espresso maker. My first 2 tries yielded a liquid that looked like very weak tea. It's messy to cup open the pods and get the grounds into the little basket. So I dumped them all into a jar.
5-0 out of 5 stars Espresso Shot vs. a Coffee Cup
It is truly amazing that people don't know the difference between espresso pods and coffee pods. Espresso pods are used for making a "shot" of espresso and coffee pods will make a "single cup" of coffee, big difference. These are ESPRESSO PODS and should be used in a ESPRESSO MACHINE, not a coffee machine. Secondly, the "standard" pod for espresso is called "ESE" or easy serving espresso and that is what these pods are made for. Anyone that bought them and tried them in a pod coffee machine like a Black & Decker or Senseo found out that they don't work. Nobody should cut them open unless they want to pay 5x more for espresso or fine ground coffee. Get yourself a ESE espresso machine and do it the right way. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars gaggia espresso machine
have had the machine two months or so. it does make reasonably good coffee but steamer is difficult to work and does not do a good job. doesn't frothe well and is too long for cups.

4-0 out of 5 stars Causes people to levitate into the kitchen
Last December, I bought this Gaggia 35008 Carezza Espresso Machine after reading a bit about various home espresso makers and realizing I could never afford one of the sleek all metal models rugged enough to withstand the rigors of deep space travel.
3-0 out of 5 stars not as good as expected
OK, I don't want to be overly negative. And I HATE buying anything that receives less than 4 stars. So I bought this Gaggia for my hubby. It's supposed to come with this rubber nipple that makes a crema. My problems are that a. the nipple is too big for the place where you put the coffee grounds (sorry I don't know technical terms, i'm no pro here, fellas). So I can't even fit the coffee into the machine with that rubber nipple in it.We called Gaggia and they were like, yeah, there is a problem with those rubber pieces.Don't even use it.But that's the point of buying this expensive machine, isn't it?The beautiful and delicious crema. My husband compares the quality of this machine, without the crema nipple with that of Starbucks coffee. Which he thinks is mediocre. But, you know, he would buy at least one regular coffee at starbucks a day, i'd say.So added up, this machine actually saves us money before the year is out.At least it gives me a few years to save up for something that I really expected.Sad really. But if it tastes like Starbucks, that's not too bad.I like starbucks, actually.I like a really stiff cup of coffee, they don't make that. But what they do make, I like as well. It's too late to return it, unfortunately, or I would in a heartbeat. If you like the Buck, though, buy it.And if you manage to get the right nipple, I believe all of your wildest coffee dreams will come true. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased
We purchased this machine a couple months ago after our previous one, a Krupps, gave out suddenly (and explosively). The Capresso is a little more compact than the Krupps, but still makes a great cup of espresso. We aren't 'purists', so issues like the lack of crema that some here are complaining about do not concern us. We just like a hot fresh cup of espresso with some cream and milk.
2-0 out of 5 stars Average results - burned flavor
I am a big fan of espresso and espresso drinks but needed to save money so I bought this to make it at home. Making espresso is easy enough if you follow the instructions (I didn't watch the video). The frother even works well. The problem I had was with the flavor. The manual suggests making two or four shots of espresso at a time, but when making four shots the espresso was badly burned by the time it was finished brewing. I had best results making just over one shot at a time, but the flavor was still burned and flat. In the end, I used the machine for a couple months but eventually put it away and went back to my regular drip coffee maker.

4-0 out of 5 stars Money Saver!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good espresso machine for the price.
Do you love Starbucks espresso drinks? Then this machine is not for you. You will be perfectly happy with a little Krups that will only set you back $40. Don't get me wrong. They are decent machines. My last machine was a little steam-powered Krups. It lasted well over 10 years. But it makes espresso that tastes like Starbucks espresso, slightly bitter and burnt. This machine is well worth the money to upgrade your espresso experience. It's like switching to your local independent coffee shop! (Here's a little plug for my favorites: Do you live in LA? You have to experience The Bishop, on Grand, between 8th and 9th. Best coffee I've had since I left the Napa Valley. If you are ever in Napa or St. Helena, you must visit the Napa Valley Roasting Company. Heck, if you are in San Francisco, it's still worth the trip. Compare these places to Starbucks, and you'll see what espresso is really supposed to taste like!)
5-0 out of 5 stars Best machine for the price!
The title says it all. You can not beat this machine for the price its at. I've had other machines in the < $200 price range, and they don't compare. Its easy to use, its got a sexy design that compliments a contemporary kitchen, but most off all, it makes a great espresso. Each cup has a thick amount of crema that remains after you stir the espresso. The two boilers are great; the espresso never comes out burnt. Its easy to clean, as all the parts rinse clean, or can be taken apart fast and easy for a heavy duty clean.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Choice!Love it!
I shopped around a long time for machines in this price range.I wanted something small and stylish - but most importantly had to work well. The EC460 is a little larger than some other machines, but it is solid and makes a great espresso. The 1 ltr container can be refilled on the fly.Froth is plentiful, though wand only moves side to side (a problem of most espresso machines). In shot, you can't go wrong with this one.Solid, fast, reliable, stylish, and oh yeah...makes a great cuppa. ... Editorial Review

Made in Italy, this 1,250-watt machine eliminates the fuss of creating espresso and espresso drinks at home by automating the entire process. With the push of a button, the machine grinds coffee beans without burning them, tamps the ground coffee into the brew group, brews a cup of espresso, and then dumps the spent grounds into a container--all in about 30 seconds. For creating a cappuccino or latte, there's a hot water/steam wand with a milk-frothing attachment, and there's only a 10-second delay from brewing to steaming. A button selects one or two cups, a knob adjusts cup size up to 10 ounces. For safety, the machine shuts off if the grinder runs out of beans or the water tank is empty (control-panel lights indicate specific problems).Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good coffee but bad workmanship
The machine is easy to use and makes great espresso ... when it's working!Mine broke down within the first year.I spent $80 dollars to fix it the first time, but it broke down again after another two months of use (water wouldn't heat up).It would cost me another $200 to fix it.I'm now looking for a more reliable machine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny paid!
Bottom line...worth the $500.Bought it here for $540 and got $25 off which covered the $30.00/3 year full replacement warranty from Amazon.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great value for your money
I bought this machine not from Amazon but from another place, but this machine paid for itself within months. No more frustrations at waiting in line at one of the over priced chain coffee shops and getting a bad drink at the end of the wait.

5-0 out of 5 stars After searching and searching....
I ended up with this machine and boy am I glad that I did.I spent hours and hours reading descriptions and reviews and picked this machine mainly because it had a high pressure bar and because it uses both pods and regular coffee. The first time my husband and I made an espresso and a latte with this machine they came out "perfect", and that was our first time ever making one.We used Illy Espresso Pods and I must say, that now, we'd rather use our Espresso Machine that go to the local coffee shop. The Illy pods make great tasting espresso, much better than the Starbucks brand that we also purchased, We also tried using regular Maxwell House Coffee purchased in the regular grind and it worked perfectly also to brew an espresso. The machine heats very quickly to brew an espresso, though the only draw back is, sometimes when frothing milk you may begin to froth only to have the ready light go off and you have to stop frothing and wait for it to come back on (few seconds)because the machine wasn't hot enough for the steam when the light initially came on.. I also have some problems with it leaking extra espresso/water after I am done brewing, and it also leaks water from the frothing wand after I am done frothing, and I do clean it regularly, though if you just put a paper towel down, or don't mind wiping it up real quick, it really isn't a big deal, the great espresso it makes, more than makes up for that. I highly recommend this machine, I am a novice user and even I was able to make a great cup :) So for that I give it a 5

5-0 out of 5 stars A real pump machine
At around $200 at several online retailers this machine is about asgreat a value as you can find in a semi-automatic espresso machine. It has about the same internal parts and portafilter as much more expensive Gaggia machines, but a plastic rather than metal exterior. The steam wand produces a lot of steam, but is not really a pro style. It froths milk very well for a Cappuccino, but getting the even fine micro-bubbles for a Latte is a bit of a trick.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine at a Great price.
My wife and I purchased this machine for my mother-in-law over FIVE year's ago and she uses it every DAY!So far she has only had to replace seals and some hoses last year.I decided to purchase an Espresso machine and did some serious looking and ended up with this machine. Not realizing that we had purchased the same machine for my mother-in-law.Well, they have changed a few things: the frother is now plastic instead of an all metal tube, and the Portafilter spouts are plastic where as they use to be metal, but the price is still reasonable and it makes a great cup of Espresso! My only complaint is that now those bargin Espresso stand wont do, I take one taste and almost yell at the Bartista, that I can make a better one at HOME!!!If you do purchase this machine, make sure you also purchase a Burr grinder! NOT a Blade grinder.Yes, pay the extra money on the Burr grinder and you wont be disappointed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bialetti Moka Easy--Works Great for Office or Home
I have always liked to have good coffee at work, replacing the sorry beans that come with our office's coffee service with the good stuff, grinding it myself, etc. for the best results--but a trip to Italy absolutely ruined me.I could never go back to American-style coffee again. As soon as I got back to the States, I bought a large Bialetti Moka pot for use on my ceramic range at home, but what to do about work? Then I found this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't beat it for the money!
I must start with saying that this is my second XP4050 in one month, the first suffering from two problems. One problem was the same that others have mentioned here, when water stops coming out of the filter head and instead just dumps into the drip tray from an apparent overflow-type valve in the bottom of the machine. This only happened once, corrected itself, and never happened again. The second problem was that I noticed a small amount of water occasionally leaking from the buttons on the front and the stainless portion on the front of the machine would also get VERY hot.I believe these were one problem, possibly the brewing portion leaking.
2-0 out of 5 stars Loud, rattling, rripping, But decent Espresso ...
I love my espresso and used a krups 15 bar pump machine for the last 7 years. Love that machine and so bought the latest Krups, xp4050.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent crema
I purchased this a week ago and highly recommend this espresso machine.Easy to use and clean, but most important - the espresso (I use Starbuck's and have them grind it for me)is fantastic and has a crema just like you get in Italy! The milk steamer/foamer is too much trouble for me and I just heat milk and do a cafe con leche - easier and less cleaning.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brikka 2-Cup
I agree with Daigo and others that the Brikka (I only have the 2-cup model) makes a really nice café that, while technically not espresso, is very, very tasty. And the 2-cup model DOES produce crema.
1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Well, I guess I'm in the minority here, but following to the letter its instructions (for the 4 cup Brikka), the coffee always seems to boil in the top chamber, no matter how low a flame I use or how quickly I get it off the stove when coffee starts coming out the top.If you like strong, burnt tasting coffee, this is the machine for you.
5-0 out of 5 stars Far better than normal moka pot, or cheap espresso machine!
