Editorial Review

The SaladShooter makes a fabulous gift for those who like big, healthy salads loaded with veggies, homemade pizza with plenty of grated cheese, desserts topped with nuts or chocolate--find yourself in that portrait somewhere? Amazingly fast, the SaladShooter literally shoots out prepared food directly into a salad bowl or in neat piles for an assemble-your-own taco party. Featuring sharp stainless-steel cutting blades, the two interchangeable cones, one for shredding and one for slicing, each slip in and out of the main chute and are secured in place with a twist-lock ring. That’s all--no complicated parts to assemble. Food should be cut into blocks or lengths that fit into the food chamber, and a chart in the user guide specifies which cone to use for which foods. To operate, one hand grips the handle of the shooter and flips on the power switch, while the other hand presses down on the food guide to produce a steady output of shredded or sliced food. There’s no need to wash the parts in between processing different kinds of food, so shredded cheese, lettuce, carrots, and more are ready one after the other. All parts except the motor base can be washed in the dishwasher. The SaladShooter is not intended for grinding coffee or processing cranberries, tomatoes, or meats. Measuring 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inches with a five-foot cord, the SaladShooter is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. Read more

Features

  • Quickly slices or shreds large amounts of vegetables, fruits and cheese
  • One ingredient after another can be added without cleaning in-between
  • Shoots food right into a salad bowl, onto a pizza, or into soup
  • Interchangeable slicing and shredding cones easily attach
  • Dishwasher-safe (excluding motor base); 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inche

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Kitchen Gadget Ever
I'm so happy I accidentally stumbled across this when shopping here. It's really as good as everyone is saying here. It's small enough to tuck away nicely, and cleanup is a snap!
5-0 out of 5 stars replacement
The purchase of this salad shooter replaces our 7 year old shooter. The old one stopped working due to a worn out switch. I was informed by Presto that these items are not repairable. They do not carry parts to repair them. So now my wife has a new shooter that she uses daily and that saves her a lot of time. And now I don't mind helping her with grating the veges as the shooter takes all of the work out of it. It's also very easy to clean. Any one who cooks a lot should have one of these

5-0 out of 5 stars A great timesaver!

1-0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart CEK-40 Electric Knife -- needs to be modified
I bought this knife and wanted to use it to carve up a roasted pig for a luau party I was having. The knife was a little under powered, it seemed to struggle when cutting larger slices. The pig was quite large (60 lbs) and after about 20 minutes of continuous use the knife became quite warm and stopped working. After a few choice explectives I handed it to my husband. Lucky for me my husband is a mechanical engineer who owns his own business which includes a metal working machine shop. Later that week he took it apart and discovered that there is a very fragile plastic Nylon gear that is part of the main drive. The plastic teeth on the gear were stripped and that is why the knife stopped working. He told me he did a few quick gear calculations (he is a smart fellow) and determined that the plastic nylon gear teeth strength was way underpowered for the design. He was able to make a duplicate gear out of stainless steel in his machine shop and assembled the new metal gear into the knife replacing the junk plastic one. Since that time the knife has worked flawless. I have since carved all sorts of roasts, pork, turkeys and no matter how long or hard the carving is, even if I hit a bone, it never stopped working. The Cuisinart engineers should be embarrased, this is such an easy fix to make (all they need to do is change out the Plastic nylon gear for a metal one, maybe cost them an extra 10 cents?), it is like they never did any research and developement on this product because I know if they tried to cut anything other then bread the dam knife would stop working after about 10 minutes of use. I would say that all the good reviews here are from people slicing bread, if you want to slice meat and use the knife for more then 10 minutes you will need to find an engineer and a machine shop to replace the plastic gear, after that it works great.

No special expertise is required to cut professional-looking slices, thick or thin, from roasts, ham, turkey, and bread with the powerful 100-watt electric knife in this carving set. Just grasp the handle, pull the trigger, draw the knife in a straight line, and let the two serrated blades, which saw back and forth at high speed, do the work. It's effortless and safe. 2-0 out of 5 stars deli slicer
Not very happy with this product. I am still debating on weather or not to return it. I found it very difficult trying to remove the blade and almost broke the the plastic trying to loosen it. I finally got a butter knife and ended up scratching the plastic trying to get it off to clean. Anything I have tried to slice always seems to bunch up near the bottom of the blade. I don't feel that it slices very even either. On a positive note once the blade is removed it is easy clean up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great deal for the price
I bought 2 of these items, one for myself and one for my brother. He makes a lot of jerky and said it works great. You just need to partially freeze the meat to get good control.I have sliced homemade bread (very thin and very neat), cheese and meat.Everything came out great.Clean-up takes a little time, but that will happen with any machine.I looked at a lot of deli slicers and compared features and prices. This was by far the best deal.I think you will find it useful in your kitchen too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Sturdy, Well Built, wonderful slicer for the $$$
As a deli worker myself, I have always wanted one that could slice whatever I want, without problems. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent bread slicer
Prior to getting the slicer, I had been using an electric knife and a bread slicing guide to slice homemade bread. This was always less than satisfactory, but I had not been able to find an electric bread slicer that didn't cost thousands of dollars, until just the other day, an internet search turned up the Chef's Choice 632 which could be used to slice bread.I ordered it and the package came today.I couldn't wait to try it out and sure enough, it exceeded my wildest dreams for smoothly slicing my homemade bread. For me, it is worth the cost just for this alone, but I am also looking forward to using it to slice meats for sandwiches. All in all, a very reasonably priced slicer for home use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chef's Choice 632 Slicer
Positive:Great! Great! Great!I spent weeks going over reviews and comments about electric food slicers in preparation for replacing one that I had been using for about 25 years. It was heavy, clunky and would slide around the counter when used.I only took it out to use when nothing else would work. But it did slice. After reading all that I could in the reviews, I decided that the Model 632 seemed the best fit for my use.Cooking is a hobby and not a profession so I needed nothing more than a good quality, home slicer.I decided to keep the new slicer on the counter for a while so I could try it out.I think it has found a permanent home.I find that I am using it almost every day for bread, meat, cheese and vegetables. The operation is smooth and with the caliper dial, very repeatable. It is stable and does not "walk" on the counter when slicing. It appears to be well manufactured and durable.Several reviewers pointed to the on/off and lock switches locations as being a problem.I find just the opposite to be true.Their location is both logical and easy to use.Though I don't use it often, I found that the little extra that I paid for the tilt table was worth the cost.Overall, it has met and/or exceeded every expectation that I had prior to purchase.
5-0 out of 5 stars Chef's Choice 632 Food Slicer
The performance of our food slicer is exceeding our expectations. It slices items like hard salami super thin without difficulty. It even works in making Beef Carpaccio with the standard blade. It had been on my wish list for years but I was afraid it would be a flimsy and dangerous tool, but the design of the carriage and the stability of the machine made my initial fears go away. The VariTilt is worth the extra price because the slices fall away from the blade instantly. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Works very well
Relatively easy to clean.
5-0 out of 5 stars What an improvement
This slicer is much better than the plastic version I had before. It can cut meats in very thin slices and also has enough power to cut them half an inch thick. I used to keep my old electric slicer in a drawer and only use it when I thought it was worth the trouble of dissassembling it to wash it. This one has been sitting out on the kitchen counter ever since I bought it a month ago, and I'm using it more frequently because it is easier to clean.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great. No Problems.
We were given another brand for Christmas, and while we learned to enjoy having a home kitchen slicer, the other model had too many problems. It ended up as yard sale. This model slices perfectly, even making super thin cuts, is easy to operate, and is reasonably easy to clean."On" button can be locked in the "On" position, freeing both hands to do other things. (Hey, I'm smart enough to keep my fingers away from the turning blade.) I am very pleased with it, and would instantly recommend it to anyone looking for a light duty home slicer. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars best thing since sliced cheese
After lookingover all the slicers, reviews, prices, we decided on this slicer, first one came with a broken part. Sent it back got a new one, it works great. Slices everything, bread, cheese, ham you name it. It doesn't like things too hard or too soft, either breaks whatever it is or pulls the soft stuff into the blade cover. The catch tray is sort of an afterthought, it doesn't fit anywhere and slides around like it has no real home. To clean everything up is a snap, everything snaps out and is real easy to clean up, other slicers have screws to mess with, that's why we got this one, cheap enough to afford yet well built enough to use. Nice slicer.

This item is pretty much worthless. There were plenty of negative reviews, but I figured I could make it work and bought it anyway. My mistake.Save your money and don't buy it.Here are the problems:
4-0 out of 5 stars OK for the money but could be better
This slicer is pretty good. I use it for slicing half frozen london broil for jerky. It seems to work fine for that. I have even cut up tomatoes, onions and lettuce without any problems. The clean up is a little more than the average home user would expect. It is pretty easy for someone that has good common sense. The blade comes off with a flat blade screwdriver. It has a gear on the back and a gear inside the unit that drives it. Both are plastic which I do not like, but both are coated with a food grade grease. Yes.... I got this info from Waring, and yes, I was curious so I just called and asked. The blade is very sharp so be careful. I wiped out the inside of the unit and the back side of the blade with disinfecting wipes. Took all of 5 to 10 minutes. There wasn't much food inside the unit behind the blade anyways. The food carriage folds out to clean. Most of the cleaning is pretty simple.

I purchased this knife for cutting home-made bread in a slicing-guide. While I liked the look and feel of the knife, it lasted about three days - after that the blade would "wiggle", but wouldn't actually cut anything. Amazon happily took a return, and I will be looking for another electric knife to try. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good for home use
Good for time to time using. Not the easiest to clean.Cuts beef very thin for cheese steaks.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great slicer for home use
I'm not sure why all the other folks gave this food slicer a poor review. I sliced ham for sandwiches and roast for beef jerky and it works flawlessly. Yes this is not a comercial unit however for home use it works well. You do not need to press the food on to the blade so hard that it stops running. The tilt of the feed tray does this for you. The 10 minute run time should be plenty for most jobs so I don't see this as a problem, however that is what kept me at 4 stars for this slicer. ... Read more
