Waste of Money
I received the coffee maker as a gift. Good thing because I wouldn't wasted my $150.00 on it.It is sooooo loud!!!I have to cover my ears when the it grinds the beans.If you program it to start before you awake it will startle you to death!So, it's a waste for me because I only now use ground coffee to elimate the noise.Oh, also, it doesn't keep the coffee hot for long.

We asked for this as a gift about 3 years ago. We wanted the grinder and stainless thermal carafe. First the carafe did not pour correctly- it poured coffee down its side, onto the counter, anywhere but the cup. What a mess! We finally contacted the maker who did nicely replace the carafe, which then worked. Within a year the basket door started popping open during grinding, so the timer feature became useless. To avoid waking up to a mess of grinds and coffee anywhere but in the pot, my husband has been getting up to start the coffee every morning. He stands there staring at the basket door, pushing it back in as it pops out. He actually can't leave the kitchen during brewing since this is so unpredictable. How convenient is that! Still we get grinds in the coffee when it pops, no matter how fast he shoves it back in. There is also leaking somewhere- the base of the coffee maker fills up with coffee over time, which becomes thick and nasty, then leaks out onto the counter- another mess! Now the nub that the grinder blade sits on is stuck, so the grinder does not spin unless my husband takes off the blade and turns the nub with pliers to unstick it. Cuisinart has got to be joking- I can't believe a coffee maker costing $150 is this poorly designed, becoming virtually useless in 3 years. Before this we had a $20 Braun that lasted 20 years. Don't waste you money on this junk, it is truly not worth the constant messes and aggravation.

DeLonghi
Horrible... coffee doesn't taste that great... especially for the price... mine broke after 2 months... the lid of the carafe just snapped off... so the coffee won't drip into the pot

Pretty, but don't buy
We purchased one of these because it was pretty, and had some neat features.What we didn't realize was that pretty doesn't make good coffee.Within a few short months, the timer and automatic start went out--shortly after, the fancy swing arm broke, too.We mailed it back and waited for a new one.Sure enough, the timer on the new one pooped out after just a few weeks, and a year later the arm broke *again*.Emails to the company (nice ones!!) were not returned.When we finally got in touch with them we were told that although this is a common problem, since it had been over one year we were out of luck.This product simply costs too much to dispose of after a year, especally as our $20, 7 year old Mr. Coffee still works better than the DeLonghi.Do yourself a favor and don't buy it. ... Mine is great!
I am a hardcore coffee drinker, irritatingly demanding about the taste, the scent, the color, the strength of the brew - so the temperature of the water is key - and I LOVE my machine.

This thing is rubbish, customer service is non-existant. They just don't care. Mine broke after 4 months, I had to send it to their "approved" repair center. Poor performance
This brand was my 2nd Delonghi thermal carafe model in 2 months, after the first one broke after 5 weeks.This one worked wonderfully for about 4 weeks until one morning.I came in and found coffee all over the counter.I thought I had not aligned the pot properly or something.After another week of dealing with this, the electrical system shorted out due to all the coffee spills.This coffee maker made the best coffee and the carafe kept it hot all day.I don't know what happened and we couldn't get it resolved.We purchased a Cuisinart with a 3 yr warranty (not the one that grinds coffee) and has worked great for 6 weeks.

Worst quality coffee maker ever!
Clock started losing time the first day. Great tasting coffee. No problem with the carafe. Unit stopped working all together after about 10 days. over priced plastic leaking doesn't keep coffee hot JUNK
No stars is what this should be. Where do I start???The machine brews the coffee everywhere but into the caraffe.You will have coffee grinds and water all over your counter if you don't position the caraffe in the exact spot it needs to be (so forget setting the timer for the a.m. or you will be needing your mop).The so called thermal caraffe is junk.Plan on a refill 15 minutes after your first cup?You'll have to nuke it as the thermal caraffe does not keep coffee warm at all.You know those little holes that the coffee pours into during brewing...I think it lets the heat out as well.This is the WORST coffee machine I have ever owned and it is the most expensive one I have ever owned.I'm going back to the nine ninety nine specials.At least they work. ... I have owned the DGB-500 for 18-months which equates to well-over 500 pots of coffee.I purchased it as a replacement for the DGB-300 that I liked but was dissapointed at its durability.
