Editorial Review

Combining long-lasting brushed stainless steel with an elegant design, this 10-cup coffee maker features a double-wall vacuum-insulated thermal carafe and a flavor-sealing brew-through lid that keeps freshly brewed coffee hot for hours. The carafe's pour-and-lock system, as well as its open, soft touch, non-slip handle, allows for simple pouring with the push of a button. With the coffee maker's pause-and-serve feature, a cup can be poured mid-brew, and for convenience and safety, the unit is designed with an automatic shut-off feature. Its exclusive, filter basket-release button makes it simple to remove the basket and conveniently place it on the countertop for easy filling or cleaning. The coffee maker comes with a permanent gold-tone filter and an exclusive Brita water filter, which helps prevent scale build-up and reduces chlorine and other impurities for an improved coffee flavor. The unit is designed for household use only and features dishwasher-safe removable parts for easy clean up. The coffee maker measures 13 by 7-1/2 by 14-1/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Let down for a Braun believer!
First, a little history... My coffeemakers have been as follows:
2-0 out of 5 stars Shut-off time confusion in many reviews
First, there really is no problem at all with the 17 minute shutoff when it comes to keeping coffee hot. This model has no heater whatsoever in its base as some people apparently expect--the carafe is supposed to keep the coffee hot without an external heater. The 17 minute shutoff is strictly for added safety. Should the brewing thermostat be stuck in the "on" position after all the water had passed up into the basket, the shutoff would prevent that heater from melting down and causing a fire. Our unit brews completely within 5 minutes tops, so 17 minutes is more than adequate.
3-0 out of 5 stars An okay coffee maker, less than expected
The on button does not stay "on" for long. The coffee ends up getting cold in the thermal carafe, which really isn't that thermal.Looks nice, but doesn't function great. The taste of the coffee is okay though, when it is hot.The Brita filters that come with the coffee maker are, in my experience, hard to find.In ordering them on Amazon, there was a three week wait for them.Keep this in mind as the filters only have a two month lifespan. ... Editorial Review

Great for commuters, office professionals, and one-coffee-drinker households, this personal coffeemaker brews 15 ounces of coffee directly into a stainless-steel travel mug. The mug has a rubber handle for a safe grip and a lid to keep coffee hot. It's tapered to a 2-1/2-inch-diameter bottom, so it fits most vehicle cup holders. The coffeemaker itself is designed for an on-the-go coffee drinker. It has a permanent filter--no messy disposable paper filters required--and shuts off automatically after brewing. The mug, filter, filter basket, and mug lid are dishwasher-safe, and the coffeemaker can also be used to heat water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant foods like oatmeal and soup. Made of gleaming black plastic, it measures 9-3/4 inches high, 7 inches wide, and 6 inches deep, andcarries a one-year warranty against defects. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, but poor design. Grounds everywhere!
Purchased this item and and it worked fine for a few weeks. Then it started to overflow the grounds outside of the basket and into the water tank, water spreader and into the cup of coffee. Black and Decker replaced the coffee basket but that did not help, when I called them back they offered to send a "refurbished" replacement for $7.50 (the original price for the brand new unit was only $15) if I sent them back a piece of the power cord. And if the replacement unit does the same thing, then I would only have $22.50 in a non-useable unit. No thanks! I would suggest you stay away from this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars No waste and no extra expense!
I had a small 4 cup coffee maker for years but had to make 2 cups in it to taste right, even though I only drank one cup. I'd forget about the second unnecessary cup, and it would sit in the pot all day while I was at work & eventually stunk up the kitchen over time.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is the perfect one cup brewer.
Okay, I've spent hundreds of dollars on different coffee makers over the past two years... I've tried pod brewers (too strong), Mr. Coffee's (horrible taste), old fashioned percolaters and more.I wanted something fast, easy to use with a big enough cup for my morning coffee. This fits the bill perfectly. It comes with a 15 ounce travel mug with a tight lid that doesn't allow leaking when I'm at the computer. It's very easy to clean and after a few weeks of use I don't get any "silt" at the bottom of the cup as another reviewer complained. The permanent filter works for me and this brews a great cup of coffee from all types of grounds. ... Strikingly retro in brushed stainless-steel with black-plasticaccents, this 12-cup coffeemaker includes Cuisinart's best brewingtechnology and premium features for ease and flexibility. The digitalclock/timer is programmable for automatically brewing "wake-up" coffeeat a selected time and for turning off the warming plate up to fourhours in advance. 1-0 out of 5 stars AVOID THIS ONE
Only had this coffee maker ( second replacement) one year and it leaked from all over my counter. I asked for a replacement, crazy huh, and was told NO my time had run out. Well I am off on a hunt for a good coffee maker. THIS WAS NOT IT !! Do not waste your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Coffeemaker!
I had been using a Braun Flavorselect for several years, which was a great coffemaker but was showing its age.So when I started reading up on new models out there, feedback didn't seem so great for the new Brauns. So I found this one, loved the looks and the features, and the feedback seemed very positive.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.
I purchased this electric because of it's striking design, and programable delayed brewing. While it worked nicely for two years, just a month out of warranty it died! Overhaul, it was a good coffee maker but several design quirks made it difficult to use. The very small water reservior filling area is almost unusable. It's such a confined area, you end up spilling water all over the place. The second quirk is the NON- LIT very small digital display. Putting aside it only lasted two years, I decided to purchase another one. I ran out to one of local retailers and paid the $79 retail pop, used the new pot 3 days and the display died. It would shut off mid brew. At this point I returned it and bought a Mr Coffee 12 cup programable pot which I am very pleased with. In closing, the Cuisinart is too expensive, and doesn't over anything different than the 100s of other brands out there. ... Read more

Thanks to a system that quickly saturates ground coffee and a sealed carafe that minimizes evaporation, this 10-cup coffeemaker delivers full-flavored coffee that doesn't turn bitter while it's on the warming plate. The water-dispersal system ensures rapid, uniform saturation, and the plastic carafe has a spout that automatically opens for pouring and then shuts tightly, combining with the sealed lid to prevent evaporation. Other features include a coffee-flow shutoff if the carafe is removed for a quick pour during the brewing cycle; a swing-out filter basket that can be removed for cleaning; a flip-top lid on the water tank; and cord storage in the rear. This model comes clad in bright black plastic and carries a one-year warranty against defects. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fast, great cup of coffee
This is a simple, inexpensive coffee maker that makes excellent coffee. With all the usual nods to dribbles and fragility, I've had one for about 10 years and am about to order another one (nothing lasts forever these days).

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't hate this becaue it's cheap!
I had to overcome the fact that this is such a cheap coffee maker.I mean, I LOVE coffee therefore I can justify spending more on a coffee maker! But it's just SO not necessary!

Editorial Review

Wake up and smell the coffee--not just freshly brewed coffee but freshly ground coffee for full-bodied flavor. This coffeemaker does everything but serve a steaming cup on a silver tray. For the full experience, here's how it goes: pour water into reservoir (a window gauge shows the desired level up to 10 cups); spoon roasted coffee beans into permanent stainless-steel filter basket (no disposable filters needed); program mill to grind beans as you wish (seven settings, from fine to coarse); set clock to current time of day; program timer to begin automatic grinding and brewing process at the hour and minute you wish; sleep like a baby; savor coffee precisely as you like it when you awake. Ground coffee can be used instead of whole beans, and the whole coffee-making process can be initiated instantly without setting the timer. Other attributes: dripping ceases when the tempered-glass carafe is removed from the nonstick warming plate; shutting down is automatic after one hour to prevent damage; cord stores in the rear of the unit. This is a thoroughly modern coffeemaker, suitable for people who take coffee seriously but crave convenience. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price
I studied and researched for a long time on the grind and brew makers.Melitta was by far the least expensive and has really pretty good reviews from others.I have used this machine almost every day since last December (10 months now) and have never had one single problem. I use the timer mode and that is what I wake up to every morning.I am a light sleeper so I don't even set the alarm. I wake up when I hear the machine start to grind and wait a few minutes to get out of bed and go out to the kitchen and voila, it is done and fresh and wonderful. This is my first review I put on Amazon because I felt so strongly about this great machine.

3-0 out of 5 stars Weak Cold Coffee
I read all the reviews here on Amazon and thought this was the coffeemaker to buy. Most of all I wanted a coffeemaker that had a brewing tempature of 195 to 205. This is needed to fully extract all the oils and flavor from the bean. I was disappointed when the pot arrived and I brewed the first cup. The coffee was tepid at best. I knew the brewing temp was too low. I then checked the water coming out of the brewer and it was only 175 degrees. I have to microwave every cup to get hot enough to drink. The coffee is also very weak and I have to add extra beans to get any flavor. One trick I did find is to wait for the beans to grind and stop the brewer. Then I remove the brew basket and shake it to get all the grinds to go to the bottom of the basket. This seemed to make the coffee stronger. Oh well, back to the search for a hot coffeemaker

1-0 out of 5 stars Fundamental Design Flaw
I have been buying coffeemakers for a couple of decades and purchased a Melitta a few years ago.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Filters
Wow! Finally a product that does what it claims to do; it filters water! Incroyable!

4-0 out of 5 stars they work fine aslong as you prep them properly
I have always used the water filters and had no complaints.Just make sure you soak them for a few minutes and run a few cups of water (no coffee) through your coffee maker when you put a new one in.This will eliminate any stray charcoal in the first pot of coffee you brew with a new filter.

Charcoal Filters KCMCF essential for their coffee makers, you can easily use these Capresso 4440.90 3-pack Charcoal Water Filters instead; they're a perfect fit! 1-0 out of 5 stars Silicon the Rim is porous and is leaking
I just sad that a company of that stature, cannot "glue" together the carafe with the rim. It was leaking, had to disassembe it and spent $10 on silikon. No wonder we cannot compete with the Germans, Chinese, or even wood carvers...

4-0 out of 5 stars Tips for Senseo - non-invasive volume adjustment
We have this machine at work. We are using individually sealed pods from Target. The coffee is pretty good although nothing beats using fresh ground beans, which you are not going to get with the pods.

4-0 out of 5 stars good coffeemaker
This seems to be a very good coffeemaker, works well...coffee is tasty, pretty easy to program, and not as bulky as some.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than others but sure not like Krups of the past...
Not the easiest to use features but it makes great coffee.I actually miss the old Krups that had a little less automation but gave one more control. The old glass water level indicator has been replaced by a cheap plastic tube.It kept giving a false reading because of an air bubble inside and then broke off up at the top of the maker. No more air bubble but we have to keep it secured to the maker with Scotch tape. They just don't make things like they used to but the prices keep going up, don't they?Too bad because I think Krups is still nicer than some of the alternatives.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great system, but finding pods locally? Not so good
I bought the red Melitta One:One. I LOVED it for about 2 months. Then I started having trouble finding the pods. I bought this at Target, they quit selling the pods, then Linen and Things quit, no grocery store carries them, nothing local.
1-0 out of 5 stars What a POS...
Started having problems with hot water spraying out and burning those who stand in front. Contacted Melitta and they said they are aware of the issue and I have to "purchase" a pod holder adapter due to the pods are too thick. I questioned charging people for something they manufactured and were notified was defective, the dummy on the phone didn't have an answer. I do not recommend this product. Maybe a class action is due?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee!
This coffee system makes great coffee and good sense.Brew only what you want, tastes wonderful, and no wasted coffee.I would highly recommend both the coffee system and the seller. ... Read more

Employing a stainless-steel vacuum carafe instead of a warming plate, this coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups in under eight minutes for maximum flavor and aroma, and the carafe then keeps the coffee hot for several hours. The carafe prevents coffee from turning bitter, as it can when sitting on a warming plate, and doesn't have to remain with the machine for coffee to stay hot. The machine also offers a setting for brewing three to five cups without diluting the flavor or aroma. The unit's charcoal water filter removes up to 83 percent of the chlorine in tap water, and its electronic indicator shows when the water filter needs replacing. To reduce calcification, Capresso's stainless-steel ThermoBlock system prevents water from contacting aluminum inside the machine.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Complicated
I have owned this Coffeemaker for one week. I will admit it makes a great cup of coffee and the coffee does not get bitter. BUT, You must follow instructions completely and carefully, or you will have a very hot dangerous mess.
5-0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile self-indulgence
Let's get the price issue out of the way: in no way is this "worth" its price premium over other brands by virtue of its construction / materials. You are considering buying this for one reason only: coffee geek self-indulgence in search of the best possible home-brewed.

I have had this model for 6 weeks now and I have no complaints. The concept of not letting the coffee sit on a hot burner makes a lot of sense. The coffee is very hot and tastes great.I take a little more time to rinse the various parts than with previous units, but this is not a problem. The design that keeps the coffee hot allows for a small spout.Although it pours very well, it is slower and takes about 7-8 seconds to fill a big mug vs 2-3 seconds with a conventional model.Again this is not a problem for me.The coffee maker is nice looking and fits in well with our kitchen. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hot Shot water in less than a minute!
We Purchased the black model Hotshot to compliment our kitchen appliances. We paid a little more for the black model but it has a nice up-graded design. We are very satisfied and I would recommend the unit as it has a nice appeal and works like a champ.

5-0 out of 5 stars indispensable
I have had a Hot Shot for approximately 20 years.I hope I never find it impossible to purchase another.I keep a spare one in the pantry. They are sometimes very hard to purchase.Sunbeam direct does not sell them, so many times I have had to hunt a supplier.I have bought it many times for friends and relatives. I use it daily for one thing or another. Love it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst coffee maker ever
This thing takes an hour to brew a pot and makes the biggest mess ever. The coffee is weak and it is impossiable to clean.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Strong enough...
My husband and I are from Seattle, where we take our coffee very seriously. This product proved to be tempting with it's built in grinder/timer (the fresher the grind the better cup of coffee). However, we have found this feature to be sub-par, as the grind isn't adjustable, and it tends to be too large, therefore not emitting enough of the coffee flavor. We have just bypassed the whole grinding option, and gone back to grinding our own...and now the carafe just broke!Buy something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars THESE BREAK DOWN! NO WONDER THEY'RE REFURBISHED!
I have purchased and used 4 of these Cuisinart machines. Although I love the ability to have fresh ground coffee in the morning, they ARE difficult to clean--too many parts to take out, clean and put back every day.

With its programmable clock, this versatile coffeemaker not only has hot java waiting in the morning but can brew the coffee directly into either the 10-cup, glass-lined carafe, or one or both of the Thermos-brand travel mugs. Hamilton Beach makes the brewing process easy: a guide inside the water reservoir features mug symbols for the precise amount of water to add, and scalloped ridges on the coffeemaker base indicate exactly where to position the mugs. Care should be taken to ensure the coffeemaker is resting on a level surface, since a slight tilt could result in uneven distribution when both mugs are used simultaneously. A mug is placed under the brew basket with its lid screwed on tightly--a 360-degree ring of holes around the mug lid allows the coffee to enter during brewing. In addition, the holes enable the user to drink from any side, whether the handle is grasped by the left or right hand, a convenience that many car cup holders overlook.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars You can have mine!
This is the most disappointing coffeemaker I have ever owned! First off, I like my coffee a bit stronger, and it can barely accomodate the extra grounds.Second,it spits and sprews and steams like it's working for all it's worth. Third, the coffee never tastes good. It always has a bitter quality to it. The water runs in too fast I think. I called Hamilton Beach because all it did was steam one month after I bought it. They sent me a chemical to run through it; said it was probably clogged. This BTW was even after I ran the vinegar treatment through it 3 times in the first month. I have since retired this unit that cost me $45.00 new. I am using a little 4 cup Black & Decker that cost $12.00 and I am much happier. Anyone want my Hamilton Beach? I'll sell it cheap!

1-0 out of 5 stars Hamilton Beach Thermal Carafe coffee tastes bad
I recently purchaseda Hamilton Beach Thermal Carafe coffee maker. The coffee has a chemical aftertaste-it tastes like new plastic. In addition, the coffee is very weak- as it brews, it pours through the filter at one speed (rapid). I have seen other models make stronger coffee with a setting- made by the user - to control the rate of water flow through the filter.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beware of false "free shipping" claims
I just purchased this item on line and it showed "free shipping" and no tax. When I got my confirmation they are charging me $26.46 for shipping which was the highest price of anyone on line.I could have purchased it at Bed, Bath and Beyond with a 20% coupon on there price of $69.89.I have contacted Amazon and I am waiting to see how they handle this. This was very upsetting to see the confirmation email come in. I used the 1-click ordering system which does not show you a confirmation on screen but emails you one.I would avoid this option if I were you. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Called the BrewStation because there is no "pot" involved, this 12-cup countertop unit from Hamilton Beach keeps coffee hot and fresh until you’re ready for a cup. The enclosed brewing system only dispenses coffee when you depress the trigger with your mug--otherwise, the coffee stays inside, where it's kept hot and flavorful. Mid-brew dispensing makes the appliance handy for anybody in a hurry, and a translucent indicator shows you the liquid level at a glance. An internal warming heater and double-wall thermal insulation maintain brew temperature and freshness, so there’s no hot plate to scorch coffee or make it bitter. Operation is similar to other electric makers, and the entire brew tank removes for easy cleaning. A clock and timer let you set the coffeemaker in advance, and an automatic safety mechanism cuts power after two hours. Other helpful details include a power indicator light, a drip tray, and a water filter. The station measures 10 by 10-1/2 and needs 14 inches of under-the-cupboard clearance. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love, love , love it !
Ive had mine for about 3 yearsnow . I bought it when it first came out and its still in perfect working order. I just love it ! The coffee tastes great and the ease of use is incredible. I will never go back to a conventional coffee pot ....ever !

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tasting, Great Looking, Great Price
This is definitely not your conventional coffee maker. It is pretty to the eyes, but most of all, it tastes absolutely wonderful! The coffee served from this maker could easily be passed as a Starbucks brew.I was convinced to buy this when I sawand tasted it at a neighbor's house. She then said it was reasonably priced as well. After checking online at all the sites available, Amazon's of course beat all other prices. This truly is a great buy.Besides the marvelous taste that all comment on, it is the perfect alternative for coffee drinkers who are not morning people.Because it can be programmed to start brewing, shuts off after two hours, and you can get your coffee while it is still brewing, we morning rushers can still have our favorite coffee that gives that needed kick. The only complaint is the lack of clarity in the cleaning directions that came with the coffee maker. This was not impossible though and overcoming the confusing and inadequate technical writing is well worth it.

3-0 out of 5 stars A matter of taste...
This is a nice idea and a nice looking unit, but the taste of the brew is noticeably different from what I get from my old unit with a glass carafe. I think the glass is the key. This unit brews into a plastic resevoir, and it seems that the plastic imparts some taste to the coffee.

Editorial Review

Elegantly bold with a stainless-steel tank and black decor, this hot-water reservoir-style home brewer makes 10 cups of cafe-quality coffee in less than three minutes. The coffee brewer's specially designed stainless-steel inner tank, with its 800-watt heater and internal thermostat, keeps water at an ideal temperature for maximum flavor and fast brewing. A vacation switch is provided to completely shut off all electrical components when the unit is not being used for three or more days, but safety features, designed into the coffee brewer, make the daily use of this switch unnecessary. Whenever the brewer has been shut off or unplugged, the filled tank takes about 15 minutes to heat the water to the proper temperature before using. While coffee is being brewed, the newest water in the tank is heated to the proper temperature and held until needed so that hot water is always available. The unit's convenient sliding lid makes it easy to add water, while its custom spray head insures optimum coffee-flavor extraction. Brewed coffee is kept hot with the unit's durable, porcelain-coated, scratch-resistant decanter warmer, which is controlled by a lighted on/off switch. The only routine cleaning required is rinsing the brew funnel and decanter after each use and occasionally wiping the outside of the brewer with a damp cloth. For more thorough cleanings, the brew funnel and decanter are top-rack dishwasher safe. The coffee brewer measures 8-1/2 by 13-1/2 by 11-1/4 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty. 5-0 out of 5 stars A coffee maker's a coffee maker, right?
That's what I thought before I got the Bunn. The coffee actually tastes better and brews faster. I was concerend about having the heat unit on all the time that keeps the reserve hot, but we have brewed coffee almost every day for the 4 months we've had it. I would treat myself to a starbucks occasionally, but I don't want to anymore. I bought some vanilla syrup and enjoy my own coffee just as much. It brews super fast, so even running late I can get a cuppa for the road. This coffee maker rocks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Coffee Maker Ever..
Great tasting and hot coffee! It brews in 3 min. as advertised. No drips/leaks/when pouring from carafe and no sputering/escaping steam. We've had Krups and Braun brands that were good, but this one beats them by a mile. Amazon delivered quickly too!
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Coffee Maker
This is the best coffee maker we have ever purchased. It is fast, efficient, and makes a terrific cup of coffee. The only negative is, we wish it would make 12 cups, but we do comppensate by adding a little extra water after perculation so it will give about 11.After having some of these other named brands self destruct in less than a year, we have never regretted purchasing this one. ...

In closing, the Cuisinart is too expensive, and doesn't over anything different than the 100s of other brands out there. ... Read more

Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good coffee maker
A few weeks have gone by since I received the Zoji, and I'm very happy with it.While I can't tell if it makes 'better' coffee than other brands, it does make good, hot coffee; and the large carafe is a definite plus! The coffee stays hot for several hours.I have not had problems with small openings, tight seals, etc, as mentioned in some reviews. It's functional and handsome (as far as appliances go . . .)A good buy despite the somewhat steep price -

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this coffee maker!
I think this coffee maker is great.Other people have complained about the coffee going all over if the pot isn't lined up properly when you start the coffee. To me, it is just plain laziness if you can't LOOK at where it needs to be before brewing to insure the coffee doesn't end up on the counter.Sure, maybe you shouldn't HAVE to do that, but big deal, really. For the other features it offers, I am fine with having to pay attention to where the pot is positioned. Some people have also complained about the coffee not staying hot....WHAT?!?!No kidding, I brewed a pot of coffee at 2 pm one afternoon and the next morning, at about 10 am, the coffee was still warm! Not hot enough to drink, but after 20 hours it was still warm?I think that is pretty darned good!I also like the fact that the water spigot, (where the water goes into the grounds), has multiple holes for a shower like effect, which more thoroughly saturates the grounds. The only thing that I have a little problem with is the lid.Because of the shape of the lid, it can hurt your hand a bit when you have to twist it from being on really tight.Other than that, I love it!I also got a Swissgold filter basket to go with it, which I highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great purchase
I have had this coffee maker for a year and a half.Having lived in Japan for several years, I knew the brand and the quality.I think it makes great coffee and I am a COMPLETE coffee snob!I like to have a cup throughout the day, and I am always pleased at how warm it is at the end of the day.
