3-0 out of 5 stars Hey, you get what you pay for.
I shopped around quite a bit online for a cheap, but decent knife set.I have a mixed set of decent knives, but I wanted something that matched (call me vain). These DID fit the bill: they're cheap (I picked them up for around 80 during a Friday sale), sharp, and all match.
3-0 out of 5 stars Sharp but a little light
I was really excited about ordering these knives.I ordered them and they even arrived a couple days early. Thanks Amazon. However, I tore into the box and I have to say I am a little disappointed. The knives are sharp and the "vault" is pretty cool.My biggest complaint is that the knives feel very light. They do not have the heavy feel that other high end knives have. The handles on this set are hollow and "ping" if you accidently hit them on something.I have given three stars because they are sharp and I still think they are decent knives for the money.I just want to set the expectation of a light feel.If the weight of the knives is not an issue for you then I recommend you buy these knives. If you are like me and want to know you are holding something then I would keep looking for another set.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and highly recommended!
I like this cutlery set very much. So many friends asked me about them because they do get noticed. They are light and sharp, and the design is super. I think that they make a great contribution to a modern kitchen. Recommended. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars 420 is a terrible steel to use in a knife
You don't need to be a metallurist to know that steel in the 420 series is an extremely bad choice for most knives, unless it is a diver's knife or some other knife where resistance to corrosion is particularly important. All you need is some basic research (visit some metalsmithing sites, etc). I recently started work with Cutco Cutlery, and being a skeptic at heart, I did some extensive online homework independently before I was ready to accept Cutco's claim of making the world's finest.
5-0 out of 5 stars Totally amazing kinves for the price!!!!!!
These knives are amazing for the price. you can't beat it! they are sturdy, cut amazingly well, never need to be sharpened and i haven't had any problems with rust! I never put them in the dishwasher because i know that they would probably start to rust. its so easy just to hand wash them. Nothing will stick the to blade so its an easy rinse wipe and your done!! For anyone looking to buy great knives but don't want to spend a lot of dough, this is the buy for sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Knives Are Not Suppose To Go In a Dishwasher!
Obviously the people who gave a bad review on these knives all just lazily threw their knives into the dishwasher. GOOD QUALITY KNIVES SHOULDN'T BE THROWN IN A DISHWASHER. HAND WASH ONLY! I don't care if the label said it was dish washer safe. Don't always believe what you read. Dish washer safe is on alot of things, but sometimes the dish washer doesn't even do the best of jobs. ALL KNIVES ARE TO BE HAND WASHED! The dish washer will damage the blade. And you must have the common sense to think that anything sharp thrown into a dish washer is going to get thrown around and the tip banging against things will eventually become worn to the point where you can't even sharpen it the best anymore. Oh...and...STAINLESS STEEL MEANS SPOT-FREE WHEN IT DRIES AND SUCH, NOT RUST-FREE!!!!!! Some people shouldn't be given knives. ... Read more

My husband and I had the same cheap knife set for years, we bought this one recently and LOVE IT! The knives are sharp, aesthetically pleasing and sturdy. We would most definitely recommend, you can't beat these for the price. I would actually gladly have paid more, they are a bargain.

5-0 out of 5 stars At this price level, you can't beat these knives!
I just placed an order for these knives as my first real set.My parents own this same 13-piece set, and after *at least* eight years (I grew up with these knives) they've remained very sharp and shiny.Of course, I plan to update my review once I've received my own set and have put the knives to light daily use for a few months, but having had eight+ years of experience with them at home, I know they're top-knotch if you're not willing to pay at least $100.

A perfect gift for a home chef, Füri's Rachel Ray 3-piece knife set offers a handsome presentation as well as high-quality, functional tools. The set is named after the Food Network personality and includes both a 5-inch and a 7-inch Gusto Gripo East/West knife. With features of both a cook's knife and a vegetable chopper, the two make handy all-around tools that suit everyday kitchen jobs. The German stainless-steel alloy blades are crafted without seams and have been cut very thin then hardened and tempered, so the edges start out extremely sharp, maintain their razor sharpness longer, and hold up well for years of heavy use. For exceptional maneuverability, scallops along the blades help the knives move through food without sticking, and the forged bolsters and weighty tangs provide balance and strength. The contoured red handles provide a striking finish and fit comfortably in the palm. Enclosed in a natural bamboo box with a hinged lid and slots for the knives, these tools store safely and securely when they're not working hard. Best washed by hand to protect the edges, this set comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Life is easy with FURI
My boyfriend bought me the Furi Rachel Ray knives for xmas last year 2005. This knife set is so easy to use cutting whole chickens for roasting, onions, peppers, and potatoes with no effort making it easy on my wrist. I couldn't believe how smooth of a cut the knives generated after I went back to try my old knives. The bonus is the small knife that is included in the set, very good for small items like the ones in salads.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Knives w/Great Handles
These are my first real knives.I've been using them for about six months, and I LOVE them. They chop like a breeze, and the silicon handle doesn't slip even if your hands are covered with oil.The silicon is also applied such that food cannot get between it and the bolster or heel.
5-0 out of 5 stars happy slicing
The knives are amazing, really sharp, smooth cutting and easy to handle.Sorry I waited so long to purchase them.

Many associate Ginsu knives with the product’s kitschy infomercial from the ‘70s that begins with a karate kick to a watermelon and proceeds with a demo of these knives cutting through just about anything in the house. Like the original product, Ginsu’s International Traditions is designed for the home cook who is not attuned to the maintenance required of a more high-end knife. However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife, while meeting current design trends and performance expectations. 4-0 out of 5 stars great knives for a very good price
This is the only set of steak knives that I have ever owned. That being said I can tell you that these knives are sturdy and up to the task of cutting meat superbly. $30 is dirt cheap too.

Purchased 2 sets (8-Piece Steak Knives) for a wedding shower for an awesome price.I found the same knives in a department store for a higher price and there were only six in the set!I have owned a set of these for 11 years and they are great. They dress up the dinner table nicely - the ones with the big bulky black handles are not as elegant on the table. Can't wait to purchase these again for the next bridal shower I attend! ... Many characteristics of the premium brand carry over to these more affordable blades. Forged from a single piece of stain-resistant steel, each knife offers a full tang and the classic triple-riveted handle. Measuring 8-1/4 inches in length, the cutting edges feature a serrated texture to easily slice steak, tuna, or pork into bite-sized morsels. Additionally, the blades can ably tackle any number of kitchen cutting and slicing tasks. Without the need for sharpening, the cutlery is virtually maintenance-free and even cleans safely in the dishwasher--although hand washing is preferred. 5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
i love the sleek and streamlined design, and the stainless steel handles are so pretty.this is my first knife set.you definitely have to handwash, but they're worth the trouble.i've used them for 2-3 wks and haven't sharpened the chef's knife yet, but i think it's time...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent knives!!
Even though I already own a very expensive set of Henckels knives, I purchased this Chicago Cutlery set for the convenience of extra knives. Chicago Cutlery was highly rated by Consumer Reports, which is why I decided to try the brand. You wouldn't expect inexpensive knives to be so good, but this set is really very impressive. These knives are a pleasure to use in the kitchen (I'm an avid cook) and were worth every penny. So if you don't want to spend several hundred dollars on top quality knives, Chicago Cutlery is definitely the way to go for good knives. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a Farberware
Its not from Faberware. Not written anywhere, ITS ONLY from TRISTAR. I don't know why they say its from faberware..sharpness is bad too..

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
These knives barely cut.... and the title is misleading. This set has nothing to do with Faberware. Also, I have had this set for only a few weeks and already rust has appearred on them.Buy them if you intend it for one time use.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a Farberware, poor sharpness & steel quality
Definitely not a Farberware. A few knives aren't even sharp and steel quality is very poor. I will make a use of steak knives, they seem to do their job... One of the big knives is the worst, because the blade is heavier then the handle, so it's hard touse it safely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely perfect kitchen knife set!
I absolutely love these knives! I was lucky enough able to get this set on Amazon for under $50 and they are simply the best that I've ever owned! Nothing beats having the proper tools for the job and I have to admit I've been cutting with some very poor tools over past few years. The knives in this set have all been exquisitely crafted, perfectly balanced and are an absolute joy to use. This set replaced the "Miracle III" blades that I purchased over 3 years ago for twice the money. I wish I had known about and purchased this set originally as I know I will be getting much more use and many more years of enjoyment from them!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!
I like this whole set alot.I think they are even sharper and more easy to handle than my Caphalon knives. The handles are comfortable, the blades are sharp, this set came with bonus shears and a knife sharpener also.I like them so much, I am hand-washing them to keep them in perfect condition.

However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife to meet current design trends and performance expectations.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars nice set matching quality
this beats the bee-gee-zus out of what i thought it would be. solid set. yes the knives are heavy, but ain't that a good thing. to me heavy is good. and beside they would give you carpal wrists anyway, such a wimp if you can swing one of these. as for rust, who washes knives in a machine, tsk-tsk. so washing them the right way, by hand, i see zero rust. as for sharpness, bye-be birdie if you give one of these the finger. oh yeah, one knife was border line in sharpness, but 5 swaths with the sharpening blade and zip thru fresh baked bread without any squashing. the price-well it seems just about right. of course better than 40 would be a real deal. but zero complaints at the forty level. oh yeah again, the blades are thick enough to be without bending like a limp wrist. macho macho man...

4-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Set for The Price
The wife and I needed a knife set with some steak knives. This was a great deal (on sale and a promotion code). This set is a lot better than the set my parents have, and there's cost 3 times as much!
5-0 out of 5 stars So many pieces in this knife block set = HUGE value!
As this was being shipped, and with my luck, I was quite anxious that I would receive a bad knife block set.Surprisingly, it's held up fine and served me well.No rust; blades are still as sharp as new (I've been cooking a *lot* lately); handles are fine; rivets still intact.

This is the best deal for your money. The knives are probably one of the few economical knives out there that are always very SHARP. Their lightweight construction makes them easy to use. Make sure you wipe dry the knives each and every tome you wash them by hand (Never put them in the dishwasher!) good bang for you buck!

4-0 out of 5 stars Chicago Cutlery Metropolitan 10 piece Block set
I didn't find the knives to be initially sharp, it may be a problem just for me but trying to sharpen them on the round knife sharpener provided in the set didn't seem to accomplish anything.. I bought an electric sharpener which does seem to do some good.. on the plus side they feel balanced and well made, no signs of rust as yet.. all in all I don't know if these are substantially better than a cheaper serrated edge set. I guess you get what you pay for but I didn't and don't want to spend five hundred dollars plus on kitchen knives.

From one of Henckels' moderately priced cutlery lines, theseeight steak knives divide any rib eye, chop, or roast into bite-sizepieces and then store in a handsome wood box. The thin, curved bladesare perfect for precise cutting, although their fine serrations tend totear meat fibers rather than slice neatly through them. Stamped fromhigh-carbon stainless steel, the knives are lighter in weight thanforged knives and don't have bolsters, which might not be essentialwhen confronting a thick prime rib. The synthetic handles featureclassic three-rivet styling with full tangs for strength. The storagebox is stained a rich auburn. I got a set of four of these same steak knives for Christmas 2004, and they've been excellent. They've seen constant use and are still razor-sharp.
4-0 out of 5 stars Adequate Cutlery
I purchased these knives after having purchased and returned mundial steak knives that had great blades, but the black plastic handles faded after only one hand washing. These knives have serrated blades and are fine for cutting steak on a plate, and I don't think I would want steak knives to be any sharper than what these are, because if so, they would damage my dinner plates. You aren't supposed to wash them in the dishwasher, but I have several times now and they came through as good as new.The rose wood box is nothing special, but it's okay.Overall, for the price, I'm quite happy with these knives.
