What's for dinner?
These cutting boards, with the three different colors to prevent cross-contamination of food, are terrific.Having worked as a cook in health facilities, I am familiar with the problems of food poisoning and how easily it is spread.These cutting boards really help to reduce the dangers of that in my home kitchen.Their flexibility makes them easy to store when they are not in use and they are easy to wash and care for.I wouldn't want to be without them!

Great, but think of them as disposable
When I was in culinary school, we were assigned one board per class. So I started to use one of these on top of a heavy synthetic or wooden cutting board when I wanted to avoid cross contamination. It's a practice I keep up, especially when I doing small scale catering on location (i.e. somone's home) when it's a hassle to bring along a whole bunch of different cutting boards. I order two or three sets of these at a time, and with heavy use, I find they last about six months or so. A regular home cook could probably keep them for a year or more with frequent use.

Not just for pie crust!
The other reviewers are quite right that this pin will get your pie dough smooth and round without all the fuss you are accustomed to. Very, very nice design
For years, I've been using an awkward wooden pepper mill roughly the size and shape of a table leg, a gift from one of my in-laws. The gear finally broke, giving me an excuse to shop for something more ergonomic -- especially since I've developed arthritis in my hands and arms in the past couple of years. This is the easiest pepper machine to operate I've ever used, the long horizontally-rotating arm being very easy on the hands. The large opening for filling means I don't have peppercorns on the floor anymore, nor do I have to shovel them into a tiny hole with the tip of a teaspoon. As other reviewers have noted, it would be nice if it would sit loosely on its lid without the necessity of pulling it off for each use -- but that also means I don't leave a trail of errant pepper between the island and the cooktop. And it took me a few days to discover that you have to press the wheel up into the base to adjust the fineness of the grind (there are no directions), but once I caught on to that, the adjustment seems to stay where I put it -- unlike some other people's experience, apparently. I can only hope this beautifully designed instrument lasts a long, long time.

Although I'm not THAT old, I still have trouble with the ones that have the grinder as part of the barrel.This one is easy to fill, easy to grind.

I have neuropathy and arthritis in my hands.Like many people I prefer to use a pepper mill but found it very difficult.I do not have strength in my hands and had just about decided I would not be able to use any pepper mill when I saw the Good Grips. The temperature readings were spot on.
Life span
The temperature markings on this thermometer are not protected!Over time the markings get occluded by grease and if you try to wash the grease off the markings come with it. This means the thermometer has a short life span for people who rely on the markings for anything (which granted is not everyone).Last time I buy an oven thermometer in which the markings don't sit behind a glass face!.

Easy, even for clumsy thumbed people!

I bought this pasta machine 6 months ago, and I've used it at least once or twice a month ever since. I also bought one for my mother and taught her how to use it. This machine really just replaces a rolling pin and a big knife for cutting noodles (how my mom has been making hers).

If you like grilling kabobs these are great skewers for you.Basically, there are two main types of skewers available in the market.Metal and Wooden.Wooden ones can be made of bamboo or other wood types and often are round shape.The problem with wood skewers is that they can get burnt if the grill is quite hot so you have to soak the skewers in water before use.Also, because they are round, it's difficult to "flip" the skewer so that you can evenly grill the kabobs or whatever else you are grilling.

Better than Pampered Chef

Great little grinder.
I'd never even thought of an electric pepper grinder until this came up as a recommendation on Amazon. I bought one based on the reviews. It's the best pepper grinder I've ever owned or used. I, too, recharge batteries, so battery life is not an issue. Still, I've used this at almost every meal for a few weeks and haven't had to change them yet.

Couldn't live without it!
This scale is a foodies dream.We owned the same one in England but lost it on the move home.So we bought another!It takes up little space and can be stood up on its side because it is square--for storage.The ease of transition between grams and lbs / oz is really 1 touch of a button.I like the ability to zero out with an empty bowl from your kitchen on it and then measure flour, etc usng the same bowl.The batteries last quite a while.If you're in the market for a kitchen scale...look no further.

Broken in less than 1 year
My Salter 1001 scale started having problems within 3 months and broke within 10 months.I am sending the scale back to Saltier for replacement.A good scale while it worked, but what pain this has become.

Terrible-Don't Buy
I read all of the reviews and thought this was the paper towel holder for me. Boy, was I wrong. It looked beautiful when it arrived and I couldn't wait to use it. Well, I put on my first roll of paper towels and pulled one off. The racheting system worked ok until it came towards the end of the roll. The racheting stopped and jammed and the paper towels ripped in half instead of where they were supposed to. I am going back to the old paper towel holders that just have a stick holding the roll and not a racheting whisk like bar. Jesh, all I want is a paper towel not aggravation. Which is what I got with this item.

Classy paper towel holder
This is my second purchase of this ratcheting towel holder. It's a gem. Works perfectly -- just enough resistance to allow you to tear off what you need, no more and no less. Sturdy, unless you drop it from counter height to a hard floor, which is why I'm buying another. The pole is now wobbly (worked beautifully 'til that moment of tragedy, though). So this first one will go into the laundry room and my new one will replace it in the kitchen. I don't usually care about such silly things as paper towel holders, but this one is so nice that I immediately dashed to my computer to order a replacement -- I guess that's a testimonial of how much I like it. You'll find yourself using more paper towels than usual... just because it's fun to make that clickity-clickity ratcheting noise... so be warned ;)

We tried a lot of paper towel holders. this is not the best, but at least it works decently. The post bends too easily at the bottom, where it attaches to the base. A DEFINITE crowd pleaser!
I purchased one of these as a gift for someone, and as soon as it hit the counter, the Bartender was a smash hit at the party. Everyone was asking about it. Spiral screw replacement availability
Good unit to use if you have strong hands and arms. Spiral worm has worn out (after 200 openings)and cannot find a new one. No response from Metrokane. Can anyone help?

Terrible
I bought this based on the other reviews, but mine stopped working within six months of purchasing it.It needed constant cleaning of the part that wasn't removable, in addition to sharpening ... and no, I wasn't using it to cut steel or pouring syrup all over it - just opening cans.We ended up buying a replacement at a drug store for $8 that has worked exponentially better than this thing.I am quite comfortable saying that it is by far the worst appliance I have ever owned.Save your money.

I would purchase again
I used my moms, and I was sold....so I purchased mine.I then loved it so much more, I came back and purchased 3 more for gifts.Its a great idea and very handy.I have to admit, I am one of those that used a stationary until the blade got nasty (you can only keep it clean so long) then I would throw it away and buy another $10 one....not a problem any longer with this...the blade comes right off...not worries.

Wonderful--though a bit hulky.
This is just a great piece of equipment. It works beautifully and is so thoughtfully designed with the storage container. It is, as others mention, a pretty large size. You need to make more space for it--but this feature also makes it easier to use (sturdier and with larger cutting surface). If I were ordering again I might instead go for the microplane one because of its somewhat more delicate appearance [I've used it and it's also superb}--but I have no complaints about this.

nice, bu could be a few bucks less
the quality is there, it works very well at the tasks designed for. very solid and all that. it is a grater plain and simple. my only issue is price, i'd say it would/should only be in the 14buck arena.

Some design flaws
As I do a lot of home cooking from scratch, I was attracted to this product because of the bottom container with measurements thereon. Unfortunately the container is a dark charcoal, making seeing anything inside almost impossible. And, although most of what you are grating falls into the container bottom, quite a bit still falls in front of the grater (even if tilted backward at an angle), creating somewhat of a mess.
